    Playing this in 2023. Still one of the best adventure games in every aspect.
    Although it was a weird decision to try to implement stealth mechanics in a number of missions when there is no proper stealth mechanic at all. And that menu... ugh...!

    This game is a vast improvement over the bug-ridden AC1. They improved virtually EVERYTHING.

    The story is the best of all AC games (except maybe Black Flag). It is really good.

    Graphics still look beautiful in 2023.

    Running across the rooftops of the beautiful cities and then jumping 50 m into the water is just awesome.

    This and Black Flag are the best installments of the whole series!

The initial title allowed me to truly embody an assassin, representing the assassin brotherhood, while the sequel follows a frustrated yet awe-inspiring Italian protagonist on a quest for vengeance, trying to find his place in an era where assassins are not as prominent as they were during the crusade era in the first game.

    What I absolutely adored in Assassin's Creed II is the gameplay. While it boasts an abundance of optional chests that beckon completionists like myself, it is an enjoyable experience to traverse the beautifully crafted open-world environment. The parkour mechanics have been significantly refined, making climbing and maneuvering more fluid, faster, and complex than in the first game. I've never felt such an exhilarating sense of freedom and agility while exploring in any other game released before this one.

    While the story of Assassin's Creed II may not offer precisely what the first game did, it is captivating in its own right. Featuring a formidable and compelling antagonist, the narrative leaves a strong impact. Furthermore, the game not only advances Desmond's overarching story but also marks the inception of Ezio's journey, who has become one of the most beloved characters in the gaming history.

    Assassin's Creed 2 is a nice game with its story, concept and atmosphere, apart from that, all the maps in the game are perfect, but the controls of the game are very difficult and the battles are simple.

    O salto de evolução entre assassin's creed 1 e são é sobre um gigantesco abismo. Finalmente temos um bom sistema de escalada, apesar de ele ser pouco polido às vezes, e temls um combate interessante, apesar de também ter suas limitações. No geral, o stelth existe para evitar um combate pouco inventivo onde você pode optar por um counter hitkill com as hiden blades, esquivar e torcer paraO salto de evolução entre assassin's creed 1 e são é sobre um gigantesco abismo. Finalmente temos um bom sistema de escalada, apesar de ele ser pouco polido às vezes, e temls um combate interessante, apesar de também ter suas limitações. No geral, o stelth existe para evitar um combate pouco inventivo onde você pode optar por um counter hitkill com as hiden blades, esquivar e torcer para acertar o hitkill ou pode passar 10 minutos batendo contra a arma do inimigo. Não tenho nostalgia com este jogo, então reconheço suas qualidades e evoluções, mas também suas limitações.
    Não há muito o que fazer no mundo aberto, o combate fica cansativo e o stelth pouco se faz importante, usado em missões bem repetirivas. 90% das vezes matar um inimigo na beira de um telhado fará ele cair, e 60% das vezes você cai junto se atacar correndo. Não é um grande problemão, mas me chateia bastante, principalmente porque geralmente você ataca correndo.

    Um detalhe que é bom e ruim: se atacar com a hiden blade e entrar em alerta, com sorte você consiga matar até 6-7 inimigos antes fo modo combate desabilitar a kill das blades. É algo que parece errado, mas pelo menos te salva de enfrentar 10 inimigos em um combate repetitivo sempre.

    No mais, história é muito boa, com personagens interessantes, em especial Ezio, mas sinto que falta um pouquinho de polimento em algumas mecânicas.    … Expand

The best Game in the AC saga, incredible combat, very serious story but with a very charismatic character, Ezio Auditore da Firenze is one of the best characters in the games and by far the best of Assassin's Creed, transforms history and geopolitics in a very fun making historical people appear in the game, such as Machiavelli, Leonardo Da Vinci and even the 214th Pope of the Catholic Church, Venice as one of the best settings in the saga, fails a little in parkour and stealth, but improves much of the first game.… Expand

