So I've had the game for a few weeks now and I love it. It's something between Minecraft & State of Decay or DayZ. The crafting is becoming better with every update. World generation is not added but planned.

The first thing everyone notices about this game is the price. But what is early access?

Early Access is commonly accepted to mean you are paying the developers and funding the game development. You are not "buying" the game but rather helping to further the development and help pay bills.

So is the price something that should cause you to forget this game?

Answer: Yes & No. It depends how you think about Early Access. With the description above, I see no room for complaints, you are supporting development with your wallet. As a reward you get the game free when it is released. Since you also get the game early, as in right away, you also can help bug test and report issues to the developers.

So yes, the money is a high price to pay. Was it worth it? Yes. I would buy a second, third or fourth copy if I had friends/family interested in playing.

Will this be the next Minecraft craze? It could be, but the price holds it back, the multiplayer in general is a disaster unless you play with friends only.

Multiplayer is what Minecraft multiplayer would have been if there were not plugins.

Now, the building in this game can be hard, it is what I had always hoped for in other crafting/building games. The blocks all have physics, which means buildings can fall and crush your face. But as in real life, if you provide the proper supports you wont have a problem.

The mining in this game leaves much to desire, it's rather slow, and is based on Stamina & Tool damage points, which drain from every hit. Water refills stamina but your tools will require repairing or replacing.

The good point with mining though, there are not caves to search, you just start digging down and you will start finding ores. Which is great, it's not realistic in anyway but is a improvement over Minecraft's mining in a lot of ways, (which was not realistic either.)

Overall you have both Multiplayer and Single-player and both are great in there own ways.

You have many options when starting a game and they can be changed at anytime before starting one of your saves.

If you don't want to play with giant wasps and hordes of zombies tearing through your walls ready to eat you, you don't have too.

Play in a war torn landscape as the soul survival or join MP and find other survivors and rebuild civilization.

Build a giant bunker underground or a giant castle. Build a wall with many traps and defenses surrounding a small town and build a community. It's all up to you and as any role-playing game with unlimited replay-ability it is up to you to find the fun. It's yours for the taking.

I for one hope to see you soon.

    Cheers,
    Tobias

Hostiles teleport from lag (While playing offline D:) and zombie dogs begin to flying around you in a dizzying orbit when they reach you and become unkillable. The crafting system is wonky, putting in a design MIGHT cause the game to recognize it. Put it in many times, and it might only work once. And the building mechanic makes no sense.

It's painful to see a game with so much potential and promise fail on this scale, leaving you feeling robbed and cheated.

The landscape map is different and divided into areas, from the green forest to the ugly blown out nuclear wastes. The zombies are a very aggravating set up. They are very slow in the day, but at night they become the dumb super zombie that runs and destroys. It's a game that each update takes one step forward but three steps back. Now we have flying zombies, dogs, giant bees, fat zombies that have been ripped off time and time again since the Killing Floor mod that vomit. I would recommend not touching this with a 10 foot pole but I would however recommend following its status and looking at gameplay videos. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. as this game is still (over 4 years now?) in early access on steam, and that is where I purchased the game years ago. the final release might change as the console ports they worked on and finished (?) were poorly received, that does not bode well for this version on PC. Upon release this review may change to reflect it.

I have played this game since its early days. I am a big fan of survival/zombie/horror type games, especially the ones where you can work together with others to build a mutual defense, or wage a precarious war between tribes as you worry about expending too many resources to defend from the next zombie attack.

7 Days to die brings the elements of building a base with defenses and traps, crafting, and survival sandbox together. And in earlier builds of the game this was supreme. The game was as fun as it was compelling that you had to defend against monsters. The zombies are grotesque and you view a charred wasteland, with the destroyed terrain and homes telling a story all their own. loot-able containers re-spawn - should you be brave enough to venture out and capture the loot again. Each in game day that passes brings more danger and increased difficulty. Every 7th day you are hit with a huge wave of zombies which are sent by the game in your general direction.

The player gets hit with the dilemma... do i fight? do i hide? how do i escape? And how people choose to get around those dilemmas is interesting to see. And honestly, the game was running so smoothly 3 years ago that I was expecting it to launch. I guess 'don't fix what isn't broken' didn't apply to this developer.

