The graphics are amazing, with one of the coolest color pallets of any game I've seen in a long while. The only real problem with the graphics is the character models are a little weird looking. The gameplay is phenomenal. My only problem is it feels more like an FPS than any of the previous BioShock games, that had some RPG elements mixed in with the FPS shooting. Now, here comes the part that most of you will disagree with. The story in BioShock Infinite was good, but not great. At many points it became ridiculously convoluted, and would seemingly just add twists and turns for the sake of being confusing, instead of making sense in the long run... kind of like the Matrix sequels. In the end though, this game is fantastic and everyone should play it. No matter the price. Expand

A brilliant narrative with a memorable story and an unforgettable ending. Simply put, Bioshock Infinite is as much of a landmark for storytelling in games as the original Bioshock was. The sky city of Columbia is both gorgeous on a technical scale and an artistic one. The gameplay itself is reminiscent of an old-school shooter, though the action is suspenseful and rarely has a dull moment.

Amazing graphics coupled with an amazing storyline. Set in a thought provoking and detailed world. As a shooter it is okay, although with many unique mechanics such as Elizabeth assists and Vigors. Has carried over some horror and supernatural type elements from the original Bioshock games, but is rare enough that it shouldn't deter anyone but the most faint hearted gamers. Całkowicie pobiło ono zakończenie Assassin's Creeda 2 i ostatnio ukazanego Walking Dead'a. Gra co prawda nie jest idealna. Unvergesslich!

This is my favorite game of all time, and i've played a LOT of games. the carachters are very likeable, the vigors are really fun, the gun play can get really repetative, but a lot of fun. The first Bioshock game introduced me to a place called Rapture, where self-made men could rule in an un-oppressed environment. When playing through the beautiful settings of Bioshock 1&2, all I could imagine would be how beautiful the next game would be. Infinite far exceeded my expectations on beauty, and amplified the game with a twisting story that connects to Rapture at the end.

While it has good world building and story, a fun vigors system, and the thrilling rail sequences, the gunplay feels very clunky and I'm not down with how you're locked out of vigor upgrade choices before realising you probably picked the wrong ones (as some are indeed as useful as a chocolate teapot). I can definitely recommend it for its story, but I'm not sure if I can for it's FPS gameplay.

    This game was really spot-on.
The only thing I would fix with this game is that it's kind-of limited in a sense that the game ending shows you SO many possibilities, and yet the scene goes on without any interaction you could make with other worlds. this game could of had been expanded SO much and have a LOT more content. This one grabbed my attention as it seemed a little more open air in terms of it's level designs and less claustrophobic. So I decided to play it for myself seeing the massive critical acclaim it received in the media. I felt that throughout my experience I didn't connect to any of the characters emotionally. This might have been down to the lead character being bland as can be, run of the mill rugged action hero type material or the relationships with the side characters feeling like an afterthought. The saving grace in this case was the graphics being gorgeous in some cases even thought the textures were sub-par. The overly used bloom effects I'm sure detracted my attention somewhat. The controls were very tight and the gunplay felt fluid and entertaining. What really on my parade though was the ending. While I must admit I'm not a big fan of alternate realities and time travel, the ending here felt so predictable and lazy. M Night Shyamalan sends his regards. It's great, but not that great. Would have preferred it if they had shown his body instead of making it look awkward. Stuff like that only works in Call Of Duty and actual shooting games. Good try though

Animations are lacking and the models look cartoonish. Just as Bioshock before, this game will feel "weird" and out of place and I guess it's just how these bioshock games are. You will feel like, you are in the mind of a mentally insane person, when you play it.
I'm not sure about why the insanely high score this game received, I wouldn't go more than 65%, just because there is plenty of attention of detail, but the game mechanics are tried and done before twice already. This is really Bioshock in the sky, instead of underwater and you will feel like you have played this game already.

This game is, simply put, overrated. To be fair, the graphics are strong, the world design is excellent and original and the shooting gameplay is tight and time-tested.

    However...

This game's story is incoherent and doesn't gel with the gameplay mechanics at all. You could say this game exhibits a strong ludo-narrative dissonance. Why are vending machines solely doling out bullets and health in this world? Why are all the power-ups simply used to kill people and mess them up? Oh, no reason, just because it's a gameplay feature that serves the fact that this is a SHOOTER. All immersion in the world is broken by constant gameplay reiterations that this is a shooter and the world is meant to serve the gameplay, rather you or the game serving the purpose of the world. This approach feels like a huge missed opportunity, given the inspired world design.

I also feel like the designers wanted to throw a lot of different elements into this stew, (rail-to-rail combat, an AI companion, the girl-in-a-tower trope, a floating city, time travel, the Chicago World's Fair), but didn't know how to make it all work, so they took blatant narrative shortcuts and used them as duct-tape to hold the whole concept together. I'm all for games having crazy out-there stories and non-coherent plots, but it's hard to 'buy-in' to the game world when it's intentions as a linear first-person shooter are so blatant, no matter how much gloss and pedigree is involved.

