    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This DLC was partially interesting. I like the rebels quests but they didn't amount to anything. The story was fair but kind of illogical in the end. I mean, the King just wave a flag of truce, and the guy set on revenge just accepted...money. It seems that was what happened in reality but it is kind of boring for a game. The rebels didn't always engaged in battle. The raid in this DLC weren't useful, why even put them here ??? You get at least some items, that could get upgraded, but if you completed the main game, they were a waste of time. I give it 60%. None of the characters were emotionally important except Bernard and Richardis, and somehow the game missed the mark with both of them. All the rest was working well but the story was really stretched in all directions. At least there is some historical value to the DLC… Expand

As a result, the story is much shorter (being around 5-8 hours depending on your pace) and the map much smaller than the game's previous expansion. The DLC tries to do away with much of the padding and filler the base game and Wrath of the Druids was criticized for but, in doing so, reveals a major flaw in the foundation of the game itself, being that, without this padding and filler, it has nothing much to offer.

    Where the game shines is the interactions with other characters. Instead of Eivor just standing and speaking to someone while you are free to turn the camera, these conversations are often accompanied by actual camera angles that allow for a more cinematic experience. The story itself is nothing special and does not do anything to forward Eivor's or the Assassins creed story in any way. It is essentially a single area's arc from the base game but of a slightly greater quality.

    The map itself, like Wrath of the Druids, offers nothing new either being just another England clone with the same kind of architecture spread out a rather flat grassland field. The centre piece of the map is Paris which itself feels very insignificant outside the actual siege.

    Another seemingly welcome addition is the "reintroduction" of black box missions for assassinations. These missions fail to capture the original experience due to the game's core mechanics being incompatible. Instead of the missions being focused in an enclosed area like that in Unity, it instead takes place across an entire village or part of a city with letters randomly placed around the city. Once you find one, reading it reveals a marker and an objective to follow. It ends up feeling more like a side quest due to its scope than a focused black box mission. I also feel it is very deceitful of Ubisoft to sell an "Assassins Creed" feature in an Assassins Creed game in the form of a DLC. Sadly this is the only Assassin aspect in the game.

    The DLC struggles to give enough incentive to warrant its purchase. There are two armour sets to be unlocked with one just being a reskin of an existing armour set. the other set is also so similar to the other sets in the game that missing out on it would not make one feel robbed of it.

    Another major frustration is in the leveling of the area. The quest list and map indicate the entire area's suggested power level to be 200 but very soon you realize that even at level 390, all enemies are indicated as being over leveled and do large amounts of damage. As it would happen, the areas suggest level 200 but enemies are all level 450 so to have any hopes of not feeling like you are playing Darksouls, you are forced to grind out your power level to this level. I played it at level 400 and that too felt like a chore.

    All in all, the DLC fails to justify its price for the amount of content it offers and for the little continuation to Eivor's story. Nothing new is gained from this DLC if you have already spent 100 hours slaving away to finish the base game. The fact that Eivor is nowhere closer to being an assassin as he was at the start of the base game gives no incentive to even invest any further in his story and any future DLC where this transition may happen will only further prove Ubisoft's predatory practice of selling a game without its core values and features only to hide it behind a paywall.    … Expand

    * Not having an Assassin Bureau overtop of the one Arno is in during Unity was a missed opportunity - should have been at least some seeds planted, there. * More nonsensical woke alphabet agenda in the dialogue and characters. Typical for Ubisoft games nowadays - a key reason I haven't bought a Ubisoft game in 5+ years. * The "Vive La Resistance" missions were very repetitive -    Cons:

    Pros:

    * Excellent implementation of the "Assassination Events" during primary quests to give the player the potential for unique assassinations - these were great in Unity & Syndicate and are much more "Assassin's Creed esque" than most of the last 3 games combined.
    * Good assassination mission designs - they tried to make these unique as they should be with proper stealth elements.
    * Solid story - they did a nice job with Charles; he was a very unique character.

    The woke stuff in the game drags the score down significantly. Hopefully at some point Ubisoft jettisons this disgusting stuff.

    If it is a little shorter than its predecessor, this second Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC is nevertheless more interesting. This is due in particular to the gripping atmosphere of this afflicted Francia, governed by a king who has lost his mind. With its striking atmosphere and striking characters, this historical extension offers us a more complex experience than it seems. Add to that a little welcome return to basics and the qualities of the initial title, and you get a new gripping adventure for Eivor, although hampered by the absence of a seat worthy of the name and real novelties.

    News about Assassin’s Creed’s return to the roots turned out to be bogus, as the infiltration phase ended up being a bunch of the known tricks with a thin layer of makeup. Unique assassinations are a welcome addition, but the game’s formula didn’t really change. Valhalla’s fans should be content though, because the tried and true gameplay loop is still satisfying and the story is decent. [11/2021, p.59]

    The Siege of Paris means more of the same for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, with the addition of more stealth passages akin to those in older instalments. The content itself is repetitive, however, and overall just not very interesting.
