For PC, on release, this game has more bugs than an Anthill. One would think that with a 980 TI, 16 gb ram, and a 8700k that everything would be smooth for a cod title which usually implies fairly low stress on components but alas this was definitely not the case. Every 2-3 games the game crashes. Textures flicker on everything. textures disappear, The game reset my video settings for framerate after a crash. The game runs at highly variable frame rate. The game stutters. The game freezes. The game forgets perks you were using. The netcode is either alright or completely amiss. What the hell Treyarch? Also, the game has no campaign. Zombies is the only good thing about it, and everything else is just hype and bland gameplay. Theres no skins to farm, hardly any weapons. Alot of maps are recycled making you feel like you are playing an older title black ops. This game should be worth around 20-30$ and feels like an indie developer was struggling to make it. They banked on the hype of their Battle royale mode, which honestly is extremely shallow. I'd rather stick to fornite/pubg than the fast paced mockery of a BR title that's in this game. definitely regret the purchase.

It merely feels like the combination of ripped out elements of other games. I don't know if this partly down to the lack of any single player, but it has significantly curtailed my play time with this iteration of the franchise.

Should be better for the price tag but equally you have to ask yourself, what were you expecting?

Black Ops 4 is literally Black Ops 3.5.

It's not innovating and not fun at all, here's why. 1) It's now only on the Blizzard client which means they cut the user-base more than half. Why not release it on both Blizzard and Steam? No harm, no foul. 2) $60. For $60 you get Multiplayer/competitive, Battle Royale and Zombies. Back then (years ago) we got, a Campaign,

    2) $60. For $60 you get Multiplayer/competitive, Battle Royale and Zombies. Back then (years ago) we got, a Campaign, Multiplayer/competitive and Zombies. Now you pay more for less. They put all their development resources into Battle Royale so they skipped out on the Campaign.

    3) Battle Royale. 80% of players who bought Black Ops 4 are playing Blackout, the Battle Royale mode in this game. It's not a standalone game, not free or let's say $5 - 20 dollars, it's an add-on which means this tacked-on gamemode will die once the next Call of Duty comes out. Horrible business model. Did I mean it's unbalanced which it needs the standalone release for consistent updates?

    4) Remastered maps. The development team lost it's "soul" and they just recreate old maps and make them "new" in order to not make new maps. Back to the not being innovating.

    5) Operators. These "specialists" are basically Operators from Rainbow Six: Siege now. Back to the not being innovating.

    6) Server tick-rate is low which means locked FPS.

    7) Gameplay. Everyone is "squishy." You need to put 2 - 3 magazines into someone in order to kill them. Hardcore is best way to play for this type of game. If not, have fun going around a corner and someone camping it.

    Non-PC issue:
    7) No cross-platform, Xbox players and PlayStation players can't play with each other.

I wanna give this at least a 6 but can't due to the fact the game still influences CORNER CAMPING in all modes besides Zombies of course but it gets annoying...

The Twitch streamer Avoidthingpuddle says it the best on the whole camping subject so find that clip on YT.

You kill 2-3 players then heal up and run into a building for cover and low and behold some dip stick in the corner with a shotty that blows you away cause you have no more armor and they have been sitting there for 5+ mins to kill someone walking into the door or window. I've played many Battle Royal games and CoD seems to have it the worse for the camping DISGUSTING. Little chubby cheek kids camping cause they can't handle conflict.

Another thing I hated about Blackout is the normal spawn of a rocket launchers gotta love dropping out of the chopper to just get rocketed from a building across the way while your fighting another player or two for the goodies. Like make rockets in supply drops only as it causes major imbalance at the start of the game. Thats why certain games have a lock out to certain weapons appearing only in Supply Drops.

Next I wanna talk about the multiplayer as a whole the combat is really **** I feel there matchmaking algorithm is to place players that are starting out with people that are pros or have 40+ hours in the game already that just man handle you every turn of the way. They have a **** Copy paste system from black ops 3 the whole operator idea is TRASH. Rainbow Six Siege just does that whole idea better.

The only real mode I found fun on this game was Heist. They really killed this game and its potential to being a game that kills PubG.

The only thing this game has on top of pubg is the performance and hardly any lag.

