Assassin's Creed IV stands out in game play and environment, because it is based on pirate culture. The Assassin order doesn't really have too much influence on the story, so AC IV is not exactly a sequel to the previous games. It also offers you some nice graphics, but the performance sometimes is really bad. You will need to have a really good computer to get to the max out of the graphics.
AC IV has its bad moments, but it is still an excellent game that you should consider buying.

Oh my gosh... assassin´s creed is getting more boring again. First ones were pretty good and AC 3 was the best, but these "pirate thingies" are not so good. Oh yeah... the game also gets easier and more boring, but still... they did a good job.

It's hard to rate this game, although it's the best game of the franchise in my opinion. The storyline itself is different compared with the other Assassin's Creed games and this makes this game so special (the story which is placed in the background (in the "reality") follows on the events of the third part, but it's as bad as before and occupies only a small part in the whole game) The gameplay is solid and sometimes it seems to be too easy. And now for the problems: The graphics are great but I just don't get it why Ubisoft isn't able to develop a game, since Assassin's Creed 3, which runs smooth on good hardware GTX 680, Intel Xeon E3 1230v3 (30 FPS and worse on max settings)). I'm able to run Battlefield 4 and Crysis 3 on max settings without any issues, but this is a joke. Another joke is the recycling of older games. Almost the whole movement of Edward Kenway is copied from Connor in Assassin's Creed 3. I can believe that they don't have much ideas left, but this is ridiculous. Next thing: Optional objectives. I really like the idea of optional objectives, but sometimes I don't know if the developers even tested them (and don't tell me I'm just a bad gamer).
At large it's a really good game, but it definitely doesn't deserve 10/10, because it's nothing new, they just changed the setting.

I really like this game when doing the assassin part of the game, but when you do the sea battles it gets rather old after you defeat around 50 ships. I have not done any of the legendary ships yet though but the other max level Man O War ships are a push over unless you have more than one attacking you at the same time. I'm of course talking only about at max upgrades other than the ones you have to get from the treasure hunting. I also do not like how sometimes the character refuses to climb objects and you have to try to or 3 times just to get him to cooperate. Other than these few flaws the game is pretty good for the most part. The story is pretty good and the fleet missions are a great source of income. Other than the flaws i mentioned it's a fun game if your looking for a game to spend countless hours playing. Expand

This is a good game. You can get a lot of hours of play time. This is not a game you can play a second time. It will just be repetitive. I also did not like that it is a memory and you go back and forth from the "real" world and the memory. But it was worth the 30 dollars I spent

The game is about the golden age of piracy. Edward wants to be famus and rich and because of that he initially works for the Templars and the Assassins.

Ths game has amazing graphics but the the melee fighting is terrible and aftter you destroy all the forts and lengendary ships and normal ships the ocean looks empty because the ships don´t respawn.

This is a mightily impressive and sometimes incredible game. An AAA title that actually benefits from being one. I won't go into the positives, of which there are many, but I'll just say the movement can feel a little clunky and the missions are a little glitchy and can be repetitive. Apart from that, it may just be another game in a cash cow series, but there's no denying it's worth playing.

The best gameplay is the series, and it captures the atmosphere of its setting brilliantly, but ultimately feels a little bit strange like ACIII before it. Perhaps the locales were too "new" to support one of the big draws of the Ezio series: uncovering mysterious tombs and retrieving artefacts.

The story is okay if not really good, but I'd prefer a story that's a bit humdrum but doesn't make me wince with its many po-faced howlers (looking at you, AC:Revelations and ACIII). AC:Brotherhood took some knocks for its silly villains, but I'll take that camp theatrical scene-chewing over a story that thinks too much of itself any day. AC:R's writer does a much better job this time, supplying a story that carries you along well enough, with many nice little touches in the dialogue and some touches of daft WTF-ery. There's not enough there to make you really invested, and you'll see certain twists a mile away, but as games go it's decent.