Unfortunately, a lot of the more fun elements that were previously included have since been removed from the game. And negative elements, the most frustrating to me being an unblockable blanket zombie stun chance, despite armor or other countermeasures, have been added.

There are bugs in the game now, which never existed in the first builds I played; also graphical glitches that never used to exist. performance-wise the game seems to choke on its own data clusters, and struggles to load itself properly, various zombie and zombie dog animations and AI pathing errors have not been dealt with despite them existing since day one.. I could go on for an hour about how their early alpha versions were nearly perfect, and if they had added their crafting quality expansions on top of the previous builds I would have voted this game a 10/10.

Instead, the game took a horrible turn. I have seen other developers do the same. The game starts out awesome, but before release it just drops off the edge from 'outstanding' to 'mediocre'.

There's fun to be had here. But bear in mind I have had this game for longer than most of you, and found it more fun, more stable, and more smooth years ago!! it was ready for launch, not joking. Multiplayer servers were amazing with no crashes and disconnects, and very smooth game play.

I feel that a player needs to respect themselves a bit more, and not settle for a second rate zombie game that now feels dated, and less fun than it was before, for almost three times (nearly four!) the cost that I paid for it! I can't recommend it - the developer had something so amazing early on that, compared to now? It just doesn't compare.

I really, really liked this game, and I feel unhappy that future players won't get to play that masterpiece I played, and are now being charged triple for a lesser experience. It's just unbelievable.

I can't even sit on the awesome couches in my zombie-proof pad. That would really be an excellent reward - being able to interact 100% more with the world. Let me sit on my furniture, stream videos through my TV, actually SLEEP in my bed (does anyone else feel like this is 7 Days of Insomnia?). My character NEVER sleeps and that starts to mess with my non-virtual head after a while. :) Let me climb those trees and towers. Let them fall to the ground like actually trees and towers instead of bouncy Minecraft objects. Let me demolish whole building with TNT, and give me more of those buildings (bigger and with more variety) - exploring the city is one of the best and nerve-wrackingest aspects of the game. Give me more, less predictable, things to find there. Give me multiple spawn point options (bed or sleeping bag). I could go on (additional bag space?), but there are thousands of possibilities that would further separate this from Minecraft, bring it further into an RPG and still be more about building, crafting and exploring. This game has tons of potential and I fully expect to be back to increase my score as new Alpha releases come out. Expand

    Lot’s of zombies.
Mary ways you can build your character to be what you want them to be in this apocalyptic type game.
Because fun pimps made this game in such a way that people could make mods (free) for it, I do not think this game will ever die because there is a large community of people that make create their own version with special features some can even change the game so much that it feels like your not even playing 7 days to die.

As for Young Kids: This game has a lot of jump scare for new players. We have even seen some more advanced players scream like little girls at times.

12 and Under I would say a hard no.
13+ I would say if dad or mom played with them.

That being said. I love this game.

The developers are now more focused on body odor and bathing mechanics, and making sure the female characters look sexy in their g-string underwear when they're "disrobed". Seriously?!? They'd rather offend half the gaming community instead of adding real stuff to do? I don't care if they make their models totally nude, but the way they are oversexualizing the female models (nurse, cheerleader, "lady", and now the main avatars) is disturbing and doesn't fit the game at all.

They're maybe taking the "Pimps" part of their name too seriously...

I'd give this game a 2/10, because there is some fun gameplay for a few hours. Catch it on a bundle or deep sale, but don't expect much. Space Engineers is way more bang for your sandbox survival buck.

Having played several survival horror games such as DAYZ, dead island, Left4Dead and alike, I can say that 7DTD has great potential, but in its current form, it simply isn’t there.

This is meant to be a multiplayer survival zombie-horror game set in a post-apocalyptic world the environment of which is for the most part, entirely destructible. My criticisms are derived from this marketing and description of this game.

    Negative

As you walk around this empty world, you see massive castles that are indestructible, lavish houses and gardens that are all well stocked with munitions, supplies and raw materials absent zombies. It would seem that this environment is thriving! Far from the premise of a desperate zombie infested post-apocalyptic world. The fact that such fine establishments are actually standing is a testament to the false advertising of this title. You might say, well Odin, this is early access, nothing is perfect. This may be right, however, I’ve researched previous versions and I can tell you, the devs have deliberately opted for this game design choice. This can be demonstrated in contrast to previous versions of 7DTD as the environments were far more destructible and inundated with zombies, this added to the intensity of the integral premise of the game’s theme. Now they’ve released what is known as a land claim protection system which essentially involves a key stone offering a radius of significant protection to your own creations (I noted this can be switched off at the server side, but good luck finding a reliable one who does with decent ping and player base. And good luck to you if you create your own server with zero players). As you can see, the changes to the game’s theme are here to stay and likely to evolve in the form of more complex crafting and building systems.

