Good platformer with an average aftertaste. The game interestingly mixes 2d and 3d in pixel art, the graphics are visually pleasing but more for fans of pixel cyberpunk 2d. It looks like a souls like platformer, but the difficulties started only in end game locations. I did not find any problems or bugs in the gameplay, but it is very monotonous. The plot is intriguing at the beginning, but then over time, interest disappears. The good ending made me happy, it turned out cozy. The game is very average and for an amateur, but the next day I wanted to return to the game and continue playing, there was no disgust from the game. If you are a fan of souls like platformers, then you should definitely try it, I think the rest will not like it. I'm not a fan of platformers but I liked it. Expand

It gets pretty tedious the longer you play, janky UI, story is uninteresting and features lots of obnoxious dialogue, cutscenes can at least be skipped, input lag which makes it a real pain to play with some bosses, at some point the controller flips twin stick direction in at least one big boss fight, lock picking is another annoyance, map is useless most of the time, side missions areIt gets pretty tedious the longer you play, janky UI, story is uninteresting and features lots of obnoxious dialogue, cutscenes can at least be skipped, input lag which makes it a real pain to play with some bosses, at some point the controller flips twin stick direction in at least one big boss fight, lock picking is another annoyance, map is useless most of the time, side missions are hard to figure out what to do, bugs, annoying auto lock on with the gun, very generic uninteresting upgrading of weapons, junk collecting galore, shallow dress selection about 6-7 total, bland characters which I don't care about in the least, definitely needed a western game consultant.

The pixel graphics are nice, nice 2d/3d switching like Nier Automata, world is interesting to explore but not much there in the end. Overall it's a decent game but all the jank just adds up over time to where it outstays its welcome somewhere past half way or so. Needed more actual gameplay and a lot of polish that I'm not sure the team is capable of themselves. I wouldn't pay full price for it. This is rated as mixed on steam so I conclude there is just shills on here, like so many other reviews here.

ANNO: Mutationem definitely has its charm in its niche aesthetic. The amalgamation of 3D environments with the 2D sprites works quite well with the cyberpunk setting, evoking a pleasant PS One feeling. It’s a shame then that the story is derivative and nonsensical in many ways. It doesn’t help that the action is borderline generic albeit there is a commendable effort for an expansive bestiary of regular mobs and bosses.

ANNO: Mutationem had a lot of promise, but ended up spread far too thin. Both the exploration and combat lack any sort of depth, the story is nonsensical, and the sprite work looks ugly in motion.

Excellent, punchy side-scrolling combat against diverse and interesting enemies is almost enough by itself to make Anno: Mutationem an easy recommendation. When you add in the neon urban sprawl of Skopp City, bursting with flavor and character around every corner, it gets even easier. An unwieldy plot and less than amazing script show that if the project was missing one thing, it was probably an editor. But none of that stopped me from thoroughly enjoying all the things it did well.
