    Butcher is a living relic, a callback to the days when being gritty and macabre was a goal unto itself. But make no mistake: beneath that gruff exterior is a thoughtfully crafted game.

    Brutal retro massacre. Bloody and bloody difficult, desperately unoriginal, but entertaining in the core– and this is all what matters.

    It does a good job of recreating the atmosphere of those early 90s shooters despite having a very different play style. This title is geared toward a niche market and as such is not going to be a must play for everyone, but for those who love old school ultra violent and ultra challenging games, this is not one to miss. For fans of retro games, everything about Butcher screams 1993.

    Butcher is definitely not for everyone its technical state is nothing to be proud of. On the other hand, it offers high difficulty and big amount of masochist fun, that you will not find just anywhere. [Issue #270]

    This game has to little to offer in a variety of categories. Mechanics, fun and pixels. Just a few more pixels would've helped. Also IThis game has to little to offer in a variety of categories. Also I personally think it's too difficult as well - I get that you're trying to be 'hardcore', but for me, and seemingly a big part of the people who gave this game a shot, this just killed the fun within minutes of playing the game, seeing as only 30% of players on Steam complete the first level. I would've preferred if it would've been more easy to get into and then got gradually harder instead of being frustrating in the first level.… Full Review »
