That's just a testament to how bad this game sucks because I've never heard of any other game ever doing something like this.

End game is also very limited. You'll experience all of it in a few hours. So if you are hoping for a good end game experience, I'm sorry but you will not get that.

Most of the hate is coming from people expecting the game to be a failure and will not allow anytime for the game to adjust. For example, the time from VIP demo (beta) and public demo (beta) many great improvements were done. Within first week of VIP release hot fixes and patches to address issues and concerns has already been performed (Quest requirement changes and the loading screen times have been reduced).

Any game that is online will have bugs and broken aspects (Black Ops had the gliding glitch that allows players to jump and glide to get speed faster), Grand theft auto 5 has hackers in multiplayer that destroyed economy, and many many more examples.

The major thing that is different is the expectation for the game is to fail and thus people already write it off. Give the game a chance to actually release to the public before people write it off... let the game play for a month or two before its declared dead)

Then as the story progressed I found myself caring about the characters more and more specifically Faye and Haluk. Overall I think its a great story has its highs and lows as any story does but overall its pretty great. Classic bad guy wants to gain ultimate power and we have to stop him kind of thing least for now since this is going to be an ever growing story. You will need to keep in mind that this is not a single player RPG while playing this though so dont expect your actions to have an impact on this since its a shared world between all players. Though your side conversations with npcs in Fort Tarsis will have different outcomes from other players but im not sure if you will see it affect the story. There are loading screens but bioware has mentioned multiple times that they are working on shortening them. Dont listen to the people complaining about the tombs mission as bioware made it so that everything required for the mission is tracked from level 3 and onward. They have listened to our feedback from the early access and have implemented a fair bit of it that they could in a short time. Some of the other things we have requested and reported as an issue will take a longer time to fix. Taking all of this into consideration I think the game is worth the money for the enjoyment I have gotten out of it. Ive put around 70 hours between the early access and the demo and the game is still very enjoyable. Expand

The developers of Anthem created a visually stunning world. However, the positives for the game end there. The game was released unfinished in that it lacks a great story, meaningful end game content, and a large array of post-game challenges. Additionally, the intended grind of the game is made more unbearable by the incredibly slow loading screens.

I like the NPCs and the investment Bioware made to capture the actors' facial expressions looks really, really great! Every time I visit Fort Tharsis, I notice new stuff or new NPCs and conversations. I've been taking my time to explore the environments and looking studying the detail put into the models of the local species. With all of the events planned over the rest of the year, I'm looking forward to what's next and I haven't even gotten to the end game yet. I understand why some people are disappointed especially if the game runs poorly for them, but I'm having a blast. I want Bioware and Anthem to do well and I believe that it will only get better from here. I would love to see them expand the biomes and roll out more, richer story arcs. Expand

The game isn't finished! They have big plans to continue to add content, improve gameplay, and are actually responding exactly how you'd want a team committed to their project to respond!

There's planned and already developed content and they are listening to the customer base to make quality of life improvements. 15-30 hrs of content will likely become 40-50 as new stuff is released.

This mindset of having to have a fully fleshed out game on release is archaic and problematic for games like this. If the game is fun and playable, why not start playing while it develops even further?

The largest crowd funded game (Star Citizen) has raised hundreds of millions and doesn't have a released product yet. Its BETA is playable, and I've happily committed $ there too, but I have happily paid for the game knowing what the game COULD become with my support.
Athena isn't any different. It's a game that they want to grow and continue to evolve. Invest now and support it's development. Enjoy a fun game that's just going to get better.

All these haters just want to be seen as important nay sayers and are simply restating what each other say... there's no creativity or imagination to their complaints. They're dry and repetitive. Now if only they can evolve with the times. Fully developed games were important to have fleshed out using old technologies like floppy drives.

Most of the best games of our day continued to evolve. World of Warcraft, Destiny, Borderlands... the attention the game was given post release in each of those cases was far more important than the initial release.
I'm all but hoping this game has the opportunity to become what it should become before the haters just looking spread salt have their way.

The mechanics are refreshing, with the added mobility of flight that can make the difference between walking away a champion, or lying in a pool of your own blood. The gun play is top notch, by far the best feeling is emptying a clip into an enemy. And there is always that moment of suspense when you hear a slight ding, letting you know you just got loot, and your dying to see what it is. The world as well, utterly amazing, You could easily just fly (Yes fly) around and find new things for hours, I would know as I have almost 50 hours at this point invested into the game, although I would say 2-3 hours of that is purely in customization. The color options and options available are amazing, and the premium items are so easily earned through in game grinding that you will never have to spend a cent more unless you cannot be bothered spending 2-3 hours grinding out the coin.

The story is a little generic right now, and the contracts can seem a bit repetitive, and after a little bit you may want a break, and the load screens can be....painful at times (If you are on PC load it onto an SSD, will cut the load time down substantially)

If you want a game that is like hey day Destiny, or the Division, then this is not for you. If your after a game that looks to be in a much better starting spot then the two, with a greater possibility to expand due to how the lore and world is set up, then this will be by far the best option out there, just dont go in expecting to find the diamond without allowing some polishing to happen first.

But there is one HUGE problem and it is ea, when those %#$% who are responsible for decisions will stop ruing game after game and will learn that greed and dumb decisions don't lead to success.

There is a long list of problems:
    -A rush release which includes:
    -"Dead" hub.
-Cheesy and horrible dialogs made for political correctness.
    -A terribly average campaign
    -Boring grinding
-And boring missions often without sens.
-Load screens and load screens again
-If you die, you can't respawn, and you have wait until someone reviews you
    -lack of diversity of surroundings.
-Awful fast endgame and poor difficulty changes
    -Poor loot system.
    -and go on...

