If you want to test your system and see just how much power you can put out (within the confines of a CPU limited game engine), then this will still show you what your rig is capable of. If you want a game that is perhaps the closest you can get to the opening fire fight of Predator (with similar otherworldly interference taking over) then this is without doubt a game you should grab! If you’ve played it before but don’t know where you put your CD-ROM or even your DVD copy of the game, this might be a good excuse to shell out for a new digital version. Even if you just want a fun sci-fi action first person shooter with some fun future tech and some lovely visuals… grab a copy!

Crysis still holds up as a fun and exciting popcorn style action game that is an excellent addition to anyone's library.

Crysis Remastered lives up to its name by putting even the most modern and performing hardware under pressure. All in all, the graphical makeover is pretty competent, despite some smudges here and there.
  4. This year we saw lots of Remastered, Remake and even Reboot productions. Compared to these, we can say that the features and graphics of Crysis Remastered are very satisfactory.

Now Crytek has jumped onto the remaster train and is stepping into the trap it has built for itself: To release a new edition of a 13-year-old game in 2020, which again needs a really expensive PC for full graphics power, is a crazy idea.

Crysis still is a decent shooter – and looks better than ever. Nonetheless promised features as well as a full mission are missing, while the optimization is lukewarm.

Crysis Remastered is a good bit of nostalgia that can appeal to players who want to reminisce about the early days of the Xbox 360 and PS3. Those that are looking for a fun and quick shooter game will also find a lot of enjoyment from Crysis Remastered, but don’t expect the reinvention of the wheel because Crysis invented the wheel in the first place.

The gameplay shows its age and the updated visuals are not nearly worth the performance cost. If you already own the original, you can give this one a pass.

A remastered version that improves some graphics aspects of the original and preserves its gameplay, but is plagued by poor optimization and suffers bad framerates even on the most powerful hardware.

The 2007 shooter returns loaded with countless visual enhancements, as well as being once again relevant as a benchmark tool. Although with some rough mechanics, the fun is still there, and visiting the Lingshan Islands has never been so vibrant.

Crysis remains a fun game to play in 2020. This remaster implements a number of welcome visual features that make you want to get lost once again on this paradise island. However, it is difficult to ignore the poor optimization of the title, making a very solid configuration essential to fully enjoy the experience. We will therefore easily recommend this new version to well-equipped players who do not yet have the original version.

It still is a great shooter, but it undoubtedly shows its age. The graphical improvements are just anecdotic.

Crysis Remastered is a lazy console port that weighs a lot even on modern PCs: it shows an incredible work of art on global illumination, but the performances are held back by some bad choices.

I quite enjoyed the time I spent with Crysis Remastered. The game does hold up well to this day however the performance issues and the frustrating AI really hindered my enjoyment.

Crysis Remastered is a very pretty game when it runs smoothly, which sadly isn’t often. That said, it’s still a satisfying shooter, even if the AI needed more of an overhaul than the graphics.

You have to be willing to forgive quite a bit to enjoy Crysis Remastered. Questionable enemy AI is bad enough, but a reduction in content is baffling, and the effort feels incomplete because of it. The extra lighting is nice, but the spotty performance is the real sore spot, as it ensures that a polished and well-performing version of the game is simply unattainable. Unless you have issues trying to run the original on your system or absolutely need controller support, you're probably better off skipping this until a better, proper remaster comes along.

For its age, Crysis is still quite fun, but I don’t think bragging about the game’s ability to vanquish any PC should still be a thing today. There are many shooters that look much better and at the same time run much smoother on the same hardware. It’s also a pity that the Warhead expansion was not remastered along the base game and there’s no trace of the multiplayer modes. [12/2020, p.56]

Crysis Remastered is an uneven remaster that highlights the greatness of the original game while failing to deliver a definitive edition of the game. Crysis deserved better.

Honestly, it’s difficult to recommend Crysis Remastered. Its premise and design remain impressive to this day, but poor optimisation makes it difficult for players to enjoy the new graphical additions. If you already own a copy of Crysis, you aren’t going to miss out on much here.

Sadly, Crysis is not really a good remaster. Sure, it's still Crysis but its looks are sub-par, it's filled with bugs, and some content is missing like mission 10 and the DLSS. Don't bother unless it's heavily discounted and you own a powerful PC.

This is a rather cursory attempt at a remaster. The use of downgraded assets, missing content, no DLC, no multiplayer, and no ability to quick save are all big letdowns. One thing the remaster does carry on though is the legacy of the original game in being able to run in a smooth and consistent manner. Further patches may improve the game but in its current state, the only reaction possible with this release is disappointment.