This is not a 10 out of 10 game so please if you are reading the 10 out of 10 reviews ignore them. This game is easily a 4-6 outta 10 if that.

The specialist system means classic equipment like grenades or the specialist equipment both have incredibly long cool-downs and you must choose between one or the other in class creation. Instead of specialist abilities being a balanced, frequent use ability that defines your character's play-style, they're instead a one or two-per-game chance at high power that can immediately be taken away if you die mid-ability. While specialists could've innovated and improved Call of Duty's dated gameplay, it doesn't -- if anything it makes it worse.

Blackout, perhaps one of the biggest selling points for this year's CoD, combines the worst parts of Call of Duty with the worst parts of Battle Royale. There can be very fun moments in Blackout, however they are surrounded by waiting in lobbies and walking/travel simulators. In gameplay, there is a huge dependence on finding the right gear, and many fights turn into "shooting each other until the person with higher damage/defense wins". The fast-paced gameplay and movement doesn't mesh very well with the slower Battle Royale style, and it is too RNG heavy to be consistently enjoyable.

And then there's Zombies. I like Zombies - some people may not enjoy the changes to perks/gobblegum/health/etc, but I've had a good time with it. But while three maps is more than what we've gotten in previous games, it is still too little to be worth buying this game at $60 if you're solely interested in Zombies, especially considering the fourth map is locked behind a $50 season pass.

And there's no campaign. Admittedly I'm not too upset by this, as CoD campaigns have been nothing better than "okay" for several years, but I know there are plenty of people who are.

So what is this game? A boring, full-priced $60 game, with a $50 all-or-nothing season pass that means if you're only interested in a part of the DLC, you have to pay the full price for everything. Oh, and there's microtransactions -- It uses Fortnite's model while still expecting you to pay $110 if you want the rest of the content. All while being on the sluggish Battle.Net launcher that seems to require an update every time you start it.

But hey, at least 1/3rd of the game is fun.

This game definitely has systems and mechanics that I will praise it for, but it is usually ruined by stupid design decisions, poor weapon balancing, changes that weren't needed, and overall inconsistent gameplay experience.

WEAPON BALANCING & TIME TO KILL:
Black Ops 4's unique health system, where you must manually regenerate health and the amount of health is increased to 150, instead of 100, means that Black Ops 4 is more of a tactical shooter instead of a gun's blazing Call of Duty, like the ones that have worked every other game and sold very well, but ok. And I don't have a problem with increasing the TTK and including manual health regen, except when the whole system is broken. The TTK in every match is so inconsistent, sometimes I'll kill someone in 5-10 bullets, sometimes 10-15, sometimes a whole mag won't kill them. I don't understand why this always seems to be an issue in Treyarch games, but my god it's horrible. And here's the next issue, the weapon balancing is horrible. See, here's the thing Treyarch, if you're going to increase the time to kill for AR's and SMG's, then don't leave snipers with the ability to 1 shot kill me in the body and tactical rifles to two burst/shot me as well. It seems that every time I'm in a gunfight with a sniper or DMR user, they'll be able to miss 90% of their shots, but because the weapons are so unbalanced, I will melt 10 bullets into them and I'll die first from the one lucky shot they get. The weapon balancing in this game is infuriating, and it just adds to the horrible TTK.

    CONNECTION & NET CODE:
As we know, Treyarch games aren't known for having good servers, hit registration, consistent ping, or not suffering lag spikes, leave that to Titanfall. But for god's sake, how have you not worked out a somewhat consistent connection on your fourth instalment of the Black Ops series Vonderhaar? Every game is plagued with lag spikes, rubberbanding and horrible hit registration (aim first, shoot first, die first). This just adds to the horribleness of the increased TTK, I am emptying 15 to 20 bullets into someone, half don't hit and the player just runs back around the corner.

    PC OPTIMISATION:
PC optimisation is rather good this time around. I'm running an i5 6600, GTX 1060, and 16GB of 2133MHz RAM, and the game can run at a consistent 100fps on high-ish settings. It runs very smooth with little major fps drops or stuttering. The PC video options are extensive and it looks like Treyarch have done a great job on the PC port.

