Jan 4, 2026The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a truly generational game. It improves on all aspects of its predecessor, Breath of the Wild. The narrative balances various tones and progresses the character arcs of its major protagonists, while introducing new and compelling NPCs. Further, the gameplay only enhances one of gaming's greatest sandboxes with a new fantastic line of abilities, activities, dungeons, and boss fights. Everything about Tears of the Kingdom is perfect, and as far as I'm concerned, it's one of the best games I've ever played in my entire life.

Sep 9, 2025An excellent upgrade to an already phenomenal game. The Switch 2 version of Tears of the Kingdom is the definitive way to play the game.

Sep 8, 2025The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom didn’t sell as well as Breath of the Wild, and if you have to pick only one, you’ll probably go with the latter. But if you haven’t played it at all, now’s the perfect time to check it out at its silky smooth best on the Nintendo Switch 2. Hyrule in Tears is a world worth exploring again.

Jun 30, 2025The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was already on the Mount Rushmore of video games. That said, if you weren't able to click with the original due to the performance, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition completely revolutionizes the game. Having spent over 70 hours exploring the vast region of Hyrule in glorious HDR, I can't recommend this game enough; it's truly one of the best gaming experiences you can buy in 2025.

Jun 25, 2025Zelda Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch 2 is undoubtedly the best way to discover the game or complete its current adventure. Far more beautiful, fluid and detailed than the original game, Nintendo's new console allows it to shine like never before. The resolution and framerate improvements alone are worth a look at this successful upgrade. It's just a shame that there aren't any real new features to follow, such as the ability to use the console's special features, or that certain improvements, such as the long-distance vegetation display, still struggle to convince. But as it stands, the masterpiece remains intact, and is even more beautiful here.

Jun 16, 2025The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom not only feels right at home on Switch 2, it now feels like the game it was always meant to be. Already a fantastic game in its own right when it released in 2023, it has finally been freed from the shackles of outdated hardware to show what it is truly capable of, and even if you disliked it the first time around – especially if you did, in fact – it is more than worth checking out a second time on Nintendo’s new hardware.
-
Jun 16, 2025The definitive version of one of Nintendo’s most astounding technical and design achievements, that expands and refines the world of Breath Of The Wild in new and unexpected ways.

Jun 12, 2025I find it hard to say whether Tears of the Kingdom is worth revisiting on the Switch 2 for returning players. I haven’t had that experience myself, after all. Plus, the €10 upgrade only gets you a higher resolution, HDR, and a more stable framerate — nothing that truly shakes things up functionally. That said, I do expect that almost anyone with a save file from 2023 still has plenty left to do before reaching 100%. For new players or returning Zelda fans who walked away from Breath of the Wild disappointed back then, I’d say: give it a chance. After playing Tears of the Kingdom, I’m still not entirely convinced — I’d love to see a brand-new, traditional Zelda on the Switch 2. That said, I’ve come to appreciate the direction Zelda took in 2017 a lot more now.

Jun 10, 2025The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom builds upon Breath of the Wild's robust systems to offer an experience that eclipses the original in practically every way. Not only that, but it works incredibly hard to restore some of the things lapsed players might've missed from the traditional Zelda experience, and it pays off in droves. While the novelty of its design will never be as impactful as Breath of the Wild's debut, Tears of the Kingdom is one of the best Zelda experiences you'll ever have.
-
Jan 5, 2026The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sets a new standard for the open-world Zelda formula. It’s a truly unforgettable experience that manages to encapsulate everything good about its predecessor while setting itself apart from what came before. When combined with the power of the newly released Switch 2, it truly comes into its own and exemplifies exactly why Zelda is so revered within the gaming landscape.
-
Jun 19, 2025Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on the Nintendo Switch 2 is the definitive version of Nintendo's modern classic, offering enhanced graphics, smooth 60 FPS performance, and near-instant loading times. While it doesn’t introduce new content, this re-release stands out for its technical improvements and quality-of-life tweaks, making it ideal both for newcomers exploring Hyrule for the first time and for longtime fans looking to relive the adventure with superior comfort and performance.

Jun 18, 2025The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a new masterpiece that makes Breath of the Wild, one of the best games of all time, look like a mess. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, it is certainly no longer a "revolution," but it perfects the player experience in an epic dimension that is unparalleled. The feeling of freedom, the impression of living your own adventure without constraints, these are the great strengths of a game with an absolutely exceptional lifespan. Tears of the Kingdom is revealed over time, little by little, to the point that it will still have things to reveal to us for years to come. It is a jewel of absolute purity and definitely, adventure with a capital A.

Jul 3, 2025The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gets a much-needed upgrade on the Nintendo Switch 2, transforming a good game into a truly great one. With buttery-smooth performance, enhanced visuals, and clever new quality-of-life features like in-game navigation and build sharing, this is undoubtedly the definitive way to experience Hyrule's latest adventure. If you haven't played it yet or are looking for a true showcase for your new console, the Switch 2 Edition makes Tears of the Kingdom shine.
-
Jun 16, 2025There's no denying Tears of the Kingdom is played best on the Nintendo Switch 2, but the new edition can be somewhat frustrating thanks to the Zelda Notes app that isn't as functional as you would like it to be.
-
Jun 11, 2025The Switch 2 upgrade for Tears of the Kingdom is a massive win: visually impressive, feature-rich, and finally running without compromise.
-
Jun 9, 2025When all's said and done, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a fantastic revamp of perhaps Nintendo's most sublime sequel. What was once a technical marvel on aged hardware now has a chance to truly shine, with visual and performance boosts undoubtedly making it the definitive way to play. Nothing will ever match the feeling of playing it for the first time, of course, and some bonus content would have been welcome, but armed with Zelda Notes and the promise of buttery smooth upgrades, I'd challenge anyone to dip back in without losing hours to its unrivalled wonder.
-
Jun 16, 2025As I was still far from finished with Tears of the Kingdom, I was delighted to be able to do so with improved technology. If you feel the same way, or if you haven't played the title yet, you should definitely go for the Switch 2 version. As with BotW, it's a bit of a shame that the Zelda Notes features are only accessible via an app.

Sep 9, 2025I love Zelda and I really wanted to love this entry. If you’re looking for an open world sandbox with outstanding physics and mechanics, this is the game for you. Its graphics, controls, sound design and music are absolutely stunning. And despite my grievances, I still put in over 150 hours, even on an adult’s schedule. But I can perhaps see now why I dropped this game shortly after launch, it’s a less cohesive experience than Breath of the Wild, exemplifying not only its best qualities but also some of its weakest. Perhaps open world Zelda has reached its natural peak; will the next entry try to somehow top it, or will it return to the old formula that I seem to be hung up with nostalgia for? Time will tell.
