May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica Scattered Hopes is a wonderfully engaging work in its own right on top of being one of the most holistically smart video game adaptations in history. I am tremendously impressed by it and cannot recommend it to fans of the series enough.
-
May 19, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a phenomenal experience for newcomers as well as long time fans of the show. Like I said at the outset, I can’t think of a better fit for a roguelite game; a genre that is based on survival, risk vs. reward and more. Basically, the very definition of what the Battlestar revival series is; developer Alt Shift took that and has delivered a fantastic video game experience that emulates the shows high pressure tension as well as fits nicely in the lore. As a fan of the show, who can ask for anything more?
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is just plain fun. It’s got good, varied strategy elements and a solid roguelike progression loop. Add in the sci-fi classic goodness that is the Battlestar Galactica universe, and you’re left with a game that is well worth sinking many hours into. And trust me, you’ll want to keep coming back for more.
-
Jun 1, 2026Robots controlled by artificial intelligence have wiped out almost the entire human population in one blow. Only those who were on spaceships at the time of the attack survived, and their fate is in your hands. And you will have fun.
-
May 25, 2026It delivers a compelling fusion of deep tactical management and high-stakes roguelite survival that captures the franchise's spirit perfectly. The combat feels intense and demands constant adaptation, yet the experience suffers from a generic narrative and a frustrating lack of clarity regarding long-term consequences. It remains a standout strategy effort despite some mechanical trial and error.
-
May 22, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a love letter to a franchise that’s been criminally underrepresented in the gaming world. This roguelike blends together the moral dilemmas that make the series so memorable with nail-biting RTS battles. While not all elements land equally, the whole package is well worth it for both fans of the franchise as well as those looking for their next rogue-like itch.
-
May 21, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes, in its attempts to fit within the legendary 2004 series, manages to be a beautiful labor of love that still maintains its own distinct, robust identity. From the moment it recreates the iconic opening intro of its predecessor in its distinct art style, the game’s ethos is clear. It is a tightrope act in both homage and self-actualization, capturing the downbeat intensity of its parent series perfectly while translating it seamlessly to a challenging roguelite structure. Its harsh difficulty and endlessly hopeless atmosphere will prove a hurdle for newcomers, but the feeling of perfectly navigating dire crises and barely escaping subsequent Cylon attacks intact never ceases to be exhilarating.
-
May 20, 2026Battlestar Galactica : Scattered Hopes makes no compromises on its gameplay to stay true to the TV series' core vision. It is a brutal fight for the survival of humanity that keeps us under constant pressure—both during combat and management phases—offering absolutely no respite in our flight. It is a wonderful achievement in capturing the essence of the original work and brilliantly translating it into a game, though it does require a specific mindset given how difficult and oppressive it is. The main regret lies in the user interface, which would have benefited from being sleeker to offer some relief from the impossible task of leading our small fleet.
-
May 13, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Shattered Hopes faithfully recreates the feel of the show, with intense combat and interesting decision-making between dogfights.
-
May 13, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes completely caught me off guard. Beneath its ruthless tactical gameplay lies a brutal fight for survival where politics, tough choices, and constant pressure collide. Alt Shift also proves the Battlestar IP couldn’t have landed in better hands.
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is an excellent adaptation of the franchise as a whole, as well as a very good FTL-style game. It features all the standout elements of the TV series, combined with original and well-designed gameplay. The battles are intense, but so are the management phases, and there’s easily enough content to keep you busy for dozens of hours. Boredom does eventually set in, though, since the battle format and crises don’t change up enough. But for a fairly modest, low-priced game, it remains a genuine success, and you can’t help but relaunch a space adventure every now and then with great pleasure.

May 11, 2026Reaching the end of a game of Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes doesn't take very long—assuming everything goes smoothly—but we are nonetheless talking about a highly replayable title that thrives precisely on the variety of situations it presents and the weight of the choices you are called upon to make. This is particularly true of the system events, which, in our view, constitute the game's most successful element due to the sheer range of scenarios they offer. The combat mechanics work well, too—characterized by their lean, responsive nature—though they do tend to become somewhat repetitive over the long haul. All in all, after about 25 hours, we felt fully satisfied with the experience, even though the publisher claims there are 50 hours' worth of content available for completionists. Considering the accessible price point, there really is nothing to complain about.
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes does a great job of wrapping the 2004 TV series aesthetic around a tense and fraught roguelite battle for survival.
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a challenging space-based strategy outing that'll delight fans of the series and roguelike fans who appreciate having their spirits crushed.
-
May 11, 2026While the battle system is somewhat simplistic in nature, the tension created by constant crises, overwhelming enemy odds, and infighting amongst your fleet allows Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes to create a great atmosphere worthy of the Battlestar Galactica name.
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes feels like a genuine, honest extension of the cult favorite 2004 television show. It perfectly captures the dark, unrelenting tone of hopelessness that the TV show became known for. The hectic space combat has a fun, brisk pace to it that never overstays its welcome, and it is brilliantly balanced by more human moments with the crew on your ship. It doesn't necessarily reinvent the wheel for the roguelite genre, but if you're a fan of the franchise, this is going to be a game that will make you quite happy.
-
May 11, 2026I can’t think of a game that does a better job of constantly applying pressure, leaving you with an overwhelming sense of dread, than Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes. There are enough scenarios and options to keep things fresh even after dozens of runs, and I really love the combat that leaves you truly fighting for survival until the last second. This certainly isn’t a game to play to relax, but for those who want an interesting management game that offers a unique feel, you’ll find it here, whether you’re a fan of Battlestar Galactica or not.