    SPECIALISTS:
I think the specialists this time around are much better than Black Ops 3, their abilities are earned much slower and the focus has seem to have shifted to gunplay, which is great. I like how each specialist has their own unique tactical or lethal ability, which can be replaced with the basic grenades and stuns if you'd like. Except for Prophet, Prophet can f*ck right off. He is so annoying I just want him to be deleted, he's like the Mei of Black Ops 4. What was wrong with him in Black Ops 3? His robot thing that goes around tasering people is SO ANNOYING, I don't know who at Treyarch thought this would've been a good idea, but my god they were wrong. He needs a change now.

    OVERALL THOUGHTS:
I really don't think Black Ops 4 is a game worth picking up unless you find a great deal or are obsessed with battle royale. There's nothing special about this game, it's just another boring Call of Duty game made by another developer. The gameplay is the same, the weapons are the same, everything is the same or just pointless. I would avoid.

This is my first time playing CoD. Having heard positive opinions from streamers and watched some of them play, I figured I might give the game a try. I have very limited experience in online FPS shooters, so I was curious how well does the game play and if I will I be able to compete. I spent a dozen hours playing the game's different modes.

First of all, there is no single player, like most people have noted. That means your experience in this game will be limited to playing with and against others. I was OK with that, but in such situations I expect excellence in how the game does its multiplayer. Sadly, the game fails miserably.

As a new player I was hoping to be eased into the game, play with others my or similar level, and get adequate training against bots, etc. None of this happened.
The first few games were OK - I expected to under-perform, but as I got more and more into the game's mechanics, I realized how unpolished the entire experience is. Guns and characters are unbalanced, plain and simple. Some simply mow down enemies almost regardless of how far away they are, while some are useless and pretty terrible. It would be OK if I could get all the guns and mods immediately, but as lvl1, you have access to only a basic set of weapons. You just gotta play "like you have a pair" - as the game's commentator puts it, and get repeatedly mowed down by people 50 levels above you to start experimenting with other weapon setups. And while some of these people acquired some aim and tactical skill and will easily outplay you, some will just hold LMB and let ridiculous spray of their weapons take care of you without bothering to even follow you with their cross-hair. Also, some bullets round corners. Don't ask me how - I don't lag and the game runs smoothly on my hardware, so it defies reason.
Also, don't get me started on stun grenades and explosives.

The maps are OK if a bit dull. Most of them have very similar design so don't expect extreme variety.

Character movements and animation are smooth and the game's controls are intuitive, albeit a bit more complex than what I'm used to.

The UI is a bit of a mess.

Music is ... there? I can't even remember, it feels so generic. Character voices are dull, sound design is weird. You can tell there is a lot of sound and they put effort into making it cool, but the end-result is a cacophony of poor post-production, as if they wanted to stuff it all in no matter what.

And the training area for different characters, which doubles as a simple story is laughable at best, and insulting for the most part. The narrator really tries to be funny, ends up being cheesy and dry. The "story" itself is uninteresting and simplistic. They put a lot of effort into displaying vivid, mildly upsetting violence, and not enough into actually putting narrative meat on it.

I liked how complex the zombies mode could be but by the time I got to it, I was fed up with the entire experience.

I will not debate the game's price - it's a AAA game and you get a few modes, maps, and toys for that. It is unacceptable for me though, that for a game focusing only on multiplayer, it does it so poorly. It's simply not enjoyable.

It's flashy at first glance, designed to impress and draw you in but, ultimately, it feels empty and disappointing unless you are ready to spend more money to go "all in". The influence of Activision's bottom line is apparent in this game to the point that it distracts, which is a shame, because the shell of this thing is still just as promisingly solid as it was with Black Ops 2.

The Multiplayer game play is solidly “Black Ops”. You spawn, shoot, progress, and repeat, which is as rewarding as it has ever been, for better or worse. Each level of progression gained grants you a new toy to equip and play with and each new toy typically has different attachments to earn, as has been the norm with CODs since time immemorial. As in other Black Ops titles, one can "Prestige" their player level and gear, trading off the minor inconvenience of having to unlock everything again with the benefits of unique identity markers, a permanent unlock token, and unspoken bragging rights. On a side note for weapon progression: The Operator Mod feature, new to the Black Ops series, allows the player to modify a weapon in ways that change its fundamental performance, sometimes to its benefit but also, sometimes, to its detriment. Barring balancing issues, this feature has a lot of potential and should be considered a "keeper" for the series going forward. It keeps weapons that may have started to grow stale a little more “fresh”.

