    Really liked the first and this improves on it in every way. Graphics are great, story is epic and moving, and gameplay is simple but fun. Highly recommend if you enjoy linear adventure games with great stories.

    This game is a masterpiece. The story, graphics, voice acting, soundtrack... Everything just works perfect. Things that happen in the story connected with brilliant music (especially Beyond the Horizon theme) is just another level.

    Finished this game yesterday, and its a true masterpiece, from the amazing graphics to the gameplay with the soundtrack with the even more gripping narrative. My congrats to the devs. Hope there will be a sequel as awesome as this game.

The story remains as engaging as ever, with a heavy commitment to his cast of compelling characters. But despite the technical and creative achievements, Asobo only got one Award and few nominations. I'm sure that given time, they will get more recognition.     Beautiful game with a fantastic and emotional story. Gameplay has been expanded since the first title, but it is still very much a stealth-centered experience. Absolute pleasure to engage with this narrative experience. Massive kudos to the devs and writers. Brilliant close to a unique series.

    Gameplay and combat has its downfalls, there are clearly some attempts from the devs to spice up the overall feel of the combat but it needed a major haul. I would've appreciated less hand holding, and more freedom. Also, they really need to step up their in-game / facial animations. I found cutscenes enjoyable, overall mocap was fine actually. What is even sadder is that some high quality dialogues are being squandered by such a bad presentation, so it hurts extra.

    Graphics are amazing. It is truly a herald of what is to come. Story is great. It tells a heartfelt story with great character development. It manages to build up two characters from the ground up. Since they greatly botched the development of Beatrice/Lucas in 1st gam, it was refreshing to see actual characters that adds meaningful value to hugo and amicia's adventure in Arnaud and Sophia. Also story telling is not made in a omniscient way and for me it really adds a lot. You can live the surprise, suspense and curiousity of our adventurers.

    Overall, I enjoyed this game a lot ! If not for the weird combat sections where you "run around" with those horrible animations and shoot stuff around with your sling; it would be a perfect game. Stealth sections were really enjoyable from a gameplay perspective. Not great, but decent.

    These devs really have the potential to make something super great in future. I look forward to Asobo's productions. My only hope is that they go bigger and manage to secure a higher budget / longer production time.

    After playing through on a Series X at 40fps, this game deserved more.
    So, I built a new PC just to get the max out of this game. A small fortune later and it was well worth it.

    Loved the first one so much and glad that this dropped on GamePass Day One. This is an absolutely amazing game. The attention to details and environment of the world are mind boggling. The game picks up a year later after the events of the first game. Amicia is a better fighter and goes through hell and back for his brother.     - lack of co-op, playing for other characters (I saw a lot of potential when so many allies were around);

    - Encouraging players to pass NOoneSHOT from the guard, run in the door, helping photo mode - the casualness of the game;

    - lack of bosses; test mode for speed, time;

    - lack of new, revolutionary mechanics (Luka could definitely show Kuzma's mother)

    Luka is the best character in the game, who was pushed to the 2nd plan, IMHO!
    But still THANK YOU for a worthy continuation of Innocence.

Gameplay and story are the most important in any game and both of these are average. Good moments, average moments. Animation, lip sync and facial detail don't come close to games from Naughty Dog...and someA 7? Yes. It's a beautiful but not a very well optimised video game.     8,5 without the performance issues, this game touched me a lot, the gameplay is cool i found more offensive than innocence.

    The water is ugly.. haha and the facial expression not amazing but all the other textures are really detailed .
    If you liked innocence you will adore requiem.
    We can see a real inspiration from the last of us while playing.

    This game brings tears of joy and sadness like the first one did. But here, everything hits way harder. From the improved gameplay and amazing voice acting to the breathtaking soundtrack and visuals, this is an expirience you will never forget. If there are games that deserve 10/10 even if only for the story, this is one of them.

    A sequel of epic proportions! Up par with the first game if not better. The story is very good and well written and a few added mechanics breathes what is already a familiar gameplay a new life into it.

    Beautiful graphics, great story, really good game. Optimization could be better but FSR 2,1 mod can fix framerate and still looks good. Btw, I play on GTX 1050 2GB on 1080p Low settings with FSR on Ultra Performence. Framerate is somthing like 40-50fps.

