Well, from the flawless gameplay to the amazing visuals, from the fantastic writing and extremely interesting plot to the great work of the voice actors - Bioshock Infinite is definitely one of the BEST video games of 2013.

There are problems that I have with the game, like the lack of a manual save and a shallow side quest system, but all that is negligible when compared to the towering successes of this marvelous game. I almost don't even want to say anything about it in fear of spoiling the brilliant ending. Just play the game, that all that really needs to be said.

The City looks great, the character are "belivable", the soundtracks just awesome!

This game is absolutely amazing. You can tell that there was an enormous amount of thought put into every detail, down to the very last corner. Bioshock Infinite is my favorite game to date, no question about it.

To start, the art direction is very good. Everything is arranged to be very appealing, and the colors are very balanced. I loved just walking around the city and soaking it all up. There are 1912 style shops to go into, and they are all populated. In one area, there is even a good, three-minute quartet that you can just sit and listen to. I was very impressed with the magnitude of everything. Seldom are you placed in a small, dark room or hallway. Most of the game is set in colorful areas with large statues and airy buildings.

I liked that it didn't actually put you in the dark, but gave a dark feeling when it was appropriate. As per the Bioshock games, some of the events are quite dark-- and I liked the uneasy feeling without the dark corridors of Rapture.

Combat is a step up from other games in the genre. The introduction of "skylines" allows you to jump quickly from place to place, making everything very fast paced. I didn't quite like the inventory management as much as in the original Bioshock, however. I found it much harder to deal with my Vigors, mainly because you couldn't just scroll through them like in the other game. Still, you get used to it-- that's a fairly minor gripe.

I can't really say much about the story. If I told you what was so great about it, I'd spoil it for you. I can say that it puzzled me, and it was a few hours after finishing the game that I worked everything out. I felt like some of the points were repeated too much though. I get that they try to help everyone understand it well, but I'd rather just have it all thrown at me-- that way it's more fun to work out on my own.

Overall, Irrational Games has gone above and beyond what anyone expected. The only way you'd find this game worse than the original is if you're somewhat nostalgic. Even if you didn't like the first or second game, I really suggest that you still give Bioshock Infinite a try. As a side note, there are a few things that you won't quite understand if you skip the first game. They are little details, but in a game like Bioshock Infinite, it's those little details that really count.

This game is worth every cent. If you can't afford it, you can get it off the grey market for an earbud or so (about $35).

From the posters and newspapers, to radio broadcasts and NPC conversations, Infinite really make the world feel real. I felt like I was presenting an E3 demo for the first few hours, as a walked around slowly taking in every bit of atmosphere. Gameplay wise, I'd give it a solid 8.5/10. Its not revolutionary, but there are quite a few things that freshen it up, including impeccable pacing, and the wide open aerial sequences. Last, but certainly not least, it story. Story is the reason this game is such a masterpiece. It's aided greatly by the game world, as you'll hear NPCs having interesting conversations, and the environments themselves are constructed in a way that the player begins to ask questions. As in the original Bioshock you pick up recordings, which fleshes out the story even further. Elizabeth herself however is the greatest attraction. I felt as if she came out of a Disney movie, with an expressive face, flawless animations, and a curiosity that can clearly be seen. By the end of the game you really do care for her, which is a hard thing to do in a video game. In conclusion, the game really is perfection. Stop reading this and go buy it. Now. It will take you on a journey that few games can come close to.
PS: Don't rush through it. Take your time and enjoy the little things. You'll be glad you did.

The ability to make you feel the plot, the identified you feel with Booker is something that no other game had transmited me before.
The music, artistical design, the environments fit perfectly to the situation.
I'm not gonna say that the gameplay mechanichs are amazing because maybe are a bit simple, but they are fun as hell and the made their goal because I haven't experience myself that tedious moment in other games of here are enemies", they probably should change the vigors and weapon enhancements to make them more fluid, I didn't change my vigors because I had the maxed and same with the weapons, that isn't bad either, but in some places I felt that I wanted to use other weapon or vigor and I realise that was a bad idea because they weren't leveled, but, as I say, the combat is very fun despite being a bit simple.
The A.I (Elizabeth) is the best partneryou can find in an game, she reacts to the environment, she interacts with it, she speaks you acordingly to the situation, simply amazing.
Congratulations to Ken Levin and his team, I can count with my fingers the games that I think they deserve a 10/10 and this is one of them.

