Best shooter this year by far, sure the single player isn't much to like but the single player isn't what's important it's the multiplayer and the multiplayer shines very bright. Amazing game-modes, good weapons, leveling scale, gorgeous graphics, everything is just right in the multiplayer.

Please don't throw Stones at me but; I didn't like the 3rd game of the Numeric titles in the series.
Only what I'm going to say about that Is It didn't feel user friendly to me personally.

Although the 4th Installment is brilliant, you can have a hell of a good time playing it, it's a great Battlefield game.

Crossing over from the Call of Duty franchise to the Battlefield franchise wasnt easy, ive been playing CoD since 2009 and been playing Battlefield since 2010. At the time, I was a CoD fanboy and didnt play anything else, I thought to myself "This game is so good, there will never be a better shooter", and while that was true for some of the CoD games I played, the series quickly came to a downfall. I had pre-ordered BO2 hardened edition and payed roughly £100 for it, a mistake I would regret. That was when I told myself that I would never play another CoD again. What was there to play then? Battlefield. As I said earlier, it was hard for me to cross over, mainly because the game styles from the two games differed so much, CoD was run and gun, Battlefield was PTFO. I got BF3 for my birthday and played the heck out of that game, I simply loved it. Eventually I actually got good at it, and at the end of my BF3 days I was actually proud to call myself a good Battlefield player.

When BF4 was announced I was very excited, and eventually I pre-ordered the Limited Edition and BF4 Premium, something that I have not regretted. When the game came out it was a mere disappointment, lots of bugs and glitches, client and server crashes, game modes broken etc. They had also nerfed the vehicles, giving them a limited supply of ammunition, a mechanic which I hate. They had increased the time it took to reload flares and ECM Jammer from 7 secs to 22 secs, something which keeps you from killing people before some person with a stinger locks on to you and you have to go back to your base. I have to say though that playing as infantry is a lot of fun now, more than it was in BF3, but the horrible netcode gives you those "How the f*ck did he kill me?" moments. I would have given this game a 7/10 until I heard that DICE will be making the limited vehicle ammo thing for hardcore servers only, and also possibly changing the Flare/ECM reload time. That made me give the game a 8/10. Of course, they will be fixing the bugs, and when they do the game will propably get a 9/10 by me. The campaign had a horrible story but very satisfying and fun battles, but Battlefield as CoD is centered around the multiplayer and not the singleplayer.

If you dont mind people having all the unlocks before you and being at a disadvantage, I suggest you buy the game 1 or 2 months after the release. But if you can resist the bugs and want to have all the unlocks at the same time as the others, then I highly recommend that you buy the game now.

Multiplayer is great, rushed release though.
SIngleplayer is screwed from the FOV that you cannot change. FOV only affects the MP, so if you bought this game for SP and fear LOW FOVs, you should return it before opening it.

Graphic effects are overdone, balance feels wrong, snipers are too effective. Not happy with the state of this game at all and I'm a BF fan over COD. I was thinking of giving this 6/10 but after a 2 year wait and what I thought was going to be an awesome game i'm going to have to give it 4/10.

What the (This could literally be the entire review of the campaign but I'm going to move on.) Not like it starts off confusing, it keeps on being confusing throughout the entire thing. It starts off in a car, with a "funny" joke. Then you go back in time where DICE thought they were "cool", 13:37, seriously DICE, be realistic for once. To compare, BF3's campaign was varied and had a lot of cool things in it, like you could be in a jet, and iirc an attack chopper, and amongst dozens of tanks. This one, nothing. You're in a tank for about 3.5 minutes and a boat for about 5 minutes. That's IT. I could compare the singleplayer to the horrible MW3 campaign and STILL the BF4 campaign would stand out as the absolutely worst. You have missions that apparently require stealth. Every time, I've just pulled out the gun and shot the crap out of the AI cause there's no obvious path to walk around them. But wait, does it have to be this difficult? Am I maybe thinking too much? Yes I am, the AI in the BF4 campaign is stupid. They have no ears, no sense of anything sneaking behind them. Then you also got your own AI, which is apparently the slowest and worst scripted AI ever. You always have to run in front of them to be able to progress while shooting. And if you do so, the scripted enemies will show up BEHIND you. They pop up like you don't have adblock or something. Other than that, the plot is confusing, seems like this one guy is the reason for all this, then stuff happens then there's no conclusion, not even a pointer for what would happen or a sequel. Wouldn't want to play this campaign at all again, the story is less than interesting and the gameplay is worse than regular CoD run and gunning.

