A Plague Tale: Requiem is a prime example of what a AA studio, given enough trust and resources, can accomplish. It’s a concise experience that didn’t waste my time, but it also scratched an itch I didn’t even know I had: a well-crafted stealth title meshed with folk horror elements that I had been craving since Siren: Blood Curse’s release in 2008. With an emotionally resonant script and an expert flow between stealth, horror, and exploration, A Plague Tale: Requiem feels like the sequel Innocence deserves. [Eurogamer Recommends]
  2. Requiem is certainly a dazzling display of detail, colour, and considerate art direction but it never quite reaches the momentum of its predecessor even though the stakes are unequivocally higher. Huge set pieces and a wider selection of abilities make sneaking through soldier and rat-infested areas feel like a thrilling, if slightly repetitive challenge, but Requiem’s story fails to hold the same level of drama and spectacle.

Lighting, shadows, even the smallest textures — everything feels like the real next-gen. A truly spectacular graphics and art design.

The game itself has become more mature and brutal with some really horrifying scenes along the way. The gameplay hasn't changed that much, but there are still some sweet additions like crossbow and new alchemy tools. The soundtrack is also pretty good and solid.

A massive step forward compared to the first game. That's how you make a good sequel.

But it still is an excellent game and I strongly recommend it for players that like a game with a good story and some really impressive visuals. Full Review »

It's a beautiful but not a very well optimised video game. There are some strange performance issues whether on low or ultra settings. 300,000 rats...is this really needed? Gameplay and story are the most important in any game and both of these are average. Good moments, average moments. Animation, lip sync and facial detail don't come close to games from Naughty Dog...and some rather clumsy game design which causes frustration. It's basically more of the same...visually a step up but even my 3080 with an 11th gen CPU and super fast RAM has performance issues that seem to be more about optimization rather than hardware. This is disappointing. Full Review »
