Play very rhythmic, cartoon graphics, beautiful voiceovers. Frantic and pressing original story perhaps too original. Once started is the desire to never break away to know the continuation of the story and what will happen. Excellent mix of QTE and dialogues. only many flaws in the secondary plots.

Batman – The Telltale Series is probably the best version of the Batman story I've experienced in any media: the multiple plot twists, tragic villains you feel sorry for and the exploration of the thin line between good and evil are really what makes the game stand out. To complement the gripping plot, the game has a top-notch soundtrack by Telltale's composer, Jared Emerson-Johnson and there are even some minor tweaks to the gameplay thanks to the new crime scene investigation and attack plan segments.

Unfortunately, the game does suffer from what every Telltale adventure I've played since The Walking Dead suffers from which includes laggy animations, lip-synching issues and audio issues. If the game were better polished, it would've received a higher score but even in its current state, I would still recommend it.

Five Word Review: Batman and TellTale, good match.
Favorite Thing: Story was cliche but enjoyable and full of action.
Least Favorite Thing: The game hitches a lot. Once or twice it was really bad and impacted the flow of the story.

    Playtime: ~ 8h
    Enjoyment: 8/10
Recommendation: If you're a fan of TellTale or Batman.

I found this to be a really good experience. Solid story and setting, enough interesting turns. Not a huge Batman fan so a lot of things were new to me. Didn't feel the choices made a huge difference but I'd say this is well worth a look at a good price. About 6-7 hours worth here.

I’ve always admired Telltale games as they were and are a very interesting blend of dialogue choices and QTE driven events. They’re not for everyone but for those that enjoy them they are always a bar for quality. Given my love for the Batman character and world I was overjoyed to see a Batman game in this genre. They’re not for everyone but for those that enjoy them they are always a bar for quality. Given my love for the Batman character and world I was overjoyed to see a Batman game in this genre. With the exception of one part it met my expectations and then some. The story and characters are fantastic. The game did a great job of taking established characters and finding new ways to use them or tweak their back stories and make them feel fresh. Messing with established canon could have been what sunk this game if done wrong but I can’t think of a part I would criticize or didn’t enjoy. Penguin; Vicky Vale; Selina Kyle; Harvey Dent; Gordon; the list goes on; I enjoyed how they were all presented. I also loved how this batman could be played as just a tad more brutal than some interpretations. Between roughing up suspects and the fights themselves being more brutal than in some previous Batman games I was happy with the style. I especially liked how in some larger fights you could plan out your attack by linking objects to people so you had some freedom of choice in the fights although sometimes it was more linear. The voice acting was fantastic across the board. The graphics style was mostly what you would expect from Telltale. It had a good style and use of colours but I wills say the hair detail on some characters was poor as was some injury details. For instance in one scene Bruce is applying bandages to his shoulder after a fight and they are coming off bloody but his body itself had no blood. Clothing and water detail were especially good and stood out. The puzzles with the exception of a couple were great. You had to link items to get a full picture of what happened at the scene. A couple times the objects linked made no sense to me but it was trial and error and the majority of them could be solved by logic. One other thing I will mention is that you are going to want to use a Telltale account while playing. I learned the hard way that in future Telltale Batman games you can’t simply import your save game file that it has to be done using cloud saves or by manually saying which choices you picked in this game. I hadn’t remembered my choices from years ago so that’s why I replayed this now. The controls were decent although having combos of “Shift + Q/E” at times were annoying.

I played Batman: A Telltale Series on Linux using Wine. The game never crashed on me and I didn’t notice any bugs. What I did notice however was some of the worst optimization I have ever encountered. At times the game would drop to 0 FPS and there was a near constant state of sluggish, jittery moments. Even when the frame rate was well above 60 it could feel that way. Furthermore this wasn’t a Wine issue as when I first bought this game years ago I encountered the same problems on Windows. This also means that, in the over four years since release, this issue was never solved or patched by the developers which is shameful. The game also uses way more system resources than something of it’s visual quality should. Previous Telltale games didn’t have this issue so I’m not sure why Batman does. There are 3 AO settings; an AA toggle and 2 other graphics options to adjust. You can pause the game at any time but can’t skip cut scenes. Alt-Tab doesn’t work. The Telltale account for cloud saves worked just fine in Wine on Linux.

