I have sunk almost 100 hours into this game and all I can say is its average at best. There's almost no content at endgame. And the game play becomes boring at around 50 hours in.

The game has good visuals and some good mechanics. I love Flying through the map in missions. But, the story is bland and boring. Everything turns out repetitive. I experience a few FPS drops and many bugs. I have 6hs played in the game. I do not recommend it, Destiny 2 it´s better than this piece of ****

This is a clear case of "haters." I am sure that many of the critics have not even played the game.
Currently the game does not deserve a 10, it is a 7-8 game sincerely.
There are some technical errors, but I have not suffered any. I would rate as positive: -The gameplay is very very good. When you are flying or fighting is very frenzied while the game is very smooth. Gameplay of 10.

    - The possibilities of configuration are very varied which allows you to change the way you play in each game with the same javelin.

As a negative I can say:

-The story is very bad, predictable and childish. The characters have no charisma.

I think in a few months we will be facing a game that will mark a before and after.
It's a pity they did not wait to get it out when fully developed. When it came out it could have been a very developed beta. Right now the game sinks content endgame in addition to failures in the loot system that would have been solved if they had tested it before.

The most positive thing is that EA is listening attentively to the community and they are adding big patches every so often.
It is a very ambitious project to abandon it so I am sure that in a short time we will be facing a huge game.

If you're coming in to Anthem for a fully complete, comprehensive story, then you'll be disappointed. There are threads of a story here, and it's very much like the first episode or two of a television series. You get just enough to make you curious, but not enough to satisfy.

If you're coming into Anthem for a third-person shooter with some pretty decent mechanics, then you'll have fun. In this case it's like Destiny, where you could blast through the story, then not have much to do until the next set of content came out. You would still run through the EDZ, or the old Cosmodrome, gathering materials to make yourself stronger. End game Anthem is much the same way.

To call Anthem a multiplayer game is I think a bit misleading, but certainly not false. I really have a feeling that Anthem was aimed at people who enjoy single player open worlds. I'm definitely one of those people. I have a couple of friends on my various gaming app lists, but none of my friends on Origin bought Anthem yet. So I've been matchmaking my story missions and actually kinda enjoying that the pixar quality cut scenes are forced, and that I don't have a friend on the line talking my ear off while it plays out. If I had a friend complaining about "cut scenes in general"(or whatever) in my ear while the story was playing out, I think it would be taking away from the experience quite a bit. Don't get me wrong I love my friends, but I really love my journeys to Bioware's glorious narratives as well. I hope to get some Anthem playing friends along the way to the end game, because I think it would be a fun multiplayer game at that point. I've got about 19 hours in and I just hit level 14(WOOOO!), no rushing here as I stated earlier. Picked the Storm first but I'm now in love with my Interceptor. To put myself in context just let me tell you that I finished all of the main content in ME Andromeda, I think that makes me a Bioware fanboy. However, I'll admit it was drab in storytelling and I skipped the epilogue because the characters had not developed the identities that previous ME games have. It's hard not to give the game a 10 with all the hate, but if I could give it a higher rating I would. I've really enjoyed every moment, and I can't wait to get back to it. I own somewhere around 350 pc games and I know a jewel when I see it. It's not a rush to level 30, there is a great somewhat interactive movie in there. Enjoy it! Expand

I will never play their games again for saying that, because it just means they want to only focus on how to maintain a cash flow post-release and continue to nickle and dime customers. The missions are very short and extremely boring. There is no endgame content and no reason to keep playing after you complete the campaign. Everything is slow and plodding, from the layers and layers of menu's that operate so slowly, to walking around in the pointless lifeless city, to the dozens of long and horribly boring conversations that are completely pointless and meaningless, to the actual gameplay itself. I only gave it a 3 because the gunplay and spellcasting is fun and the sounds are great, but not really though when the framerate keeps tanking constantly to 30fps or lower. Expand

I think that the game has been bashed way more than it deserves. Its like all the media outlets are looking for faults. Then again, BioWare did not make the best decision, releasing a half baked demo that did not resemble the final product.

The game has a great tempo when you are playing (PC). I feel like a super hero, jumping around and going all crazy with my laser sword and guns.

The graphics are amazing. I only encountered some small bugs (the most prominent was when one character was no where to see when you had a dialog with said character).

I wish that the gear system would be more fun. Its nice how it is now, you can add and swop loads of stuff, but it really feels like they dont make a great impact (lvl 22 atm). In other games, i can sit for ages and go over gear to find the best setup. I hope this feature gets more engaging later on.