The present version of this release suffers from an absence of players, I note based on server availability a capacity of players no higher than 50 yet only being populated with 1 player. I’m told some servers offer capacity of 128 however this has not shown up in server availability. Games like these necessitate a large player base to intensify the environment; this is something that DAYZ does very well. Unfortunately, it seems the highest number of players I’ve seen so far have been around 20 most of which are kiddie gamers obsessed with building Minecraft like creations and servers catering to this type of play by placing even more stringent restrictions on zombies by limiting their numbers to 60 or less in the entire world.

    Positive

7DTD has an excellent control system, far better than the likes of DAYZ. Moving around and running through the environment feels tight and very smooth.

The engine whilst perhaps not as pretty as others is very stable and well suited to this genre something that DAYZ after all their development work have failed to achieve. I note as 7DTD progresses, the visuals are getting better and better.

    Overall

7DTD fails to align with its description as a multiplayer survival zombie-horror game set in a post-apocalyptic world with destructive environments. It is perhaps an advanced Minecraft clone masquerading as something more whilst trying to appeal to the widest audience as possible. As long as you understand this feel free to buy in, I was not privy to this information and had I known, I would have strongly reconsidered a purchase.

As time goes on, the updates take longer and longer to come out. Even after NINE MONTHS the content that is released is, without fail, broken and glitchy.

The scary part is how blindly people support such shabby work. This quality work would not be acceptable in any other scenario. If a doctor botched every procedure he performed or a contractor built a house but left massive holes in the roof and an uneven foundation, they would be out of work in a week. Some how early access (ea) has become the end-all excuse for developers to simply be bad at their jobs. Granted, this is not the case for all games being developed in ea, but the common excuses used for this game's sub-par content, such as, "it's a small team" have been over used. After selling well over a million copies of this game, perhaps the devs need to consider bringing in some actual skill to their team before they drop the ball completely.

Now in the current version you cant work with many of the materials that you could before and they have implemented a new skill system that is cumbersome and utterly confusing. Oh just another note the current version is bugged and causes your character to die of heat exhaustion, and they still haven't fixed the Minibike problems. In summation it seems that Fun Pimps are more interested in adding superfluous content, removing the versatility of the variety of building materials then fixing bugs that they have had since more then 5 major revisions ago. I would not recommend this game . Not so much because of the game its self but because the developers and their lack of direction and poor choices of designing a game that was completely versatile and interesting and then taking it in completely the wrong direction, not to mention their lack of attention to the little detail of fixing whats broken before adding more broken content. It's definitely not worth $35 right now, and probably not ever. It is extremely interesting and the multiplayer aspect is entertaining, but a fair price is far from the wallet-sucker it is now.

I'm a selective gamer; rare games that attract me thought Alpha "7 days to die" game glowed me for hours to my Laptop without feeling that I'm wasting my time as it gives somehow educational in a way; like how to build a structure while putting building integrity in mind (that's somehow like an engineer do in real life).

I would give developers 10/10 if not for the new Alpha 9.1 has some back-steps than in Alpha 8.7

My feedback about Alpha 9.1 as follow till now:
    - Old "Compass/mini Map/Status" view was a lot more effective & efficient than in Alpha 9.1 update view ... that became surprisingly & annoyingly hidden behind belt (Plus can't see Zombies around me in mini map).
    - Backpack got smaller
    - Items got lost sometimes in-game, when reloading game & ammo consumes more than normal for example: one crossbow shot sometimes consumes 2 crossbow bolts.
    - Game still lagging while near zombies specially at night ( not the stun ).
    - While digging underground; graphic fails & find myself on surface or in endless space all around.
    - TNT crafting become very expensive.

*** Game needs the Dynamic Story Generation ASAP as it feels too lonely & boring without companions & NPCs in Single player

All that & still I enjoy & continue playing it while waiting for better updates & hopefully the fully release.

