Absolutely amazing. I can say this will definitely be a favourite for fans of the series and is by far the best of the lot, but even if you have never liked call of duty - Now is the time to try it out. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. And after all that; The multiplayer is that multiplied by 50.

The single player is as great and even better than the single player in previous call of duty's, but what really sets this apart from the others is the multiplayer play. The perk system is very cool, and the experience system is actually very rewarding and done much better than in similar games like battlefield 2.

Nothing new or innovative. Same gameplay we've seen three times already, just a new setting.

An excellent game, with near-photorealistic graphics and a physics engine that seems realistic and not over-the-top like many current games. With the exception of a few "oh come on!" moments and infinitely spawning-enemies until you "overrun the position" the gameplay is spot on with a reasonable story. The game is worth playing just for the bit where you get to be the gunner on a Spectre.

Great graphics, great playability, good ai, runs perfectly on older computers too. (P4 3.0 Ghz 1.5 GB RAM, ATiX1600). It lets me only pick medium graphic settings, but even with that it has one of the nicest look I ever played with.

My main problem with this game is not so much the engine or the visuals, I mean it lacks a cover button but that's not the end of the world. No my problem is that, a couple of levels notwithstanding, it's so incredibly stupid. No my problem is that, a couple of levels notwithstanding, it's so incredibly stupid. Most of the battles are conducted at a range of about six inches and the enemy for much of the game just spawns out of sight and runs at you, so essentially most of the set piece battles are just like a game of whack-a-mole. Any sense of realism to the plot or story goes right out the window because the fights are just silly, at one point I was sent to rescue a tank, during which mission I blew up four enemy tanks and gunned down about a million people. How can I give a rat's arse about a plot to save the crew of one tank when I've just wasted enough people to fill a football stadium? Honestly I can't see how this game is rating so highly because in terms of gameplay it's a step down in evolution from Rainbow Six: Vegas, in fact I'd say R6: Vegas has more going for it. Finally I'd also just say I resent the fact this is the most expensive PC game I've ever bought, with an RRP much higher than usual, and it's also one of the shortest single player games, and it's not even like it took much effort to make considering it's not even using a new engine. There are cynics out there who would lead you to believe that this game just not be worth $50. Technically, he would be right as no game is worth $50. But, if you want a deep and dynamic game with visually stunning graphics and incredible sound, then this game takes the sting out of forking over your hard-earned money. First, the criticism: SP is a bit bland and linear. You are introduced to COD5's wide range of weaponary and game style, so it's worth checking out. The graphics (sorry XP users, you are missing too much here) are simply breathtaking. Personally, I feel it takes the cake over Crysis. COD4 brings us the same revolutionary sound as did it predecesors. It is lifelike and not-to-overbearing. The meat and potatoes from COD4, however, goes beyond it's glitter. it lies in the MP mode. Revamped from previous releases, COD4 allows a user to retain persistent stats and awarding upgrades along the way. The ONLY issue is that ranking up seems to be a bit too easy. You can earn challenge points along the way, accellerating your way to the top. The casual gamer will find this a perfect pace, but for COD4 diehard, we will all be 5-stars from this point on. Bottom line, don't dismiss the occassional critic whom basks in his/hers on glory of being able to sway a vote. Take it from a hard-core gaming veteran, this is THE game to own this year. Expand

I loved this game. The singleplayer does leave a bit to be desired but the multi-player aspect more than makes up for it. Finally a reason to play online shooters again!

The game feels like a professional mod for Call of Duty 2. The lack of a cover system makes the game feel incredibly out of date (it's also an insult as you can CLEARLY see the enemy taking cover). the amount of enemies you face is utterly ridiculous. and the painfully short length of the singleplayer tops it all off.

Nice game but it's very disapointing to see that the rifles and small arms haven't really changed that much in 60+years (small clips and slow to reload) these are modern weapons??good but not great!

Yet another mindless corridor shooter. Criminally short, zero interaction with your squadmates. Doors that can't be opened. Windows that can't be broken. 1 metre high boxes that you just can't quite muster the strength to climb over. Worthless drivel.

Kudos to Infinity Ward for this EXCELLENT shooter !! You guys have lifted up to the FANS expectations and more.. A MUST buy for all PC Gamers. Shame on EA (full of empty promises to FANS, treating us like fools) for the same over-hyped reiterations time and again. (Pacific A$$ault, Airborne, C$C 3...)

Awesome game, crisp graphics, fantastic gameplay. The only downside is that when playing it on veteran there are some spots that you have to replay over and over to get past. Still 10/10 from me though.

It's probably better in the morning instead of coffee. Also, the seen where you are the president getting beaten and taking a ride through a part of a Middle Eastern city that's a terrorist stronghold is incredible, it's honestly like nothing I've ever experienced or seen. Hordes of men shooting guns in the air, frightened citizens running for cover, then you get to the compound... well, maybe I've already said too much. Ported from the 360, this game has small playing areas and no quick save. The game is short and the higher difficulty levels just make the game very frustrating rather than honing your skill. The storyline is very drab. The whole game is slick, with excellent cutscnenes, but the effort would have been much better spent elsewhere. Comparable to the first two releases in name only. The arm movement while running is too pronounced. You get the perception that you are weighted down and do not have the nimbleness of Call of Duty II or III multiplayer. Though the single-player lacks length, the multiplayer should keep you invested in COD4 for the long winter. This is a truly fantastic multiplayer offering that's as deep as any other online game available.
  3. It’s absolutely relentless in its assault on the senses and never lets up until the last trigger has been squeezed. The multiplayer is even better, with the perks and weapon upgrades acting as a balance to the lack of vehicles.
