It’s a solid traditional point&click adventure game with a convincing presentation especially in terms of the time period of the golden twenties and historical correctness. Some of the puzzles are very creative but mostly way to easy. A Golden Wake is fun to play, but can not really compete with other titles from Wadjet Eye Games like Resonance or Gemini Rue.

With period-authentic aesthetics and sharp writing, this point and click will keep you enthralled from beginning to end – and maybe teach you a thing or two about history along the way.

Sadly, more seasoned adventure fans looking for a new challenge will not find it here, and are instead likely to be frustrated by the patchy attempts at diversifying the gameplay.

You shouldn't miss it if you really love the genre, but it's really only for the hardcore fans.

This is not a bad game. It's just that it certainly cannot rise up to the expectations created by former titles released by Wadjet Eye Games, such as Gemini Rue, Resonance and Primordia. Nevertheless, a nice enough commercial debut for Grundislav Games and Francisco Gonzalez.

A really decent point’n’click game, but I would appreciate higher difficulty level and more inventive mini-games. [01/2015, p.83]

A Golden Wake is an adventure that cannot fully leave the sign; the gameplay offered by Grundislav Games, in fact, stands at a difficulty level too low to pose a real challenge.

If you take "A Golden Wake" as an excursion into the past and as a way to gain some historical knowledge easily – you'll be surprised. Just don't expect any real challenge. [Issue#247]

Even though this game does not offer challenging puzzles, A Golden Wake offers a unique look on a setting that has never been set before. The story and the historical characters make this with jazz infested point-and-click adventure pretty interesting anyway.

It's just... not that fun to be a real estate agent.
Then after a while it picks up. Sure, the puzzles all remain way too easy but the "seller intuition" is a pretty nice mechanic that sadly doesn't get used as much as it should have. The years-spanning story becomes quite interesting and you get to care for the characters and what becomes of them. Especially considering that most of them are historical figures and the plot is based on real facts. And this is the game's strong side: it's historically interesting (every now and then I went to google things I saw in the game) with a great and underused setting. And the music is pretty good.
So... in the end, I had fun and learned something too. Definitely a good adventure, but could have been so much more and it's not on par with the other Wadjet games