Magnificent work developers & God bless you all.

The combat is the sluggish and all around horrible. You swing something and the zombie, moves closer and hits you, meaning you can't actually win combat without using the garbage bow or guns, which takes forever to get which I didn't even know was actually in the game since the game's progress moves at a crawl.

The game is horribly optimized. I've only played for 6 hours and it crashed over 5 times. My items and even some stuff i built just straight up disappear.

Multiplayer is unplayable. I don't have the greatest internet, but I get like 100 ping on a good game, this I get 900 or something like that when I try to play on a friend's server.

I guess I can see the appeal if you have the patient of a saint and can stand the first 3 hours that move at a crawl and you can play and actual video game rather than the unfinished trash that is the first hours of this game, since the people who made this game have no idea how to actually make a video game and probably spend most of the money they get from this game on hookers and cocaine.

Yes, it still needs a lot of work, such as the AI (zombies). The spawn of the zombies can become easily frustrating as a horde can just spawn right in front of you or you get the odd few zombies that spawn in your base. It really is a remarkable game! I would seriously recommend this game to anyone who likes "Survival/craft/zombies". Many people say it reminds them of minecraft, I can see where they are coming from yes, but... Second, slow updates. There are so many small problems with the game that the developers seem to be unable to address in a reasonable amount of time and you encounter them on a regular basis during game-play. After a few hours of game-play they can become an exercise in frustration.

Currently I use the Alpha 16.4 version on my P.C. and the 1.0.18.0 version on my Xbox One. Whilst the game play is some of the most complex and engaging I've ever used, after a few days (in the game, of course), it starts to get a bit boring and repetitive. Whilst it may not have the best graphics, I would've been willing to look past that if they kept some of the mechanics from the earlier versions. For example, in the current Xbox One version I own, one of the mechanics I liked was the ability to place arrow slits on flat on the ground, so that when the bottom of my base is overrun during Horde Nights, I could easily walk over the slits above the first floor and rain arrows and bullets down onto the zombies below. However, with the recently released Alpha 16.4 on the PC, you are unable to do that, which is a huge disappointment on the developers part. Also, one of the elements I loved from the earlier versions was the ability to get better versions of weapons by crafting multiple versions of them (e.g. in the Xbox version, each time I made a new stone axe, it leveled up gradually (even though it starts at level 1)), however with the 16.4 release, they did away with this and had the items start at level 25, and make you spend skill points to get to level 50, 100 and so on, which ruined a bit of the game play that I so enjoyed. However, some of the improvements on the earlier versions was the addition of items such as the electric fences and blade traps, so the improvements aren't a total loss. When the completed version arrives (hopefully within the next year or so), I hope that they'll combine all of the best parts of each version together (and add a story hopefully). However, it looks as though it might be overshadowed by Overkill's Walking Dead survival game set to be released in 2018, so it is unfortunate that it's taken a long time to get completed, because then it would've had an epic release.

This game may not be everyone's cup of tea. If you need good graphics to enjoy game, then this one (at least for now) is not for you. Graphically and visually, the game is basic and spartan. However, the mechanics of the game is what makes this game fun and shine for me.

I agree with many of the other reviews that this game is somewhat like State of Decay with a better crafting/survival mechanic or a better-looking FPS Minecraft. This is not Dead Rising - you won't be killing hordes of zombies solo. On the normal to harder difficulty modes, the zombies are deadly and more often than not running is the better option.

On the most basic level and on starting, it is all about survival. You need water and you will need food. You need gather/hunt water/food and then materials to make a fire and boil the water and cook food. Don't do it and you get food poisoning/dysentery - which gives you moderate to severe penalties which increase over time and may kill you if left untreated long enough (for which you need to find medicine or make herbal remedies).

All you need to do is survive. Anything beyond that is up to you. It is possible to do nothing but just hunt and look for water everyday. But the game offers a lot more than just survival. After getting the basic survival done, it's up to you where you want to take your game. A nomadic scavenger, a homesteading farmer/hunter, a defensive specialist holed up in your ever-improving fortress/bunker, an architect/landscaper - all up to you.

