Oct 20, 2014A Golden Wake interprets a rich history in its chapters and paints an image of the best and worst of the 1920s, and while its overly-easy puzzles didn't really add to the story, I felt a stronger appreciation for that era after playing through it.
-
Oct 23, 2014I had a great time with A Golden Wake and I think anyone who can appreciate an old school point-and-click adventure will too.
-
Oct 29, 2014A traditional adventure game that is pretending nothing while combining an interesting plot with a unique audiovisual concept perfectly. Its retro approach is (in a good way) visible almost everywhere, and even despite its obvious but deliberate old-fashionedness, there is almost nothing to criticize.
-
Oct 10, 2014Emotionally resonant and carefully crafted, A Golden Wake mostly succeeds in living up to its ambitious premise and ultimately leaves a memorable impression.
-
Dec 15, 2014The scenario feels fresh, the dialogue puzzles are the highlight of this adventure, that overall is not challenging enough.
-
Oct 13, 2014A Golden Wake is very sober, very grand, but it has a lot of pitfalls, both when it comes to actual gameplay mechanics and to its story, which has a couple of misses. But overall, it offers a pleasurable and, most importantly, memorable experience, with some pretty sharp and witty writing, and a flavorful depiction of a fascinating era.

PC GamesOct 9, 2014It’s a solid traditional point&click adventure game with a convincing presentation especially in terms of the time period of the golden twenties and historical correctness. Some of the puzzles are very creative but mostly way to easy. A Golden Wake is fun to play, but can not really compete with other titles from Wadjet Eye Games like Resonance or Gemini Rue.
-
Oct 9, 2014With period-authentic aesthetics and sharp writing, this point and click will keep you enthralled from beginning to end – and maybe teach you a thing or two about history along the way.
-
Oct 21, 2014Sadly, more seasoned adventure fans looking for a new challenge will not find it here, and are instead likely to be frustrated by the patchy attempts at diversifying the gameplay.
-
Oct 9, 2014You shouldn't miss it if you really love the genre, but it's really only for the hardcore fans.
-
Oct 9, 2014This is not a bad game. It's just that it certainly cannot rise up to the expectations created by former titles released by Wadjet Eye Games, such as Gemini Rue, Resonance and Primordia. Nevertheless, a nice enough commercial debut for Grundislav Games and Francisco Gonzalez.
-
CD-ActionFeb 7, 2015A really decent point’n’click game, but I would appreciate higher difficulty level and more inventive mini-games. [01/2015, p.83]
-
Oct 18, 2014A Golden Wake is an adventure that cannot fully leave the sign; the gameplay offered by Grundislav Games, in fact, stands at a difficulty level too low to pose a real challenge.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Dec 3, 2014If you take "A Golden Wake" as an excursion into the past and as a way to gain some historical knowledge easily – you'll be surprised. Just don't expect any real challenge. [Issue#247]
-
Nov 30, 2014Even though this game does not offer challenging puzzles, A Golden Wake offers a unique look on a setting that has never been set before. The story and the historical characters make this with jazz infested point-and-click adventure pretty interesting anyway.
-
PC GamerNov 10, 2014It just doesn't measure up to the imagination and potential of the setting, and you feel like little more than a jumped=up errand boy. [Holiday 2014, p.66]
-
Nov 27, 2014The difference between playing A Golden Wake and browsing through a screenshots gallery is that screenshots scroll faster.