Crysis Remastered isn’t the game we wanted it to be. It’s still fun to play and the many tweaks and additions to the graphics look insane… most of the time. Sadly, the fancy new raytraced illumination is useful only in some situations, while other key moments of the campaign are watered down. The PC version itself isn’t great either: it gnaws a single thread on your processor and faces common problems like bugs, crashes and more.

  1. If you can get it for £4 – and as noted above, you can during most Steam sales – Crysis is worth returning to for at least its first few hours. If you’ve never played it before, I reckon it’d be worth playing all the way to its end. But Crysis Remastered’s spit-polished nanosuit can’t redeem the game’s aging design, or justify the Maximum Price.

The 7 Wonders of Crysis Remastered

Episode 1: "Hell of an Optimization"

It was known as the Crysis, short of a crying systems. Like the Turok 2 on N64 it ran like. It attacked our hardware, but we fought back, even thought we'd won. We lied to ourselves about a lot of things. That's why they developed Crysis Remastered. Though they've never told us if it was supposed to keep the nightmares in our GPU's or not, it didn't take long for the remaster to reclaim what was stolen from original. We think unused system resources are ours, the truth is - we just keeping it warm for the next Crytek creation.

Heh, welcome to the new game, same as the old game.

    Episode 2: "The Stunt"

No matter what man tells himself, in his heart resides the spirit of the fraud. He can build game engines or erect monuments to his greatness, but, at its core, he cannot escape his own nature. The method of false promises and paid reviews is beautiful in its simplicity. Is that coincidence that every culture on earth invented it independent of one another? Or is it something else? Something primal that allowed us to manifest it. Of course the trick about cheating is making sure you're the cheater and not the cheated.

Are you the cheater or the cheated? I know for damn sure which one I am.

Episode 3: "The Flaws and Defect"

They used to call it stunning looking game, real center of cutting edge technological power, it still is I suppose. Saber Interactive corporation, grimmest company in the world, turned Crysis into its own personal playground. And somewhere here is the result of all their sinister power. But power means different things to different people. There's the power to take life of loved franchises, the power to make a difference, but real power, REAL power is understanding just two things: flaws and defect.

    I'm ready.

Episode 4: "No More Fear, Maximum Saturation is Here"

The saturation slider moves right 100% in a second. Created to fool the players, and fool 'em hard. The combination of 2000 years of human artistry and know-how, it has no agenda but the one it's been given. It knows only one purpose, only one end.

It's the most unadulterated form of expression. And right now, devs have got a lot to say.

    Episode 5: "The Perfect Ascension"

    Error: Missing input parameter 'text'

    Final Episode: "End of Rays"

To summarize all the bs above: game performs worse than original, looks worse (even with RT and other tech), lacks one big level from original (!), costs more and honestly it's nothing more than an attempt at making easy money.
    Slightly better than WC3: Refunded.

Crysis Remastered is officially the worst remaster in history of gaming:
    Performance is an absolute abomination:
i9 9900k 5GHz, 1080TI, 2560:1080: 30-60FPS on Very High, no RTX. At some places FPS is terrible no matter what setting you use, 42FPS on "Can it Run Crysis ?" and 50FPS on "Medium" which looks like absolute **** Same thing was in the original, nothing is improved.
It takes a real talent to make a slightly modded 14 FREAKING YEARS OLD GAME to run like **** on modern hardware.

Not enough ? Most of the time it looks WORSELess Natural than original. [Link omitted per site rules]
    - Vegetation physics is way worse
    - AI is way worse
    - No original controls, no grenade quick throw, no lean. New controls are super clunky and unresponsive
    - Can't manually save the game
    - Ascension level is cut from the game
    - Gun sound problems (full auto and single fire have sound of two completely different guns)

Refunded almost immediately. That **** as the studio that made this just shouldn't exist.

Runs like **** but the visual don't match up, even on high setting it doesn't really look that amazing, look worst than the original game inRuns like **** but the visual don't match up, even on high setting it doesn't really look that amazing, look worst than the original game in some area, sound effect is broken cause you can hear enemy chatter from the other side of the map, control some how feels worst than the original it's extremely unresponsive, and WHY WOULD YOU REMOVE MANUAL SAVING? There's no good reason for that, it's just a dumb decision, you think the remaster would scale better on multicore CPU but it STILL don't, than what the hell is the point for the remaster? Let's not even talk about the Epic exclusivity.

Overall, EPIC failed on almost every aspect, do not buy unless it's super cheap, what a shame, I was hoping for this game to carry some momentum for a new Crysis game, now it seems unlikely.