Scavenging. Resources are plentiful in the game but you have to find them. Then you have to craft these raw resources into tools or secondary resources for crafting. This combines the thrill of treasure-hunting with the real need to find basic necessities. You can find canned food or spoilt food but more likely than not will need to hunt game for fresh meat (which if carried on your person will attract every nearby zombie). You can also farm and grow vegetables and plants for a more dependable food source. Eating and drinking well contribute to your overall wellness which gives you boosts and bonuses to your health/stamina - eating/drinking poorly will do the opposite. You will eventually need to start mining for ores (iron/lead, coal, etc.) which gives you the raw resources to craft advanced items such as guns and gun powder.

Crafting in this game can be fun and some what intuitive. Some recipes you know from the start, some you have to find (or learn from books you find). A stick, some plant fibres and a sharpened rock will give you an axe. That axe will help you cut down a tree for logs which you can use to make building materials or burn in the fire. Logs can be crafted into planks which can be crafted into boxes or building frames. A crossbow is an early must for hunting - sticks and plant fibres do very nicely. Sticks, sharpened rocks and feathers make bolts. There are many recipes and many ingenious uses to your by-products.

Forting up is essential. When night comes, the slow lumbering zombies that you could easily outrun or take out one by one become feral - they now run, horde/zerg up and will generally annihilate you in the dark. If you're out in the open at night, you are the walking dead. Find a house and turn it into a fort. Dig into the ground for an underground bunker. The horde can easily take out a structure, they can mindless zerg through a mountain or a hill. They destroy everything in their path. Dig ditches lined with sharpened stakes, make walls, tunnel deep down into the earth and into bedrock. Do what you have to to survive.

Environment. Almost every 'block' or structure in the game world can be destroyed. There is also a basic physics of sort - i.e. every thing has mass and structures can only take up to a certain load. Too much and everything comes crashing down. Insufficient support (or if key foundations get destroyed by zombies) and your fort/roof could come crashing down on you. Mining for ores? - Mine too deep without providing enough support and it will cave in either injuring or killing you.

The musical score and the in-game ambience music/sounds are simple but convey mood effectively.

A lot of game play can also be moded for personal tastes. Difficulty modes, resource respawn timer, zombie respawn timer, private or public games, co-op or pvp.

What this game offers is a lot of possibilities. And I find it pretty damn good fun. Highly recommended for those who enjoy the survival/crafting/zombie type genres.

It bills itself as zombie survival but zombies are perhaps the least threatening thing in the game. It bills itself as survival in general but the actual means of survival are contrived, unintuitive and nonsensical, for example requiring you to possess glass bottles or tin cans to hydrate yourself properly, or needing a cast iron pot to cook food. It bills itself as multiplayer but the community is peopled with loners that you will only rarely see on public servers. The game claims to be many things but will never be good at any of them. Read the 5 most helpful reviews. They are all negative. As of the end of 2018, they all also happen to be true, even the ones from 2015. The developers like to brag about their 5+ million copies sold. That's $100 million, of which the developers saw at least 25%, or $25 million. The company has 14 employees. That means over the past 5 years, the Fun Pimps were paid an average of $356,000 per year to license Unity - a free engine - fill it with prefab assets, basically kick the can making a poor man's Minecraft, and they still insult their customers. I almost want you to see just how ridiculous this is for yourself, but that would require you buying the game and supporting them and you should not do that. They are all millionaires. Expand

I play the game since Alpha 5 via Steam. I also played Minecraft a lot before. No on alpha status 8.8 the game become more and more what the developers had promised. A bit of RPG, survival, crafting, tower defence makes a very interesting mixture of genres in one game. The developers publish a update every month. The fastest programmer team i ever seen on kickstarter.

The game is almost too good to be true, especially for an alpha. Very rarely would I rate a game with a "10" but this one deserves it. I rarely pay money for games much less for alphas. First of all, it is the first alpha that actually is worth my 22$ (its current lowered price). With ~400 in game hours already, if this doesn't deserve it, I don't know what is.

The game is unexpectedly entertaining, having a "walking dead" feel unlike every other game in its genre (I have played them all) and gameplay customization options for virtually anything in the game. Alpha 9 has just been released and the random world generation is outstanding. Already spent ~400 hours in it, on single and multiplayer and I haven't gotten even bored of it, thing which is phenomenal.

Being an alpha, some sections of the game are not still polished. But considering its development team are one of the most passionate teams I've ever seen and the fastest to update the game with new features and fix issues, I can already envision the result. And I can't wait for it!

