  1. Assassin's Creed Rogue puts the player in a deep story that lasts as long as 22 hours. Weapons, combat system and new mysteries are all impressive. However, the lack of a multiplayer mode is a downright disappointment.

Assassin's Creed: Rogue is a great ending to the American saga of the franchise, and a great game in its own right. Ubisoft has also done a fine job with the PC port, making it an easy recommendation to any fan.

Assassin's Creed Rogue is a great and enjoyable game. The best moments are their naval battles, the open world and the large variety of missions. Enemy AI is the worst feature of game.

Yes, Rogue hardly differs from Black Flag, but it's just right.

I wish there was more to say about Rogue, but there really isn’t. For better or worse, Ubisoft has turned Assassin’s Creed into a fairly predictable series. Rogue is very much a standalone AC 4 expansion.

Rogue offers varied missions and content, but you'll feel like you've played all of this before. If you're at all interested in the Assassin’s Creed brand, it's absolutely a nice addition to your collection.

Even though it's a "minor" Assassin's, it takes the best of the fourth episode and creates a very interesting experience. The visuals could have seen a bigger improvement, but still it's a good adaptation.

Assassin's Creed Rogue on PC is the same game released last November on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with the inevitable graphics upgrade. In addition Ubisoft Kiev gives us a stable, smooth and well-optimized version of the game.

Ubisoft Kiev brings Rogue Assassin's Creed to PC convincing in every aspect and the game is certainly better and visually richer compared to what we saw last November on consoles.

One nice port that runs smoothly on PC but doesn't add anything to the original mix. The game still is Assassin's Creed Darkflag.

No more than a decorous porting of the original PS3/360 game: technically good, but one step behind the luxuriant Black Flag.

Although Assassin's Creed Rogue has many similarities to both Assassin's Creed III and Blag Flag, it does combine the main gameplay features of sailing, exploration and combat rather well.

The imperative to cash in on Black Flag is transparent, but as it turns out a location swap works wonders for igniting the hooded pirate in you again.

If you are eager to play Black Flag 1.5, then Assassin's Creed: Rogue will completely satisfy your needs. Otherwise, just wait for the next installment of the series.

Play Rogue if you want more Black Flag. Play Rogue if you want to learn about the complex relationship between the Assassins and Templars. Play Rogue if you hated Unity and want a better Assassin's Creed experience this year.

It's a fitting coda to the "Colonial America" story arc that should satisfy hardcore fans. [May 2015, p.68]

2014 was not a very good year for Assassin’s Creed but if I had to choose the better game out of two released, I would point at Rogue. [05/2015, p.75]

In plundering Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag practically wholesale, Rogue proves to be a double-edged sword. As much as Rogue succeeds in servicing those who were disappointed that Unity eschewed Black Flag’s naval shenanigans, the game also serves as a timely reminder just how little the franchise has evolved in recent years, in spite of its relatively novel take on the series’ narrative.

Rogue is following the footsteps of pirate Black Flag, whose fans will enjoy almost the same gameplay. PC conversion is perfectly optimized indeed, but visually it loses enough already, plus control may not suit everyone.

In the end, Assassin’s Creed Rogue feels like a multi-colored blanket stitched together by years of older materials.

Assassin's Creed: Rogue is conformist, well done but it has no ambition. Shay is a Templar, a rude new protagonist who reveals new secrets of the whole saga. Too many sea battles and very uninteresting murder or traditional missions.

Assassin's Creed: Rogue tries to tell an interesting story in the form of a stand alone expansion to Black Flag. The result is overall good despite the same old issues with balancing, but graphics wise the port is disappointing.

Visually beautiful, but in terms of mechanics as old-fashioned and unchallenging as on consoles. At least it manages to deliver a decent story with interesting characters.

I'm guessing a patch will eliminate crashes I have experienced - then I'll be able to call the PC version of Assassin's Creed: Rogue a well made and optimized port. Everything really looks better and runs much smoother. Ubisoft seems to sail in the right direction but to see if some conclusions were made from Unity's flawed debut we'll have to wait till the premiere of AC: Victory.

Assassin's Creed: Rogue is Black Flag with worse writing and (broadly) improved missions. Does very little to alter the formula, but is about as mechanically sound as Assassin's Creed gets and runs well on PC.

It's a formula that in myWell, I'll start by saying that this game could have been called Assassin's Creed: Black Flag 2, but who cares? It's a formula that in my honest opinion works much better than the one used in Unity, where they removed some of the best features of the previous game. The naval combat and exploration is awesome, there are some epic battles waiting for you, whether you try to conquer a fort or instead choose to engage on a legendary battle with a ship, much like in ACIV:BF. I love the sense of freedom, and all the activities that are at my disposal and that can be re-done almost whenever I like, such as "harpooning", engage on battle with enemy ships to gather resources or reinforce my fleet to the naval campaign, or if I'm just tired of going around on the sea, I can also go hunt or try to plunder a couple of warehouses! All of this has been removed from Unity, and it was nice to have them back on this game. So yeah, all in all it's being an extremely positive experience, the game doesn't look as big as ACU for completion's sake, but it feels very fresh all the time. I'm still on a very initial stage of the game, but I'm positive this feeling of freshness will remain until the end. To be honest, I think this is the second best game of the series, in parallel with ACIV, only surpassed by ACII, which introduced incredible innovations at the time.

Now, more technically speaking, of course the textures aren't as crisp as in Unity, which was predictable, given the system requirements and the fact that this is basically a port of a game released for the previous generation consoles. Still, they do the job, and not being as detailed and crisp as Unity, it's certainly more beautiful, with its jungles, caves, settlements and last but not least, almost endless sea :)

The gameplay is also on par with what we've been used to on the series, the parkour is not perfect, so the land exploration and hunting can be annoying a couple of times, when you jump down the tree instead of climbing up, or when you miss by inches a rocky ledge and fall to your death. The gameplay really shines on the naval battles, sometimes I feel that this is the main purpose of the game, since it's so very well thought and designed.

I don't know what else I should say about this game, so maybe I'll just mention a couple of cons just as to my review doesn't sound too biased. As I said before, the parkour isn't perfect, resulting in a couple of accidents when you try to do some basic looking manoeuvres when you're on foot, and the enemies' AI is also poor, I think it's never been easier to hide from enemies after you've been detected. Sometimes I'm hidden in a bush, an enemy comes to me, I kill him and hide him instantly in the bush, and there was an enemy a couple of meters away looking on my direction and he doesn't even notice his mate has been assassinated.

All in all, I think it's a great game, I'd easily recommend it to anyone who's new to the series or to anyone who's already a veteran. Of course that if you played ACIV:BF and didn't like it, you'll probably won't enjoy this one either. However, if you liked ACIV:BF, you'll definitely love Rogue, so go ahead and get it. The series are probably taking a turn to a totally different direction, I'm not very optimistic about it after playing Unity, so let's enjoy this "old" take on the series while we can.

Cheers, I hope this review has been helpful to you.

    Skip Unity, buy Rouge.

All in all it's similar to AC Black flag. In my opinion, the story is great. I always wanted to play as a templar.

Not to forget that the game is incredibly optimized and that you can play it with almost any graphics card from 2012. The game is a bit on the short side but it's worth it.

Dear God, what a miracle. Ubisoft actually did something good for once.