I was disappointed with several other facets of this game, too. While the leads are well-written and acted, the supporting cast are uniformly one-note cartoons. In a game that explores racism in post-slavery America, I feel like the game touches on these themes ham-fistedly and with none of the nuance that was anticipated. The social commentary of this game felt hollow, too much a secondary sideshow where it could have filtered into the gameplay with more potency. All the racist advertisements and slogans in the game can't hide the fact no matter what happens, none of the racism impacts YOU you're the a superhuman caucasian meat-head with a gun, and that's never going to change.

The level design, while excellent in technical and artistic terms, is frustratingly linear as opposed to Bioshock and SS2 and their more organic approaches to world building. This is not a functioning city, it's just a huge set piece for you to blow ish up. The final levels show more confidence with spatial logic and flow, but the first 2/3 of the game are very much 'go in a straight wide twisty line.' To its credit, the level designers are very good with hidden areas and secrets, but it feels like a tease compared to the nooks and crannies of Bioshock and SS2.

I will say, taken purely as a shooter, BSI is great. A large variety of weapons, enemies to fight, spatial and tactical challenges, are deployed with a strong sense of confidence and creativity. At first I was pretty miffed that there was no way to 'die' in the game. It's very much the Bioshock Prey approach, where you simply respawn, lose some health and bullets and the enemies stay where they are. This sort of approach made me feel like I was constantly just grinding my way forward with very little sense of stakes, but I didn't really mind as the encounters were never terribly challenging to begin with (even on Hard difficulty). I did not play on 1999 mode.

Bottom line, I recommend this game with some caveats. It's a strong, interesting shooter with a story and concept whose reach exceeds its grasp. I'll reiterate it felt like a lot of different ideas were tossed into the mix and barely held together. I acknowledge that there's a lot of fan speculation on the plot, with flowcharts and theories, and in hindsight, that's all pretty impressive, but it also feels like the game added narrative complexity to mask a lack of fundamental cohesion to all the concepts that were being tossed (literally) in the air. Still, if you accept that, kick back and keep the hype chamber in check, you'll have a solid good time.

Though there are still some questions you may have at the end, it at least answers and hits on all the main points. By the end of the game I was mind blown at what had happened.

The gameplay is good. It plays smooth as a shooter. The only problem I had that kept me from giving it a perfect score is how boring it got looking for stuff. Of course you don't have to look for stuff but if you do there won't be much to find. There seems to be not as much recordings to find compared to the big world your in and most of the time you only find health and vigor when you were already full. Your vigor and health fills up fast too so you'll find yourself constantly leaving behind that stuff and not needing it. In hard mode it might be a different story but I only tried it in normal mode. All that stuff I mentioned though is minor. What really got to me was how useless the different types of powers you get. I literally only used around three of the 12 or so you get and once I got the electric one I stuck with that for the rest the game. I am sure others might find them useful since it feel like the game is trying to offer variety but the other powers literally felt useless to me. The gear you can equip is a nice addition but I had the same problem as the powers in that I found only a few of the gear useful of the plenty of gear that you find. I literally only used the first pieces of gear until the end when I finally found gear that was worth putting on to replace my old ones. The gameplay is smooth though and never had a problem moving around and shooting. Shooting is pretty accurate as well.

The graphics are the most noticeable part about the game. They are gorgeous and you can just stare at awe at the city in the sky right when you get there. Especially on a good pc running on high settings. The characters look great as well and are really believable.

Overall this is a gorgeous looking game with a great story where you will get mindblown away. The gameplay plays really well also. A great example of showing that story game aren't dead and hopefully inspire other developers to come up with other great stories.

But the real problem is the gameplay that doesn't makes sense with the story and the plot and is a huge downgrade from the previous games.

Extremely linear, brainless, simple, it has backtracking, many enemies (especially bosses) are there just for the sake of it and have nothing to do with the story and weren't designed well at all, Vigors (the games' alternative for Plasmids) also make no sense in this world and half of them are mostly pointless, some weapons feel weak and you can only hold two of them (no it doesn't make shooting more tactical), and its too easy.

I do not find the storytelling like a masterpiece like others but I still think they made the story interesting for most, but I am not fond of unrealistic theories that are a bit complex for some, so that might be a reason why I do not consider this to be a masterpiece in terms of story telling.

The story telling of this game is dependent of you having to collect all audio files and also be aware of small details that could explain parts of the story. So it is a good game but it is not a great game or a masterpiece, and absolutely not a game of the decade like most biased Bioshock-fans claim. I still recommend the game because it might be a very interesting and complex story for some but I am sure the repetitive game play can still be boring at times.

