Sep 8, 2025Kirby and the Forgotten Land is still a joy to play three years later, especially with the new Star World on Switch 2. The reused levels make it feel less fresh, but the upgraded visuals and performance make this extra adventure a must for fans.

Sep 2, 2025The Switch 2 upgrade of Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a beautifully crafted 3D platformer that brings a familiar, yet fresh, adventure for the pink puffball. The new edition enhances the experience with improved graphics, a smoother 60fps framerate, and the addition of the Star-Crossed World DLC. While the core gameplay of sucking up enemies and objects with Kirby's iconic "Mouthful Mode" remains a constant delight, the game's overall simplicity and the safe nature of the new content might leave veteran gamers wanting more.

Sep 2, 2025Probably one best for the diehard fans.
-
Aug 31, 2025An elegant and polished move to 3D for Kirby. It's generous game but far too systemic and easy though.
-
Aug 27, 2025An unnecessary but well-made expansion for what remains Kirby’s best platform adventure, with plenty of neat new extras and a peculiarly difficult final boss.

Aug 27, 2025While I didn’t think there was quite enough that was new about Star-Crossed World, I still had a lot of fun. The new stages are well-crafted and full of optional goals. The new enemy designs are cool and clever. And I ended up getting sucked back into the base game. On the other hand, the Switch 2 of it all is lost on me. The game looks and performs just as it did back in 2022. I hesitate to recommend something so expensive, but the game is still a lot of fun. Returning fans won’t want to miss this one, however. Star-Crossed World is a delightful addition to an already excellent Kirby game.

Aug 27, 2025Kirby and the Forgotten Land is still a great platformer three years later, and the Star-Crossed World DLC that comes as part of its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition adds a few more amusing levels to the mix – but that’s about it. A couple of cool new enemies, funny Mouthful Mode transformations, and clever ideas put its 12 stages in the top half of the heap overall, but with little beyond that, this comes across less like a proper expansion and more like a DLC level pack to invite you to come back for a weekend. It’s all fun enough that it’s fairly easy to recommend to anyone who has been dying for more Forgotten Land since finishing it, but doesn’t feel like an upgrade that will irresistibly suck you in like one of Kirby’s mouthfuls.

Aug 27, 2025So, is the expansion worth it? Much more than Mario Party, but at the same time don't expect a lot of content or innovation. For me, it's more like a nice icing on top of what was a memorable adventure, as a way to expand on the original experience with the recipe of "more and better". If the Switch title was among your favourites, go swallow the expansion and bump it up a notch in our score, because you won't be disappointed and you'll enjoy a new story with a few additions. If you don't already own the original, you'd better give it a try before jumping straight into the €80 edition.

Dec 4, 2025A tasty but ultimately low-calorie addition to the excellent Kirby and the Forgotten World.

Sep 2, 2025Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World is just more Kirby. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is up to you and how much you liked the base game.
-
Aug 29, 2025If we evaluate the full experience, meaning the base game plus the expansion, Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World offers an easygoing game to finish and a great way for younger players to learn basic platforming mechanics, guided by the charismatic Kirby. However, as an expansion, Star Crossed World adds very little to the original game to justify the investment and feels more like a pretext to charge for the upgraded package on the Switch 2.

Aug 31, 2025Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is an old game with an obscene new price tag that doesn’t offer anywhere near enough to convincingly get away with it. The original game was great, but this package is a cash grab from a company intent on selling its flagships out. It's really sad to see Kirby, my favorite Nintendo series, used to normalize this exploitative new price point.

Aug 28, 2025As much as I loved returning to the Forgotten Land — and especially seeing its landscapes smoother and brighter than ever on Switch 2 — I’m finally ready to move on this time. I’ve accepted that new Mouthful forms will only take the puzzle platforming hook I love so far. For the series to keep surprising us, it needs to transform instead of hanging on to one specific format. In that sense, you can see Star-Crossed World as whipped cream on top of a rich dessert. It’s meant to be a delightful top off that leaves you full without pushing you over the edge into bellyache territory. Savor the heavenly taste, but don’t let it turn into a craving.

Aug 28, 2025Over five hours of gameplay, I was entertained by the new ideas and puzzles presented in these levels.