My favorite character is Elizabeth, she's smart and in the beginning of the game she lightens the whole mood. You see her grow as a character, as she learns more about her parents and her whole predicament. It's really great to see the main protagonist and Elizabeth become almost partners. Religion and racism play a huge role in Columbia, this adds a whole different type of realism. It's almost like they are trying to recreate America before it's civil war. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Words cannot describe how amazing this game is, especially on the PC. Bioshock Infinite tells a very great story that when it comes to the end, will honestly shock and confuse many people, but in a good way. When I completed this game, I honestly didn't know how to feel about the ending, but now that I've seen it explained, I can appreciate it more. The game play is very solid, the amount of fun you can have zipping around skylines and dive bombing enemies from above is almost infinite (no pun intended), and the weapons in the game are very well made. Other combat mechanics, like tears and Elizabeth aiding you with supplies, where also very nice touches and made the combat a lot more unique, without making the game incredibly easy. The main characters in the game, Booker and Elizabeth, are probably the best duo in recent gaming. Irrational Games didn't even need to make it romantic, and I'm thankful they didn't. All they needed to do was make their relationship and their story believable (well, other than the flying cities, but I digress). The Songbird, despite not having any dialogue at all, is easily one of the best anti-heroes I've seen in a game. Not the best, but up there at least. There are also little moments in the game that truly help get some comic relief or joy in an otherwise depressing story. This includes the Lutece twins, and the scene where Booker begins playing guitar while Elizabeth sings along. Moments like these, the overall story of the game, and the great game play make this game an unforgettable experience. Play this game at all costs, and definitely get it on the PC if you have one that can run the game. Expand

The gameplay itself gives to the player options. Even here we have freedom of choice story touch this theme We can only shoot by guns, or we can only use vigors. We can combine them, we can not it's only our choice. Somebody see here a problem, but I'm not. You want to survive on 1999 mod dif-ty? Use everything you have. No? Your choice, but then don't complain. We have lots of weapons and 8 vigors. How to use you decide.
Elizabeth is alive. She is not like alive, she is alive. You trust her, you worship on her. It's hard to imagine what work Irrational Games had done, because how Liz moves, act, look at something, how she even talk impress you. This is you SHOCK, BIO comes from Vigors.
For me it's hard to describe Bioshock in a few words. Cause this is a huge product, huge game. This is a story, an art which should be in each creator's mind. How Levin loves details and how shock us next corner. Of course there are minuses. Sometimes you don't want to shoot and just want pass through enemies, but they don't give you a chance. May be old versions of the levels were better and more large, open. And somebody can looks differently on the gameplay freedom to shoot with or without vigors. But please, where did you see the game or something without minuses? As Lutece twins said: "This is just a point of perspective. I see Dead. And I see alive."
Bioshock Infinite is a must have game. Because this is not only a game as we use to think or use to play, this is an art, drama, new world itself.

If you think the original Bioshock was good, then your gonna absolutely love this one. You play the way you want to; use whatever vigors (basically plasmids) you want to use whenever you like, use any weapon (better variety this time over the other bioshocks). Its a fresh start for the bioshock series again and my god have they pulled it off. Going on those skylines makes you feel your actually on a roller coaster and the fact that the devs have put that much effort into the game to make you feel as if you are Booker is absolutely amazing. The amount of effort the art team went to is astonishing as they have put so much detail even in the smallest places. Just like the other two bioshocks before the voice acting is superb, the animations are so fluid and again astonishingly good. The AI i must say are pretty good as they can give you a good challenge since they find ways to get to you even if you are trying to get cover. Combat on the skylines is refreshing and exhilarating, its just so new and fun to just play around with. I could go on and on about how good this game is, but you just need to pick this game up and see what everybody is talking about. This game is truly a masterpiece. Its a sort of experience you rarely ever get in any kind of game, characters like Elizabeth have been made with such care that you connect to them on an emotional level, you just keep learning more and more about Columbia and all the characters and this is what keeps you engaged throughout this epic story. Its much more open, because of this you are able to explore many more areas within the game, and the additional side quests have been cleverly integrated within the game so it inst annoying because of how nothing is forced, you just go along with it. Well, all fooling around, this game truly deserves the place its getting, an exquisite story taking place in a breathtaking scenario called Columbia, which totally broke the taboo that said that Bioshock needed Rapture, Little Sisters and Big Daddies to survive, here there's no such thing (...maaaybe?)
Another taboo that this game broke was that the companion character could most of the time be a pain in the ass and a truly heavy burden that needs babysitting even to go to the bathroom....Elizabeth is a lovely character that you can really get to love to death who will NOT get in your way during the fighting unlike others *coughcoughAshleyRE4coughcough*
I have to say that i had my doubts at first about this 3rd Bioshock game with its whole new twist about taking its plot into the air (literally) and taking away or modifying the main points that made the others so memorable....and all that time that it took to see the light, but still it managed to bring a whole new story with all sorts twists and challenges that can easily make me say that just like Bioshock 2 surpassed the first, Infinite surpassed B2
You cant really miss this game if you like thrilling stories that will keep you at the border of your chair, sofa, or any place where you are when playing games,
Any people hating on this game is either mentally retarded or is just a Call of Duty/Gears of War/Halo that needs to get a brain surgery to be able notice the difference between the true beauty of video games and just mindless trigger pulling
The only downside of this game is that certain weapons, VIGORS and items were greatly underpowered and made you feel not too interested in experimenting with them, even with their upgrades, but i hope that in later updates or even DLCs they fix that....even though im not too much of a fan of DLCs im quite excited to see what else this aswesome game brings