Together with Metro Exodus the release of the anthem trailer back in 2017 E3 was the reason I decided to get a PC and have been waiting for this title to release for three years. Why I start the review saying this is because I think that the bad impression me and many others have about this game is not only because of how bad the game actually is but also because of how good it looked in those trailers back then. When I saw that scene where the character gets in the suite and jumps down the cliff and start flying through the beautiful map made me think that I was in front of one of the best single payer campaigns of all time because I imagined myself flying through the map freely discovering caves and new lands with npcs that give you missions. This game lacks everything that’s was going to make it good in the beginning, it is boring to the point that maybe you will get tired in less then a day of play, you will be doing the same stuff over and over again through the whole game in very similar places. Even if you like arcade kind of games Anthem will be too much for you and being so arcade is another reason for the game being the less immersive of 2019. While playing anthem you will not care at all about who your character is or where he/she is going because the story is weak and so superficial that you wont care. Loading screens are an absolute nightmare, I tried the game (full release, non beta) in a M2 drive and loading screens were atrocious not because loading screens take too long (some do) but because they are everywhere breaking again the whole immersion of the game. It is a game that forces multiplayer when it shouldn’t and requires a constant connection to the internet.
There is a chance that you get exalted in the beginning while you are learning the mechanics and you fly for the first time (flying its cool) and maybe you will get excited but don’t worry because the game will take care of that excitement just give it 30 minutes more and you will see.

Anthem is a looter-shooter made by Bioware. Coming on the heels of other major successful franchises, like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, there were enormous expectations laid on this all-new IP.

In Anthem, you play as The Freelancer, a man (or woman) who is suited up in a powerful javelin exosuit – basically a suit of power armor similar to what Iron Man wears. You can fly, you can hover, and you can unleash powerful abilities like rocket launchers or lightning blasts.

This is a really cool power fantasy, and the game actually delivers quite well on the core experience – you zoom around through the sky in a very satisfying manner, you land with a satisfying clunk, you blow up enemies with powerful explosions or lay into them with potent weapons. This is all pretty good, and the game as a whole is very pretty (even if the environments are limited to three or four major types).

The game has four main suit types – the generic middle-of-the-road Ranger, the pseudo-mage Storm, the agile Interceptor, and the huge stomping colossus. Each of them has a different ability set and plays differently – the Storm hovers around the battlefield, while the Interceptor dodges very rapidly and the Colossus stomps around and uses a shield instead of dodging. All of them feel pretty satisfying to play, and they all have their own distinctive abilities and playstyle.

The core of the plot starts out reasonably – you are one of only two survivors of an expedition into The Heart of Rage, a Cataclysm caused by an out-of-control artifact left behind by the Shapers, a race of neglectful precursors who tried (and failed) to harness the Anthem of creation and all left (or died) long ago, leaving their artifacts behind to periodically explode. It is up to the Freelancers to stop this, but after the Heart of Rage, they’re scattered and dispirited.

You, as The Freelancer, try to rebuild the reputation of the Freelancers while protecting Fort Tarsis, a walled town near the still-raging cataclysm. You get missions around town from the various major factions – the remaining Freelancers, the Arcanists (scientists who study shaper relics), the Sentinels (basically the police/army), and Corvus (a spy agency that works for your government), trying to make things better. Most of the plot of the game is consumed with trying to get back into the Heart of Rage to silence the relic that is causing the disaster, but there are a number of side missions with the various side factions which help them to accomplish their own goals – finding various artifacts and scrolls, hunting down outlaws who are ambushing people, saving people who had gone missing due to mishaps with the artifacts.

None of this is particularly remarkable – the main plot is merely serviceable, and also feels like some parts of it were cut out due to time constraints (or excessive numbers of bugs), and the side quests are of similar quality (though more coherent, if slightly lower budget in terms of cutscenes). While the actual plot is unremarkable, the various characters you deal with around town are interesting enough, and have solid voice acting and are reasonably fun to talk to, even if a few of them regurgitate their life stories out onto your boots at the slightest provocation.

All in all, the core of this game is reasonably competent – the gameplay is fun, and the plot is mediocre but with some reasonable character moments. There’s some enemy variety, from your standard dudes with guns to enemies in the various types of exosuits you use to gigantic titans which send out waves of fire at you, but it runs kind of thin by the end, and there’s only about six types of boss in the entire game, plus a couple other elite enemy types to mix things up.

But at the same time, it is a game that is really hard to recommend, because I’m really not sure whether the people who made it ultimately had a cohesive vision for how it should be, and how to keep players engaged. The game ultimately runs out of things to show you before it runs out of gameplay, and while at its present length (about 30 hours of content) it is reasonable, it still felt a bit lacking in variety by the end. Once you get to the end, you run out of content entirely, and there’s little value in sticking around – and yet, this is somehow a Games as a Service game, which intends to dribble and drabble out content over the course of months.

And the game is quite buggy; while the patches have made it better, it still has some real issues.

All in all, I liked Anthem, as did a number of its players. I definitely had fun playing it, even if it was frustrating at times. But if bugs bother you, this game will absolutely enrage you, and the game is only "good enough", not exceptional.

The original review i did was positive 9/10. This was made when there was actually loot in the looter shooter. thats no longer the case. Its pretty clear that the leadership on this game has no idea what they have in their hands and are quickly destroying it.

After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
