Greetings fellow gamers! Today, I'm here to share my thoughts on "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel," a game that, in my honest opinion, falls a tad short compared to its predecessors. Greetings fellow gamers! Today, I'm here to share my thoughts on "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel," a game that, in my honest opinion, falls a tad short compared to its predecessors. Now, before we dive in, let me assure you that my quirky style and love for the franchise will remain intact throughout this review!

Gameplay-wise, I couldn't shake the feeling that "The Pre-Sequel" resembled more of an expansion pack to "Borderlands 2" rather than a standalone installment. It brought back familiar gameplay mechanics and graphics, which aren't necessarily a bad thing, mind you. It's like how "Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" complemented "Assassin's Creed 2" but with laser guns and a fresh set of characters. There were some additional features like lower gravity, which didn't quite tickle my fancy, but hey, tastes differ!

Now, let's talk about performance. Things were running smoothly for me until I switched to an AMD 5600 XT graphics card, which should have been a solid choice for the game. However, Borderlands decided to give me a "poopy" experience (yes, I said it) and started acting up. If you encounter performance issues, I strongly suggest addressing them immediately, and if all else fails, don't hesitate to request a refund. It's a bit of a lottery with this title, unfortunately.

Onto the brighter side, one of the shining stars of "The Pre-Sequel" was Handsome Jack - his character was exceptionally well-portrayed, and the jokes delivered some hearty chuckles. The storyline, though intermittently engaging, managed to keep me interested. I must say, Athena and Claptrap were the real showstoppers, adding that extra flair to the overall experience. And let's not forget the epic last boss battle! It hands down earned its spot as the best boss in the series so far (disregarding "Borderlands 3," which came after this title).

All in all, "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel" comes across as a decent prologue-like expansion to "Borderlands 2." If lady luck smiles upon you and it cooperates seamlessly with your PC, you might find some enjoyment here. However, being the dedicated fan that I am, I couldn't help but have higher expectations for this game.

In conclusion, while "The Pre-Sequel" may not reach the soaring heights of its predecessors, it still has its moments of fun and charm. So, if you're a die-hard Borderlands enthusiast like me, you'll probably want to give it a shot. Just remember to cross your fingers for a smooth performance and enjoy the quirky adventure!

    Happy vault hunting, fellow gamers!

It is a fun little spin-off of Borderlands 2 which acts as a backstory for the events of Borderlands 2 itself. There is not much to this game really, the gameplay is as good and addicting as Borderlands 2, the story isn't as good as Borderlands 2 though there are still some good moments to be experienced and some interesting characters to meet. Overall this game is a pretty fun game to complete.

Expand

Yes, this game draws heavily onto Borderlands 2. Yes, it could have been a Boderlands 2 DLC. Yet I think it is a great addition to the franchise, and add gameplay mechanics (low gravity and 0² level mainly) that enhance the classic Borderlands gunplay.

Overall if you enjoyed the first two Borderlands then you will probably enjoy this as well. The game play is the same fun formula with some low gravity fun thrown in. If you want to see how Jack became the depraved person from Borderlands 2 this game is for you. The game is solid and familiar not breaking new ground but doing it's own thing very well.

My few gripes would be the level design later in the game is tedious bordering on atrocious. Just a lot harder to figure out where the game wants you to go than it should be. There were a few small glitches as well such as enemies being able to shoot me through walls at certain points as well as one ramp that wouldn't lower until I exited the game and reloaded it which kept me from advancing. I also had one quest that failed on me after reloading the game even though it wasn't time based and I had to restart it. None of these are game breaking and most are simply anoying for the brief periods they happened but at the time of writing this the game has been out for years and these have gone unfixed which is a shame.

The Linux build overall was pretty decent. I had no crashes at all. The performance was alright but not great. The game only utilizes one CPU core on Linux which makes it very CPU limited. My frame rate was usually 80+ at 1080P with max settings and FXAA but it did have dips into the 40's every so often. Officially AMD GPUs aren't even supported on the Linux version so I guess it could be worse.

Despite the quirks and issues the game is a lot of fun and retains the good gameplay that other Borderlands have had. I recommend it to Borderlands fans specifically but FPS fans in general should enjoy it.

