After the first part, which I liked, I started playing the second one...at first, there was a complete rejection of everything that I saw, I did not like everything...but after playing through the force...just a little more...I was just blown away by what a cool game...you just need to play a little, pump up and then just incredibly cool things start )

Really satisfied with this sequel : the music and the art are as allways magnificent, also they all have their own style that separates them from the first game, so it gives this a unique identity. The interconnected map feel more and more nice to explore after you got a certain amount of updates, the player movement is great. I also feel like the story and lore of the game was a bit more important in this sequel. One change that i really surprised me was the fact that boss battles were optional, in favor of a more rewarding and interesting exploration. I just wished the boss fights had at least some original music, because it could really upgrade the epicness of the fights against these giant robots. I also felt the game was easier but i can't tell if this is really the case, or if it is because of my experience with the first game?
Overall, excellent game, despite a slower pace at the start, you really get into it afterwards. Worth playing

A truly excellent Metroidvania experience. There is a ton of exploration you can do and there's a lot to find in beautifully designed areas. The soundtrack is killer, especially the main theme. Kind of like Harlan Elison meets Stargate. I really enjoyed this game, played it for 15+ hours, got about 99% of the map filled in and 85% of the items. Worth your money. **** Epic Games and their **** app, lack of controller support. Fire up DS4 Windows and you'll be good to use whatever controller you want (I used a ps4 controller). I would encourage you to buy now to support the developer. It's totally worth it. If the first game is on-par with this, I will be picking it up as well. Expand

Axiom Verge 2 is an incredible follow up to the first title and faithful to the Metroidvania genre. Just with the first game, it has good visuals, cool abilities, and I daresay; a better soundtrack than the original. This game does not hold your hand, so it challenges you to find a way to progress. Otherwise, this is a fantastic game, and I hope to see more from this solo developer. Tom Happ, don’t ever stop making games. Expand

Not as good as the original, but still pretty good. Very memorable level design.

Cards on the table: Metroid is a series that I haven't had too close ties to for a long time. I am rather indifferent. That's why I didn't care about the open surroundings and the focus on hand-to-hand combat instead of firearms - but I understand if some fans of the predecessor would have wished for something else. On the other hand, I find it unhappy how lax and low-tension the fights are. For example, I raked the flying ox on the opposite side with an ice ax until it was dead. In such banal arguments, the joy of victory is limited. There are certainly people who have a better sense of direction than I do, because in some places I was quite at a loss as to where to go next. Here is my tip: If in doubt, go to the breach area. By the way, an all-round good innovation is the teleporting of memory points. That saves Indra a long walk or two.

Axiom Verge 2 is a very different sequel that can’t really match the greatness of the original, but that we would recommend to those who enjoy non-linear platformers.

Maybe Axiom Verge 2 is not the sequel that fans of the first game expected. The metroidvania structure appears to be way more focused on exploration and puzzle solving: a different path for the series, but equally enjoyable once you get to understand it.
