    The game is masterpiece.

Ideological heir of Fallout 1/2 with good craft system.
Also have a interesting random encounters.
A bit like "Planet Alcatraz" series because of setting/humor.

Since top-down turn-based RPG currently it is an endangered species - 10/10

P.S. I hope that the creators will not leave the supporting of game and will improve new features.

This is Fallout 3! Love it so far. Reminds me of the old school fallout 1 or 2.
Well worth the $15! I will recommend this game to anyone who love this great type of role play game. This game is the successor of Fallout 2.

A clear example of how a good and well made story make the difference over any other AAA game where they bet for the graphics or open worlds.

Bopping around post-apocalyptic Russia makes all the difference in rekindling the sense of discovery that accompanied the earliest Fallout games, and the distinct Eastern European outlook also manifests in an unsanitized writing style to open up roleplaying opportunities many of today's leading Western RPG studios would balk at. This confidence is what allows the game to touch that late 90's glow without being wholly consumed by it, ensuring ATOM won't go down in our memories as merely a decent homage to a better game. I took a vacation, decided to play as I watched the game. I didn't think I'd like what to expect from indie developers... But the result was unexpected, and now I can not break away from the game for 10 days! I do not want to offend Fallout fans, but I think ATOM has surpassed them, and this is not surprising, because the game was done with the soul and love of the same fans! A masterpiece!

-i expected a game play mechanics like that of wasteland like the ambush, but there is no such thing in this game which make some encounters painfully stupid.
-lack of companions:i talked to every thing that walk, yet i got only 3 of 4 companions, which in turn forced me to accept them(cause combat is really hard alone, and to carry my stuff too).
-some cute bugs:your companion waste his turn making stupid moves,i run from an enemy but he chase me to the end of the world even inside another guarded camp, and i expected something to happen from the guards side like well shoot the thing but no every thing was absolutely fine to them.
-the ending:it was only about your companions and main quest, anything else wasn't consider, unlike fallout where every thing you change for good or bad is mentioned.

Tl;dr: great homage to Fallout 1&2 and you should definitely buy and play this game instead of yet another (how many years ago you stopped counting?) F1&2 replay. But it has flaws...

    1. Overall underdevelopment and quality inconsistency.
At once you have decent quests with variety of options and in another moment - like railway ending to the story of main NPC. Doesn't matter what is your character build, your previous choices - nothing.
In soviet wasteland you can have some NATO weapons, but another, that you can add in your inventory by console will have lines like "...and how this %weapon% got onto soviet soil is a big mystery...". Mayhap, there were some plans to add exNATO settlement of surviving paratroopers? Perhaps, idk, and it's just one of examples.
Some top-weapons requires 70 of their respecting skill (for example, throwing), another 110. Not all builds are equal.
And game consists from 3 main areas. Wastes — the main ones and pretty good, but inconsistent. Dead City — I played after 1.1. and it's rather solid piece, however underground (subway) travel is frustrating. Mountain pass of something is delivered straight from Early Access. Boring as hell.
And nothing will be changed, devs are making new stand-alone DLC instead patches and free ones. Wise financial decision, but, well, gotta to subtract 1 out of 10. It's ok, nobody starts perfect.

    2. Is it really a RPG or they just stole F1 title?
Hard to answer. Skills are real pain, they are scarce, good ones are only combat-oriented and limits your character build imagination. For example, you can't make weak your sniper/hunter/very decent person with a shotgun pass checks for strength of weapon because it's in automatic weapons tree and in the end. And speaking about checks: conversations mostly consist from them. Checking your strength, your dexterity, your luck, checking on your mother, checking on your sister... Oh, well, sorry. And your character phrase choices in conversation are always like [SARCASM]. Even in that game-not-to-mention it was only one of the options. 8/10 now.

