I found the experience more entertaining than frustrating, and, with a price of about $25, the game is fun enough for those who have twitchy trigger fingers.
-
All action as the gameplay is fast and intense. The controls are great; the gameplay fluidly switches from land-based mech combat to airborne fighting without a single hiccup to the flow. However, the mission structure can get a little repetitive before too long.
-
If you're an action game fan and you want something that you can pretty much jump into and play without having to pore over a manual -- and you need something to occupy your time while you're waiting for those other, bigger games to come out -- BEA is a good candidate for your time.
-
The controls are clearly designed for a console and were never properly translated to the PC. Hardcore gamers will probably scoff, but those looking for a fun action title that offers several hours of diversion, this one may be worth picking up.
-
An inadequate addition to the mission-based sci-fi sim genre. The branching mission paths are a nice idea, but, in practice, they could have allowed for more mission variety than what the final product actually delivers.

Battle Engine Aquila could be cruelly summarised as a poor mans Yager. Its fair-to-middling, fun but shallow, and suffers for its missed opportunities.
-
TotalGames.netYou can happily blaze away all day were it not for those objectives, playing smart is the developer's desired way for you to play but its not as much fun.
-
The controls from this port are done relatively well, but the overall gameplay prevents this game from standing out as anything more than an average game at best.