Now over to multiplayer, which apparently is the only thing this game is made to do. Hey, morons, you pay to have a singleplayer too, even if you don't play it. Could've probably saved 10 bucks on not having a singleplayer at all.
The multiplayer is good enough, still not better than BF3. People are freaking about this levolution crap. It's NOT the biggest or greatest thing ever, it's just a slightly scripted event that people want to abuse so that it happens IMMIDEATLY. So you're playing most of the time in a levoluted map. Some morons would say that it's "game changing". I would just call it a minor inconvenience. There are minor improvements from BF3, like the weapons got more stuff, you can choose better between special stuff for your classes. But that doesn't matter at all, because of the one thing DICE has not a single clue in, which is the ****ing netcode. BF3 was bad, but this takes it to an entirely new level. This is also the reason I would say the full release feels more like an alpha, as the beta had extremely close to none issues with this. The servers crash left and right, now there have been a bunch of patches and STILL the servers are extremely unstable and the netcode ****s up every now and then. The hit detection is gone, there's nothing. Snipers are useless 90% of the time due to a bad netcode. DMRs are completely useless as they deal no damage at all at any range. Then you have assaults and carbines which are the only weapons that works decent, then you have LMGs which are STILL the most overpowered things about the game. When the second assault DLC comes, then guess which maps EVERYONE's gonna play. Your favourite meatgrinder maps! There's also big issues when it comes to things. Suppression is still a dumb thing and is even worse now. Defibs have to be charged up now, and WHO knows about that? About 0.1% of everyone playing. So you get revived most of the time with 20 health and die immideatly. Thanks DICE, please tell everyone before making these changes. At least the spawn protection is gone when you spawn on other players.
Also, the feature I've been excited for in this game, the commander mode. Completely ruined. I'd rather go back to BF2's way of handling things you could use. They should've kept that, where you had to destroy certain things to hinder the enemy commander in using things, then you had to use engineers to get them back up. And now you have to hold points to be able to use things? Like, it's the opposite of what it should've been. This doesn't balance it out, it's more like whoever gets first to the objective is the winner if both commanders are in play. If the enemy got all the points, what the hell are you supposed to use? You have absolutely nothing to help out with, and the enemy got EVERYTHING in the world. This is what I've gotten from just looking at gameplay. Unbalanced ridiculousness.

Tl;dr, one of the worst and least fun singleplayer campaigns ever (I do enjoy a good singleplayer experience), a mediocre multiplayer mode which doesn't improve anything from the previous game, a spoiled return of commander mode and an extremely buggy and laggy game overall.

First, Battlefield 4 is way better than any CoD game, that's a fact.
The big fights on 32vs32 maps are fun, dynamic, beautiful.
It's overall a good game. Though, this game has big weaknesses : -too much vehicles. It doesn't give a good idea of war combats. 10 infantry soldiers and 20 people in vehicles for each team kills the interest. You still can have fun not being in a vehicle,

-too much vehicles. It doesn't give a good idea of war combats. 10 infantry soldiers and 20 people in vehicles for each team kills the interest. You still can have fun not being in a vehicle, but you'll probably kill less, die more and it may become frustrating at times.
-the maps are not good. They are similar, not creative, not that interesting. After a few games, you've see, it all. They are also not very numerous, and if you want more, I guess you'll have to pay more.
-The levolution is... not impressive. It's just scripts that launch at a certain time of the game and it's... yeah, meh. They basically built their trailers around it, and it's bland in game.
-It's pretty much the same as BF3. I know a lot of people keep saying this, but it's true. It's the exact same thing, except two or three little things. And now that's a problem 'cause if you played a lot of BF3, no need to buy it. At all. Stay on the 3rd. For the first few hours, you'll have fun, then it will get boring very quickly and you'll regret the money you've spent.
Same thing for the people who didn't like BF3, you won't like BF4 either.
-They are selling a game $60 when it is barely playable. Crashes every 2 games, lags, freezes, bugs, ...
The game is clearly not finished. For such a price, it would be legitimate to expect a new polished game.
It's not new and not polished AT ALL.

I wanted to give EA a chance with this game after what they said. It was BF, I really thought they wanted to take care of the series, at least because it could be a mountain of money. They didn't. This game is a failure. Not a complete failure, some things are good, but still a failure.
    Totally not worth the money.

Multiplayer 4/10 Netcode/lag/crashes/server lag, it's all there. I have played to battle rank 20 with more than 50% crashes. I've forwarded my ports, I've re-installed the firmware on my router, I've downloaded the amd beta drivers, I've repaired the game, I've checked every possible fix out there, and I still crash. It's not fun. When I can play, I find myself being killed around corners, through walls, and never beating anyone 1 on 1 at point blank. The only way to get kills is to flank and kill from behind, and even then when I try to, they wind up figuring out I'm shooting them in the back and one shoting me instantly. It's never taken more than 2 bullets, less than a half a second, to kill me, no matter the distance they shoot from. I can't kill anyone 100+ meters before they kill me, it's just not possible. My accuracy on conquest is under 5%, while on domination (close range sneaking up on people) it's 15%. It might be because I suck, but I'm not the only one.