    Why you may ask ? Good question.
    Assassin's Creed 2 offers an incredible story, following the life of Ezio Giovanni Auditore Da Firenze, a Young nobleman playboy, that becomes a well honed assassin following his Family's unfair execution, the story shows the incredible development of Ezio, and change of his motives, persona and goals to something much more bigger and impactful, on his journey he meets up with many people that guide him or change his view on how the world works and how the system is being tampered so easily by evil shadowy hands, this story, disregarding its simplicity, remains one of the greatest stories in any game, I dare say.
    The gameplay, while dated, remains complicated, hard to master, and needs more attention and wisdom than just spamming some buttons, making the game quite unresponsive at times, but much more immersive.
    The graphics are decent, not something that will blow you off, but quite colourful and fitting each atmosphere, since each city has its own ambience, Monteriggioni is all dark and gloomy, Venice is all colourful and alive, Firenze is all saddened and grey, and Forli is all dark and dirty, giving each map, city and location a unique feel to it.
    The music is nothing to ignore as well, since the "Ezio's family" Soundtrack became the trademark of the entire franchise, the music varies a lot to suit each city as well, pushing the entire uniqueness of each map towards the extreme.
    In summary, if you like great story-telling, amazing music, immersive gameplay and exquisite graphics, AC 2 is right there for you, and from me, it's a solid 9.5/10. (Since Metacritic doesn't allow commas, I gave it a 10, anything that surpasses the left side of the decimal value goes straight to the next one, ex: 8.5-> 9)    … Expand

    I played 25 hours. I'm about 98% done. I did everything possible, only the feathers remained. I was able to collect 58 of them. I wish there was something to show feathers on the map. Definitely better than the first game overall. To compare with the first game;

    Good sides; 1_) A larger world design. Various tasks to do. Historical places to visit. Special missions that we can    I played 25 hours. I'm about 98% done. I did everything possible, only the feathers remained. I was able to collect 58 of them. I wish there was something to show feathers on the map. Definitely better than the first game overall. To compare with the first game;

    Good sides;
    1_) A larger world design. Various tasks to do. Historical places to visit. Special missions that we can platform. A fortress of our own that we can develop.
    2_) Nice story and dialogues. The mystery story pieces we can find are codexes. The secrets and puzzles we're trying to solve. 2 beautiful DLCs.
    3_) Money system. Weapons, armors, etc. that we can buy.
    4_) Art design, atmosphere, music better.
    5_) We can exit the game more easily :)
    6_) Subtitled hell yeah!

    Bad sides;
    1_) conTROLS!!! still very bad especially if you play with keyboard+mouse. The reason I gave the game an 8 is just because the controls are bad. I wish I could see a better job from the first game.

    I think this is one of the best game that Ubisoft ever created. The story of Ezio is outstanding, parkour feels very good and the combat is entertaining. One of the best AC.

    It was the best AC title Ubisoft ever did. No other ever jumped so high as this one here. The story is beautifully crafted, the characters are clear and understandable, and Ezio has at least enough motivation to do what he does. And of course stealth, the fundamental feature of this game that fans have long forgotten since AC Origins.

The most beautiful soundtrack, ambience and feeling itself. Being in the cities of Italy and the masterful music of Jesper Kyd plays while carrying on the best revenge story in gaming was just something special. Ezio development is maybe best protagonist development from boy to man in gaming and maybe even popular film industry ( i cant say for every film ever but from thousands i watched he is)

    Parkour demands practice and is actual gameplay not "pres W and shift" and don't worry,
    Fighting is very satisfactory with nice animations that are even better than latest titles.
    AC as series became game that chase its own tale in terms of story but first 3 AC with titles in between (Brotherhood and such...) with AC IV and Rouge are very very very excellent on itself and can exist without others parts. I like others AC's but they are lacking much for titles like AC II.

    - босс-файты проходятся тупым "закликиванием; - мелкие технические, игромеханические огрехи. Почему начал с минусов? Потому что все остальное один большой плюс. Отличный представитель серии от прекрасных разработчиков.    Минусы игры:
    - просто до отвращения нудные ДЛС, которые в ПК версию включены по умолчанию и которые нельзя пропустить (в общей оценке принял решение не учитывать их);

    Games visuality and atmosphere is fascinating. well, the graphics are outdated obviously but the atmosphere bringed by real structure and Italia's tissue is wonderfull. The map is a little bit bigger than first game. And therefore player can not be feel like their's character are bigger than city. I wish    Assassin's Creed 2, one of the most classic revenge story of all video game history.