    3. They took things from F1&2 and made them worse.
For example, do you remember JHP and AP bullets in those masterpieces? First make more damage, second has +50%, well, armor piercing and half of damage, but overall game system lead that there were some enemies that can be only damaged by APs, because they are heavily armored. Here system is much simpler, I must say casual, and APs (except special experimental weapons, btw, that are nothing but junk without original cartridges) just add 10% to, well, armor piercing. Guns does not have own armor piercing capability, so in Soviet Wasterussia cartridge shoots the gun. And btw, shotguns are lame. Remember combat shotgun burst and you, savescumming? Relax.
Some another examples: stupider AI than 20 years ago (really, an anti-achievement, guys), trade system (the best place to trade is caravan, not an actual shops in the cities), repeating quests to get money are really frustrating, money doesn't matter much from some point anyway, game ending includes only fate of the settlements, companions and yourself, not the people you've met and changed their lives for better or worse, map is really flat (only one floor everywhere), no gun modifications (although there is primitive crafting system that allows you, for example home-make a sniper rifle with optical sight, you can't make an optical sight and place it on any other weapon, nor can other NPCs) and so on.
    7/10.

    4. They took things from F1&2 and didn't make them better.
For example, sex and relations in game. In 1997 and 1998 you couldn't have had the latter, but you was allowed to hire a companion for a night. Same here. Remember things, that evolved in games for last twenty years, remember Mass Effect? Nothing here.
Games did progress. Copying the classics in everything is not a wise decision.
    6/10.

Well, I've add some words about only 2-3 replayability (first, another gender with another choices, burning the wastes for bloody ending, you, murderer of millions), intoxication with way too much easter eggs and nostalgie, but, I'll scare you off. Go and play, fellow fallouter. You have like 20 minutes to get to the steam, while fuze is still burning ;)

I did not want to go through a hundred random encounters just to level up so that I could pass a couple of poorly-designed endgame encounters.

One thing I really cannot understand is why XP rewards for quests are so low. You kill a bunch of stupid rats and get more XP than completing a major branch of the main quest, for example. If the quests had any decent XP rewards, it could have reduced the amount of grinding required to acceptable levels.

To be fair, I did enjoy parts of the game, but these problems made the endgame so disappointing that I am not sure I can recommend it.

The combat is wildly RNG based, making it very difficult at the start as you can easily be overwhelmed by massively superior forces, unlike Fallout. The dialogue tries hard to be funny, cute, or clever, and rarely achieves anything close to that. Most of the time it is skip-worthy. The crafting is confusing, and completely cheese-able as all recipies are available on-line, as well as being known to people that played previously. The weapons are poorly balanced and make no sense (e.g. A sniper rifle with a range of 15m), again unlike most of Fallout's weapons. But the most jarring aspect is the map sizes, which are postage stamp compared to Fallout 1 or 2. Finally, there are many aspects (no spoilers) that were never finished or incorporated into the final game.

I have no idea if the people claiming this is a 'successor' to Fallout in any way are shills (free copies of Atom), never played the games they are comparing this to, or are just copying what the devs claimed. However the tight curves on both enemy, quest complexity, weapons, and medicine are completely absent in Atom RPG. Sure, if you really know the Fallout games you can jump the queue, and if you built your character properly, you can get access to advanced gear earlier than intended. But that is not by design, and shows a depth of knowledge this game never gets close to.

On the positive side, the Russian side does evoke Stalker memories, but only on a superficial level. Also the level design, while overly tight, is well done.

Quests i have to say i found 2-3 interesting,eg the cannibal quest was awesome but sooo flawed. Damn it devs. how did you mess this great quest???

another beef is world encounters. They are 5-6 different ones.Caravan-crazies-bandits-wild animals-lone drifter and slavers. I mean its the wasteland why limit to these 6? Gets repetitive after a while.

If you played this game a year back then play the 1.1 version, its the whole game now albeit with bugs, not gamebreaking bugs but they are there

And the dialogues are the same with every npc and if you dont have the required stats they wont even talk to you,but even if you do have the stats they dont say anything worthwhile.

Perk system is 3-4 perks and the abilities tree for me at least was totally uninteresting.

Otherwise dont let the 5 discourage you. Its a great slav fallout rpg that will give you alot of playhours. The devs have made something solid and interesting and its my opinion when atom 2 comes it will be a true gem.I think this game was their first.Check the game you will not be dissapointed. AAA companies could take notes from this small indie company.Just saw it for 12 euros on steam, best 12 euros you will ever spend guys trust me.Give this game a chance if you liked fallout 1-2

A note for all people crying about the difficulty and claiming having played / or comparing to the original first two Fallout games. Clearly they never did as FO1&2 were as hard if not harder, original Fallout was as much savescum game as this one...

