YouBorderlands the sequel is a great installment to the franchise, but it suffers from living under the shadow of its predecessor. People complain about how its so similar to borderlands 2. To be honest is that such a bad thing? This game should not be bashed for knowing its own identity. So yes borderlands the presequel plays like its game of the year predecessor with a few extra things. You get two types of vehicles with different loadouts. Gun battles have been taken from the ground to in the air in zero gravity where you can slam down on opponent's.(simultaneously shoot them in the face if you please) The presequel also boasts the best cast of vault hunters the franchise has ever had. Each character represents a different angle to the story. The fact that each character reacts slightly differently to dialogue brings a tonal change to the story. Athena is clearly the main character because to story is told through her, so theres a little more narrative when playing as athena. Claptrap brings a certain darkness and sadness to the story especially at the end of "claptraps claptastic voyage" Wilhelm and Nisha are made out to be clear bad guys seeming to agree with what ever jack decides to do. There is a great origins story that was told in this game accept it was broken into pieces for DLC purposes. Claptastic voyage is the true ending to the game and should have been included in full version. Being a borderlands title i expected more DLC with the season pass. More origin stories could have been told through DLC Like how Wilhelm became the badass we fight in borderlands 2. How does jack get nisha her own town, and last but not least what happens to Athena after all this. These topics are things as a fan would pay to see. Borderlands to presequel is a good installment in the series but it does not push things forward. It attempts to add more depth to the characters but its cut short. This game has alot of replay value like the other borderlands but doesnt live up to the legend of borderlands 2. As a fan i expected more DLC granted "claptastic voyage" was great ,it left me wanting more. This game is about two DLC packs short of being a perfect 10. I want to see the aftermath stories of each character, especially the origins of wilhelm and how he became a robot. Expand

It's alright. It's essentially more Borderlands. If you liked previous Borderlands titles, then you're in the right place. If you have never played a Borderlands game, I'd suggest playing one of the previous titles before you buy this. If you don't like any of the previous Borderlands games, then why are you even reading this?

The story is better than that of borderlands 2 in my opinion, especially the development of Jack. The playable character are each extremely well done and the upgrade trees add a lot of variety to cater for most play styles. My main issue is with the mission layouts: They stay very much like the previous games with objectives being very far apart at points, and there is a lot of backtracking! However, the enemy variety throughout levels makes each story and side mission varied as do the locals. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This new borderlands game is totally worth it in my opinion. People complaining about the UI being the same as well as pacing problems and so on make no sense what so ever. You can cleary recognize all those issues in the gameplay shown before the games release. This game for huge borderlands fans like myself is very good. This new borderlands game has a good story and does a great job telling what happened before The first borderlands and the second (This game is placed in between both.)

I do wish the UI was altered atleast a little bit, but the UI being the same isn't that big of a deal, content is. Pre-order bonus was pretty fun, but I wish there was a little more to it. They also already annouced that 4 DLC's will be coming out for this and who knows what else they will add in the future. There are tons of new guns and the combat is very well done, I have fun just killing eneimies tryting to get XP. Now that I'm lvl 50 I liek to join other's games and help them out on the campaign. This borderlands is the ony one I could do True Vault hunter mode on and enjoy every bit of the story once again.

Side quests add so much to the game and there is a good chunk of side quests to do while doing the main story. It took me 18 hours to complete the whole game (Main story and side quests.) The Stingray vehicle is my personal favorite vehicle in all of the borderlands, it is very fun to drive and you won't want to get off it. The new Cryo weapons that freeze enemies are really addicting to use, There's just something about freezing an enemy and shattering their remains in ice shards that satisfy me.

The Low gravity is fun to use all over the map to make epic jumps to get loot chests that seem like they are impossible to get to as well as jump pads that boost you high in the air. The game now has O2 kits or Oz kits that give you a supply of oxygen to use a second boost or "Double Jump." Although they help get you places faster the Oxygen will get lower everytime you use it and will replenish when you activate an Oxygen bubble or go into a building that is protected with an Oxygen door. AND WHO DOESN'T LIKE THE BUTT SLAM. The butt slam feature is something I use in almsot every battle, Same elemental effect as guns there is corrosive, cryo, burning, and shock ones you can get and upgrade. The butt slam is connected to your Oz kits which you can upgrade and get a higher supply of Oxygen to use.