I like Columbia much more than I do Rapture, swinging around on sky hooks and using a sky hook to swoop down and kill an enemy. I was starting to get sick of Rapture and am glad this game has a different setting.

The game gives the illusion of a vast expansive sky city, it does not have the stuffy claustrophobic feel of the underwater city Rapture. In Columbia you just want to soar and swoop at every chance you can. Though it does make my stomach churn at times using a sky rail is almost like riding a roller coaster.

Elizabeth is an interesting character though at first she reminded me a lot of a Disney princess, the way she moves, expressions in an over exagerated disney princess way, she's almost a rip off of Belle from Beauty and the Beast in how she looks, she has same hairstyle, big over large eyes.

You have a variety of ways to kill enemies you can ask elizabeth to open a tear so you can have more cover, a hook for swinging off, medical kits, guns, turrets, though that is limited as you can only have 1 tear open and active at a time.

But the game is not without frustration.

You can only carry 2 guns at a time which is very limiting, though you can swap 1 gun you are carrying for a gun that's on the ground, you can never carry more than 2 at a time.

Vigors are often the most fun and versatile ways to kill which are the replacement for plasmids but are much more limited in their use as you can't carry salts on you, you seem to run out of salts way too quickly though (salts are the blue energy metre simular to eve) to replenish salts you have to find some sort of drink or a bottle of salts. Usually there are salts nearby or Elizabeth will find and toss you some.

You can't carry first aid kits either but you have a energy shield which is better, you don't lose health unless your shield is fully depleted and if that happens you can just hide till it replenishes.

But even so I found the battles more fast paced and enjoyable than the previous Bioshocks.

I dislike most that there is only auto save and you can't save your game when you want. I wanted to stop playing but it said my last auto save was 10 minutes ago, so had to keep playing for 10 more minutes to get the next checkpoint. It makes it so I have to replay again if I just want to quit playing. The most annoying thing about the game. I had to leave the game running when I wanted a break as my last checkpoint save was half an hour ago, auto saves should be at least every 10 minutes.

There is no hacking, I miss that.
The only thing that is a tiny bit like it is that Elizabeth can pick locks for you, but there is no mini game associated with it.

To sumarise it overall the game is better in some ways than the other Bioshocks but also worse in other aspects.

The story overall is rather freaky, tragic and messes with your head, I did a lot of reading about it to understand the story fully. But I better not say anything else as I don't want to spoil it for those who have not played and completed the game.

Mostly though it feels enjoyable, fun, scary in some ways and exciting. Though unlike others I would not got so far as to say it's one of the best games I've played. Almost would rate it an 8, but there is too many negatives that the game should not have, it does not deserve more than 7/10.

The ending requires some brain work to digest and should not be taken at face value, which makes it amazing. If my professor calls it great I ain't arguing.)
-Subtle character development (Some argues that they have 'lousy' character which I object. Their actions and conversations speak little by little and build up through the game.)
    -Music (Just beautiful.)
-Combat mechanics (From shooting to melee to using vigor, it opens up room for creativity in dealing with enemies)

Cons: -Combat experience (Limited weapon choice and upgrades for a FPS. The shield kind of rewarded players for reckless shooting and hiding.)
-Lackluster interaction with NPCs (Other than Booker and Eliz, other characters are just part of the story rather than the game.)

Tips: Read up on 1900's history to better appreciate the plot. Slowly digest the story while playing, people who rush to criticize it usually fail to pause and think. It requires understanding of satire and sarcasm to see the plot's golden value,

For starters, 'Infinite' comes off as an open world sandbox, but it felt much more on rails, as if I were being lead around on a leash the entire time. Most sandbox games have you running around, completing quests for many different people for many different reasons; traveling from town to town discovering new quests, friends, and other challenges along the way; but 'Infinite' has you following around the same person the entire time, making it feel much more restricted than it should, causing the entire world to just feel...smaller.

I actually held off playing 'Infinite' for several months because I thought it would be a much more daunting experience than it turned out to be. I don't know, the earlier 'BioShock' games just felt much more involved than this one did; as if many of the things that made the other games great have since been removed in order to make the game easier and more accessible or something. But what the hell do I know? I'm not very good at reviewing video games anyway. All I know is that this game felt much simpler, and went by much more quickly than I felt that it should have. And maybe that's just because I enjoyed it, but the game just isn't all that difficult, and I can only remember one or two times that I actually felt challenged while playing.

But aside from the overall simplified feeling that I got when comparing this game to the earlier ones, I still really enjoyed playing through 'Infinite'. For starters, the atmosphere is easily one of the most beautiful that I've ever seen and while I was there I felt completely immersed in it while watching the story unfold, which plays out like a blockbuster motion picture I might add. The music is great, just like in the earlier games and fits the overall tone perfectly, the cut-scenes were well timed and didn't get boring, the game is optimized extremely well, making it great for users with lower end machines, which is always a plus, and I enjoyed the humor.