    My system I used:

    AMD Ryzen 5 2600X | 16GB DDR4-3000 CL15 | MSI RX 580 8GB Gaming X | Mesa 18.1 | Samsung 850 Evo 250GB | Solus 3 | Kernel 4.16.14-75.current

Borderlands Presequel... ¿Valdrá la pena comprarlo?
    +Historia Buena y Chistosa

To be honest is that such a bad thing? This game should not be bashed for knowing its own identity. So yes borderlands the presequel plays like its game of the year predecessor with a few extra things. You get two types of vehicles with different loadouts. Gun battles have been taken from the ground to in the air in zero gravity where you can slam down on opponent's.(simultaneously shoot them in the face if you please) The presequel also boasts the best cast of vault hunters the franchise has ever had. Each character represents a different angle to the story. The fact that each character reacts slightly differently to dialogue brings a tonal change to the story. Athena is clearly the main character because to story is told through her, so theres a little more narrative when playing as athena. Claptrap brings a certain darkness and sadness to the story especially at the end of "claptraps claptastic voyage" Wilhelm and Nisha are made out to be clear bad guys seeming to agree with what ever jack decides to do. There is a great origins story that was told in this game accept it was broken into pieces for DLC purposes. Claptastic voyage is the true ending to the game and should have been included in full version. Being a borderlands title i expected more DLC with the season pass. More origin stories could have been told through DLC Like how Wilhelm became the badass we fight in borderlands 2. How does jack get nisha her own town, and last but not least what happens to Athena after all this. These topics are things as a fan would pay to see. Borderlands to presequel is a good installment in the series but it does not push things forward. It attempts to add more depth to the characters but its cut short. This game has alot of replay value like the other borderlands but doesnt live up to the legend of borderlands 2. As a fan i expected more DLC granted "claptastic voyage" was great ,it left me wanting more. This game is about two DLC packs short of being a perfect 10. I want to see the aftermath stories of each character, especially the origins of wilhelm and how he became a robot Expand

An interquel that reuses the engine and assets of Borderlands 2, Pre-Sequel nonetheless manages to reinvent the series tried-and-true, shoot, loot, rinse and repeat gameplay primarily by the introduction of low gravity- moving around on Elpis and the Helios spacestation is infinately easier then being stuck in Pandoran gravity. It brings to mind the low-gravity mutator of Unreal Tournament. Combat additions of cryo-element weapons and lasers are also welcome. I had a lot of fun as Athena the Gladiator, whose elemental tree gives her a hefty punch and whose Aspis denies a huge percentage of incoming damage, giving her incredible survivablity that the entirety of the Borderlands 2 cast lacked- most egregiously Salvador, who in the course of playing I spent an inordinate amount of time as with my face in the dirt waiting to be revived. I had a chance to sample the other characters, including Doppleganger Jack and Aurelia but most notably Wilhelm the Enforcer, whose autonomous drones are a big help in combat. The game is well-written for what it is, though if you are bothered by an excess of memes and references then it will rub you in much the same uncomfortable way that BL2 did. The combat in pre-sequel, I would say, the most refined in the series, and actually feels reasonably balanced, but the level design leaves much to be desired- the mazelike decks of Helios station in particular left me dazed and vexed, and had I not had my friends to guide me I would surely have needed to look at a guide to find my way around. The moon also has its share of navigational difficulties, with twisting, identical-looking crags and instant-death lava pits. For the geographically challenged player like myself, Pre-Sequel can be very annoying, but once you can actually find the battle, you'll have a lot of fun. The DLCs, few as they are, are solid- the holodome providing some of the most dynamic arena battles of the franchise, and Claptastic Voyage offering excellent music and asthetics, as well as a very epic final boss and game changing "glitched" guns. Pre-Sequel is a solid continuation for the series and also I think, a good entrypoint to the franchise for newcomers. I'm expecting more improvements in future entries. Expand

So, The Pre-Sequel is in my opinion the best game is the series for a number of reasons but I'll stick to the main points.

So, The Pre-Sequel is in my opinion the best game is the series for a number of reasons but I'll stick to the main points.

    1) The 2 new Weapon Variables. Cryo Element and Lasers are an absolute blast to use. Unlike Borderlands 2 in which Slag felt like a complete crutch item especially for playthrough 2. The Cryo Element is not only fun and powerful to use standalone but it's also brilliant for stuff like explosive and melee based builds.

    2) The Character Interactions feel significantly more genuine than they did in previous games. The Original Borderlands felt like you were played a faceless character and Borderlands 2 was better at fleshing out the Original Vault Hunters but the newest group still felt lacking in anything special. Except for Kreig and Gaige.

    3) I felt that they managed to begin creating much better narrative elements in future games due to how they treat the story in this one.

    4) The ClapTastic Voyage DLC was brillant (possibly better than the Tiny Tina Dragonkeep DLC) and the two DLC Characters (Jack's Doppelganger and Aureila) have great play styles and are very fun to slaughter things with.

There are some downsides to the game.
    1) The Holdome DLC is really bad. It lacks any of the character from the Moxxi Underdome DLC and the only worthwhile things about it is the level cap and Axton/Gaige Interactions.

    2) Whilst I liked the whole Moon concept the environment felt quite bland and there was a lot of environment to go through, things felt very limited in colour palette until the Claptastic Voyage Showed up.

Overall I think this game is very much worth your time. If you liked BL 1 and was Meh about BL 2. This might be the game for you.

There isn’t a AAA game out there that doesn’t exist to make money, but Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel stumps for dollars in a brazenly insipid way. It’s a paint-by-numbers effort, almost from top to bottom.
