Fantastic graphics and | enjoy the humour. I just found the constant repetivie monitoring and management of your oxygen too stressful and I ended up just not enjoying the game. I get that it's an integral aspect to the game but It's like one big water level, and no-one likes water levels.

It took some time to get used to it, clunkier and more stressful than Subnautica, but it was fun. Initially. Then Act 2 started and the gameplay started to degrade more and more with each chapter. For the last missions, I had to force myself to finish. Who designed them? And why?

Breathedge is a fun little survival game in the vein of Subnautica but with an even sharper wit. The meta humor is really on point and I found myself actually LOLing at many scenes. The meta humor is really on point and I found myself actually LOLing at many scenes. Overall I had fun with this game but are there some very simple tweaks that would have made this game more enjoyable and less tedious. I was teetering in 6-7 range for a final score until I was building today and frustrated by some of the forced mechanics. When I repeatedly kept failing to build the requirements needed to construct a "rocket bike" and turned to Googling and the Wiki I said to myself no.. "I shouldn't have to do this to play a game. The game should tell me what I need to do." Too many devs get lazy and know that players will turn to the internet to find answer that aren't found in game. For instance: instead of a "Wrong Module" message when trying to build a component, how about a "Transportation Module Needed" And on top of the module positioning is apparently important but you'll only find that out from comment posts and subreddits. A little text in the encyclopedia would avoid this confusion but the databanks are aimed more at being funny than being helpful. Like nowhere in the item description does it tell you that the Engineer's Spacesuit will protect you from heat. That would be helpful information. But I guess the internet is for that.
Why certain components can only be constructed on certain modules is strange. It's like the game is forcing you to build all of the modules in game which needlessly prolongs play time and resource collecting.... which is exactly the kind of game design that this game pokes fun at constantly. There's other strange design decisions that turn the game into a slow fetch simulator: Aluminum can only be found in one part of the game map instead on any of the hundreds of asteroids that are floating around with zero resources on them. Many of the missions require you to go back to your base to craft something to complete the mission instead of solving it 'on site' which can be bad if you put your base on the wrong part of the map. If you built in a bad spot, or make a mistake, your can deconstruct base parts but don't get all of your resources back so time for more fetching. And resources seem limited. So if I wanted to to build a truly impressive base, most ingredients will become very hard to find quickly. Another big complaint that would have been an easy fix: there isn't enough storage in the game and one of the few inventory systems in the game, the suitcase, is crazy expensive to build, and when you drop it on the floor it can be kicked across the room and mixed up because they can't be labeled.
It's too bad the devs just stopped with this game that, in my opinion, just needed a few tweaks to make it truly great. There's some fun gameplay there, between the long stretches of floating through the void.

In a nutshell, Breathedge is a Subnautica in space. While it’s not as good as the Unknown Worlds Entertainment’s masterpiece and would benefit from a better story, it’s still a solid survival game, real pretty and spiced up with absurd humor. [05/2021, p.58]

While there’s some comfort in the repetitive routine of mining and seeking refuge back in your space liner, as you gradually chip away at your objectives, its endless gags and space jokes do get tedious very quickly.

Awesome when it’s about visual interface and immersion, but it has several design mistakes that slow down game’s rate. Luckily, losing oneself floating through the space it’s worth it while we unlock extras. It’s also a video game with many doses of humor and easy to keep players hooked to the main plot.