Note: The Following Review is Long

In 2007 the original Bioshock came out and added a layer to gaming that few games have been able to do. The game was not nearly as big of a success as other titles of the year such as Halo or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. A game that Bioshock Infinite is here and it reaches. In some regards, perhaps even higher than the one that started it all.

You play as Booker Dewitt. He's got some debts to settle and believes he can do so. He must first venture to the floating city of Columbia. There he must rescue a young woman named Elizabeth. But it will not be easy. Columbia is a city ruled under the watchful eye of Father Comstock, a prophet who can supposedly see the future. It isn't long before Booker realizes that rescuing Elizabeth and escaping the city of Columbia will be much more difficult than he imagined. Quickly branded as a false prophet, Booker comes under attack.

Like the first game, Bioshock Infinite is a very thematically ambitious game. One that begins to elevate storytelling in gaming. There will surely be a lot of discussion to follow with this one. There's a lot of care taken with the world in which it takes place in, as well as with some of the themes it handles. And Bioshock Infinite opts to hold very little back. Here you'll be tackling themes such as racism, religion, false prophets, gender roles, even moments that will test your own morals. It's got a lot to say. The story and the world also come to life in the same way that Rapture does. While Columbia is not as dazzling as the trip into the underwater world, it does have a pulse just the same. You'll find Voxphones scattered throughout. These, like the original Bioshocks audio diaries, add a lot more to the tale at hand. They add to the story, the world and the atmosphere. To ignore them is to miss out on a considerable portion of the game. For those very curious about the world they're playing in, they will most certainly want to pick these up.

From the outset it doesn't seem as though there is much which separates Bioshock Infinite from it's predecessor. Indeed, it takes a moment to get there. Many aspects will be familiar to you from the outset. Instead of Plasmids, for example, you have Vigors. These allow you to do things such as possess machines and make them attack your enemies, or hurl explosive fireballs at your foes. If there are crows an area you can even turn them against your foes. There's a lot variety with the vigors, as well as many different ways to use them. There is a limit, of course, you need salts to be able to use them. Like the original there are also vending machines around where you can use currency to buy upgrades for your vigors or guns. You can also restore health.

Unlike the original, however, you don't stock up on health packs that will be used immediately when your life reaches zero. Rather you have one life gauge that doesn't recharge at all. You must find food or other means of sustenance to restore your health. There is, however, a shield you'll get early on that does recharge. If you can find cover in the midst of a gun fight or keep from taking damage your shield will recharge and you'll be ready again. This seems like it'll make the game particularly difficult at first, but Bioshock Infinite is not too challenging in and of itself. Sometimes the enemies can come in large waves. But should you bite the dust you are never punished too harshly. You'll respawn really close to where you died and you'll be given some health and some ammo. Your enemies will also have some of their health restored as well, so whatever killed you is usually still lurking. The only downside is that there will be times when you respawn and you'll need to take time to adjust to your surroundings. Though you never respawn far from where you've died, there are times when you'll feel disoriented and turned around when you do.

There is also gear you can put on to help you out along the way. These will enhance your abilities. And if you mix and match things will change. One piece of gear, for instance, allows you to run faster when your shield burst. Another lets you set people on fire wh

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The atmosphere of this game is just stunning, the graphics, music, voices and so on just perfectly fit together. I've never been bored for a single second playing this game and you definitely have to fall in love with Elizabeth.

There's really only very little to criticise, the gameplay overall is fantastic. The only thing I would change is the weapons system since you can't really focus on your favorite weapons because you need to change your weapons pretty often. That's because you either run out of ammo for your weapon or because you need to adapt your weapons to the tougher enemies.

The story is very complex, maybe too complex for some people. Yes there remain unanswered questions after the ending and there's room for interpretations and it doesn't have a classic hollywood happy ending but that's one reason why Bioshock infinite ist outstanding. And in fact the game does reveal all important secrets about Booker/Comstock and Elizabeth/Anna, where they come from and what their motivations are. But I have to admit that I did like the Bioshock 1 and 2 endings a little more.