Finally got around to playing Black Flag when Ubisoft recently offered it for freed download for 1 week. I had just finished Assassin's Creed: Origins and absolutely loved that game and 100%ed it, which is the first time I did that for an open world game. Going backwards from Origins to Black Flag left me wanting in a couple ways.
For one the controls are not as good as Origins and I often became very frustrated when "free running" because I would often grab onto things that I didn't want to climb. Why the Run button is the same as the climb button I'll never know. In Origins you pretty much run all the time which should be the case. There should have been a "grounded" button that prevented you from climbing while you run.
As far as open world missions so, many were rinse and repeat with no story just a different target with a different random face, like the Assassin contacts. Also, for an open world game many missions had a very strict and narrow zone to operate in that almost felt very linear. You didn't have several options in how to complete a mission. It was Ubi's way or the highway.
Aside from those complaints the game looks really beautiful on max settings on my new gaming rig. I love all of the lush tropical environments. The pirate theme and ship combat is one of the highlights of the game, though you need to do some major upgrades to make ship combat far less difficult. I'm sure I'll try and 100% this game as well because there are enough unique places to explore and different task to do.
One thing I did like more than Origins was that some climbing areas were like puzzles as you had to figure out ways to certain Eagle perch views where as in Origins nearly everything is climbable and almost too easy.
The ship fleet mini-game is barely a game but a good way to make some easy money though the combat is slow and tedious. It's a clever way to put the many ships you capture to good use. I wish the combat was a bird's eye view of your fleet attacking an enemy and you had little input but a few orders.
One last thing is that I know I have a home base mansion somewhere in the game where rare and unique collectables accumulate but I can't remember what city it is in and can't find it on the map and wish that was better marked.
All-in-all a great game for it's time that seems a little repetitive compared against recent iterations.

Also, this Black Flag is not a normal assassin's creed. The conspiracy part is only explored through secrets (mostly), the story is very different from the other ones but that was expected (just think of the end of AC3).

There is not much to say. I think that if someone likes the AC series, would like every AC. I personally found a big improvement from AC1 to AC2, and the standard has always stayed the same. Black Flag is a different approach that will for sure develop in a next chapter. The setting (pirates, sailing, caribbean) is very appealing to me and something different that made me forgive the lack of main story, little related to what has happened until now with Desmond. But as I said, there are some secrets to be found that will explain many things here and there about the whole conspiracy and desmond's past.

On the technical side, it is wonderful. The best ocean ever, together with the Cryengine 3. HBAO+ still looks very very good and animations are wonderful. Combats are still a - , it is basically impossible to die while fighting 20+ enemies...too easy, but exploration and views will compensate that.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Assassin's Creed IV Black-flag is very ambitious game that has a definite requirement for a good computer but if you play with a good PC the game play is very similar to Assassin's Creed 3 for it's ground combat it has the same annoying boss that are extremely difficult to fight no mater your strategy I find it way easier to shoot the person in the face and end the fight anti climatically. the naval combat is a huge upgrade from the hell of AC3 It is vary well polished but it still surprises me that Rogue was able to make it better. it's fluent and fast pace and really makes you want to be a pirate and take on a huge Man"o War for all it's metal. The story was huge disappointment Edward never seamed to show compassion for what was supposes to be heart throbbing moments only once did I really feel that there was one moment where I wanted revenge. then the fact that you don't become An official Assassin till the last three sequences, It's not called Pirates Creed it's called Assassin's Creed I expect to be an Assassin most of the game or a least more of a purpose then a pirate sailing around and stealing loot. I would have no problem if leading up to when you became an Assassin but change/ add more after that I don't care if I have let's say 22 sequences I loved playing the game and wanted more when it was over so give me more please. I think the game is a great sequel that has amazing graphics but needed more story to developed you as an Assassin, over all a very good game and very enjoyable Expand

Bu iş can sıkıcı olabiliyor.

Birazda multiplayerden bahsedelim. Assassins Creed hiçbirzaman multiplayer odaklı bir oyun olmadı. Bu yüzden multiplayerden fazla beklentiniz olmasın. Genede serverleri dolu oyuncu rahat bulabiliyorsunuz.

Gelelim sonuca. Oyun kesinlikle oynanmayı hakediyor indirimlerde 40tl altına düşünce kesinlikle almalısınız. Kuruşuna kadar hakediyor. Genel puanım ise 8/10.

Gameplay: Same as always. Same gameplay as Assassin's Creed III, but with a slight worsening, yes, it gets worse. On the other hand, Ubisoft was a little more careful about bugs in the game, something hard to find in that game, but still, but nothing that would hinder a game immersion.

Summary: It is a game that you are in under $ 10.00 and worth every penny. It has good graphics, story and gameplay, later of a time, began to repeat the story and extremely short.