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes tests how well you hold up under the pressure of command by forcing you to play a game of whack-a-mole against endless waves of Cylon attacks, political crises, and ethical dilemmas that threaten to tear your fleet apart from within while you're simultaneously putting out both literal and metaphorical fires. Neither the pausable real-time combat nor the turn-based strategic management phases are about winning outright so much as they are about escaping without taking too many losses and making the best of bad situations, which keeps tensions high. It's not visually spectacular, but it does have a style that feels true to the BSG series. And like any great roguelike, its random upgrades and ever-escalating challenge modifiers have no trouble justifying another run even dozens of hours in, after you've seen each crisis story play out multiple times.
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a captivating space roguelite that allows you to engage in tactical real-time space battles, but also to manage resources and to make tough decisions to keep your fleet alive in the war among the stars. Even if things get a bit repetitive here and there, the diverse and multi-layered systems offer enough depth for numerous playthroughs.
-
May 11, 2026There’s solid gameplay, but it’s a grind to find anything encouraging when everything is going wrong all the time, which does fit the IP and experience. And life in general, I suppose. So say we all.
-
May 12, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes immerses us in the atmosphere of the acclaimed TV series through a tactical, story-driven interstellar journey. The roguelite gameplay is well-designed, though the high difficulty level might discourage newcomers to the genre. The art style and soundtrack are also excellent, though voice acting for the narrative scenes would have added a level of depth and player immersion.
-
May 11, 2026Ultimately, Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes succeeds because it grasps precisely which aspect of the series truly deserved to be adapted into a game: the arduous struggle of holding together a community in flight. The fleet management system works precisely because it forces you to live with the consequences of what you leave behind. Its limitations become apparent when crises and points of interest lose their element of surprise, when factions exert less influence than promised, and when the heroes remain more functional than memorable. However, the game is bolstered by a generous mechanical framework: diverse Gunstars, randomized abilities, varied enemies, distinct builds, a Compendium, and permanent bonuses lend real substance to its replayability—even when the narrative component begins to tread along paths that have become all too familiar. It is neither the most spectacular adaptation of Battlestar Galactica, nor the most consistent: when it focuses on risk, timing, and compromise, Scattered Hopes can be truly compelling; yet, when it relies too heavily on the repetition of its scenarios, it remains a solid, intelligent space roguelite—albeit one that is less surprising than it could have been.
-
May 11, 2026You were expecting me to write, “that’s what everyone says,” weren’t you? Well, think again—not least because Alt Shift’s game strikes me as the polarizing sort: those who manage to click with the gameplay loop and find the challenge posed by the Extinction levels truly galvanizing could easily sink dozens of hours into it; personally, however, after just seven or eight runs, I’d already had my fill due to the lack of situational variety. What is undeniable, though, is that the Battlestar Galactica-esque atmosphere hits the mark perfectly.
-
May 11, 2026Scattered Hopes captures the atmosphere of the TV series quite well, though it has some shortcomings in terms of design and balance.
-
Jun 9, 2026Although I'm not quite as keen on this setup as the one we saw in Deadlock, it's still a title worth checking out if it sounds appealing. There aren't many games that manage to draw inspiration from FTL and still be worthy titles in this genre, and if you're keen on decent alternatives within roguelites, have a soft spot for Battlestar Galactica, and want to experience the nightmare the crew in the TV series had to endure, I think you should check out this game.
-
Jun 1, 2026Scattered Hopes has exciting combat and delights in pushing difficult choices. The first few runs are fantastic, but it starts repeating itself alarmingly quickly.
-
May 27, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is an entertaining tactical adventure that takes you through every step of being hunted down by machines. From fighting battles, to fixing your fleet, to dealing with sparse resources and dwindling morale.
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes quickly pulled me in with its storytelling, tough choices, and RTS gameplay, making every run tense and rewarding. It has a few stumbles, especially with some repetition, slowdown, and a final boss that felt more luck-based than skill-based, but overall, this is still a really solid journey worth taking.
-
May 12, 2026A smart blend of features that successfully captures the tension and style of the incredible TV show. But once you finished a few runs, it becomes pretty evident that the game lacks the necessary depth, speed and variety for a strategy game that aims to be highly replayable. It's not a bad game, for sure, but not a great one either.
-
May 13, 2026The difficult decisions vividly reflect the struggle for survival. However, the weak, unfaithful soundtrack and the tedious tactical maneuvering in the real-time battles are disappointing.
-
May 12, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is an interesting concept, but it falls short of finding the sweet spot between challenge and choice.

May 17, 2026Despite its modest presentation, Scattered Hopes is a game more than worthy of bearing the Battlestar Galactica name. Although as a roguelike it may feel slightly less powerful than others in its genre, its gameplay loop is addictive, its atmosphere keeps you on edge, and it offers enough variety to make you want to repeat the quest it presents over and over again. Alt Shift has managed to capture the essence and tension of the source material, though the execution falls short in some areas, such as its overall length or the features that define it as a roguelike. Still, if you’re eager to relive those “33 minutes” that marked the beginning of the TV series, there’s no better game to do so.
-
May 11, 2026Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is playable for a run or two, and it has flickers of the series that inspired it, but spend too much time in its company and it simply becomes robotic.