    This game is a must play if you liked a plague tale inoccence, level design graphics and story telling are amazing gameplay feels a little bit improved but its perfect for its story.
    Graphics 14.5/10 broke the scale.
    Story 8.5/10 i liked the vibe of the old one better but still this one hits the spot
    Gameplay 7/10 same as the old one but somehow feels new

Amicia 2.0 is relatable and inspiring, everything that Amicia 1.0 lacked (and not because her character was willingly written like that, I believe Amicia 1.0 lacked a lot of aspects that make a human a human, and aI could write for hours about how much this second chapter improves both narrative and gameplay from the first title, however I'll just focus on Amicia; This is the true Amicia. Amicia 2.0 is relatable and inspiring, everything that Amicia 1.0 lacked (and not because her character was willingly written like that, I believe Amicia 1.0 lacked a lot of aspects that make a human a human, and a girl a girl). Her character experiences a wave of good and bad moments and finally it reacts to them as a woman her age would do. Hers is a path of awakening towards the "letting things go" and not only "holding on" which is a perfect ending to the series.… Expand

    Requiem manages to deliver a fantastic result both graphically and cinematically.
    The scenery and locations in this game were very beautiful and very varied.
    The combat system was expanded a bit compared to innocence, but was the same at its core.
    I personally liked the fact that the areas were a bit more open. There were more paths you could go, instead of just the one scripted way.
    I don't want to write too much, so I'll get to the best part of the game: The Story.
    Asobo Studios have outdone themselves here.
    The writing of the story and the character development has been improved a lot in Reqiuem and for that Asobo gets my full respect. At first it drags a bit, but as time goes on, this once unusual story forms into a fantastically told drama about a boy affected by a mysterious "disease" and his sister, who would do anything for him. I won't spoil anything here, of course. It would be too bad if you guys out there don't experience this story for yourselves.
    Another thing I must mention is the acting of the voice actors. Especially Amicia.
    I think I would go so far as to say that I haven't seen/heard better acting to portray emotions in a video game. It's pretty damn good.
    I have not discovered any Bugs in my playthrough, which I found
    astonishing. Nowadays, games rarely release bug-free.

    The biggest problem I had with Requiem was the performance.
    Was running it on a 3080ti and had some drops here and there.

    Other than that, I really enjoyed this game and can highly recommend it to anyone who likes a beautiful told story and a good sneaking game.    … Expand

    It was interesting to watch the development of the plot, which was accompanied by good gameplay. When you play this game, you don't feel like you're doing something wrong in your life by wasting your time. It's a very good game :)

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Plague Tale: Requiem is a work of love that is worth experiencing despite its flaws.
    When you look at this game, you have to keep in mind that Asobo Studios do not have the same resources as Naughty Dog or other AAA studios. They even use their own engine.
    Especially the outdoor areas look fantastic, the lighting seems like an Unreal 5 tech demo and the composition is often just perfect. That doesn’t mean the whole game looks superb. Characters also look great and their animations are good, but like some wrote facial animations can be a bit stiff in extremely emotional situations, most of the times I found them really good enough though.
    The voice acting is great, especially Amicia, and it’s true that Hugo’s voice can get annoying, but he is a young kid and that’s just quite authentic. An underlying issue makes this just more of a problem than it should be: The constant topic between Amicia and Hugo is the same and they go over and over and over it. If this was a 2 hour movie, it would have been fine, but 10-12 hours of the game is simply too long to let the characters exchange the same fears and topics again and again. At some point even a NPC tells them to shut up... so the writers were quite aware. Sadly, they also changed to British accents, which takes away some part of authenticity.
    Sound and music are well done and support the medieval theme and mood greatly.
    I would say that the story is presented well and quite emotionally touching, but definitely not a great one (will get to that later in detail). Dialogues are written in a simple way, which is often alright, but sometimes certain word uses gets repetitive and there is definitely squandered potential.
    And the gameplay? Well, you can craft now more useful ammo types to either control the rats or the lights (on/off). The AI and the sneaking part remains mostly the same, its formula is applied in different ways, but never gets you really excited. Why is there never an urgency through time pressure, for example? Or why do the soldiers never actively burn the fields? They could have done much to break up the stale formula of the stealth gameplay.
    The skill system has a balancing issue at least with the upgraded crossbow, which will give you back all your bolts back from corpses and then leads to just shooting everyone dead without any hassle. Also, they had the idea to connect it to the story and have people tell you constantly, that you should control yourself and so on. Of course, the writing team wanted to avoid the same problem as in Tomb Raider (2013): A young woman becomes a mass murdering machine, but is actually a quite nice and normal person.     The riddles are another part of the gameplay and I did like one or two, most of them were more of the same from Plague Tale part one and some were really a drag (the four cranes!). Unlike others, I didn’t fear the rats (anymore) and I was tired of getting from light to light in some artificial way.
    Sorry, but after that long time with the rats Amicia didn’t think to purchase a simple steel torch??? Or just keep the ones along the way? With that tool they would have walked through the whole game without a hassle. I know, it’s just a game, games are gamey, but this shows where games need to improve.
    And then there is the option to control the rats through Hugo, which I thought would be the new selling point of this part, but no. You can use it kinda 1-2 times and it’s also not that fun actually.
    And the fact that even in fights you hold hands with Hugo is clumsy from a movement perspective and in reality you wouldn’t do that, especially if you want to protect the child...
    The story: Unlike the first part, Plague Tale: Requiem is about superlatives. A bigger part of the game is a constant chase which almost feels like a rollercoaster ride, meaning it doesn’t care how much sense it all makes and focuses more on the spectacle.
    The “treasure hunt” for the truth about the macula is even for Indiana Jones standards illogical and the conclusions about the clues from Amicia more than far-fetched. Also, the underground architecture is ludicrous. Of course it’s impressive and a wow-moment when you look at it, but for me it’s just a step too far and it breaks the immersion a bit. Same goes for the rat chase sequences, which are so obviously fake.
    Personally, I am fine with the ending and it actually takes away some frustration from the fact that you actually did not find a cure. It's just a simple story about people fighting the inevitable.    … Expand