There's also a new feature in the game you can use called the "Grinder" This will let you try numerous recipes of 3 wepaons that you put in the grinder. If it's a recipe press "Q" to grind it and it will pop out a new weapon from the 3 weapons you put in. (You can get a legendary from the grinder by putting 2 legendary guns in and 1 purple. Creating a legendary gun in the grinder is an achievement" While using the grinder, what ever weapon type is on the bottom bos (3rd gun) will be the weapon type you get. So if it's a pistol on the bottom you will grind together a pistol etc.

P.S. The inventory bug is in this game as well.

Overall, I give this game an 8 out of 10, Pacing issues as we all know, same UI, and inventory bug.

I put 412 hours in Borderlands 2 and let me tell you, pound for pound, this title is no less fun than Borderlands 2. The gameplay hasn't been demoted, there are new enemies and types of weapons. I definitely had several "woah" moments in the game when I was flabbergasted by the quality of the gameplay and the scale of the fights. The gameplay (like BL2) is amazing, fastpaced and exhilarating. It took me 23.5 hours to beat the story, without finishing most of the side quests. I also didn't explore some fairly big parts of the map, where those unfinished sidequests could have led me too.

The dialogue was funny for me, I definitely laughed out loud more than a couple of times. Each Vault Hunter has their unique dialogue when addresing NPC's, so i'm sure more laughs await on subsequent playthroughs. (I hear Claptrap's dialogue is especially funny.)

I paid 35 Euros for the game on the from an online retailer. I will replay the game with all the characters, not only on normal mode but also on True Vault Hunter Mode. I know there is a minimum of 150 hours of gameplay waiting for me. I think it is worth the price. As someone who greatly enjoyed Borderlands 2, this title definitely ticked of all the boxes for me. I know the game isn't as vast as Borderlands 2 or has as much content, but did Borderlands 1 have as much content either?

A solid 8/10 for me. I'm really glad I picked up the game and I know i'll be coming back many times more.

This is Borderlands, to the core, and a great credit to the franchise.

Low gravity combat, lasers, cryo effects, both new and re-imagined enemies, and a metric crap ton of that classic Borderlands humor we have come to love so much. Love the new characters, and ... you can play as Claptrap. Yeah ... lol. I enjoy seeing the story leading up to BL2, and some of the side mission stories

I enjoy seeing the story leading up to BL2, and some of the side mission stories are cool as well. Seeing Jack be ... nice. The birth of the robot army. But, I will stop there, no spoilers.

As I write this, I see a small flood of spam in the reviews, people hating on the game for various reasons. Everyone is most definitely entitled to their opinions, but a lot of what I am reading makes no sense. This is NOT a DLC or expansion, it's a full on game in it's own right.

People saying the humor is lacking, really? Have they actually played it? The humor is spot on for the BL series. Complaining that some weapon designs and textures were the same as in BL2. Well of course it is, it takes place right before BL2.

People complaining about the $60 price tag, and while I am have been a long time critic of overpriced games, there is most defiantly $60 worth of game here. If you go for the full Borderlands experience, it's going to take you dozens of hours to complete, per character. Like all of the other BL games, we have coop as well. So I am not sure what people are complaining about.

Oh well, I guess some people just really like to complain. They hate it when you change something, they hate it when you leave it the same, sometimes you just can't win. Borderlands have become one of the largest, most popular, and most recognized franchises in the gaming industry. So it's expected to attract some hate.

Rest assured, it's unwarranted. If you truly enjoy Borderlands, then you will enjoy The Pre-Sequel.

None-the-less borderlands is still a great formula and the gameplay is hella fun and interesting. I will say, however, if you didn't like the past Borderlands, this game will do nothing to dissuade you. It has a new world with new areas and is honestly only a few hours longer than Tiny Tinas DLC in Borderlands 2. Some people have been calling it lazy, which I certainly can't disagree with.

That being said, the game is still really fun. The new characters are really cool, the story still has its snarky dialogue and oddball missions, and the new items/weapons they added are fun. It's not a short game--and of course you have TVHM (they're version of game-plus)--and DLCs are on the way, so I don't at all feel cheated by it.