Sure it's not as good as the earlier 'BioShock' games, but it's still worth playing through if you can get 'Infinite' for a few bucks. It's got a decently compelling storyline, the combat mechanics, although somewhat generic are still fun to play with, and if you're in the market for a newer AAA shooter, this game is often on sale, which isn't half bad either. But other than that, while it was satisfying to play through once, 'Infinite' is overall a forgettable and generic shooter that just didn't live up to the hype and I don't plan on returning to it anytime soon, if ever.

Bioshock Infinite has an amazing story, great voice acting, and great characters. It deals on many of the worlds problems, yet never outright tells you what is right and wrong. However the game play is the games downfall. Do not get me wrong, it was fun, but gets boring. I wish they focused more on the gun play, rather than focus mainly on the story. But, the game was still enjoyable.

This is a brilliant game gripping storyline and graphics well cared for, I was fine for the playability and its particular atmosphere enveloping everything where the impossible becomes (reality) in this particular virtual place. The underlying theme of the first chapters continues even in this chapter and in some moments nearly thrilling.

Elizabeth is honestly, the best companion I've ever seen in the video game history, she is quite dramatic at the beginning, but will be way less later, she is interesting, useful, part of the story, and she's basically the best thing in the whole game. she got some nice **** too.

Colombia (the flying city) is beautiful, cheerful, colorful, but it's habitants are mostly rich white racists, poor white and black hobos, workers (which most are black too), and it's a city which you cannot judge by it's cover, because honestly, it's a beautiful city made of bad people, and in the actual game: It has an okay level design, very linear though (because the game is linear, idiot).

The graphics are vibrant, colorful, something that doesn't match the game, but that makes it very artistic somehow, story is great, but misses the point a lot and is a bit confusing (especially at the ending), at all it's like a almost good game.

But on the other hand, Infinite tells without a doubt one of the most ambitious and multilayered stories ever seen in a video game. The setting of Columbia along with its history and complex lore is absolutely enthralling, and to this day Bioshock Infinite is a visual marvel, with some of the best, most focused art direction I think I've ever seen. The ideal would obviously have been a game (like the original) that nails both gameplay and narrative, but at the end of the day, the absolutely stellar art direction, multifaceted story and disappointing yet serviceable gameplay was enough to have me still think about Bioshock Infinite 5 years after its release. TL;DR: Competent - but linear - gameplay, convoluted story, terrible items management and saving system.

I know I'm in the minority, but I found BI disappointing. Mind you, it's not bad, but I found its gameplay to be... average. After having loved both Bioshock (BS) 1 and 2, I found BI less entertaining, more linear and less strategic.
The visuals are stunning, sure, but: the gameplay is similar to many other games, you need to search everywhere for money (otherwise your weapons and vigors will remain weak), you can go on those rails-in-the-sky only when the game decides you can. And, you cannot plan in advance your boss battles (like you could in BS 1-2): the heaviest enemy, the Handyman, jumps around like crazy, so setting traps is useless; you better run around and jump on and off the rails.
Again, this doesn't mean is bad, just... not much fun. I'd give the gameplay a 7.

The real issues are 2: item managements and saves (or lack of it):
    - The item management is AWFUL: you can only carry TWO weapons (!), you can fast-switch only TWO vigors, and you have only FOUR slots for gears. That means, every time you meet a different enemy, you should stop the game and select different vigors and gears for best effects. It breaks the flow and immersion (BS 1-2 were much better at this).
    - The saving system is TERRIBLE: there's only checkpoints, and they're often far away. Besides, it's easy not noticing the "Saving" icon, so you often don't know the last time the game saved your progress: you could easily lose two hours of play, and the game may not even inform you. Sometimes I played for hours (even when I wanted to stop), just to arrive to a point where I was sure the game saved. Truly infuriating.

Hence, to me items management and saving system do not deserve better than a 4. I mean, they did a lot better in BS 1-2, why oh why BI become way worse?!?
In the end, I'd make an average and my vote is 6.
What a pity. BI could have been great, but an average gameplay and some really stupid interface choices almost ruined it.

And what about the story and Elizabeth? Well, the story is original and interesting, but the way it's narrated doesn't work much. It's confusing and not fluid. Elizabeth has personality, but I didn't like her much: she's often pouting or angry looking at me (hey, I'm saving your bacon, lady!), and she doesn't develop a good relationship. Alyx in Half-Life 2 was a way more captivating companion, someone I truly cared about; Elizabeth... c'mon, lady, do I have to look for you half the game? Do I really?!?
