    Holds up extremely well. The story is memorable, music score good and you'll not forget the characters. The guns and location feel realistic. As of every call of duty, the story is short, but oh god, it's amazing and keeps you glued to the monitor

    As for me, I don't want it to end for part 3. I want to have a story on what Captain Price will be next.

    Where else will he go to battle after Makarov has died. and one of my other favorites are the weapons in the game. It is realistic and a wide variety of ammunition, using the same type of gun and opening up new perspectives of war.

    The infinite ward team is a team that I thought of the best in game development of this series Otherwise, I would not be a fan of this game and always follow. I would like to encourage this team to continue developing this game and asked to focus on the current theme or other war but one of the things that I rarely do is the multiplayer mode. It is not very stable and looking for a server room for a long time It might be a point to blame.    … Expand

    It's a cheap game, if you have free time you should play the singleplayer.

    This is it. The game that started it all. I have so many good things to say about this game that I won't even be able to put it in 5000 characters.
    This game is 100% a great game, I would rate it 10/10 if it wasn't for the fact that I encountered a few bugs in the game.
    But other than that, I would definitely recommend Call of Duty 4 as a must-play game.

    An amazing instalment to the series. I found the game enjoyable through and through. The campaign was enjoyable, though one mission somewhat annoyed me. The cut-scenes also looked really amazing. I would recommend this instalment to new and old players of the series.

    One of the best shooters ever!
    A wonderful plot that reproduces the entire tragedy of the war. And the gameplay is just crazy and beautiful! Each mission was performed qualitatively and professionally.
    This game is immortal! And one of the best games in the Call of Duty series!

    i love the multiplayer but the single player is kinda decent despite the good writing i think it would have heavily benefited from hitmarkers so that getting kills feel more satisfying

    Peak of the series for me. Engaging and dramatic single player campaign with multiple shocking moments that felt impactful. Lots of mission variety with a number of unique and well-executed concepts. Overall incredible campaign. Multiplayer is fun too but not as memorable.

    Great game with excellent visuals. They did a really good job recreating the chaotic feel of battle. This game is also pretty realistic in that you can't just run around spraying and survive. You really have to think about where you run before you do. My only gripe is that the single player campaign is a little too short.

    Call of Duty 4 is a great FPS with a good graphics engine that will run well on a 7600GT or ATi 1800 GTO with a good single core processor or a mid dual core processor.
    The single player experience is great, it has a great story and short cinematics that will really help to get you in the story although the combat and objectives gets repetitive.

Honestly it is better on the PC than on ANY console for the fact you can get more than just 16(I think max on 360/ps3) players, up to 54 I have seen, The reason I don't give it a 10 though is that it is supposed to be a "next-gen" game but while playing I was expecting a lot more use of physics but was This is a GREAT game with some very good single player and multiplayer action.     All around good game. Great graphics, like the SP campaign (especially the AC130 Gunship scene). MP is fun but is already getting old. Thank God for servers that carry custom maps or else I'd hang it up.

    The singleplayer obviously isn't worth the money - too short, with a laughable storyline, and despite all the modern stuff the "warfare", it seems, hasn't changed much since WWII, eh? It's still fun, but I expected more. However the MP will blast the hell out of you. Simply second to none.

In Modern Warfare, you get the feeling you have less ability to control your fate. You are not as agile, and can be mortally wounded more easily. In fact, the replay is needed because quite often you don't know what hit you. In addition, a player cannot randomly open doors, climb fences, or console with our fellow soldiers. It is apparent that the developers were attempting photorealism, but failed to recognize the true nature of realism. I realize the developers were striking a balance between high-end PC's and low-end PC's. Nevertheless, the high end PC's should be offered the option of differentiating their respective gaming rig over their mid or low end predecessors. I only hope that the developer, in the future, reconsiders their short-sighted approach to designing games and rather embarks on an epic journey to exceed our expectations.     Single player is absolutely fantastic. Good story telling, fun gameplay, and the various levels are very different in pace and tone, so that it doesn't get too stale. Highly recommended, if only for that. Multiplayer, on the other hand, leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. The maps are too small, there's no teamwork whatsoever, and you're better off shooting with an Single player is absolutely fantastic. Everything is deadly accurate at extreme range and kills in one or two shots. Furthermore, things like airstrikes and chopper support are awarded not by team related objectives but by kill streaks of a single player. Thus, it actively rewards fighting like a sissy, and punishes any who would do something risky to attempt to complete any of the objectives in the multiplayer objective modes. It essentially amounts to a whole lot of people camping, paying no attention to the various points to be captured, etc. Frustrating as hell.… Expand