I wish they filled this empty spaces with more real life structure, but im still happy with this map design.
    Game's core mechanics and animations are nearly same with the first game. But there is some improvements and extra mechanics like new weapons, smoke bomb and few parkour mechanics etc.
    Games play time is way too much. In the first half of game, all the quests and map discovering stuffs feels enjoyable. But in the second half of the game, all the things are becoming so boring, and the mechanics are became overused. And unfortunately game doesn't channel players to do stuff except for main quests. And it is a lack of game design. The game is way too easy to beat, and the player nearly doesn't have to improve character's stuff even the game has many different way to improve stats. There's a lot of weapon and armour upgrades, but i only bought a knife and do some shield upgrades, although i was lack of upgrade way to much, i didn't find any difficult to beat the game. And the game has some pointless investment features, but i never had to use this investments.
    Game's story is one of the most iconic revenge story of all video game time. The only bad thing about the story is, the time issue. In my opinion game is about 5 hours longer then it's needed. And almost all the time i couldn't remember why i am doing this missions and what is my goal or motivation.    … Expand

    Its an Open-World game set during the Renaissance. The path of the game is based on revenge against the Templar in both the past and the present. The combat is more brutal than the last game and adding different weapons was a great addition to the game. The disarm and counter animation adds more depth to the combat and make you feel like a true assassin. There are loads of weapons in yourIts an Open-World game set during the Renaissance.     For me, this game is not only the best in the AC series, but also, in principle, the best Ubisoft game. It reminds me of the days when Ubisoft had not yet slipped into miserable grind games without a plot, but made good games with a good plot and characters. This game deserves its place in history as a great action game.

    Assassin's Creed II is my favourite game of all time travelling in Italy is just fascinating and Ezio's story made me play the entire franchise but Assassins Creed II is my favourite and i dont think it is appreciated enough i just wish they would still do games this passionetly

    In my opinion, the second version is one of the best of all Assassin's Creed serie. Differently from the first, the history was well built. The main character (Ezio Auditore da Firenze) is considered by me the most striking.

Although we play for him here, Ubisoft does not forget the storyline of the presence in the form of Anim, which we climb toAssassin's Creed II is not only a sequel that takes the series to a completely different level, but also the best part of the series ever (in my opinion). Gameplay is a bit better than in the first part. This time we finally have some currency that we can then spend. That would really be missing in the previous game. In addition to the main missions, there is something to do. You could have completed side missions in the first Assassin's Creed, but here they are better and most importantly you can explore the map, take a loot and thus earn some cash, for which you can then shop. Great. We would have secondary content and now the main storyline. That was the stumbling block in the previous part in my eyes, which is why I am so glad that it is no longer the case here. The story is much more interesting, the missions are no longer so repetitive and especially the story is simply here. The fact that we will meet Leonard Da Vinci here also benefits from the story, and in fact, from the second part onwards, Ubisoft began to put characters from that time into each part. It's not how, in a number one story, something happens at the beginning, then a few repetitive missions, and then the end, where something happens again. No. Here the game springs from the very beginning to the very end. So the game looks great and in total it is already smiling at the rating of 10, which does not fall, unfortunately due to the situation on the PC. I can't determine the optimization much, because the game is really old and so it can be tightened anywhere, but I mean the control, which is just so rough on the keyboard with the mouse. Rotating the mouse just works weirdly here. Well, at least I didn't go down without explaining myself first. Which brings me to such a small recommendation, and that is if you plan to play the game on a PC, then get a gamepad. I started playing the game with him after a while and it was immediately about something else and it was better played right away. From that moment on, I started playing the whole series on the gamepad, and I'm actually happy for this imperfection of the game, because it showed me that this series is just made for the gamepad.     My favorite game in the Assassin's Creed franchise and one of my top five games in general. From the story to the mechanics, it is definitely worth a play. Coming in at about 14 hours of enjoyment, do I recommend this? YES!

    For me this is where this series truly began. First game seems like a demo, proof of concept that was reused to make this great game. Ezio is the best character in this series, nothing comes even close after that.

    The best game in the series! Almost everything is good in it. If the developers stopped after "Revelations", the series would not be disgraced by all sorts of "Origin", "Odyssey" and "Valhalla".

