    Are you kidding me?
It doesn't feel like you are playing battlefield game.
Great graphics, terrible single player game play.
It is like Witcher 3. Overrated boring game.

I miss Batllefield Bad company 2. It was the best.....

Don't fall for the HYPE! Casual gameplay for kids!

Its just another marketing trick. Battlefield1 is simply Battlefront with other skins. Compared to Battlefield4 or even 3 this is just a mediocre overhyped markting bullcrap. Honestly, they say Battlefield1 because of WW1, but this is probably the biggest insult to all of the fallen soldiers in WW1 in terms of media coverage.

Expect to get bored of this game really fast. It is made for casuals. This is a real review from a real gamer with standards unlike the casuals that continue to give perfect scores to Battlefield 1. This game has way too many flaws to be anything close to an 8 let alone a 10.

Content: The game lacks content. No hardcore. I dont care if it's delivered later. It should be in the game

    Content:
The game lacks content. No hardcore. I dont care if it's delivered later. It should be in the game already. That's lazy and it smells just like the EA MODEL which is $$$$$$$. Progression is very slow and very unrewarding. Lack of customization. These dtails alone remove any 10/10 scores given to the game.

    Gameplay:
While new mode operations is a fun mix between rush and conquest it is still yet another sniper fest. Every map in almost all game modes encourages sniper play. Snipers are ROLFSTOMPING other players with martini henry. Medic is overpowered. Assault is basically a dummy. Support is completely useless.

The worse part is that the game get boring VERY FAST. Check out the official forums. Hundreds of players are reporting that they only play 1-2 hours and get bored. They love the game but that's all they play. That tells you right there the game was made for casuals. People that only put in a small amount of time into the game then get bored and move on.

Battlefield 1 is the most casual game ever made. For the love of God STOP comparing this game to bad company 2. Bad company 2 was a masterpiece. The best game in the series. The most balanced game in the FPS genre. Battlefield 1 is the most unbalanced, buggy, and casual game in the series.

    Gunplay:
The most terrible gun mechanics I have ever seen. You are more accurate running and hip firing then you are standing still. Guns give out pathetic damage and soldiers are bullet sponges eating it all up. Some guns have recoil EVEN BEFORE YOU FIRE THE FIRST BULLET. LMGs are completely worthless. I mean the list goes on and on.

    Map design:
Most maps are made for sniper play. Probably to cater to the COD crowd that moved on from call of duty.

    Skill:
Skill has been removed from the game. People are averaging Kill Death Ratios of over 20.00!!!! Unlike previous battlefields, the average player in BF1 will finish the game with a 67-2 kill/death. This game is extremely easy even for someone who just joined. I have been playing since the release of BF2. Battlefield games have always had a nice learning curve. You don't just walk in this game and are automatically good. That happens in BF1. Players are reporting that they were terrible players before but not they average high KDs. I, for example, have never liked snipers and I finished one game 43-1 as a sniper in BF1. I have always been a terrible sniper. And yet this happens? I doubt that other players suck that badly. No, the game is just too easy.

    Vehicles:
Light tank got nerfed into oblivion. Planes are useless and the AA gun is beyond overpowered. Its range reaches way across the maps!!!! Cavalry is still overpowered. You are shot with almost a full clip and you dont die but you swing your sword and you one shot kill your opponent LMFAO give me a break.

This game is AT BEST a 6/10. There's no way this is in the league of bad company 2 or BF2 or BF3 or even BF4. You guys reviewing this game giving it a 10/10 have ZERO standards. You've no idea what a good battlefield game is. If you did, you'd know that BF1 is absolute casual trash compared to games like BF2 and Bad Company 2.

    Pros:
The game is beautiful, I don't ever expect a BF game to look or sound bad.
Some of the gameplay, single player & multiplayer, does a very good job at portraying the horrors of war. Cons: Game is a blatant reskin of Star Wars Battlefront, typical EA fashion. The "Rock, paper, scissors" gun scheme has absolutely ruined the game IMO. (Explained: most guns use a "cone-style"

(Explained: most guns use a "cone-style" programing for the bullets, just like SW Battlefront, where any/all of the bullets fire in a completely random huge cone whether you are aiming down sights or not.)
    Typical Dice engine bugs/glitches.
Campaign is only 4-5 hours to finish.
GPU crashes with up to date GPU and drivers, and re installs.

    Conclusion:
While the game was obviously not going to be a realistic portrayal of WWI warfare, they went so far out of reality for the campaign and single player, I honestly wonder why the chose to make this a WWI game. It honestly seems like they wanted to make a WWII game but chose WWI to maybe draw on the centennial
    .
The campaign is a cake walk even on hard, with AI who are laughably stupid, and the story while good at parts, is insultingly short and lackluster, with absolutely no grounds in reality what so ever.