Many funny references to its elders in the dialogs or descriptions also (Fallout 1&2, Fallout New Vegas, STALKER, Wasteland...).

Probably the best thing about ATOM is that it's good at hiding its depth. My second playthrough was full of things I hadn't done the first time, although the end turned out rather similar. One never knows if a simple conversation will lead to an entire series of quests, or if it's just a dead end. The stats chosen at the beginning have an impact throughout the game. There are even bonuses for being unintelligent, and bonus conversations when your personality score is higher. Contrary to what some of the pro reviewers said, the writing can be quite good at times, although it's quite generic at others.

Of course, there are downsides too. The levelling model is the same for the PC and companions, which means you can give companions skills they'll never use such as the "technical" skill that allows for computer and machine use. Combat with the companions is also quite frustrating because you don't control them. I found myself trying to block doorways so they wouldn't run past me in into harm's way. (There is no cover system.)
The dialogues are also quite monotonous. As with too many games of this kind, you play the role of a person... with questions:
    a) what's your name?
    b) what do you do here?
    c) what should I know about this place?
    d) rumors?
    e) goodbye
Get used to these questions because 90% of conversations don't go beyond them, and you'll be reading the similar honest yet boring responses. However, there is a major plus side to talking in this game: all the NPCs have different faces, usually of real human beings. Even though they're just postage stamp sized stills rather than 3d models, they add a lot of character to what would otherwise be just another generic nobody. In fact, I'd say this is the best single aspect of the game.
(I recognized some of them as real people too. Your sailboat captain looks like John Malkovich. One of the security guards looks like Marian Pudzianowski, and I'm sure there are others I've forgotten.)

Over all it was worth the price and I hope they make a sequel.

The game captured the good elements of Fallout, and added even more to them (crafting) (something what Wasteland 2 failed to do so).

The biggest problem is that the game is very short and the car usage is too limited to be useful.

The next sequel surely going to be amazing.

Tons of weapons, skills, and interesting npcs and pcs to interact with. I can't praise this game enough. Easily in my top 5, which is a very short list.

Cons: the game can be difficult at the beginning. The learning curve is steep, and while the end game is (often) easy, beginning game is very difficult. I could see how someone might be turned off at the beginning, but KEEP PLAYING. I also like how the endings change with your actions in the game.

Slight spoiler, not really: Dead City is an absolute slog. It's such a grind and honestly, soured me a bit on an otherwise perfect game. I also don't like how, at least towards the end, enemies are compacted in groups and somehow, completely immune to shooting each other, but my companions hit each other every shot if they're anywhere near in a line of sight.

Excellent game. A great addition to anyone's post-apocalyptic collection. If you like the fallout series, underrail, wasteland, etc, GET this game. Support a wonderful game from a small developer, who, by the way, is active and helpful in the community for this game.

Real old school RPG. Good and smart RPG writing . Deep character progression and building. World is a tribute to Fallout and not at all inferior . Fighting is old school turn based when building efforts can show themselves . What game wanted game achieved so 10 from me . Really interesting game and just to add from production value for Indie game it is amazing .

I enjoyed this turn-based RPG quite a lot. It got a little monotonic over time, and I found the gruesomeness of some of the story elements a bit over the top. I also didn't care too much for some of the game's humour. But it does convey its desperate, post-apocalyptic atmosphere very well. I'm a big fan of the very rewarding slow progress.

In a time of almost total death for turn-based RPGs, games like this are quite valuable these days.
Also, for the Eastern European market, with predominantly F2P projects, such games are even more rare.
Connoisseurs of this genre of video games, I advise you to play.

The game is unfinished and has a lot of bugs. And the story was boring and not really interesting.

For an indie-RPG, this game runs well and has a good story attached. There are several characters to choose from and many attributes to learn and adjust as you go. If you were disappointed by Fallout:76, give this one a try as it feels a lot like one would expect a Fallout game to feel, without the disappointment!

Atom RPG is a valiant effort for a small indie team.

In its desire to stick to the original Fallout RPGs, ATOM RPG disregards the lessons CRPGs have learned in the intervening years. Fallen short of both its predecessors and contemporaries in the genre, ATOM RPG .