In addition to Multiplayer, the Blackout and Zombies modes are satisfyingly robust for what they are. Very little change is needed to make these formulas work.
The multiple Zombies scenarios are interesting, if not a little convoluted, and I can see myself trying to puzzle them out for many months to come, most likely eventually caving in and looking up strats on youtube. One important note on Zombies: If possible, ensure you have a good group of online friends that will talk to you. Playing solo and silent is a singularly depressing experience.

Blackout is what probably drew a lot of the pre-sale numbers we're seeing and some of that hype is well-deserved. The map is solid and the movement around it feels properly athletic. Even out in the dangerous open, you don’t feel completely vulnerable. Aside from some minor item spawn problems, a typical Blackout experience is an enjoyable one, regardless of preferred BR play style. I do enjoy the inclusion of tier rewards in Blackout, since it’s really the only place you can utilize the numerous gestures (what happened to emoting on a “winner’s circle screen at the end of Multiplayer rounds, Treyarch?!?!) and sprays that seems to fill the Black Market inventory to the brim. Having played a fair bit of PUBG and Fortnight, I personally think Blackout is the best version of BR out there right now.

Alas, Activision’s gonna Activision, so those enjoyable elements predictably deliver a fleeting and hollow satisfaction when shadowed by the COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE drawbacks present in Black Ops 4.
The game still crashes regularly in all modes, usually when the action gets intense and you are fully invested in ducking, dodging, and diving. When a crash happens, all progression gained during that round is lost. Nothing is worse than making it to a top 5 situation in Blackout, specialist achievement requirements met for an unlock, 10 kills under your belt, only to suffer a dreaded “Jaded Mamba” error. It wouldn’t be as bad if we still got to keep our progression but, again, Black Ops 4 fails to meet basic expectations and leaves us wanting more.

OK, the big one. The main contention, BY FAR, I have with Black Ops 4 is the micro transaction and Black Market tier reward schemes. Regardless of what your opinion is on if the rewards are worth it, this is a clearly manipulative system designed to coerce players with more money than sense into spending to achieve higher rewards. In a free to play game, this behavior could be considered acceptable, but Black Ops 4 is not a free to play game. It is disgusting to require players to pay at least $60 for the opportunity to pay more for content that is locked behind additional pay walls.

In conclusion, Activision, you've done it again. You've taken a solid game play experience with a rich history and continued to chip away at everything people love about it in an attempt to make more money. I hope it comes back to bite you in the ass one day.

another problem is the high amount of bugs, glitches and crashes. even now, 4 weeks after release its a technical mess. every second or third lobby kicks you out of the loading screen while loading in to a map. in 6 hours you can also expect a total game crash fatal eror 451518515 or something like that. weapon camos are not attached to your weapons etc. hit detection sometimes feels off, way more than in every previous cods that i played. optimization is ok i guess, cant rly say much because i play with a 1080 on most of the time with 140+fps, but i feel 3-4 maps are worse optimized than the rest.

one of the sadest things however is, they (treyarch) said they do pc balancing seperate from console balancing. but so far we have got all the console balancing on pc too with some small pc exclusive changes. this makes 0 sense and this makes me rly angry. and by all the problems the gamecurrently has in multiplayer, you would expect communication and discussions from the devs right? but no, there basically is no communication from them, or a dev or whatever who talks or discusses things on reddit with the community.they made 500 million dolla in the first 3 days after release, now they are in vacation or something. they promissed to make a good pc port and work more than ever on the pc version, all lies.

oh ya i almost forgot, the microtransactions. this game costs 60 euro, has a 50 euro season pass and additional microtransactions. WTF if you ask me. when the new mutiplayer maps are beeing released and you want to play them, you ahve to pay 50 euro for the pass, because you cant just buy a map pack, you have to buy the whole pass. the afforementioned microtransaction however, are basically not wiorth to buy. cosmetics and other rewards in this game are so low quality and not worth any cent.