Graphics Engine: Telltale Tool version 27
    Game Version Played: 1.0.0.1
    Input Used: Keyboard and Mouse
    Disk Space Used: 13.8 GB

Settings Used: All High; DOF Off; AA On; 1080P
    GPU Usage: 0-100 %
    VRAM Usage: 1489-3857 MB
    CPU Usage: 6-34 %
    RAM Usage: 2.5-3.4 GB
    Frame Rate: 2-144 FPS

Outside of the terrible optimization this was a fantastic game. My gut wants to give it a low score because of how it ran but it was too damn good and fun to do that. If you enjoy Telltale games or the Batman series this should have something for you. I finished all five episodes in 7 hours and 37 minutes which felt like a good length.

Telltale's own Batman universe with the same characters is hundred percent a must not miss. Aside from the usual Telltale fun you get from their games, Batman reveals an extremely good writing and story telling from the bottom up, which for me made this title completely satisfying. Batman: The Telltale Series is definitely an unforgettable experience, even though it's kind of a technical disaster.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman Telltale Series is a good game. Contains an engaging, original story. It shows that heroes also have a dark side. The game allows freedom of choice, so that Batman personality can be defined by the player. It would need to improve on the gameplay, which gets repetitive throughout the game. The investigation process should be much better. Expand

The game is a great batman story with lots of alternate choices and quick time events. I always enjoy these types of games because the story is usually great. The graphics are great even though it's a cartoony art style, its unique and I think it works for all telltale games.

I was never truly drawn to story-based games, although I did appreciate them; my heart belonged to competitive multiplayer. That all changed when I stumbled upon Cryaotic, a fantastic YouTuber whose series had me hooked. But it was one particular series that broke the mold for me, making me pick up Batman: The Telltale Series. This game blew my mind with its ability to let me craft my own story, engage in dialogues with characters, and make life-altering choices. Batman: The Telltale Series has earned an everlasting spot in my heart. In fact, it was this very game that introduced me to the world of Telltale games, and for that, I'll be eternally grateful.

The experience of playing Batman: The Telltale Series was truly unique. It felt as if I had stepped into a real-life movie, assuming the role of the "real" protagonist and steering the narrative with my answers and choices. It was an exhilarating feeling. Every character was carefully crafted, and the entire game exuded a polished, high-quality finish.

I must admit, I didn't expect this game to offer completely divergent routes that would overhaul the whole storyline from A to Z. However, the choices did matter, albeit to a certain extent. They shaped the way the story was told while keeping the core idea intact. And you know what? I didn't find that disappointing at all. Some choices carried more weight, influencing the long-term, while others affected only short-term outcomes. The beauty lay in never being certain which decision would lead to which consequence. Characters changed, their interactions with you transformed, scenes unfolded differently - the possibilities were vast. I cherished the opportunity to mold Batman/Bruce according to my own personality and desires. Nonetheless, consequences did loom over every decision, and that's something not to be forgotten. Although we're not talking about alternate dimensions where Batman fights aliens in Budapest, the impact of some choices is still pretty significant. Nonetheless, certain elements remain constant, yet the game weaves such a compelling web that it's hard to discern which ones they are.

Gameplay-wise, there's nothing groundbreaking to boast about. Each episode offered brief segments where I controlled Batman or Bruce, solving puzzles or engaging in various activities. Occasionally, I got to interact with objects, and the dialogue choices gameplay was a key part of the experience. And let's not forget the Quick-Time events, which surprisingly, I enjoyed quite a bit - and I'm not usually a fan of them in most games. Admittedly, the gameplay lacked significant challenges, but that wasn't the main focus anyway. Batman: The Telltale Series thrives on delivering an immersive story rather than challenging boss battles. As a result, this game is accessible and enjoyable for almost anyone. Even my girlfriend, who usually sticks to smartphone games, got swept up in this adventure.

Oh, by the way, let's clear one thing up: Batman: The Telltale Series is not just another adaptation of the original Batman universe. It is an entirely separate entity, standing firmly on its own ground. This means you don't need an ounce of prior knowledge about Batman. You can dive into this game without any influence from previous Batman experiences.

In conclusion, Batman: The Telltale Series is an unforgettable journey of choice and adventure. It transformed a multiplayer enthusiast like me into an avid fan of story-driven games. The power to shape the narrative and the richness of the characters truly make this game shine. While not a gameplay revolution, its focus on storytelling allows virtually anyone to savor this gripping tale. So, if you've ever yearned to become the Batman and explore a captivating world of choices, consequences, and self-discovery, this game is an absolute must-play.

If you can accept the studio's adventure game formula and the fairly large deviations to the canon, then Batman: The Telltale Series is a good game. The story remains gripping, and the additions to the gameplay formula make this feel more refined over the studio's previous efforts. The lack of further technical polish, however, is unfortunate; fixing those issues would've placed this game in the upper echelon of the studio's offerings. As it stands, Batman fans will certainly want to check out this title.
