    A timeless classic! My first FPS's were Halo, and CS 1.6. After Source came out, i got a new computer and sat down to play. Some of you make the argument that it is 1.6 gameplay with a new engine, and you're right, but 1.6 was an amazing game, and the Source engine only made it more fun and addicting! This is a game i will continue to play for years to come. FPS fan?? BUY THIS GAME!

    This game is the best the graphics and physics are beyond good and the only problem is hitboxes are a bit slow in 66 tick servers.

    awesome game, should bring out another with better graphics a lil, and new weapons. oh, and they should bring back the tactical shield! :D

    In and of itself the game is not bad. The major problems come from the fact that the developers seem to have tried to balance the game backwards. They give the better players an advantage, how will that ever create a balanced game. That, and the fact that you spend about 90% of the game watching someone else play pretty much ruin it.

    This is one of the better online games I have played. The engine is just great. The netcode is how it should be, and the (console) configuration tools rival those of the idtech3 engine. The maps, models, and textures are well done. The game is really fun, and it is not as much of a camper's game as previously claimed.

    Great game, love the graphical jump they made from 1.6 However the random headshots from the newbie spray is rather annoying, though it happens. Great game guys!

    I think that it's great. The graphics and physics are wonderful and playing custom maps and gametypes is great. I would've liked a singleplayer story like in CS: Condition Zero, but the multiplayer makes up for everything. It's more of a team effort than free-for-all. It's not about surviving, it's about getting kills to give your team a better advantage.

    Its a great game, the only people who dont like it are people who cannot play it. My advice to them, just keep at it, and amazingly you will improve!

    The gameplay could be better, hitboxes are a bit slow. The graphics could also be a lot better. But I give this game an 8 because im addicted to it which says a lot about the game!

    Its the best ego shooter cause it contains really only the simplest ego shooter instructions and not maybe an inventor or so, just ego shooter for everyone playable.

    BEST FPS GAME EVER!! better than cod4 with mods, maps, and more! And you could have fun with people on the mic and chat with them(when they dont spam hehe..) SO BUY CSS AND HAVE FUN(if u got css already HAVE FUN).

    An incredible game for those who like hybrid first person/squad based games. Highly recommended for those who want to practice SWAT tactics, paintball, and the like. Headsets are definitely worth the cost; it greatly enhances gameplay.

    Its the best Multiplayergame and everyone play this on LANParty´s, its one of the best games from VALVE and it make always fun to play this, If you like Zombie, you can play it. If You are not so good in Counter Strike you can play Deathmatch.

    its one of the best games i ever played..
    the graphic is very good. the physics are very good...
    the gameplay is easy to learn and for Noobs its very funny... the game is soo perfect but the players aren't everytime so nice... flamers are the biggest problem but at the end its the best Game i ever played :D:D

    Amazing game! When I first played Counter - Strike back in 2001, I was really impressed by this game, and now I've been stunned again by the new physicality and detail level of this game!

    ok, this is propbably... no no no, basically the best online FPS out (until now, because COD MW2). Don't take the advice and low score rants from the ppl who arent PC gamers... they really dont know how the recoil system works in guns. This game is perfectly blended with physics, weapons, gameplay, and mods for the awesome modders from FPS banana. The only flaw as some mentioned is ok, this is propbably... no no no, basically the best online FPS out (until now, because COD MW2).     Best Counter-Strike ever! Great graphics and even better than a lot out there and it was released in 2004, so that's real good! Great online servers and anti-cheat service. Great game in all.

    This game has bad graphic,and the gameplay offer nothing new and the only good thing about this game is that there is no problem finding server and it is so many noobs so it is fun watching. I want to give this game a 0 but, i cant stop laugh when the noobish players running around and team-killing so i give it a 1.