I really wanted to like the game, I love war history and have always loved the BF series. But this game is in my opinion the worst BF game in years, if not ever.
I was bored of the gameplay in 5 hours, and with the GPU crashes every 10 minutes in multiplayer I just refunded it (At least Origin actually has good CS and a fair refund policy).

If you love the game, that is fine, I am glad you do, but to me this is not a Battlefield game, much less a WWI game.
I have hopes of maybe a good WWII game next, praying for 1944/1945, DONE RIGHT.

I feel like this is going to pull a hardline and die off in weeks.

It looks beautiful and the sound is stunning, but putting that aside you have gun play (which a first person shooter is based around) that is absolutely terrible. They had the chance to use the setting to do something new with Battlefield... instead they made the same game again and just made a mockery of WW1. Any other time I'd think it is fine, but we've had so many of these games, this should have been the time to bring it back to basics and get that raw combat down.

It's a missed opportunity and it doesn't feel like WW1 at all... people whine

It's a missed opportunity and it doesn't feel like WW1 at all... people whine on about COD, but man DICE have been strumming the same tune since BF2, when will they finally change things up? Also when will they ever deliver a good Single Player? Surely they could hire someone to pull it off? Until then, we'll continue to get the same old MP with the same old bad SP campaign.

I decided to return this game after a combined total of about 15 hours single player and multiplayer gameplay.

The primary reason: the game engine is watered down garbage. It's the same one used by Star Wars: Battlefront. The gameplay is surprisingly similar SW:BF. When you shoot, it just doesn't feel satisfying. The optimal range feature ends up being very frustrating. I.E. You shoot

When you shoot, it just doesn't feel satisfying. The optimal range feature ends up being very frustrating. I.E. You shoot someone with a support machine gun at 50-100 yards, and it does 10-15 damage. Really? Am I shooting a .22lr at them? I wanted the game to be more like the gameplay of Battlefield 4. The bullet physics seem much more realistic. I feel like they could have pulled that off, but went with the super watered down cartoon-ie feel of SW:BF.

The secondary reason: no joystick support. You can fly planes in single player and multiplayer. But this is yet another Battlefield / Battlefront game that gives the middle finger to joysticks. Judging by the complete lack of joystick support for every BF in the past 10 years, I'm certain they will never add support. It's super frustrating to super awkwardly try to fly a plane with the keyboard only and make longing glances at the perfectly functional joystick sitting on your desk.

That's not to say that I don't see any positives or don't think it might be 'ok' for some to buy so please read on before making your decision on my review.

First let's start with the Positives:
    + Really fantastic graphics.
+ Destructible environments. It's fun to get a sniper out of that house by blowing it to bits with a tank or mortars!
+ Generally stable servers which will only improve further with some fine tuning.
+ Innovative battle modes where you push enemy back and another map loads and you play that one in a sort of tug of war which makes the game feel like it has bigger picture consequences.
+ Despite what some may say, a pretty wide array of weapons considering it's WW1 and IRL each country had only one or two bolt action rifles which 95% of soldiers carried. So they did a good job of 'digging up' extra realism based weapons to include.
+ A couple decent support roles for those who want to do something besides get kills all the time. Support and Medic can both be very useful to the team.
+ It fills a gap in an otherwise stale genre. Let's face it COD has been basically the same game for 10 years now with map packs and a few tweaks being sold as new games. And not really much else besides CS which has been the same game for 15+ years.

    Now the Negatives:
    - As of game release day 1, the game is absolutely loaded with cheaters. Bring up the chat in any map and just watch a few minutes and you'll see people getting 'banned'. Several per match. Which is quite surprising so early in a game's release cycle.
    - Cheaters are not permanently banned! Why oh why would the developers make the decision not to invalidate a CD key I have no idea. I've seen several threads on the topic in the official game forums and the devs feel it would be too 'hard' on paying players. Wow! So they're more concerned with the cash flows from the cheaters than from the paying players?! OK! Anyway, someone gets 'banned' and they'll be right back in a matter of minutes.
    - Guns have no stopping power so only the very last bullet which kills them makes any difference whatsoever to their ability to spaztically run all over, evading your last bullet, and shoot back, greatly favoring twitch reflexes over strategy an tactics.
    - The most solo unfriendly shooter in history. No FF (Friendly Fire) means mic'd up squads of move in one 'mass' and throw out enough lead to mow down any player in their way. As a solo player, you'll be faced 1v5 most every time you see the enemy (though you do have the option to sit back and play sniper). And arguably this does provide some real value to players who like to buddy up.
    - Overall the guns are just 'weird' compared to any other shooter. The closest I can compare it to is Planetside which also doesn't feel like a 'real' shooter if classic play style is your preference. Personally I found all the guns except the sniper rifles just lacked an 'oomf', and had no sense of real power or damage when hitting.
    - Sound. Though the sounds are generally pretty good. It takes an extremely expensive or extremely loud sound system to be able to hear footsteps. Some say its OK, others have the same complaint. Really depends on your system and config. With my headphones I can't hear a damn thing until the very last step which doesn't matter anyway because you're already knifed.