It is not a game made by BioWare. It is a game made by greedy ea. Which words you translate as a: "I like money!" every time when they talk about game experience, diversity etc. It is all about the maximum profit made by stupid decisions to please shareholders. There is no other explanation of how the game witch HUGE potential is ruined once again for short term benefits and "infinity" growth for shareholders. When they will learn that there is no such thing like infinity growth. Bye, bye BioWare.

Anthem looked very promising before its release, something that most games share with each other when a big publisher is in charge of the marketing. However, the mostly transparent and very down-to-the-community approach that the devs took by being very active on twitter, reddit and on their livestreams build up at least hope, that Bioware would've found back to their former glory.

And at its core, Anthem is a really strong game. The gunplay is solid, the different Javelins with their unique abilities have a good flow to them (despite some balancing issues) and the flying is not just a gimmick but something to factor in on every encounter. When there is one thing, where the game lives up to its expectations, it is the javelin design and the combat system surrounding it.

However, the good core of the combat is overshadowed by technical issues and a repetitive gameplay that rarely motivates you to spend time in the 'so called' endgame.

    Technical Issues / Performance:
First up: If you don't own an SSD, don't play Anthem. The game has loading screens for everything, including the Forge (which is there you change your items/javelin build) and it will take between 40-90 seconds (depending on the activity) to leave the loading screen. Sometimes, you even get a loading screen on top of a loading screen because the rest of your team already headed forward and the game forcibly pulls you to the rest of your team, which results in another loading screen.

There is a a sheer abundance of glitches and bugs that accompany the performance of the game which makes playing Anthem an ongoing gamble if you can actually play a mission or stronghold at all or if you have to reload everything, sometimes multiple times. It is fair to say that the state in which Anthem launched, is a complete embarrasment to their QA team or whoever is responsible for that mess that is in a worse technical state than the demo.

    Gameplay:
The gameplay of Anthem knows only three specific types of game encounters:
    > Point Defense
    > Fetch numbers of item A and bring it to ooint B
    > Kill stuff until your mission updates

Those three pillars of mission design repeat themselves over and over, even within the storyline, where Bioware could have gone nuts with all the cool stuff their storyline had to offer, if it had been properly executed. The game doesn't try to hide the three game mechanics from you and it doesn't try to mask it. Instead you kill the same 2-3 types of enemies of enemies over and over again, fetch the same items (not even those change, there are like 2-3 presets for them as well) until you get one unique bossfight at the end of the storyline and thats literally it.

The strongholds, which are supposed to be the endgame activity, have, despite a plethora of technical issues (which caused Bioware to deactivate quickplay for them temporarily) a good design despite the third one, which is just the last story mission tagged as a Stronghold.

    Storyline:
Bioware is known for their good and deep story in their games and in some interviews, they also acknowledged, that story would be a centerpiece of Anthem as well. However, the story itself was bland and uninspired and felt much more like an introduction to something bigger that we have yet to see. Sometimes there are bits where your character interacts with his dialogue partner, mostly during lenghty dialogue cutscenes and in those moments, you can really see that Bioware still got what it takes to tell a good story. Those cutscenes really sucked me in but where far too rare in order to make the otherwise bland story special.

The world of Anthem is so rich with interesting characters and unique features, however compared to their previous games, Anthem fails to tell an interesting storyline. In fact, the main campaign isn't even in line with their leveling curve and I finished the main storyline at around level 19 of 30 and had to grind 11 levels in strongholds, missions and contracts until I was able to experience the endgame.

    Endgame:
Anthems endgame is currently pretty much non-existent. If you had to call some part of the game "endgame", it would be unlocking the Grandmaster difficulties and playing the same three strongholds over and over in order to achieve legendary and masterwork items. And in fact, I think that would keep people at least entertained until their content patch in march hits. The numerous technical issues and horrendous loading times however, do a perfect job of blocking you from enjoying that form of content.

    Verdict:
Anthem has a strong base, but lacks in nearly every part despite its core gameplay, which is at least solid. You will only enjoy this game, if you somehow don't experience all the technical issues others are experiencing and if you fall in love with the gameworld. In any other case, I'd advise skipping this title. I think myself lucky that I only paid 15 Euros for EA premier access for this game.

Core design features also destroy immersion with constant loading screens, poorly designed menus, and a complete lack of basic features like squad communication, waypoint markers, ping systems, in-game menus, gear stats etc. In short the game feels very incomplete and unfinished. I've played demos that are more finished and polished than this "final" product.

Sure, new content is coming -- but, that won't fix the many core issues that slowdown, cripple, and choke the life out of an experience that could have been amazing. This is far from the "Bob Dylan of video games" ...

Barely worth the 15 bucks for Premium. Uninstalled after 5 hours.
If I want a looter shooter I'll just play Warframe,
Good bye BioWare, was nice knowing you.

The game, at least for me is actually enjoyable.
I have about 40 hours in game, haven't finished the main story, haven't done any strongholds yet, haven't reached max level. I have just been enjoying the game.
Yes, it has bugs, yes, it has little content. But that is no reason to give it a 0. Let's not forget that most live service game launch in a state with little content, and

If you rush to end-game, like most people do, of course you will finish it in 20-30 hours. This holds true for 60$ single player games as well.
If you pace it out, and actually try to enjoy the good things, by the time you reach to end content, new content will be available.

After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