Single player 6/10 I enjoyed it, but to be honest it wasn't action packed. There were moments in the scripted story that were amazing, and I really loved it, but the actual game-play was terrible. I played on normal, and the ai was pathetic. I enjoyed how they tried to flank me every now and then, but it was like shooting fish in a bucket, completely without a point and felt like a grind to the next action packed story. It was a better movie, even though the story-line wasn't really that comprehensible, than it was a fps.

I'll give it an 8 because I'm nice and I really want updates so I can play this damn thing. In the future, please try to fix all these bugs before release, not everyone is as forgiving as me.

Everyone, they have done it again! EA team has demonstrated once more their talence in leading the world's modern warfare gaming standard, which set up the milestone and paved the path of FPS gaming for future generations, which probably influeneced and inspired the whole world for many years afterwards.

BF4 is indeed a masterpiece of video game design. I am grateful that I have the honor to become one of a handful of the enlightened masses who possess the knowledge to truly decipher the great meanings and philosphy buried deeply inside this fantastic achievement of art work. The gameplay is fast, fluid, and utterly innovative. This game is so innovative that it does not need to innovate any more. Name one other first person shooter that changes as little as Battlefield while maintaining a large player base, inspiring the whole world and enlightening the public mass. It is impossible. Why? Because only Battlefield has achieved that kind of state and EA team had perfected their technique and dedicated lots of resources in paving the future of video gaming standards.

The story is a beautiful metaphor in itself. The player represents an enlightened and chosen individual who understands the true brilliance of the series. The enemies represent the uneducated masses who cannot comprehend the ridiculously high quality of the installment, and it is the job of the enlightened to deliver true justice to the mainstream.

There is absolutely no other video game that can match BF4's intense and fast paced gunplay. The game is so skill based that it takes skill to make the game take skill. People have to come up with new, inventive ways to restrict themselves so they can come up with an in game challenge. This develops the skills of the player and leads to a much more knowledgable individual. An enlighted BF4 player can easily best a player of the competition, especially in games which require teamwork.

All in all, BF4 is the most competitive game of the previous generation and will undoubtedly be one of the most competitive of the coming generation as well. The game tells a beautiful story and continues the series' affinity for innovation. Excellent work EA. The enlightened embrace you with open, next generation arms.

One of the most amazing multiplayer experiences today. As a sequel to Battlefield 2, which I loved, it fine tunes the graphics and adds an interactive, enjoyable map experience. Better than BF3, this is a must buy, as compared to Ghosts, which barely runs at Bad Company 2 graphics. Definitely worth EVERY penny, as I was addicted. I got more hours in this game in a week than I did in all of BF3.

I'm not usually one to write a poor review for something but I just can't help myself with this game. I was originally planning to wait until Xbox One before I bought this but seeing the Ads on the Internet/Television/posters and the stand in the shop I caved and well quite frankly I wish I bought Call Of Duty (something I vowed not to do after playing the mindless drivel that was Black Ops and then playing the masterpiece BF3) I guess it's not all bad the graphics and textures are just as awe inspiring as BF3 if not better not many games can get the sea o actually look like the sea, walking around a city I felt like I was actually walking around a real city if not a little lifeless for somewhere that is apparently in all out civil war besides the obviously placed AI enemy and a few straggling civilians. The gameplay however feels like they've copied and pasted everything from BF3 into a semi different-ish scenario. however the major downfall for me has to be the fact I haven't actually been able to get any further than the third mission (I'll keep this as spoiler free as possible) while driving (sailing?) a boat back to an even bigger ship I was hit by a huge wave of bugs and glitches planes hovering doing nothing, gunfire coming from an invisible enemy ship, enemies disappearing in front of my eyes, at one point my ship randomly exploded for no apparent reason, the (useless) AI screaming at me to watch out for the helicopter that is supposedly coming for us, I saw no helicopter and a ship that is impossible to catch up with its almost as if when you think you're getting close the captain presses a boost button. Now don't get me wrong this game has got potential but I feel they have rushed to get the 360 version onto the market while focussing all their attention to the future Xbox One version of the game and on multiplayer. I haven't played any of the multiplayer aspects of BF4 just yet I was planning to finish the story before doing so but now I'm a little scared that I will be met with endless lag and bugs.
The final verdict is, this game has potential its got brilliant graphics and realistic war zones, but unfortunately lacks the polish it so rightly deserves. If I were you I wouldn't do what I did and waste £40 on a current gen copy and wait that little bit longer for next gen warfare.

    Really this is two games:

Singleplayer 1/10 Complete waste of time. Levels are horrendously designed, AI sucks, dialog sucks, story suck, mechanics are possibly good but who know because the level design is pants. Multiplayer 9/10 Takes all the best from previous bf games and improves the gameplay. Technically it looks fantastic. Level design is much improved. Only hampered

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