Feels like 7 years to die
7 Days to die is a Minecraft style survival horror game,
as you use tools, craft items and slay zombies your skills and character levels up making your survival chances in this survival horror game even that much greater...
But unfortunately 7 Days to die puts more emphasis on survival than it does the horror, or the game…
This game moves at the pace of a slug…
What makes Minecraft so great is that while it is also a survival game about crafting and surviving from random attacks... it moves at a fairly quick pace…
You can build a shovel and dig a temporary shelter with sufficient lighting before the sun falls on your initial spawn…
Minecraft also makes essentials like a forge or torches very accessible from the jump….
7 Days to die goes against all of this…
For starters... This is no Minecraft other than the basic idea of gather materials, craft with those materials, and try not to die while you do this...
But building, crafting, combat, and scavenging all suffer due to the pacing this game has…
You collect items and build at a crawl…
you can definitely make a shovel, and axe fairly quickly as there are basic crafting materials like rocks and trees everywhere…
but once you go to dig a shelter you’ll quickly realize building in this world is going to be a chore..
You can’t swiftly build an underground shelter to revisit after a day of hunting and looking for supplies to slowly build a thriving chunk of land…
It’s going to take days upon days... youre better off finding a cabin around essential recourses and rebuilding…
Which honestly takes away the joy of owning the procedurally generated or hand crafted land you spawn into…
There’s no fun in upgrading something already built…
but thanks to how long it takes to destroy a block of dirt even with the hardness level turned down... you have no other choice….
You can of course make a building out of wood, as wood collecting is fairly easy… but with how often your tools will break, wood is a valuable recourse that you might as well collect to again just rebuild an already built home…
the hunger and thirst system in this game also hinders creativity as you never feel like you have time to really do anything other than find drinks and food…
During my time playing I found a corn field behind a cabin for food…
But I had no water source….
To make drinks I needed glass jars that I for the life of me couldn’t find…
luckily these glass jars can be crafted!
But to do that I needed to craft a forge...
    A basic essential…
But the crafting materials for this forge isn’t so basic…
I needed to go hunt animals…
While my character is dying of thirst… life slowly draining...
I had to hunt animals that are practically nonexistent in this world…
    There are deer...rabbits...bears...dogs...
    But good luck finding them...
Which again brings me back to Minecraft...
Animals are needed for armor in that game so they are reasonably findable…
They aren’t crawling all over the place, but if you actively look you will find some…
    That isn’t the case here…
A material you need for an essential basic to craft an item needed to create glass so your character doesn’t die of thirst is made unreasonably inaccessible…
I was in game for 6 real hours… and still didn’t have the materials for a forge…
My tools and character were just as basic as a fresh spawn…
I felt no sense of progression at all which in turn leaves me feeling frustrated.. Like I’m getting nowhere in this game…
I eventually started thinking what the point...is
    I can’t reasonably craft... I can’t build tunnel systems for materials…
I have no source of water….
what am I supposed to do other than not die…
There is such a deep crafting system here….
the idea of the scavenging hunt is a joy... you can create stronger materials to reinforce your shelter from zombie attacks, even craft guns and bullets...
Find schematics scattered throughout the world... find quests that will lead to treasures... but again the inaccessible survival basics with make all of this seem unobtainable…
As if you just can’t find animals for their hides... you’re going to be stick with the basics forever... that’s just how it is….
one missing puzzle piece will stop you from finishing… and once you do find them or any other materials you still have to deal with the over powered zombies… Zombies in this game are quick damage sponges that can somehow climb… You’ll be hitting them over the head with a club for what seems like forever while they just claw and scratch you dealing with more than one without a gun is near impossible… And you can’t just run as for some reason the developers thought it would be a great idea to allow them to stun you, so you can’t moves for like 3 seconds… just taking the damage… and once again you don’t just find guns in this game.. Character limit reached. Hear the rest on YT SuperkenGaming

Although the game is not the prettiest in the world, it is vivid and highly engaging.

