As a die-hard castlevania fan I really can't recommend this game for other than the characters and lore(which in itself is as bland as the latest x-men movie). Speaking of similarly bad things I've played through all of the God of War games and I really despise them. They're spammy, they're filled with action-events they even have a lot of the nudity that Mirror of Fate has.

Anyway, as God of War is a mainstream adaption of Devil May Cry 3, Mirror of Fate is a mainstream adaption of God of War. It's more spammy then earlier titles, it relies less on exploration and backtracking than previous iterations. The story has less mystery than any of the games. The countless scenes you have to sit through with just poor panning of the camera to see some rather cliché view just cause you happen to have a scripted sequence on your hands.

If that wasn't enough the voice-acting is cringeworthy.

Even the music is okay at best...

*pukes a little* Glad I never have to touch this **** again.

Like the series itself, there's satisfaction to be had in sticking to the well-worm path. [June 2014, p.91]

A vastly better game than Lords Of Shadow 2, that smooths the rough edges from the 3DS original and proves that Castlevania need not revert back to a niche retro franchise.
