Apr 13, 2012If you're looking for an interesting tactic/roleplaying mix, this might be it. But be aware that Confrontation offers little to no challenge for hardcore tacticians.
-
Apr 10, 2012Confrontation is a good strategy game ruined by some great flaws.
-
Apr 7, 2012Despite its tactical combat system, as well as the development of character and weapons, Confrontation turned out to be a disappointment. The game is too linear and repetitive, with no side quests or any other excuse to take a moment to pause and explore the maps. Plus, it has a complex story, told with discontinuities and hard to follow, along with dated graphics which make the game not too enjoyable.
-
Apr 13, 2012Its combat system is good as is the development of character and weapons, but Confrontation it's a game very repetitive and linear.
-
Apr 26, 2012This tactical RPG from Cyanide implements some charming ideas, but it suffers from repetition and bland, poorly designed levels.
-
Apr 18, 2012Think about a Diablo-like game without any loot system, or a Dragon Age without dialogue. Then you have an idea of what the true nature of Confrontation is. A game which is neither a role-playing game nor an RTS title.
-
Apr 6, 2012Confrontation was announced as a tactical RPG, but as a matter of facts is more of a Hack'n'Slash with some tactical twists and many problems like the terrible pathfinding and a shallow technical component. Recommended only to the fans of the board game.
-
PC Master (Greece)May 28, 2012Cyanide Studios used a low-budget production to bring a relatively unknown setting to our PCs. Unfortunately, the effort failed. Any good ideas were lost in repetition and underperformance. The script is a messy mix; the logic behind it is "pour as many components from the Aarklash setting as possible into a cauldron and cook it", but the result is something rather tasteless. [June 2012]
-
Apr 28, 2012Confrontation reminds us of more traditional role playing games. But most of all, how much better those product are compared to this, even nowadays. It's a choice not to modernize the gameplay, but that doesn't excuse any developer to deliver a broken product.
-
May 24, 2012A couple of hours into the game, monotonous running back and forth, punctuated with repetitive encounters, will inevitably put you to sleep.
-
PC PowerPlayMay 30, 2012A monotonous attempt to relive the glory days of RPG combat. [June 2012, p.62]
-
Level7.nuMay 9, 2012Promising attempt to create a fantasy cooperative RPG action fails because of frustrating game design, technical bugs and lousy visuals. [May 2012]
-
Apr 27, 2012I love RPGs and strategy games, and I really didn't enjoy it. On the other hand, it's decent enough that I can see some people enjoying it. If you like the idea of fine-tuning tactics with a small squad during repetitive combat for 40 hours, then you might find something here. If that's not your thing, you should probably just replay Dragon Age: Origins or Dawn of War II.
-
Apr 18, 2012Confrontation's tactical combat occasionally thrills, but it's pitted against a host of issues too powerful for it to overcome.
-
Apr 16, 2012Confrontation is an unfortunate a mess of a game, cluttering enough junk to prevent whatever good that lies within from shining through.
-
Apr 15, 2012Confrontation manages to score some points in a few areas, for example the concept. Also, the combat can get pretty difficult at times and encourages a tactical mind, which is a plus. Thank the heavens for the included pause button. Unfortunately, most of the ideas are very poorly executed and the gameplay is incredibly linear. For a 39.99 euro game, we would have expected more. A lot more.
-
Apr 7, 2012A well constructed core, in need of more finesse and better editing.