However there is no such thing as a perfect game but Bioshock Infinite is as close as you can get, that's why I gave this game a score of 10.

You can get different vigors faster if you explore, or you can get a lot more money or health packs or a weapon that won't show up until a different part of the game happens. Most of the game you have Elizabeth with you. Now unlike most games Infinite just straight up tells you that she can take care of herself. You can tell that she can't take damage which is great but that doesn't mean she just sites out in the open. She hides behind you and makes it look like she is trying to hide. I find her to be the best follower in any game. She has an amazing story and she is helpful in combat even though she doesn't fight herself. She finds many different things (Those things she finds are things that you can't grab so the money she found is money that you wouldn't be able to get without her) like money inbetween combat, ammo for when you're low, salts which are like the injectors in the other two games and health packs. You can go into combat in multiple ways. You can have Elizabeth open a tear to have a auto turret open fire on your enemies and as their distracted you jump onto a skyline rail and hop down and surprise them.

I have played many good games, but none of them have been as astonishing as BioShock Infinite was. The first seconds of the game already give away everything about it, they show how deeply philosophical that game is. These first seconds and minutes in the game made me feel like I was watching a classical movie by Fellini, Kubrick or Tarkovsky, and this feeling only grew to the middle of the game. I was absolutely astonished as I heard Mozart's Requiem as background music on one oft the game locations... honestly, how often do you hear classial music in a FPS?!

The content is not delivered straight in your hands you have to think about over all the information you notice; and the longer you think, the better you understand the game and the deeper the game seems. Nothing is explained, and you are free to go around and explore to find out what the hell is going on in that city. I spent half of the time on my first playthrough just taking screenshots; I was literally feeling like a tourist in a foreign city, with my jaw dropped. Every wall has something written on it, every note in this game has a meaning to it and somehow reflects Columbia's history or current events, or reveals Booker's or Elizabeth's story.

Elizabeth's AI is godlike, too. While I scavenged around she usually helped me but not always; sometimes she just leaned herself on a back of a chair or a wall, sometimes she was just adminring a beautiful view.

I feel like everyone should experience this game... it's just amazingly gorgeus and rich with content. Period.

The graphics, while not ultra-bleeding-edge, are still extremely high quality, and like everything else in the game, presented with an exquisite attention to detail. You will be hard pressed to not spend the first few hours running around taking screenshots of things that amaze you. The sound is presented in equally as high of quality, with positional audio of very high, paranoia inducing quality. NPCs converse, preach, and sing in ways that add a very distinct life to Columbia. The AI behind Elizabeth will serve as a clarion call to other game developers, and will set the bar on what is and is not acceptable going forward. The gameplay is, not too shockingly, reminiscent of Bioshock, with some small refinements. If you have FPS experience and are looking for a challenge, I would recommend starting on Hard mode, as veterans may find Normal too simple. The story… well, the story is executed expertly at pretty much every juncture. In most games I find myself tiring of hunting down things like audio recordings, but in Columbia, there are so many questions that want to be asked, you may find yourself going well out of your way to ensure you didn’t miss something. All of this is wrapped up with and ending that is likely to keep you thinking for a good long time after the credits finish rolling. Expand

Yes, the game is not flawless. Gameplay for example is mostly (when playing against "weak" opponents) shooting with a mixture between regenerating and normal health (shield regenerates). That being said, that wasn´t a great difference between "easy" and "hard" against most opponents. Just the boss fights were actually very hard (includes the ending). And I think this is the biggest "problem" of this game. There could be more than just shooting and following a path. Why not some easy puzzles? But enough complaining about the game. The characters are well done, especially Elizabeth. You can see her emotions by looking at her face, and I noticed only one short script that was off: She said "thank you" and was looking at me like she was going to murder me. During fights, she´s actually pretty useful and a lovely character. Also, the story itself is genius. You might be suspecting some parts of the story, but you´ll never know exactly what happened unless you play it. One of the best stories in an FPS so far.

Fantastic game that redefines the genre. The graphics are not on par with the new Tomb Raider or Crysis 3 but the art direction is sublime. Gameplay is simply fun. It takes a while to get used to the commands but it's very rewarding in the end switching plasmides/weapons and choosing the best tactic in every situation.