But it still is an excellent game and I strongly recommend it for players that like a game with a good story and some really impressive visuals.

    Simply an incredible experience!

    While the first was great on its own, Requiem has highly raised the quality of visuals and added smoother gameplay choices. The story is gripping at moments, but the amount of extreme rat "popcorn" tech is simply mind-blowing!

Despite the fact that it was randomly crashing almost every hour, let the developers have my big-big thanks for such experience. It Is so hard to find nowadays.     very poorly optimized game how this got released in this state i don't know, what i do know is this game is only for those with a 4090, without Frame generation you don't have a chance to run this game smoothly,  even with my 3080ti i my gpu struggles to hold 60fps constantly dropping frames, those with older GPU have no chance. I will never buy from this developer ever again.

    Если разработчики так сильно хотят денег за эту игру, то единственное желание это дать их игре место на торрентах, дабы они не заработали ни копейки и наконец-то поняли, что быть заднеприводным уродом это не значит что все покупающие вашу игру такие же.
    Звук который заикается и глючит каждый раз когда на экране появляются хвалёные толпы крыс. А иногда звук глючит и просто так. Качество текстур оставляет желать лучшего. Отсутствие FSR (хотя бы версию 1.0 дали бы, но нет). Даже на высоком уровне графики текстуры превращаются в мыло.
    Стелс миссии. Ммм, просто блаженство. Ты можешь бежать через всю локацию с Гуго и никто тебя не убьёт, особенно если проигрывается анимация открывания дверей.
    Растягивание сюжета, сотнями разговоров и медленной ходьбы, надоедают уже через 15-20 минут.
    Вначале игры говорится о том что надо бежать, Гуго плохо и его надо лечить, но нет "А пройдёмся ка мы по полю и пособираем перья, а?"
    Отвратительное построение сюжетной линии лишь усугубляет и без того шаткое положение игры, из-за отвратительной графики и отсутствия оптимизации.

    В заключении хочу сказать лишь одно. Когда критикам заносят чемодан с деньгами и они пишут хорошие отзывы, это не гарантирует что игра классная.    … Expand

The story is hard to predict and perhaps only children can appreciate it. The game does not run at 60 FPS even on PS5, and even on a powerful PC it cannot maintain this value.

    A grand tragedy needs to have highs to add impact to the lows. There are no highs here. It's just bad piled on bad piled on bad. Every turn    I must be the only person that didn't really care for this game much. The mechanics are fine if clunky sometimes but the narrative just turned me off horribly. Games like this are critical to the drive of the story and that's where my problems lie.

By the end I really didn't care about the characters anymore and just wanted it over with. That's the last thing you want your player to feel in a story driven game. The ending was pure trash but expected after the depressing slog I'd gone through for 15+ hours so it had zero effect on my heart strings.

    I get what they were attempting to do but it would have been far more impactful if they would add some glimmer of hope instead of just phoning it in with dialog saying "just this one more thing and we'll be in the clear" over and over again.     Game was advertised with ray tracing, but this is NOT available at launch, even weeks later nothing has happened. The developer doesn't say anything about it! That's a disappointment at best, misleading advertising at worst.

    A beautiful game, I have an RX 6700 XT (which is below recommended) I have a stable 60 fps (even with vsync on) gameplay on ultra settings preset. Graphics are incredible. Definitely the best game I've played since Cyberpunk 2077!

    Clearly weaker than the first game. It's definitely more of eye candy, it is gorgeous. And the story serves masterful emotional cresedo, although i first entry was solid as well. But the gameplay is what kills it, it's soooo bad. So frustrating. It dragged the whole experience down

    Such an Amazing Game trust me If you play this game it gives you the FEELS of your Life, the story is amazing and the Characters too but Be warned this will be a Roller coaster of Feelings that some are not prepared for.

    Great story, amazing visuals that'll make your jaw drop while looking at the scenery in awe. Truly beautiful looking game. Oh and the rats, there are millions now, much more than ever before.

