Jul 18, 2022As Dusk Falls is a fantastic game that puts your attention where it rightly deserves to be, on the winding choices and tough decisions of desperate people caught in a desperate situation.
-
Jul 27, 2022Thanks to its ability to constantly cut the ground from under its feet, As Dusk Falls does not turn into a run-of-the-mill narrative that we will forget in an hour. Instead, the game leaves its mark on us, the sad but understandable problems of its characters casting a long shadow. And it certainly won’t get out of my head for a long time, making me think what if I did one way or another.
-
Jul 18, 2022As Dusk Falls is a masterwork of branching storytelling that makes the best out of its comic book-style animations, which end up giving you the opportunity to fill the negative space with your imagination – and this works surprisingly well during some of the more intense scenes. It’s an impressive solo experience, but its eight-player mode makes it a potential hit at family or friend gatherings where gamers and non-gamers mix.
-
Aug 9, 2022As Dusk Falls is a gripping tale of fate, chaos, and a storm of desire from several strong characters; everyone wants something, and not everyone is going to get what they want. Fortunately, you have the ability to steer the ship, but the thing about storms and ships is that sometimes the laws of nature have more sway. That’s how life goes — a reality which is expertly communicated in this solemn story.
-
Jul 21, 2022As Dusk Falls is an immersive drama in an atmospheric guise with straightforward gameplay. A wonderful alternative for a movie night.
-
Aug 8, 2022A gripping experience, despite an ending that kicks itself up the arse.
-
Jul 25, 2022As Dusk Falls does nothing to reinvent the genre, but playing it feels like watching a groundbreaking crime show — one of those that stays in your thoughts and makes you feel like diving back into the story as soon as possible. While it struggles to make sense as a multiplayer experience, the game nonetheless has an unique art style and brutal story about family and its influence on our lives. Being INTERIOR/NIGHT's first release, the studio deserves praise for its merits, especially in terms of plot and art style.

-
Jul 18, 2022As Dusk Falls is a perfect video game to play in company regardless of the experience of the people involved in the game, a well-written and remarkably resolved decisional adventure that delivers an interesting story, and will guarantee you a couple of nights of good entertainment.
-
Jul 18, 2022This is an interesting interactive drama with a solid script, where decisions matter and the multiplayer is well integrated, even if sometimes it struggles with the interactions and its narrative.
-
Jul 26, 2022Despite having dull gameplay mechanics, As Dusk Falls is a thrilling narrative drama with an endearing cast.
-
Jul 18, 2022As Dusk Falls tells a touching story whose universal themes (family, forgiveness, loyalty) will speak to a wide audience. Staged with talent thanks to an inspired editing and well-chosen music, the title has the good idea of alternating humor and darkness, moments of bravery and erasure. Fascinating in its first half, the software published by Microsoft struggles to find the same flashes in its last three chapters, which is regrettable. With a restrictive gameplay that will not reconcile those allergic to interactive film with the genre, As Dusk Falls shines with its many choices that cause very real consequences. Isn't that the most important for an Interactive Drama? If you have the Game Pass, it would be a shame to miss out.
-
Jul 18, 2022If you're not put off by the style of graphic animation and are a fan of narrative games, you should try this title, especially with friends. The discussions it can generate to make decisions, with the possibility of vetoing some of them, is an interesting idea, as is the broadcast mode on Twitch. Even in solo, the scenario as well as the atmosphere of the game, and the delicate situations it proposes, are worth the detour. The graphics and music are particularly well done. Don't expect a challenge, since the title is aimed at all players. As for the storyline ramifications, they are numerous and easily accessible enough to promote replayability.
-
Jul 18, 2022As Dusk Falls will please you as much as its script does. There isn't much more to read because there isn't much to play with. If the story of one family or the other is able to grab you, you will enjoy the whole time the adventure lasts and you may even be encouraged to replay some stages to make a different decision.
-
Jul 22, 2022As Dusk Falls is not without merits, but its price is maybe a little too steep for what it is.
-
Jul 18, 2022As Dusk Falls is an eventful and characterful adventure with many stories to tell. Unfortunately, too many stories create confusion and some stories remain without a real ending. A shame for a title with a unique and well-made aesthetic.
-
Jul 22, 2022As Dusk Falls is held together by a strong start and good characters, despite the narrative deflating itself in the second half. Its choice and consequence system lacks real significance and more polish was needed for its atypical visual design.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 25, 2024The overall good impression of the game is somewhat spoiled by its visuals, which, thanks to an unpleasant combination of static images and moving elements, lag behind the otherwise engaging story. [Issue#321]
-
Jul 18, 2022As Dusk Falls -- if a little hap-hazard on execution and relatively safe on the gameplay front -- does fortunately get the basics right. Not quite a game-changer by any stretch, but one salvaged by some commendable character performances and a narrative guaranteed to keep players guessing and intrigued to see events through.
-
Oct 22, 2022Stylish presentation and a hefty dose of nonlinearity spark the initial interest, but the humdrum narrative and simplistic gameplay mechanics discourage from exploring the "what if" alternatives.

Jul 18, 2022Aside from some glaringly wooden dialogue in the early chapters, As Dusk Falls is a thrilling story that had me hanging on every word. It immediately establishes an incredibly tense situation and I couldn't stop playing until I'd seen it through. While some might stop after one playthrough, the narrative flowchart for each chapter shows that there's much more to experience, and the ability to jump back in at any point of the story is a welcome alternative to doing an entirely new run. As it became apparent that the story was drawing to a close, I found myself desperately hoping for just one more scene so that I didn't have to leave the characters behind so soon. Whether As Dusk Falls gets a direct sequel remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: I can't wait to see what Interior/Night do next.