    I think its a 7 because tbh its a really good game but it can have a lot more stuff added into it. This game would be perfect if it had some features like the ones in a game called warrock (im not saying all) but like the ability to prone and ability to lean so its harder to shoot someone sounds pretty cool.     Counter-Strike: Source offers flexible styles of play. Using mod's and various game settings, there is always something fun to do involving great action and Edge-of-your-seat thrills. The mechanics allow you to quickly get used to working out, and the smooth rendering with higher model machines give such a life like feel, as though you were in really Razing and Blazing "The Point".     I want to rate it 500/10, but since there isn't a 500/10, 10/10 will match it. I rated it 10/10 because I started playing CS1.0 from very begining(age 12) and now I am in CSS, Good graphics, the body moves when ur dead(ragdoll?) CAL matches are easy(for me..) Ze and Zm are kinda good 6/10 becuz of selfishness and always running to illegal spots. W/e its a VERY good game, should had I want to rate it 500/10, but since there isn't a 500/10, 10/10 will match it.     For me, it's no question to rate Counter-Strike: Source 10.0! It's just a great game, you need to be skilful and there are only few cheaters. I've played Counter Strike 1.6 for a long time. Though I prefer the z-bots of 1.6, because they act more human, not knowing everytime where the human players are and aiming directly on the other player (a human never can do this that For me, it's no question to rate Counter-Strike: Source 10.0! Any area where someone is watching an entrance the player 'peeking' into the entrance has a huge advantage because they will see the person watching before the player watching sees them, most of the time the 'peeking' player will already have time to stop and be ready to shoot before the watching person sees them. The models were made larger and the maps were filled with extra junk laying around, like barrels which are randomly placed everywhere along with many other little objects. This makes the game feels really cluttered and makes it easier to 'frag', half the time you can enter an area and have no need to aim because the models fill up the space. The 'updated' flashbangs are random in that you cant dodge them consistently which takes a lot from the game. Smoke grenades are explotable because in certain areas you can see shadows through them but not from the other side which is another flaw. Not to mention that the slow blooming of the smoke makes the game easier for the players watching the smoked area. The model movement speed especially walk speed is slowed down, which also makes the game easier. A combination of the larger models and tightly cramped map areas allows for a lot of random lucky bullets to headshot people when a player is running around spraying. Overall css is just a dumbed down, 'pretty', version of cs. I would recommend sticking with cs1.6 which is so much more of a polished and challenging game.… Expand

    CS:S Detracts from the overall value of cs 1.6 because it allured all the professional gamers with stories of money and glory due to the increase in gfx etc. Promising more coverage on source.. most 1.6 leagues died and what is source now? Nothing. Source is still underplayed, and cs 1.6 is still superior in player-base and skill.

    Excellent game. Just like counter-strike 1.6, but much better quality and gameplay. Don't listen to Jonathan R this game is a classic (one of the best shooting game experience ever). I give it 10/10 for a amazing design, experience and gameplay.

    i bought this game like 2 days ago. And i already fell in love with it. I had no trouble playing. just make sure your connection is fast...nothing under 150Kbps. the only con i have on this game is most players aren't what you would call "nice".
    It was worth my $20 US dollars coming with Day of Defeat and Half Life Death match.

    I'm bored of people who stay in the past saying "1.6 is better". Its like keep using windows 3.1 or playing Fifa 96 instead Fifa 09. In fact, how u can compare a superb physics motor Havoc with a crappy old one of 90's and even say "is better". Some changes are for bad, i know, but changes in this game are not. Keep playing Age of E. Conquerors instead of Age III.

    I've seen many reviews about Counter-Strike: Source now.
    Some like it and some dont. I personally love all Counter-Strike versions. Especially Source. Everytime I'm playing it, I cant stop. The game is like a drug and there is no way for me to stop playing it. But thats all what a Videogame needs.

The graphics are without question, amazing for the time of the game coming out, and yes, the physics can be a little buggy at times, but all of these issues in the game have resulted in fun exploiting and finding ways to kill yourself withCounter-Strike Source is very engaging and probably my favorite shooter. In fact ive been to many a few game servers featuring mods such as "zombie mod", "Surf" (as mentioned earlier) and even copies of other games such as World of Warcraft, Even downhill skiing and musical chairs aren't out of the question (thats right MUSICAL CHAIRS) going to a zombie mod server Ive noticed that many of the players are at least under the age of 15. I cannot comment on the nature of the online players because it can vary between rude and downright vulgar to extremely helpful and generous... counter-strike source is what you make of it if you play with a good attitude you will find more people like yourself and you will find good communities online. because all if not most of the servers are all individually owned (almost franchised even) rules in servers may vary so if you find a server with a tight set of rules and watchful administrators you might as well let your 2 year old play the game. again... the game is what you make of it.… Expand

    I have been playing the whole series since the original. This is a must have for anyone into mutiplayer gaming, period..Bought this verion when released and still play it weekly for the past 4 years, never gets old, all kinds of mods out there from escape maps to zombie servers..The Source engine is near perfect.     It's an amazing multiplayer game , the maps are well detailed , and the controls are easy to use and learn , i recommend this to any person who enjoys playing First Person Shooters.

    I think the game is awesome. You can enjoy the new weapon models the maps better than cs 1.6. At first i always thought that cs 1.6 was better than css but i guess i was wrong. God Job Valve.