It could be a fun game, but they managed to not fix the frustrating **** that plagued every COD game since Modern Warfare 1. And they're left with a piece of **** game that will tire out most people in just a few months, or in my case, weeks. Terrible FPS experience where skill does not matter because it's so horrendously flawed. Expand

A pretty nearly average first person shooter, the base gameplay is what you come to expect from Call of Duty, and is thus, fine, the problems come from the numerous systems that hold it back. After I decided to stop pretending Overwatch was fun, I needed a new FPS in my life, so I figured I would give BO4 a shot. My views are somewhat tinted by my memories of MW2, the last CoD game IA pretty nearly average first person shooter, the base gameplay is what you come to expect from Call of Duty, and is thus, fine, the problems come from the numerous systems that hold it back. After I decided to stop pretending Overwatch was fun, I needed a new FPS in my life, so I figured I would give BO4 a shot. My views are somewhat tinted by my memories of MW2, the last CoD game I played, but my impressions overall have been unfavorable in comparison.

My first problem is the lack of weapon variety, there is a grand total of 2 shotguns, compared the the numerous knock-off brand assault rifles. Likewise, there are 3 pistols, and only a single launcher. There are nearly as many assault rifles as there are secondary weapons total.

The second problem I had was the wide disparity between effectiveness of different types of weapons. Shotguns feel absolutely pitiful, with the more powerful of the two barely being a reliable two shot kill. This is also a pump action shotgun, mind you. There is a pretty good chance that any time I try to kill somebody with a shotgun, if I ambush them and get a shot off, they will have time to locate me, turn to shoot at me, and kill me before I finish pumping the shotgun. Pistols are even worse, with the basic "strife" pistol being useless as anything more than something to attach a knife to, and even then, you are frankly just better off with just the knife, as it will cost you fewer points in the game's budget system and be just as effective.

The third problem is the absolutely atrocious create-a-class system. It has a kind of "budget" system, which is all fine and dandy, but the problem is that the normalized prices of everything costing a point is utter nonsense. I feel like my elite black ops soldier is less well armed than the random mooks you played as in MW2 multiplayer. Why does my pistol cost the same number of points as an assault rifle? Why does a -knife- cost the same amount of points as an assault rifle? There simply needs to be a more reasonable approach to how items are costed in points. Due to the nature of the game, you are highly incentivized to put all of your points into making one really good weapon, therefor you are encouraged to use mostly just jack-of-all-ranges weapons like assault rifles and smgs. God help you if you want to use a secondary weapon and have it actually be useful. To make a shotgun or a pistol useful you have to invest so many points into it that you don't even get the full allotment of perks! Or otherwise if you want to use a weapon like a sniper rifle, which really needs a usable secondary weapon to go with it, your best bet is honestly just to go pick up a dead person's dropped weapon.

The next problem is the egregious monetization problems, but that is pretty much just par for course for activision, and we all know how **** it is so I won't waste your time with that. In its defense, however; I was able to purchase the game cheaper by forgoing the zombie mode that I don't care about. It is a shame I couldn't buy it even cheaper and lose the battle royale mode I likewise care nothing for.

My last problem is the operators. One of the reasons I wanted to get away from games like Overwatch is so that I didn't have to deal with inane character abilities that don't make sense, and make the game worse. Why does the character with the one shot pistol not simply use it all the time? Why do they have to wait an arbitrary amount of time before using it? Before someone points out "it is for game balance," yeah, no **** I get that, it was a joke. Even besides that fact that it makes no sense in universe, it creates that same kind of problem that Overwatch has where you have gameplay designed around these "ults" if you will, that are meant to net you a ton of cheap, free kills. It doesn't feel good to be on the receiving end where sometimes you will just die because one of the opponents just happens to be playing the right character to screw you over particularly.

Slightly less of a problem is the maps, I basically only ever want to play on about two or three of the maps, and if I queue up and get put in line for one of the other maps, I usually just leave unless I get forced into a game in progress. At least there is no punishment for leaving (at least that I know about.)

The lack of a story mode is somewhat disappointing, even if they weren't what you got the game for, it was a nice little bonus.