    I've seen a lot of complaining about this game's poor technical performance, but I've found that to be overshadowed by the miserable gameplay. They've somehow managed to expand on everything I disliked about the first game. Roughly 50% of the game is just a walking simulator. Most of the time the "run" button is disabled, to really drag these scenes out. Most of the time the "run" button is disabled, to really drag these scenes out. The combat is some of the most awkward I've ever seen in a video game. Enemies will knock Amicia out, then stand there for a moment while she gets up to retaliate. Sometimes Amicia will die in a fire, even though the fire isn't even touching her, which looks very silly. The other gameplay element is the "puzzles", which usually amounts to scrubbing the environment for the one specific thing you're supposed to shoot with your sling. The only parts of the game I found enjoyable are the "stealth" scenes, in which you have to sneak around and figure out how to fight or disable the guards. But these scenes are rare. Most of the time, you're either in Walking Simulator, Obnoxious Forced Combat or Inane Puzzle mode. Everything is so scripted; you can't jump over a ledge or through a window unless it's one of the Special Windows that are scripted for it. There are invisible walls everywhere, so you're never sure where you're allowed to progress until you bump into it. Not that it matters as the game is totally linear anyway. The story makes no sense as a follow up to A Plague Tale Innocence. It seems to just retcon much of what happened in that game, and quickly becomes grating and tedious, with Amicia almost constantly yelling about how she has to save Hugo, etc. The only reason to play this game is for the graphics, which are truly beautiful, except for the face animations. Naturally the game insists on zooming in up close on their faces, so you can see how bad it looks.

    Overall, not recommended. If you're interested in the game, just watch someone else play it on YouTube.    … Expand

    I've played and finished A Plague Tale: Innocence about 2 years ago and loved it, though it was a bit basic in the combat area. I've heard that A Plague Tale: Requiem was much better, that the combat was better, that it improved a lot of things from Innocence, but oh boy, that is just not true.     I've never hated, and quiet LITERALLY got a headache from a character, more than I hate Hugo, he will not shut his mouth, and will repeat the same stupid lines whenever we jump over an obstacle or climb a ladder.

    The game will force you to walk, for HOURS, in areas where you can and should be able to run.

    The combat is either 100% stealth, or run away from enemies like a headless chicken, no middle ground. Once you're found, and stealth is out of the way, it's really, really bad.

    Story goes on and on and on, barely anything worth your while.

    You barely know where to look for the hidden stuff, and you might as well just go through that crack on the wall or jump down a small ledge, only to not being able to go back and pick up the items you were looking for. No way back.

    Again, the charactors, and not only Hugo, are babbling and talking so damn much, so many stupid sentences repeated over and over.

    Starting 10 hours are somewhat fun and refreshing, to get new abilites, to uncover some of the story, but the rest 10-12 hours or so are straight up bad, boring, and felt like a drag.

    I can't recommend this game to almost anyone, unless you really love visual novels or love walking simulators, because that while there is a lot of combat and stealth in this game, you will be walking and talking to the boring NPCs for most of the game.

    I loved the first one, didn't enjoy as much the second one. it's good enough tho, i had fun, the story is quite beautiful IMO, but the "fighting system didn't improved a lot, and that can get really frustrating at some points

    It is really good game. If you like 1st one, you will love it. More gameplay mechanics and how "kill" soldiers ,sometimes 3rd member of your group, better story, beatiful graphic. What else do you need:)

    Seems as though this is another one of those polarizing games, but I find it hard to believe anyone could genuinely think this was a flawless, 10/10 experience.

    The level design is aesthetically great, but your journey through them is extremely linear.     This for me quickly went from endearing to irritating, sometimes less is absolutely more. Some of the puzzles had me a little stumped.

    Essentially as a game, it doesn't offer all that much gameplay and as a movie it tries to get far too much content out of such little plot leaving characters yammering on like a drunk uncle.    … Expand

Sadly much of the stealth/puzzle gameplay becomes repetitive over longer sessions of play and this is where the game feels weakest. Never quite leaning fully into stealth or action it sort of teeters on the edge of both before allowing the player to fully go all out action if they choose to. Some ofA technical tour deforce bolstered by a talented English voice cast and decent screenplay. Sadly much of the stealth/puzzle gameplay becomes repetitive over longer sessions of play and this is where the game feels weakest.     Great follow-up. It's another story about the tragic fate of two siblings. It doesn't bring anything groundbreakingly new, but it improves on what worked and surprised in the first volume, and because of that, it still entertains. [Issue#323]

    Requiem is trying its best to make everything even more beautiful, impressive and varied, yet it is still just a decent sequel to a good game. The overall impression is let down by the muddled third act, rudimentary stealth mechanics and forced combat sequences.

    A Plague Tale: Requiem is a pitch-black sequel that makes sure to remind you of that suffocating feeling at every chance, with scenes of hopelessness, the stench of putrefaction and a deluge of filthy rodents. It's not pleasant, but is should be lauded nonetheless.