This game just feels right. I hope theres progress to a new cs because i couldnt open it and play it fast enough. I am and plan to always be a diehard Cs fan. Keep up the great work valve!     Great game, has a variety of different types of servers although i agree thats some times the aim is off, but it is the server that is messed up if that happens. overall a great game with good graphics and good gameplay i would recommend it.

    Graphics are pretty good. the rego or hitbox sucks really bad and it really needs to be fixed. Theres a alot of other ppl that go WTF when they miss when they was on the dot for a headshot. I think the counter strike source hacks make the game how it should be , like the aimbot and no recoil and u hit where ur aiming. Fuc game but its really unrealistic and hard to hit where u want.     I've played alot of games but i always come back to counter strike source, it has amazing replayablity and with the constant different game types being developed it appeals to a wide array of players.

    Mediocre shooter. Flashy graphics, outdated ragdoll and physics effects, and the worst ballistics/netcode I've ever contended with. I'd have an easier time picking things off with a Sten MK. II in reality. Yet, it remains to be one of the more popular games of its time.

    This is the best game I've ever had because the weapons and stuff are cool, plus the game need skills, unlike Unreal Tournament, you jump around in outer space, shoot lasers and blow them into leaky pieces of meat (which is the best part using the Redeemer), which is why thats fun too. But now its time for some NON-FICTIONAL HOT-ACTION+REAL GAMING experience. As i bought this game, i was really happy to possess this game, i know CS, and i have seen a lot before the release. But, as i installed CS:S, the first thing i hate was Steam. After Install it first have to Update for more than 6 hours with 48KB/s (DSL-Lite User)... anyone think about theI do not know, what i have to think, instead of the fact, that "Steam" really ruins this game. After a long while i was able to play it and the next failure of this game, better said at "Steam", was the fact, that the player isn't able to switch to "Offline-Mode" manually by changing it in any menu. Instead of that, i really have to block my internet to play CS:S offline without lags or nasty pings, 'cause i do not have the best connection all day. (Trust me, even if you play alone against bots, CS:S works over the internet and you have to fight also against ping/lags).

    The only things, that could rescue CS:S for me:
    1. A direct Download to an Updatepackage, so i do not have to update this game per steam every time i reinstall it.
    2.It may be brilliant that at any day there is an Steamupdate, which adds a button to switch to Offline mode. So i do not have to disconnect to the Internet before playing CS:S... (or easily a normal LAN-Mode for CS:S, which automatically works outside of the I-net ;D)    … Expand

    Play for 5 minutes or 5 hours, you don't get bored. Great fun but lets have some more official maps please.

    I love this game because it is so realistic and it is fun to play with my friends. I recommend this game to verybody that likes action first person games.

    what can I say this is my drug of choice and I love playing this for hours on end. Just too bad steam usually ends up screwing it up.

    i'd give it an 8.5 if that was an option. i love this game more than any other 1st person shooter, but the gameplay can use a little tweaking. it is much too easy to die. in 1.6 it takes more of an accurate shot to bring your health points down that much. most of the time if you dont happen to see your enemy right away, you will be killed without ever knowing he was around, leaving i'd give it an 8.5 if that was an option. i love this game more than any other 1st person shooter, but the gameplay can use a little tweaking. it is much too easy to die. in 1.6 it takes more of an accurate shot to bring your health points down that much. most of the time if you dont happen to see your enemy right away, you will be killed without ever knowing he was around, leaving you feeling frustrated. but other than that small problem the game is awesome.… Expand

    It is a great game, but it is full of bugs, hitboxes dont work etc. I think I speak for most of the compeditive 1.6 players when I say that they have ruined the game, the physics are incomplete and at times an annoyance, the maps have been changed, walls are no longer spamable and it looks as tho valve is not going to improve these things.     This is by far the most intense game i have ever played and it is such a rush that is indiscribable untill you play.

    Valve has done a sterling job of moving a flagship franchise over to a new engine. Whilst the gameplay guts come over correct and intact, (which may disappoint some), Counter-Strike: Source is an even more engrossing and captivating experience, capable of sapping hours of your time, and even the worst "1337 g33zers" abusing voice chat can't spoil the fun you'll have with it.

    Counter-Strike: Source is, once you've gained a knack for it, the most consistently rewarding and surprising team-based shoot-'em-up available on the PC today. It's been dressed up nicely for its relaunch in 2004, but it wasn't broken, and Valve hasn't fixed it.