At first the game play seems to be very ambitious but then after a while it feels limited with the small maps, limited team functions, and the default settings for spectate-only mode are crippled. Its not that the game is bad, but I find BF2 and BF2142 to be much more ambitious and satisfying multiplayer FPS games. CoD4 tries to keep things simple and do what it does well, and it succeeds in that. I find that after a while, the highly repetitive gameplay grows tiresome. The game clearly borrows much from Counterstike, a game I don't care much for. Also some of the maps I don't care for because they focus only on quick reflexes and almost no thinking thus the shallow experience. Also even on servers with a low ping like 20 or 30ms, the other players jerk around as they move, not moving smoothly. Its better than Counter Strike, about the same as TF2, but not as good as UT3 or Crysis and certainly not as good as BF2/2142. There is much to like in CoD4 multiplayer, if you like simplicity and repetition, and I mean that in a good way (not great way). It's certainly one of the new top PC online FPS games for 2007. Definitely check it out. Don't expect a huge and deep online experience in CoD4. (I've been playing FPS games since, well, 1981 - Battlezone)… Expand

    The game is beautiful and exciting at first, but after a month or so it is terribly boring. A huge map pack may just do the trick to fix these issues, but even then the maps need some work.

    Singleplayer is awesome, but multiplayer lacks some stuff. new maps still have to be released while the system isn't very open to modders. it also features some of the greatest unballance ever: He is owning, so you know what, lets give him a flying autoturret or a spawnbomber.

Graphics are stunning, all the buildings look great and the maps very divers. the only few down sides for me was that the frame rate at some moments is not very stable especialy when there is a lot of shooting going on against the enemies and in normal and easy mode you can finish the game within 15 hours, wich is not much for such a pricy game (50 Eu). And for me Absolutely a great game. Graphics are stunning, all the buildings look great and the maps very divers. the only few down sides for me was that the frame rate at some moments is not very stable especialy when there is a lot of shooting going on against the enemies and in normal and easy mode you can finish the game within 15 hours, wich is not much for such a pricy game (50 Eu). And for me the multiplayer version is not working at all due to a download error with steam. other then that the game rocks, good AI, gameplay, graphics,etc.… Expand

    VERY good game. I loved it. Great graphics everything. Although, the bad thing is only 4 hours of Single Player mode. So after that, you do single player again in a harder level or play multiplayer.

Great graphics, great gameplay, greatly optimised for older hardware even ( a tip for those with older machines - three main performance killers - soft smoke, shadows and specular map. Specular map is I gotta admit, it's pretty damn good. Felt like propaganda at times and did annoy me with respawning enemies from time to time, but everything else is really worth those few annoyances. Great graphics, great gameplay, greatly optimised for older hardware even ( a tip for those with older machines - three main performance killers - soft smoke, shadows and specular map. Specular map is the last one you'd want to turn off, but if nothing else helps it is well worth it). Game just feels really polished, which I can say about very few games. Nobody says it should be a sandbox-style game, but a bit freedom would be nice. The game is a non-stop action- first you are fighting Russian Nationalists in central plains ofAn exciting game with well-built storyline, characters and action. The other problem are graphics- they are not bad, but i really expected more from Infinity Ward. The textures are quite weak as well. In all, this game is more made for Multiplayer mode, rather than the Singleplayer.… Expand

    Great game! Especially the Campaign. I was not too impressed with the online, and the fact that every 10 - 15 minutes it lags at high action places if you have a older video card. But over all, it is recommended by me!

    Great game, a classic of the call of duty, still is a run N gun though, better than anything that this franchise has came out after this, I would highly recommended this for those who dont like to be strategic. The 2 new call of duty games, warfare 2, and black ops are rip offs. Dont buy them, it is a support of corporate EVIL! This is a classic, fun respectable game. The campaign was kindGreat game, a classic of the call of duty, still is a run N gun though, better than anything that this franchise has came out after this, I would highly recommended this for those who dont like to be strategic. The 2 new call of duty games, warfare 2, and black ops are rip offs. Dont buy them, it is a support of corporate EVIL! This is a classic, fun respectable game.     The starting weapon (M16, MP5, M249, M40A3) is so great and damaging that some Rank-55 players prefer to use them rather than those fancy M60, Barrett 50 cal and P90. All the Rank-1 perks are also always implemented on at least one of the class; they're the basic foundation of pure ownage (damage, accuracy and extra bullet penetration). Extra ammos? And what's more, each mission contained replayability: a LOT of thought had obviously gone into each mission bloc such that many of them are really enjoyable the tenth and twentieth time.     Singleplayer was good, I enjoyed that but wasn't that shocked by what I was seeing. Multiplayer is also good, very Addictive and while some are poor there are some great Maps. A decent FPS but I have seen better before

    Unfortunately, the last good Call of Duty was also the first good Call of Duty. The singleplayer is an action-packed ride but the multiplayer isn't what its really cut out to be. Sure, its addictive, but it gets boring really fast. However, it is highly recommended.