All in all, it is a bit of a disappointment, I pretty much was just expecting absolutely baseline, no frills attached Call of Duty, and I somehow got less than that. the gameplay is still there, but the weapons are samey and boring in one department, and lack all kinds of variety in others. It is hard to play weird off-the-wall strategies that appeal to me, and you can really only play the standard assault rifle style builds

Un giorno Activision spero impari che IW e' l'unica in grado di far evolvere questa serie. Con Treyarc si stagna sempre nella stessa pozzetta di fango.

I was very disappointed in this game and it flopped badly. I bought this game on release day and I was exicted to play this game because I loved Black Ops 2 as a kid but this game wasn't fun at all.

This is one of the worst game out there, even worse than Battlfront series, its like a Fortnite and PUBG had a child, who is retarted. Only thing good is movement. Sounds are in mono, graphics needs a nuclear computer to work. Maps are like stamps. Don't waste your money.

The USER Score is the REAL one.
This game is absolutely garbage and the only thing thats good is the BR Blackout mode.
There for i gave 3 Points, without Blackout it would be a 0,000000

Its more than obvious that Treyarch just want to get blackout out to everyone, so they can pay 60$ for the game, afterwards then totally rape everyone with skins and microtransactions.
They removed singleplayer, they **** over the core players and they opted to cash in on the newest hype and ruined their franchise in the process.

Everything feels half assed and its all because they clearly have focused 99% on blackout, then copied what they could from Black Ops 3 in terms of operators and art. New maps are HORRIBLE, worst in the series for the most of them, the reused old maps are clearly better than any of the new ones - its lazy to add them instead of making more maps - but its needed since they are a totally difference quality.

Would I recommend it to anyone?
Not in a million years, menus are stupid, reporting system dont work unless youre in a lobby with the offender - recently met players are a **** half of the names dont show and the rest you cant see if you played them today or 3 weeks ago.
Its small things like this that makes the whole thing feel rushed and its obvious they dont care anymore.

Low tickrate servers, terrible optimization for a game that looks like it jumped out of 2009, supbar netcode, broken hit-detection, hitscan weapons, questionable weapon balancing, sniper rifles are useless unless you can quick-scope, maps are small with no verticality, specialists break the game with their abilities.

Blackout is what it is, a BR mode like any other. Zombies could be fun, if it didn't rely on player hosts that kept disconnecting in solo-queue.

Add on top of that the Black Ops pass, because Activision would happily break into your house and nick your TV if it was legal and this is a disaster. There is nothing this game offers that Titanfall 2 doesn't offer better, more polished and at a third of the price. Treyarch's latest blunder is a waste of money for the consumer and nothing else and you'd do well to steer clear of it, when alternatives exist.

Honestly I will just exclude the clearly broken Servers as its regular launch stuff... The game is bland, the graphics are disappointing, the gunplay is bizarre and the opposite to what I used to love about COD. I am not fanboy of this series the last COD I played was BLOPS 1.

I just find it unsatisfying. Assassins Creed odyssey is by far a superior game and makes it really hard for me

Graphs suck, gunplay is shaky, killtime is WAY too long, items are far too obvious and effective. Its not immersive, realistic and to me just bizarrely unsatisfying

Wonderful Build but needs some work when playing blackout the leveling system is crap not going to lie, I'm unable to level up because I'm not making a kill but I can do damage to players and I think that should count cause at this rate I will never level up and when your playing with pros it makes it even harder to level up.

Zombies, multiplayer and battle royale. Black Ops 4 is whole package. With great blackout map, brutal and honest action, it will put all competition in danger. Standard multiplayer suffers from old issues, but is fun enough to guarantee tons of fun. Zombies are brilliant and refreshed with new Rush mod. Lack of single player campaign still hurts though.

It was a risky decision to drop the single player campaign and focus on multiplayer, including battle royale, which seemed like a cynical attempt to jump on the bandwagon. I’m a bit surprised to say that Treyarch did truly great. Black Ops 4 is one of the best online games of 2018 – its shooting mechanics are wonderful, Blackout (the aforementioned take on battle royale) is top-notch and the Zombies mode drifts towards... action RPG.