Overall: I think the game does a lot right. But more cheaters than I've seen in any FPS getting kicked from literally every match, an extreme unfriendliness to solo players, weak feeling guns with no sense of impact, and way too silent footsteps which means more knife deaths from behind than you can count all conspire to bring down what could otherwise be a great game.

If the developers change their stance on permanently banning cheaters I might have another look. Until then, I'll pass.

So why does Battlefield still suck?

The game has about as much to do with World War I as the Black guy on the poster. There is zero trench warfare, and nearly all the weapons are automatic or semi-automatic. In other words, it's still a game for the braindead people who don't have a clue.

DICE's philosophy of game design seems to be on the same level as their political philosophy: they want to equalize everything. The game punishes skill and rewards reckless play. Try reviving your teammates and you get instantly killed. Try supporting your teammates with machinegun fire and you get instantly killed. Try doing anything except running around like a chicken on fire, and you get instantly killed.

If that isn't enough, the game now rewards the losing team with a giant equalizer in the form of a huge airship that can more or less kill anything at any spot on the map. So we now have 100% equal gameplay with noone being able to be better than the other. Which is pretty boring for someone who wants more than explosions and nifty sound effects.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a someone who started with 1942 and toped that game about some 2000 hours i am dissapointed with what DICE has been shoveling games with these day's.

The game is NOT interesting..at all!
In the 45 minutes i played this game half of my team was running and gunning pew pewing with LMG'all over the map just ignoring the objectives and the other half was on top of some mountain sniping.Netcode of the game is still FUBAR as you never know who shot you from where and if you rely on the killcam most of the shots/kills are impossible to make ,so in my opinion you would never know is if the player who shot you legit/aimboter/or the killcam is (again)not working properly.

Refunded after one hour and dissapointed that DICE failed yet again in making an enjoyable game i was hoping for.
Sad as i am that the glorious day's of 1942,Battlefield 2 and 2142 are long gone i would never recomend this game to anyone.
Teenagers on the other hand seems to like it it and can't get enough of!

    Refunded and unninstalled ...meh!

This is the Battlefield I have always been waiting for.

Finally, I don't feel that "fat character lag" that I always experience in the past BF.
Now it's as fluid as a Counter-Strike or COD can be.

All that with amazing graphic, building destruction, and all the tank etc...

Finally a game that is polished at launch !

    Feel so great. Thank you

Battlefield 1 tried something a little bit more different... returning to it's roots (even that the original games were center on ww2, but, ok). It didn't bother to compete with COD (in settings i mean), and it succeeded to be more "original" if we can say that.
But even still, Battlefield didn't manage to be a great game, the end product is a kind of mixed experience.

But even still, Battlefield didn't manage to be a great game, the end product is a kind of mixed experience.
The games is divided into chapters or episodes, each one has a different hero and takes place in a different part of the world. Some missions will be on foot with your gun and some others controlling a vehicle can be a tank or a plane. As well some missions will have some large scale battles like the introduction level which is great but then the rest of the games are about infiltrating enemy lines and not being detected (if you want), that end up being boring.
Visually the game looks gorgeous, the Frostbite engine manage to do a good gob at rendering large scale maps with full detail and destructible environments.
Take on mind that Battlefield 1 is a CPU hungry title so... it will consume 100% of it's usage, in case you don't have a really capable CPU you will struggle with some FPS here and there.