    + Great sidequests
+ Excellent ending, probably the best in the whole serie
    + Ship battles
+ Kenway's fleet is interesting and entertaining feature
+ Shanties (great pirate atmosphere at all)

    Cons:
    - Some technical issues (not that drastical as it is described in some reviews here, I needed restart the memory just once, the game didn't drop at all, just few bugs and glitches, better optimalization could be great tho)
    - From the half of the game you don't know what to do with money (it's really easy to get enough of them)
    - Beggining of the story is quite boring and storytelling could be done better at all
    - Presence of typical AC missions like follow the target, listen the target a then kill him, no originality in main missions
    - not challenging puzzles (all of them are really easy)

Time spent to finish the game: Sth about 40 hours to obtain all collectibles and finish main story.

Black Flag - 8/10. Origins - 4/10

    GAMEPLAY
A mio avviso rimane comunque divertente.

This is an exceptional AC game, in my opinion the best. The main character, Edward Kenway, is a very likeable, tough pirate. He is not as boring as many other AC protagonists. He is a real tough guy who knows what he wants, but he is also a good friend.

The story is really well done this time. Exciting from start to finish. German voices are fantastic. The whole game is a big, big

The whole game is a big, big carribean adventure! I never liked ship battles, but in this game I loved them. They are epic! They take about 40% of your time. The music und the graphics are just awesome.

Not so good: there is some Ubisoft checklist design. Treasures, fragments. But the world is beautiful, so it is a nice feeling to roam through the Islands.

TLDR: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a great game marred by unnecessary Ubisoft BS. I'm giving the game itself 10/10, but I'm deducting points for the Animus walking simulator, and the convoluted save game system.

TLDR: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is a great game marred by unnecessary Ubisoft BS. I'm giving the game itself 10/10, but I'm deducting points for the Animus walking simulator, and the convoluted save game system.

Story: I like the story. It's Pirates of the Caribbean quality, and I have complaints here. Nice job Ubisoft.

Setting: I love the pirate setting. I really got the feel I was sailing the high seas, flying the Jolly Roger. Everything looks great visually. They did a great job designing this.

Game mechanics: This is my first Assassin's Creed game, and it took me quite a while to get used to the controls, mechanics, and general flow of the game. Vets of other AC games will probably pick it up faster. I loved the mechanics once I got used to them, but the learning process was frustrating at times.

    Complaints:

Complaint #1: Animus. I hate (is there a stronger word than hate?) the unskippable Animus walking simulator. Some of these scenes are 15 minutes long or more and have nothing to do with the main story. Who in their right mind thinks people want this in the middle of an Assassin's Creed game? Animus is seriously irritating, and almost ruined an otherwise great game. I sincerely hope whoever thought of Anusmus was immediately sacked with extreme prejudice, and permanently banned from the video game industry. Read this, Ubisoft. All we want or need is quicksave, autosave, and save game. Animus and the progress meter sucks.

Complaint #2: Convoluted "Progress" save game system. This is such a bloated unnecessary mess, and all it does is force people to unnecessarily replay content. If Ubisoft would just use a traditional quick save / autosave / save as system, it would eliminate so much of my frustration in this area.

Combat is more or less the same as Assassin's Creed 3, except this time there's A LOT of sailing and battles out in the ocean. If you like shooting cannons and mortors while steering a ship, then you'll love it. At first, I found the sea battles to be tedious, but realized my ship was under leveled. Once I upgraded the necessary parts, the battles went much more smoothly. I personally don't enjoy steering a large ship, as I find it clunky in general, but with a story about Pirates, it can't be helped.

The parkouring the series is known for is good, but there were some parts where I would jump to my death even though my camera was pointed towards a climbable ledge. These were far and few inbetween, so it wasn't too bad. Smoke bombs and darts can allow you to go about an area in many different ways. Though I did feel it was too easy to level pouch upgrades to the max, which in turn allowed you to cruise through pretty much any situation. You need animal skin to craft things, but all of it can be suprisingly bought in shops at an average price. This took away the need to hunt, which is a negative.

    - Narrative -
The story and characters are probably my favorite part about Black Flag. Assassin's Creed stories have never disappointed me, and this one upped the bar. Edward was a very interesting character. He starts off as this greedy and selfish pirate, but slowly matures into a much more noble character through failures and loss. I love seeing characters grow through hardships. The comrades Edward meets were also very likable. They had their own interesting back story and personalities.

Of course, there's the main story of Assassin's Creed, Abstergo. I thought Abstergo Entertainment was a cool way to continue the story of the modern day Assassins and Templars. The building is full of bonus content that unravels more mysteries about the story. It was mysterious and interesting.

