The Siege of Paris is a very enjoyable step up from Wrath of the Druids and leaves you wanting more, in a good way. If this is indeed the final big expansion for Valhalla, it’s a high note to end on. While I’m not a fan of the infinite content machines the developers seem intent on shoving into every game, the story content is excellent, Paris and the surrounding countryside are gorgeous, and the new gameplay additions mix things up enough to feel worthy of a paid DLC.

With The Siege of Paris, Ubisoft delivers another excellent expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The main storyline is diverse and much more than just a siege, Paris and the surrounding areas are beautifully crafted and rats are an interesting new mechanic - although not always executed that well.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris is less of an expansion and more of a continuation, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. While Eivor's character development seemed to take a step backward, fans of the base game will still enjoy another 10 or so hours of gameplay thanks to Francia's new storyline, characters, weapons, and abilities.

The return of classic Assassin's Creed infiltration missions makes this DLC a worthwhile trip for long-time fans and recent devotees alike, although not all of its new ideas work quite so well.

The Siege of Paris rests solidly on the playful and technical foundations of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and in some respects does not reach the scenic heights of Eivor's Irish journey.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Siege of Paris tries to change the approach from the huge and dispersed structures used so far, but the overall result is a mixed bag.

The Siege of Paris simply delivers another Northman adventure that doesn't stand out in any way.
  2. Repetition stings more here than it did in the main campaign as traditionally Assassin’s Creed DLC has been a place for designers to test out weirder ideas. Think of Syndicate’s hunt for Jack the Ripper, or getting a suite of magic powers to fight a godlike George Washington in AC3, or taking a visually spectacular tour of the afterlife in Odyssey. If anything, The Siege of Paris’ run of strong missions and knottier story feels like what Valhalla probably should have been in the first place; a tantalizing glimpse of a better game penned into an eight hour DLC. It only dips its toe into the giant, plastic skull full of red wine; time for a bolder developer to take the plunge.

Very solid DLC, quality stuff as expected from Ubisoft! I wish they would give Arno's outfit, then it would be perfect.

Paris looks nice, reminds me my favorite AC Unity, it's not perfect, but it's not bad either.