The shooting feels akward, like the bullets behave strange, the hitboxes are strange wich results in a high ttk. (not a bad thing for me) Two shots in the chest does the same dmg as two shots in the head, 75 of 100.
Some walls just crumble appart and some can stand all tank shots.
Speaking of tanks, Horses can take more shots than a tank and the rider is magicaly immune to bulleds while riding.
It is now a bit older, but still it feels like the devs released it, and start working on the next title.
Of every Battlefields ive played it, this was the most unbalanced, 1 of 3 games is a stomp match where the best player of the one side would be one of the worst of the other side.
The Matchmaking is terrible. I think it puts the team together by name or just random, no balance in MMR or even Level. i once had a game where my whole team was between level 5 and 20 and the enemy team everyonem was above level 50. (wich has nothing to say but the game results showed me otherwise)
And still glitches, bugs and espesially cheaters are a common sight, battlefield and cheaters are always comming together and EA refuse to do something against it, even support it by making it nearly impossible to report cheaters. This game is arround 5 years old and still players asking ingame how to report cheaters.
its good the vehicles are not that overpowered (if they get focues).
On the tech side, it still somehow manages to mess up my system. i have a good, new PC and still the FPS are not good, constand low FPS or FPS drops are also common by me and my friends and the loadings times are long combined with some crashes every few days.
With the terrible Gun feeling they maybe wantet to show that Guns in WW1 had not the accuracy of a laser, but it stills feels bad.
Sure the battlefield feeling is still there, but it is more frustrating than fun.
I have now 20h of playtime and have the feeling i already saw and archived everthing.

This game is great game-play wise but the problem comes with the thing that it calls itself a WW1 game, which no matter how it looks it is not a ww1 game, it is a weird fiction from EA and don’t even get me started on the SJW propaganda with for ex. black people in the German army on the western front, I’ve always liked the game-play but the inaccuracy just ruins it for me.

Plus, being a soldier of infantry is much less entertaining than drive military equipment because you always get killed in open spaces by all of them. Shooting mechanic is also absolutely horrible, it's impossible to hit the enemy while he's moving because of bullet taking time to fly. This game also doesn't have any bots which I think can make the game more entertaining for players who don't want to become cybersportsmen.

So, this game is complete waste of money and I deeply regret buying it. And I guess I'll never purchase any other part of the series again because the last good part for me was BF2.

I didn't like this piece at all. When people make arguments "This feeling of a weapon is real" or "The elaboration of technique and equipment is wonderful", but for me these are just empty words. I'm not a fan when your sight jumps from side to side, as well as a weapon that blocks the entire view. For some it will be realistic, but when on the other end of the map a guy with a machine gun on a bipod shoots at you without recoil, in my opinion, this is not realism. I want to play the game, not to hone the recoil of the cannon and not hide from the machine guns in the impenetrable bushes, I want to have fun playing the game. For me personally, realism is not so important to me as emotions from gameplay, and such factors as 'Realistic weapons' or 'Game conventions' are not at all interesting to me. Also in this game, in order to open a weapon, you must grind. This is certainly not a minus, but not a plus either. So my conclusion is: if you want to relax, this game is not suitable for you.
    P.S.
This is purely my opinion, and I respect someone else's. Also by 2021, the game has not passed the test of time.

The campaign is good but the multiplayer is a big heap of trash, it sucks. I'm always put inside empty lobbies and when actually put in a full lobby, it's infected with sweats and hackers. I legit saw people flying with aim-bot, it's not fun at all. DON'T BUY!

A beautiful looking game. Amazing from the artistic point of view. Gameplay 7/10 as for Battlefield. However, recently multiplayer completely destroyed by cheaters. Bravo DICE. You're not getting my money for BF 2042.

    Hi fellow gamers,

Wanted to review Battlefield 1 since I recently bought it, lunar year sale Origin. Game has very beautiful graphics, map design is ok.. game mechanics, specially gun mechanics are very bad, yet more frustrating. As an experienced player with more then years of gaming experience, my stake on BF1 is barely casual gameplay, tactically nullified experience. Tactics and thinking in this game isnt giving players an edge.. you can take strategic position, see an enemy in an open field, totally flanked start firing with all the recoil compensation as possible and its better if you had run straight at enemy shooting smg from the hip 30-40 meters away, cuz it wont make a difference. Game is basically how much you horde and how much lead you shoot out + revive, its disappointing. From a game that had recoil and spread pattern for every individual weapon of its own you get to play a game where only sniper hits where it actually aims. If you want to do good forget about this game, if you however take it as like to fly around in pieces by overly packed enemies and explosives while enjoying graphics, well this is your game for doing good isnt rewarding, being experienced is even less rewarding. Games arent what they have been, at least FPS shooting is bad, its all hype, so im considering for a long time now to play singleplayer only, its getting on my nerves anyway. BF1 did good in one, to open my eyes and realize that pointing and shooting is different from aiming and shooting, the thing i wont sure forget lol

Has DICE made the Great War Great again? Well, it's certainly delivered a fresh-feeling shooter in a very saturated market. But the missing modes are felt. [Issue#257, p.58]

Battlefield 1 is better than its predecessors in almost every way. [Christmas 2016, p.102]

Battlefield is back in shape and more so with fresh theme of the first Great War! After a long time, the campaign is successful and multiplayer is traditionally excellent. So, this year your choice is set! [Issue #269]
