It's definitely an underrated game. With its story and main character, it gives us a different perspective than any other game in the series. It would be a big deficiency if they didn't make a game like this in the series because they always told the story from one side until this game. Now we can see both sides of the story and decide who is right.

I had a lot of fun with the music of this episode, but it was short and the game mechanics were not much different from the previous episode

با موزیک این قسمت خیلی لذت بردم ولی کوتاه بود و مکانیک بازی تفاوت زیادی با قسمت قبل نداشت

Let me start by saying that despite my disappointment with Assassin's Creed: Rogue, I believe every Assassin's Creed fan should give it a try, especially if you enjoyed Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

The idea of playing as a Templar initially thrilled me, but I ended up feeling somewhat let down. It's hard to ignore the fact that Rogue feels like a copy-pasted version of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. While I appreciated the addition of a signature weapon for Shay Cormac, ice-breaking with the ship, and the detection of enemies gameplay element from the older multiplayer, these features alone don't significantly differentiate the gameplay from its predecessor.

The graphics, animations, and combat remain virtually identical, making it feel more like an expansion to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag than a stand-alone game. Despite this, I can't deny that the familiarity of Black Flag's gameplay still makes Rogue enjoyable.

However, there are immersion-breakers in the game, such as the same songs played by your crew while sailing your ship as in Black Flag. It's a bit jarring to hear Edward Kenway's pirate crew singing on Shay Cormac's ship. Additionally, playing as a Templar doesn't feel as authentic as I had hoped, as the gameplay mirrors that of an Assassin. I had anticipated unique abilities and mechanics that only a Templar could employ, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Shay Cormac, the main character, is the least interesting protagonist thus far. His actions and decisions often come across as childish, and his repetitive line, "he makes his own luck," becomes grating. As the story progresses, he makes decisions that hurt people who were once dear to him, making it difficult to connect with or like him as a character.

The portrayal of the Brotherhood and its members is also questionable at times, with some actions feeling forced for the sake of the plot. While it's refreshing to see some Assassin's Creed III characters, the story itself is disappointingly short compared to previous games.

Moreover, the game's map is extensive, but the content feels lacking. It seems the map was primarily designed to justify an excessive number of collectibles, making it overwhelming for players to complete.

As for the present-day story, it barely warrants mentioning. It is the shortest and least interesting one in the series so far.

In my opinion, if Rogue had been released as a DLC like Freedom Cry, retaining the story and gameplay without calling it a separate game and excluding naval combat, it would have made more sense. The inclusion of naval combat felt like an attempt to capitalize on the success of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag before moving on to Assassin's Creed Unity.

Lastly, the absence of Steam achievements is a big letdown for me, because I am planning to unlock all 46 of them, but unfortunately there will be no way for anybody to ever see it. The only place where you can see your achievements is Ubisoft Connect, but only you can see them, since at the moment there is no way to share your progression with others.

In conclusion, while Assassin's Creed: Rogue offers a familiar and enjoyable gameplay experience inherited from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, it still feels rushed and somewhat lacking in originality. The story and the chance to understand the Brotherhood during this period make it worth playing, but it could have been presented as a DLC for Black Flag rather than a standalone game. Overall, Rogue provides an adequate adventure, but it falls short of the series' finest moments.

AC Rogue does mostly everything that AC Black Flag does, but slightly worse. The world and ship combat did not feel as good. I do however prefer the story in this game.

Expand

Assassin's Creed Rogue is simply a disappointment after coming from newer titles. It's age is very apparent and simply not fun. The combat is a mixed bag with some enjoyment. The best part of the game for me was sailing away on a pirate ship while my crew sang a sea shanty. The movement was fun but often did not do what I wanted.

I think this is the sleeper AC game, a very good take on Assassins vs Templars.
Story wise is Good, not great.
Gameplay and setting is pretty pumch the same as AC 3.

If you like AC: Black Flag, you will probably enjoy AC: Rogue, too, as those two games are fairly similar. However, be prepared that the game feels outdated today (it is basically a PS3/X360 gen release).

The graphics motor is the same of the last version (Black Flag version), however, the emphasis of AC Rogue, of course, it's not on the sea, boats and marine lives. I rather AC Black Flag than this version, but it does not mean I did not enjoy AC Rogue. It's just a preference.

AC Rogue is basically a worse, reskined and down-sized version of Black Flag. And the "reskined" portion is probably the best thing about Rouge - the new (kinda) setting really breathes new life into this game compared to it's older brother. It's just fun to cut through ice, land on snow-covered little islands, climb that templar-armor-ship in the middle of nowhere. The shallow combat, the glitchy parkour, the boring missions - it's all the more noticable, though it's much the same. Rogue barely passes as a full game. More like a longer DLC of Black Flag.

I have a huge problem with the story progression in Rogue. Ever since the Desmond was gone, you're put into the shoes of the protagonist. I personally don't prefer this at all. I like controlling the "subjects" in Assassins Creed. Desmond Miles was a very interesting character. I'd much prefer if the devs had created a new protagonist. The problem with putting the players in the shoes of the "subject", is that the protagonist becomes mute. There are countless instances in Abstergo Entertainment where I am spoken to, and I want to reply, but I obviously can't. With an actual character, even though I can't speak for them, at least there's conversation, and it's not this awkward one sided conversation. It's really unfortunate, because the story in Abstergo Entertainment is getting interesting. The Templars trying to convert you to their order and everything. It's all intriguing. But it's like I have no say in it. It's like the game just puts you on this roller coaster ride, where you can only watch. The devs REALLY, REALLY need to create a subject 18. Ditch the first person protagonist crap! It just doesn't suit the narrative of Assassin's Creed!

I actually like the story behind Rogue. And Shay Cormac starts off as a easily hate-able character, into a very likeable character through the tough decisions he had to make. This is the first game where you get to control the Assassin that betrays the Brotherhood. And the reason was completely understandable. Suddenly, I don't know who I'm rooting for, Assassins or Templars. Though the game never explains why Shay was put on that mission to wipe out an entire city. I guess the Assassin leaders did not know that taking the artifact would cause that, but they were also not remorseful after the fact. It made me question the Assassins, which was a plot twist I liked.

And one more thing that absolutely irks me. Why would they re-introduce Adwale, then kill him off in the most undignified way possible? This is the man who freed hundreds of slaves. A man who has the most moral values among any other character. He's honorable as ****. Why would they do this. They literally revealed him to be an older assassin, then barely shows up for more than a few scenes, then just gets killed. It's very, VERY anti climatic. Even if he had to die, at least make it more epic...

Besides the story, the gameplay and pretty much everything besides some snowy mountains, is the SAME. The experience just felt WAY too repetitive, especially for the fact that I JUST finished Black Flag. They should've just made this a DLC, maybe upped the price more. This is NOT a new Assassins Creed experience.