    - Visuals & Sounds -
The game overall looks good, though some climbing animations could be better. I'm taking experience from Uncharted, so I'm a bit spoiled. You'll hear your crew singing as you're sailing the ship, there's mysterious music playing while you're uncovering secrets in Abstergo Entertainment, so the music is overall good.

    - Replay value -
There's paid DLC. Aside from that, you can only go back to complete side missions, and collectables.

    Thanks for reading.

I mostly enjoyed taking the forts and it is a shame that there were less than 10 of them. The underwater looting was marred by very bizarre sharkness. I have played this title several times and have never managed to get through an underwater section without being attacked by a frikkin' shark (with or without lasers). What was disappointing was that the game was heavily boat-centric and levelling up your Jackdaw was far more important than levelling up your Edward gear.

Pirating other ships was also annoying in that your crew were as useful as a chocolate fire-guard. "I need help here!" F**k me, Jacob! Why bother? Well, taking gunboats, schooners and brigs was simplicity in that the swivel gun was capable of eliminating this entirely. Offing

I liked to collect optional stuff from each zone, yet it netted me nothing (I don't really like that i only get 1% when i complete a zone). Outside story mode this game has nothing to offer in terms of gamplay. Pirating is fun for a while, but since you blunder basically same resources (Women, new ships, slaves, art, gold yarrr???) all over...You are not feeling like a pirate.

Quick fire round to pro´s and con´s.

    Pro´s:
    - Setting is not limited to cities only like older releases
    - Pirate setting is done nicely, you are spending time on a vessel
    - Crafting got useful again and ship customization looks awesome
    - Sneaking, fighting got updated amongst other things.

    Cons:
    - The "Real life" story is left out for good part of the game
    - You don't really have a clue about the grand schemes, so you are not pursuing a goal.
    - Little to no graphical improvements (Well they don't even need to those, but added them anyway. Game looks awesome!)
    - Characters are uninteresting
    - Optional stuff is optional...And useless. Why collect 15 fragments that will not grant you anything expect 0,5 progress sync story.
    - I´m pretty sure i have seen some character models in AC 1 3 as major storyline...
    - You need to wait a long time until story kicks in. Don't get bored until then.

The best aspect of the game is traversing the picturesque waters in changing weather conditions on a boat full of pirates singing a song. Not much tension or drama, plenty of grind. Expand

The bad thing: Modern Abstergo plot
I'm a fan of Assassin's Creed series and I think what they did with the plot is total BS. I'm talking about the modern-day plot not getting into spoilers here, it was absolutely terrible, both the idea and the execution of it. This was the most disappointing part.
Another bad thing: GLITCHES, ARMY OF THEM
Every part of the game is filled with minor glitches, patches fix a lot of them but it's super-common for camera to go crazy or the character having problems with scalling a 0,5 meters tall fence, or character falling to the ground in combat for no reason, or weapons clipping and animations desyncing...you get the idea I hope. It's just very rough on the edges.
    Last but not least: Controls
It's obvious they are meant for consoles and they suck on PC. It's very hard to control character when free running or in combat. No target lock. Weird aiming (at least we finally have it implemented).

Now to the good part: The World
The world is HUUUGE. There are some reused assets but it's still a pleasure to explore new places and gather those little collectibles that I never cared about before.

    Also good: The visuals
This game is beautiful and there is no denying of it, and it's pretty well optimized aside from some FPS issues, but I was able to almost max it out on GTX 570. Surprisingly good job Ubisoft.

I'm not really going into details because you can google them...I don't care.
Mixed feelings, best get it on sale.

