Steep learning curves aside, the payoff is totally worth it, in a rewarding game that really gets its hooks in.

Though Absolute Drift was not the drifting game that I wanted it to be, I was pleasantly surprised by what it actually was. As a relaxing and engrossing experience over the course of a short playtime, it's an interesting foray into the growing genre of alternative driving games.

A fun game, regardless of some of its physics issues and repetitive challenges.

The concept is as cool as the minimalistic art design that gives you the chance to be a four-wheeled magic marker. And while it might take a while to get used to the art of drifting, you get bored quickly by the redundant mission design.

There’s no danger in Absolute Drift, just repetition. Every point is a slam dunk. Every swing a hole-in-one. Every meal is dessert, and I’m starting to miss broccoli.

While boredom can set in as you perform the same handful of actions time and time again, there is just enough variety to keep you entertained. [Issue#165, p.98]

Absolute Drift is a simple arcade game with problematic physics that ruin a good idea.

It is very challenging at first, but with enough practice and repetition you feel yourself getting a little better. That is where the rewarding feeling comes from. But I wouldn’t say that the challenge is truly natural, some of the physics aren’t the most intuitive, but you can eventually adapt to them. Unfortunately the content just doesn’t really hook you that much. The race types and challenges tend to get a little repetitive, and there isn’t much pull to keep you going. The minimalist graphics are fine and do the job, but when the graphics are minimalist, the content is minimalist, and the gamer play is minimalist, it leaves a lot to be desired. The same company made Art of Rally, which was a far superior game. You can have a couple hours of fun with this game, but that’s about the max enjoyment. Full Review »

Easy to learn, but hard to master. While this game certainly has its frustrating moments, it by no means is a bad racing game. Once you getEasy to learn, but hard to master. While this game certainly has its frustrating moments, it by no means is a bad racing game. Once you get the hang of this game's controls, you'll start to appreciate Absolute Drift's charm. It isn't flashy. It isn't stylish. But for what it does (drifting), it does well. While it isn't very exciting and doesn't have much depth, I still find myself coming back to this charming little title every once in a while. Full Review »