    Single player is good and the MP is pretty cool, except for the airstrikes which are just too over-powered and make the game a lot less fun. Maybe that is because I never manage to get a kill-streak.

    The game that changed the FPS scene in the past 5 years.
    A great single player adventure and amazing arcade multiplayer action.
    Very enjoyable and fun.
    The sequels get worse by the year not bringing anything new to the table so if you played this one you have played them all.

    Don't bother with the sequels and not with MW3 that was just released.

    this was the last good Call of Duty title for PC. Call of Duty UNITED OFFENSIVE still remains as the king of multiplayer followed by CoD4 and CoD2. the 2nd and 3rd MW are NOT FOR PC. so this is the last real CoD for PC.

    Call of Duty 4 is a giant leap foward in the series. The previous games were way ahead of their time but Modern Warfare is the combined result of all of the previous games. The graphics are wow factor, the story is utterly convincing, the weapon range has grown exponentially, the characters are a joy to play alongside and the multiplayer is addictive although not very realistic.     Played this game for the first time after trying some of the more recent COD titles. I must say, this one beats all of the others aside from maybe World at War since I'm a sucker for those older weaponry. The graphics are great compared to the recent COD games, and the gameplay is very fun.     Modern Warfare is a fantastic game and a true classic. Both the single and multi players are exceptional. My breakdown is as follows:

    1. Graphics: 8/10 - excellent for its time
    2. Gameplay: 8/10 - great controls, and satisfying gameplay
    3. Story: 7/10 - interesting story, but relatively simple.
    4. Multiplayer: 8/10 - competitive and fun

    Overall, an excellent game.

    This is a brilliant game and it very enjoyable. Finally the setting has changed so no more WW2 but the beginning of WW3. The characters are also great and overall it is a thrilling experience.

    Great fun. A bit shallow compared to the Battlefield series of games in my opionion since there are no vehicles, but obviously, it doesn't have that ambition. Great maps, good fun and nice atmosphere. Pretty bad sounds though, especially the gun sounds sound very digitally constructed. All in all a great game.

    Quite dated, for sure. But, personally, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare stands as the best title from the Modern Warfare saga. Anyone would love a remaster of this masterpiece. Enough said.

    -The characters are pretty impersonable unlike other FPS games like Killzone 2, Bad Company 2 and Wolfenstein

    Great technical aspect, sound. To be in Prypiat was a incomparable feeling, great atmosphere. But the story is too short, all the tyme we can hear the same soundtrack, every time, except for little sections. A great shooter, the best COD, but not my favorite shooter.

    Modern Warfare was a great innovative shooter back then. I still remember playing it with my mates back in the day. The campaign was the best and I loved the online mode.

    50000 people used to play it, now it's a ghost town.

    One of the best CoD games, it pioneered the CoD franchise. Multiplayer was good at its time. The chernobyl mission is great. And this game has many memorable quotes and characters. Price, Soap, Gaz, Nikolai, Griggs we will never forget.

    Cool shooter for a couple of evenings, good graphics and epic atmospheric gameplay with instant immersion. The only negative is Activision, 15 bucks for a 2007 game that takes 3 hours to complete, so you had to go pirated.

    Nice story! But world at war gives the real thrill of old days ! And what more, its banal when you re create world war themes after there is a world at war ... world at war 10! Modern warfare 8 is enough!

    Undoubtedly the game that marked me the most in the "Call of Duty" series. The graphics for the time it was released were very good, the gameplay was very good and all the scenarios were immersive.

    Of all the shooting game campaigns I've played, the "No Russian" operation was the one that impressed me the most in my entire life and I can remember some details to this day.

    The beginning of an era... Very good game. I particularly prefer the sequences, but MW1 still is one of the best campaigns Call of Duty can offer.

Furthermore, Things Like Airstrikes And Chopper Support Are Awarded Not By Team Related Objectives But By Kill Streaks Of A Single Player. Thus, It Actively Rewards Fighting Like A Commando, And Punishes Any Who Would Do Something Risky To Attempt To Complete Any Of The Objectives In The Multiplayer Objective Modes.     Story is really great and action packed. There is iconic characters like Cpt. Price, Cpt. Macmillan, Gaz, Nikolai etc...Some people say it's heavily scripted but don't matter for me. Cause it uses them perfectly. And who can forget All ghillied up? One of the best levels in gaming.

    Didn't and couldn't try mp so I can't talk for that.

    (Campaign only, no spoilers) The gameplay is smooth and the grafic of the remastered version are very nice. The story is rather complicated but not really deep (it's a FPS game duh) so I would play it several times to fully comprehend it.

    It’s absolutely relentless in its assault on the senses and never lets up until the last trigger has been squeezed. The multiplayer is even better, with the perks and weapon upgrades acting as a balance to the lack of vehicles.