STORY/DESIGN: (5/10) - On the one hand, the story is boring, and there's no real climax/payoff at the end, it's just a-bunch-of-stuff-that-happens that seems to rely on player time investment to make us connect emotionally rather than an interesting plot. On the other hand, the main character is somewhat unique in that his major motivation is making money and he aggressively wants to avoid joining either of the warring factions. But the most important part of the story is that, unlike AC3, it is mostly unobtrusive.
GRAPHICS: (9/10) - this is a gorgeous looking game in almost every respect. There's a good variety of environments, from period cities of varying elevations (to facilitate the freerunning) to deep jungle to tropical islands.
GAMEPLAY: (7/10) - this is kind of hit-and-miss, depending on what the game asks of you. Each of the 4 gameplay types represents about a quarter of the experience:
Ship-to-ship combat is good (7/10), kind of like space combat games if you couldn't move up or down, but what makes it interesting is a very developed, shifting 3D ocean that is constantly buffetting your ship and changing the angles. I also like how quickly you go from sailing to aiming a side cannon at individual enemie on a ship, then swing over on a rope and go straight into hand-to-hand combat. One nice touch is that you can sneak-swim onto an enemy ship that's otherwise overpowered for your ship, kill all the soldiers in hand-to-hand, then return to your ship and conquer the now weakened and crippled ship in one shot. What I dislike about ship-to-ship combat is that, other than size and flag color, basically all ships you fight are identical in look and structure. I feel like they could have designed more than one enemy for you. Additionally, it would have been nice to go below decks for combat, instead of just up the masts once in awhile.
Freerunning (3/10) hasn't really changed from AC3, but the environments are quite a bit better and smoother, particularly in jumping from tree-to-tree. It's very intuitive, but it's still hold-down-a-button and point the analog stick, whereas any true platformer would require individual presses of the jump button. There's also a swimming mechanic for underwater side missions, which is cool, but slow and eventually gets boring.
Combat (5/10) has a few new enemy types that often require a different button press (i.e. "stun") to defeat certain enemies, plus the ability to throw enemies (off ledges or into other enemies) instead of insta-kill adds another layer. And sometimes you have to press a button to grab a human shield just before you're shot. But it's still way too easy to be fun most of the time.
Stealth (5/10) is still functional but not improved. It's still based primarily on moving between bits of grass and insta-killing anything that gets near. Your only other options are a berserker dart (makes an enemy attack his friends), hire dancers to distract guards, and a smoke bomb escape; that's fairly paltry compared to any other stealth game.
    DESIGN: (9/10)
The game starts with you experiencing the major gameplay types (ship-to-ship combat, freerunning, stealth, then combat) all the in the first mission with only a few seconds of cutscenes intruding on that. There are FAR fewer enforced-slow-walk-for-plot-exposition parts than in AC3, though there are still some. Similarly, you spend very little time in the "future" world outside the animus, another great choice, although even this half-hour total was still the worst part of the game. I never even got to the sailing portion of AC3 because I couldn't tolerate the pathetic "platforming" and the fact that they buried the good stuff so late in the game, but AC4 understands that it is a game and puts its best feet forward. There are a bunch of side missions, and you never have to do any of them more than once if you dislike one. And if you just like open-ended missions where you get to a guarded target and assassinate him, there are like 30 of those as "assassin" side missions. So it's a long game (21 hours) but it held my interest long enough for me to beat it. If they could just make you actually press the "jump" button when they wanted you to jump and made the melee combat more challenging/interesting, this game could have been a 9/10 easily.

    4) The graphics are dated. To be expected for a 2013 game, but it's worth pointing out.

If you are PC gamer and after playing AC Odyssey, I wouldn't go back further than AC Origins. Even though this one is rated as one of the best. Ubisoft still sells the game but they don't bother at least updating with a widescreen patch, etc.
Wait till there is a remastered version of this game if it ever happens.

If you get seasick, try to avoid these parts of the game. Also, I was unable to play the FPS sections of the game because the FoV was locked to about 60 which also made me motion-sick. Caveat emptor- let the buyer beware.