Multiplayer is where the fun really begins. I started up a dedicated server for myself and my friends to play on and it's a true joy to play. Assigning different roles to team mates and working together to survive is surprisingly good fun. Making daring dashes to towns to scavenge supplies while your team mates are busy crafting, farming and mining is simply co-op heaven. Building storage boxes and sharing materials, food and weapons with each-other - it's a great team game. When night-time falls, you all team-up to prevent the zombie onslaught, with sometimes disastrous and hilarious consequences: ever had a mining operation go sour because a horde of zombies literally cause a cave-in? Gaming gold, right there.

The updates are frequent and meaningful, the community doesn't seem divided by systems and mechanics like others (*ahem* Starbound), and the game has captured what I find the most thrilling parts of an apocalypse to be- the hordes, and fearing starvation/dehydration/disease.

You have to work hard to make it in this world, especially if you're playing solo. Thankfully, there's always thousands of players playing, so teaming up or getting help is not as hard as other games.

All the accolades this game has received so far is deservedly so. It may be EA, but it's a great game as is, and will only get better with each update leading to release.

The most recent update brought character customization, while the previous one brought random world generators. The next major update should bring vehicles, so that should be interesting.

Tired of DI or Dying Light being the only option for fun zombie bashing? Give 7DtD a try. It's more survival horror than many games of the same name claim to be.

Now I am extremely annoyed on behalf of everyone that has paid for this steaming pile of **** over the years. At one point it looked like it was guna be good. Then greed stepped in. The Dev's and Madmole got money hungry, and ultimately through their actions 'took our money and ran'.

There is a catalogue of errors now, from glitches and bugs (STILL), to the more obvious changes. The initial Early Game Stage is now a difficult slog as opposed to a fun experience. Just take a look around at the reviews and you'll see people all saying the same thing. Early game has become a GRIND. 7000 exp for level 2 and a single axe swing is 1 or 2 xp. Zeds are 600 to 800 xp so capping 10 or 12 of them would mean a big fight to get to just level 2. So for players that are huge fans of PvE factors then I hope you like the ASCII image above. Now any decent progress is either grind out 3000 Axe swings or try fight through 10-12 Zeds without a nearby Horde noticing.

This one example is a single wave in a tsunami of changes that went live with A17. No of which were asked for by the majority of players, and none were needed. The Dev's literally wanted to make the Stags a$$hole look prettier rather than balance the game. If you do not believe me read some of the other reviews from all over the internet regarding the A17 release. NO OTHER 7DTD RELEASE HAS BEEN SLAMMED MORE.

So The Fun Pimps. I think I speak for myself, but suspect there are other countless ex-players I speak for when I say,

The Devs need to realize they currently have two games: Alpha 16.4 which will end up being a classic and eveything else that comes after Alpha 16.4.

Maybe they'll update Alpha 16.4 to include the latest graphics, vehicles and POIs for the players who stood by them all these years and to honor the vision they originally held, but I highly doubt it. They seem to be content in getting a 50% thumbs down rating for Alpha 17 on Steam

People such as myself who are fans of things like The Walking Dead, Dayz, and the zombie genre in general will most likely enjoy this game. I've spent 300+ hours playing this game over the course of 2.5 years, so I have seen this game change drastically. For example, you used to be able to find tons of guns and ammo all over the place. But now, it is extremely difficult to find enough gun parts to actually create a whole gun (let alone find the schematic for the gun). Looking at what the game currently is and not looking at what the game used to be, it is pretty good. Building bases is very entertaining, crafting weapons (specifically, those extremely rare guns) makes you feel great, being able to chop a zombie's head off in one hit is super rewarding, and playing with friends or even just on multiplayer is fun as all hell. All in all, this game is great for people who like the zombie genre and are looking for a source of entertainment. Although, buy it from steam so if you end up not liking it, you can refund it (because it seems that a lot of people are mixed about it).

From the POV of a nit-picky person, this game is not the greatest. The graphics are very bad for a game that is hard for a rx480 8GB to run. It seems as though, from watching the many update sneakpeaks over the years, that the devs are more focused on adding unnecessary (but still pretty cool) things into the game, rather than improving what they already have. The main turn off for many of the game's players is the lack of good graphics, so the fact that the devs aren't putting that as there 1st, 2nd, or 3rd priority is a little bit strange. The other strange thing about the game is that in the 2.5 years I've owned it, it hasn't left alpha stage yet. The fact that it is still in alpha is sort of ridiculous because, in my opinion, it was beta worthy in alpha 10 (when they made the biggest change yet). If not alpha 10, then alpha 16 as it is apparently going to be the new biggest change to the game.