I am so blown away by this game! I absolutely loved Bioshock, rapture was an amazing environment for gamers to explore and the era it was set in just made it an unforgettable experience. I bought Bioshock 2 on release day, played it for an hour and then it sat gathering dust for a few years i cant explain why, but it was the same as Bioshock in so many ways, yet different or maybe too similar. When I eventually got round to playing it i did enjoy it but not as much as the first game. With Bioshock 2 in mind, i wasnt really excited for Infinite, it wasnt rapture, the environment didnt look eerie and gone where the flooded hallways and ghostly empty apartments, no big daddies etc. All replaced with blue skies and colour! Only when reading the reviews did my interest in this game spike, so i went out and bought it on release day. Firstly its beautiful, thats the first thing you'll notice, Columbia is in every way just as amazing as Rapture, its what Rapture probably looked like before it fell into ruin. You will find yourself wondering around and taking in the sites, listening in to conversations and playing with the many interactive objects in the environment. The game is set in 1912 and the game really does make you feel like you've been sent back in time, theyve captured the era well, from the views and opinions of the middle class white people on the street to the black man mopping up in the toilets, youll stop and listen to radio broadcasts and the music really helps to set the scene just right and helps to immerse yourself in the game even more. The story so far is pretty good, Elizabeth is great character and her sweet personality and innocence has you feeling sorry for her, I havent personally been in combat with her yet but apparently she can take care of herself (so the game has told me). The game plays much like the previous Bioshocks where combat is concerned but getting around Columbia via skyline is an awesome addition to the game, its like being on a roller-coaster but at the end you get to execute someone with a pretty brutal skyline hook execution. Overall I suppose the best compliment i can pay this game is believe in the hype, i didnt until a week ago and now I cant get enough of Bioshock Infinite. The only minor thing i can point out and it is minor is that when you get up close to some posters objects they get quite blocky and lose their smoothness, maybe thats more to do with the Xbox though. Bottom line if you liked the original Bioshock, you need Bioshock Infinite in your life, if you've never played a Bioshock game before, Bioshock Infinite is an amazing place to start. Expand

Having played Bioshock 1 and 2, I found the gameplay experience very familiar, since Irrational did not forget what made the first two games successful. The new setting and 1st person perspective are extremely positive--even my wife likes the visuals of Columbia. Portal 2, Telltale's Walking Dead, the original Bioshock and Mass Effect 2 are a few. Bioshock: Infinite is now on this pedestal. The story is simply a masterpiece, the visuals are gorgeous and the voice acting nothing short of astounding. My complaints are few and don't affect my rating in any way simply because the story makes up for any sins of the game. To get those two sins out of the way, both are console only problems. The first is that textures tend to be a lower resolution due to hardware limitations and the second is the dial required to swap vigors (previously known as plasmids). While the dial is an eloquent solution to the physical limitations of the console controller, a better hot key system could have been devised as the game pauses while you're searching for your vigor. This does pull you out of the action, but it's faster than most other ideas would have been. Neither of these are problems if you're playing on PC as you can hot key your vigors and the extra power of the hardware should let you run it on Ultra High graphics, removing any rough textures. With those gripes out of the way, let's move on. The story is simply the best that I've encountered in a game to date, and should have people talking about it for months to come, the theoretical implications and the possibilities of the DLC. Personally, I can't wait for the DLC and I've already bought the season pass because of it. The world Irrational has created will make you want to explore and discover like no other game. I spent so much time simply taking in the world, listening to people and finding voxophones that it probably added an extra 5 hours of game time. The actual game will probably run around 8 or 9 hours on normal difficulty if you don't spend a lot of time exploring. If you play on hard or 1999 mode, then it should add either 3 extra hours for hard or 6 or 7 for 1999 mode. Regardless of how you play, Infinite isn't a game you can afford to miss and if you can only buy 1 game for the next 6 months then make it Bioshock: Infinite. Expand

Infinite is not afraid to take a very critical look at some of the less savory aspects of American culture, like racism, sexism, etc., something that very few mainstream video games even begin to address.

Other games, such as To the Moon and Thirty Flights of Loving, have also managed to tell emotional and powerful narratives, albeit for a tiny fraction of the resources that were undoubtedly spent making Infinite. However, just because Infinite is a AAA title is no reason to write it off. In fact, it's validation that even video games made with lots of money can dare to be good, and dare to be different, than every other Call of Duty and Battlefield and Halo game out there.

Infinite addresses heady themes and issues within its narrative, something that just doesn't exist in most other mainstream video games, and that's what makes this game so important. Play BioShock Infinite, because it's more than just a "game". It's more than just about getting the next killstreak. It's not afraid to go outside the confines of the generic conventions of the FPS shooter, and tell an interactive story that's practically impossible to experience in any other medium. BioShock Infinite is, quite simply put, unlike anything else.