As someone who has never actually played an Assassin's Creed game before and someone who has recently completed both Splinter Cell: Blacklist and FarCry 3 (both from Ubisoft) within the past 6 months, to me, Assassin's Creed IV really does nothing new, judging by the heavily borrowed concepts from the 2 aforementioned games. Despite the mostly unoriginal campaign, the graphics are pretty good and the PC port as a whole is decent, with the exception of the Abstergo entertainment FPS parts of the campaign.
Starting with the gameplay, Assassin's Creed IV does barely anything new and what it provides is essentially the same seen in some of Ubisoft's other IPs. Examples of what Black Flag 'borrows' can be seen through none other than the crafting, hunting, assassinating, body hiding, climbing and looting mechanics. Crafting, hunting and looting mechanics within Black Flag are pretty much identical to that seen in FarCry 3- you craft holsters to hold more weapons, pouches for ammo etc. THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS FARCRY 3. Hunting is also pretty much the same, down to the animations and cutscenes for skinning the corpses of the animals (this time around, they let you skip the cutscene, which is a positive). Onto the assassinating, climbing and body hiding mechanics, they are so similar to those seen in Splinter Cell: Blacklist, that it may as well be a reskin of the game, but with hidden blades or swords sometimes. I don't have a problem with iterating gameplay features, but when these mechanics are so similar to games that the same publisher have the rights to or even released within the same year, I feel cheated. Also, the freerunning system felt like cheating the game- kind of like how Sonic is jokingly called 'press W to win', AC4's freerunning could be compared to 'press shift-W to win'.
However, the seemingly more original gameplay from Black Flag comes in the form of its combat and naval aspects. The actual combat of the game is very well done, with a free-flowing combat system which makes fights seem very fluid and satisfying. It's somewhat similar to melee combat in Sleeping Dogs. The naval combat is enthralling and engaging. From the previews of the ship combat, I was worried that the naval elements were just going to be the worst parts of the game. Fortunately, they are surprisingly fun- much thanks to the execution of the concept which makes the ship handling feel adequate and exciting.
The actual PC port is quite well done- plenty of options for users, fully rebindable keys, reasonable controls that actually work very well and the performance is fine (on an ATi Radeon 5800), so long as you leave ambient occlusion on SSAO, shadows not on soft, motion blur off and the antialiasing off (AA made my game extremely laggy and blurry), the game will run fine. It may not have run as well for me as the game is Nvidia optimised, so keep that in mind if you have a Nvidia card. The actual game's graphics are very nice, but in my opinion, does not qualify as 'next-gen'. The graphics are on a similar level to Tomb Raider (2013), but I subjectively think that Tomb Raider has better graphics, again, maybe because that game was AMD optimised so I was able to play it on relatively higher settings. I personally expected next-gen to be on a similar level to Crysis 3, but that may be asking too much.
If you are looking for a decent PC port, you are in luck. However, if you are seeking a game which has original gameplay, you are looking in the wrong place. Assassin's Creed IV is a good-looking (but not quite next-gen in my opinion) game which has diverse gameplay features, but most of which are unashamedly 'borrowed' from Ubisoft's other IPs, making it seem as if they are merely sticking to a formula to make money.

The character movement is very good, definitely an improvement, you can connect most of the movement you want to make, rarely you will start to jump and grab places you didn't meant too.
The missions are mostly well made and fun, and while some might say they are too easy, I think they are just fine because I like to go through the story, I hate bottlenecks of repetitive tries due to chance or difficulty, for the sake of being hard. Sea combat is fun. Boarding ships is fun if you roleplay them, don't go immediately to the goals and you will be immersed into nice visuals and combat.

But this game has a lot of downsizes. Very easy naval combat, too easy, specially when attacking naval fortress's, the repercussions of pirating are basically none. Land combat is also extremely easy, its all about knowing what type of enemies you are facing and hit the according button, but, its fun, very fun, still way too easy. The map size is extremely small (caribbean islands packed into a 20km per 20km give or take) and the view ranges of enemy ships is ridiculous low, we are talking about having an enemy ship 50 meters away from you and they can't see you!! This game design choice obliterates the immersion of being at sea, the feeling of being alone, of spotting enemies on the horizon, storms are well made but they come and go in a minute, rogue waves and water tornados are just too easy to avoid. Due to the map being so filled with islands and ships, immersion is completely crushed.

All in all, its a fun game to play, but once you play it the replay value is null, this means that for a open world game something went wrong when they designed it, kinda remembers me of Sleeping Dogs, making an open world that serves no purpose since only the missions have any value.

However I will say that while the game gets a whole lot right, there are some minor issues Black Flag does suffer from. It's a fun game, I have to say. There's lots to do, the boat combat is simplistic and fun, and stabbing people is still just as good as it always has been. The problem is that half the time half my progress doesn't get saved. I play in short sessions so I only lose about half an hour, and it doesn't happen all the time, but it is certainly annoying, and makes me enjoy the game much less.

The gameplay is pretty off from Assassin's Creed. Stealth is not encouraged and the gameplay is not interesting enough for a game about pirates.

The story is pretty stupid, full of plot holes. What was Robert's motives and why didn't he simply kill you? Rogers survived your assassination... I mean, come on...

But there are lot of pieces of amazing writing. The IT guy's character is hilarious and well written. Some pirates are their jokes are amazing ("It's a ship not a boat", "We are pregnant!" etc.)

But those small pieces of amazing writing are shunned away with a clumsy main story.

The game is also waaay to big. The main story is too long, considering what it actually tells and side quests and missions are simply way to repetitive. There are some gems among them, but it doesn't pay off to suffer through the rest of the missions.

I enjoyed the modern story much more than Edward's story. Too bad it's very short and not finished at all.

Overall, a disappointing experience that tries to be both an Assassin's Creed game and a game about pirates and then falls flat between the two.

If you are a fan of a series, I suggest only doing to the main story and not playing many hours per day because you will get burnt out.