    2. Game mechanism: SUCKS COMPLETLY!!! You need looooooong time to skill up, earn exp, buy perks to unlock recipes or what will allow you to make better tools, bows and other equipment. To reach lvl 50 which will allow you to to start PVP you need about 100-150h of playing time. If you will discover **** on the server or you will be baned your skills, exp, level is lost, It is not moved from one server to another. Therefore now what about servers.
    3. SERVERS: there are no any dedicated servers, players own servers, so admin pay for it and then he do what he want with other players who are tied to their server because as I wrote above, tehy spent teens of hours and now they do not want to start everything from the beginning. PVP is completly broken due to that. Powerfull admin tools, maps, etc. gives playing admin and his friends strong adventage over others. I heard some stories that for donation of server player could get exp/level or rare stuff as gift GOD ADMIN.
Everything is nice until you will kill or try to raid admin base. Then he will use all his power to destroy you like cockroach.
When you will break into theirs base fast you will see that they are cheating, duping items or taking them from cheat global inventory.
My last super embarrassing situatuin about PVP experience was that on PVP server I have been kicked because I killed admin, and he wrote that is toxic to rush 2vs1 and he will ban us if we will do the same again.
If you will try to warn other players to avoid some servers and admins on steam forum, you will get BAN!!! Reason? QUOTED "You need to stop this. Sure you have some personal vandetta with some server admin where you played and got boned. That's great. Don't poison our forum with the crap"

AVOID THIS GAME AND DAMMED STEAM FAR AWAY!!!!
Unless you want to play single player

While this is an enjoyable game, it is not worth the asking price of $25 in it's current state. Yes, it is in Alpha build, but with this big of a lack of features, it is simply not worth it. Weird game, full of possibilities, but still weird. It´s not fun to see zombies climbing to the ceiling to pursue you. It´s cool to realize that a good thninking effort was put in some aspects, like the crafting system etc. But afterall, the game is very far from a masterpiece, and yet on everyday gaming, it´s boring aand sincerely doesnt deserve more than a 6.

This game had potential to be a pretty fun experience but overall its really lame. Its ugly to look at, all the movements are really stiff, and if brake a limb you are screwed for a while apparently. Its really buggy and the combat feels god awful. This game is in 'early access' I guess but it looks like it's been that way for years now so I have to ask what are the devs even doing?

This game is a complete waste of time. Nothing about it is fun and the graphics are terrible.

1400+ уже наиграно, и до сих пор не надоела игра, смесь РПГ, выживалки и зомби-хоррора в майнкрафте. Куча вариаций развития, игра постоянно развивается и дополняется.

This game is one of my favorites, and I have a collective time playing it of over 700 hours and still climbing. At first glance, it seems generic, even bad to some. Its graphics are still a bit rough, but even they are still improving with each update. It has an addicting gameplay loop and has a wonderful community backing it. Such a great odd game...
I would give it higher then an 8, but this is a game that is going to be stuck in "Pre alpha" forever.

Отличная игра, которая совмещает в себе несколько других игр. Реализует самые интересные возможности редактирования мира и выживания

Best zombie survival game I've had the chance to play! Crafting is insane and fun and original. The open world feels open but still filled. Looting is always exciting and invigorating, and only rarely pointless. This is an older game and I wish it was optimized for newer generations to allow for a more seamless aging process. Expand

→ Comme dirait The Canberries: zombie, zombie, zombie !

After whopping 10 years spent in Steam’s Early Access, 7 Days to Die still feels unfinished, which makes it quite difficult to evaluate. My reason tells me to tear this game apart for tons of bugs and pretty much non-existent optimization, but my heart wants to give it a high rating. After all, I spent over a hundred hours in it and had fun for most of that time.

7 Days to Die, in my opinion, is dated in a lot of ways. Some of the mechanics feel unnecessarily tedious, the game doesn’t look incredible, and the engine is undoubtedly on its last legs. In other ways, however, the game is revolutionary, featuring a core mechanic loop that I am shocked no other games have replicated and a surprising amount of player freedom in its gameplay. If nothing else, 7 Days to Die will quickly become the next Stardew Valley or Rogue, inspiring a variety of new games and becoming the forefather of its own genre.