    I don't know how come but I feel like I have been familiar with the series my whole life without ever playing it. In my childhood GTA and Assassin's Creed were two household names all kids in my area have heard about and though I even managed to play Vice City and San Adreas in my early days I didn't manage to get my hands on any installment of Assassin's Creed    "Improved to Perfection"
    I don't know how come but I feel like I have been familiar with the series my whole life without ever playing it. In my childhood GTA and Assassin's Creed were two household names all kids in my area have heard about and though I even managed to play Vice City and San Adreas in my early days I didn't manage to get my hands on any installment of Assassin's Creed since then... untill now.

    Of course I decided to start from the original AC game and was... disappointed? The animation felt sluggish, the controls were messed up, the whole gameplay simply didn't feel "right". What I was pleasantly surprised with is this whole going-to-your-ancestors-memory thing - I wonder why the fact that in AC you aren't just an assassin living in different time periods of the past but also are an ordinary man living in present time through memories of whose you have access to all the assassins from the past because they were his ancestors has been so carefully hidden from me - I don't know about you but for me that is quite interesting. Anyway, after playing AC1 for about 6 hours I decide to give it up and move on to something else. I will return back to AC franchise 2 months later...

    What convinced me to give the franchise a second try was: 1) my friend assuring me to not even trying to give AC1 a shot because of how bad it is in comparison to others 2) AC2 has a "must-play" badge on metacritic so it had to be worth the try 3) I still wanted to understand what made AC franchise so popular and successful - there should be a reason. As I found out later - Assassin's Creed 2 was the reason.

    From the moment the first cut scene kicked in I knew the next 30 hours are going to be interesting - the facial animation and the overall acting was so good, duuude, I can only imagine how mindblowing it looked back in 2009. The voiceacting and the italian accent is top notch - the characters feel alive and relatable. The plot is amazing - just a classic story about family, revenge, justice and power (which eventually expands to something more....epic?) Nothing feels overstretched or added just in sake of prolonging the game time. Can't say much about the sidequests as I didn't bother myself much doing them. Also I was surprised AC2 continues the main story of Desmond which takes place in the modern times because to be honest I don't think I know any other game that did that before or after (oh, I know - MW2 and MW3 but that's a little bit different because after MW1 became a huge success it was easier to take risks and not finish the story in the second installment but do that in the third part instead as they knew MW2 will be success too and they will have to make MW3 anyway while Ubisoft couldn't be sure Assassin's Creed original game will succeed so making it just a piece of a bigger puzzle was really a brave move, in my opinion).

    What is the first thought when we think about Assassin's Creed games? Story? Music? Murders? Hidden Blade? Maybe. But what really comes to mind first is the parkour. The ability to climb buildings to the very top no matter how tall the building is, jumping from roof to roof in an effortless manner that's what AC games are actually all about and that's what really lacked for me in the first AC game - getting from point A to point B just wasn't funny. Assassin's Creed 2 is complete opposite in this manner - I was simply enjoying running, climbing and jumping around. Ubisoft did a great job in animating Ezio's movements so your parkour could feel as smooth as possible. I also appreciated what they did to the Leap of Faith - the right animation, the right sound design and the right combination of both makes such act of bravery truly breathtaking.

    Not everything is perfect. Combat system is pretty straigtforward and doesn't offer you much freedom and space for improvisation. While counter-attacks cut scenes looks bad ass the overall fighting sequences definitely lack depth and after some time you just treat the fights like chores you have to do in order to move further.

    Conclusion: Assassin's Creed 2 is a perfect sequel to its predecessor. Now I understand why Ubisoft believed in it despite quite flawed the first installment of the series and why this franchise has become as big as it is today with millions of fans all around the globe.    … Expand

    Assassin’s Creed II is a gem, a truly masterpiece also on PC. Developing a new economic system, and bringing more attention to combats, notoriety and context-script, Ubisoft achieves an awesome and epic experience. This sequel is far better than the first one.

    Two years later, Assassin's Creed tries again to make real those promises from Ubisoft, and prove itself as a better game than it was. The truth is that, despite the Renaissance setting, the vivid locations and the historical landmarks, the new features added don't really improve the sequel: the same repetitive mechanics remain, as the flawed enemy AI, a rough combat system and moments of frustration coming from issues with the camera and the control response in the platform sections. Assassin's Creed II it's still a good game but far from the masterpiece Ubisoft has been promising.
