A comprehensive and delightful platforming adventure that is as charming as it is accessible.

The DLC mode doesn’t change Forgotten Land fundamentally despite a handful of new big-mouth abilities such as a supercharged jump. However, a punishing boss rush awaits at the end of the new levels, one that will probably confuse and confound players accustomed to the gentle challenge in the rest of the game. That sting in the tail aside, this reworked package of Kirby’s mouthiest moments will satisfy every fan’s appetite.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World offers a visually enhanced version of the original game along with a short but enjoyable set of new levels and abilities. While the added content isn’t extensive, it’s a fun expansion that complements an already excellent platforming experience.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land's Switch 2 Edition is the best paid upgrade yet, and a worthy addition to one of the Switch's finest platformers.

Whether approaching the game for the first time with this release, or returning for its add-on Star-Crossed Worlds DLC, there’s so much to this adventure. It’s bright, bouncy, and brilliant, and now even more so with its new features. Modern platformers don’t get much better than this.

For the most part, Star-Crossed World is just more Kirby and the Forgotten Land, but with a slightly different aesthetic. Given it’s been three years since the initial release, it mostly gave me an excuse to jump back into a game I loved so much and experience some of that joy again – something I wouldn’t have necessarily expected after all this time.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World is the best Kirby game ever made, and on the Switch 2 it's better than ever.

So yes, the game feels pretty solid and good, and if you own the original, I would definitely consider picking up the upgrade DLC from the Nintendo eShop—and if you haven’t played the original Forgotten Land before, now is the perfect time to do so.

Nintendo and Hal Laboratory have once again pulled off an adventure that not only improves upon the original adventure but the added content offers enough to consider it essential. If you enjoyed the base game, the additional content will delight you and won't disappoint you at all. A perfect example of how to offer a new version of the game for one of the most beloved characters that exist.

Each stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is fun and engaging, giving everyone who enjoyed the original version even more to love. There are plenty of things to love about this game: amazing music, great gameplay and stellar art. Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World is a wonderful addition to the Nintendo Switch 2. It won’t be the most challenging game, with the difficulty being easy, but it's still incredibly fun to play. While it may have been a late addition to the lineup of updated games on the console's launch, it still shows that it can hold its place as one of the best Kirby games.

While not redefining the genre, the new Kirby is an insanely clever take on platforming that delivers a ton of laughs with its stellar co-op. The Star-Crossed World material adds a fair amount of value for veterans and makes an already sizable game even bigger for newcomers. This is a fantastic game to play through with a kid or a buddy, with challenges and secrets piled into its densely packed levels. Another winner for the Switch 2.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land on Switch 2 features many audiovisual enhancements to original content and brings along interesting extra mode with smooth integration. The Switch 2 version is superior to base game and is the definitive edition with plenty of ideas and level design showcases.

After actually playing through Star-Crossed World, I still think this is an odd choice for the first year of Nintendo Switch 2. Having said that, it served as a great reminder why I enjoyed the original game so much in the first place. Kirby and the Forgotten Land was already one of the best Kirby games ever, and all of the extra content is just icing on the cake. HAL Laboratory has expanded on the established foundations and added a nice incentive to revisit one of the best games on Switch. Between Star-Crossed World and Kirby Air Riders in November, it seems like 2025 is shaping up to be a very good year for this franchise.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land has always been one of my favorite Nintendo Switch games, and this update has made it even better, appealing to fans by offering new content that lives up to the original release and even evoking a sense of nostalgia for those who played the game when it was first released a couple of years ago.

Is a game that should be considered a must-have for those who have already tried the original version, or even for new players. It's one of the best platformers for Nintendo consoles in recent years and a necessary evolution for the franchise.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land was a great platformer on Switch, and the Switch 2 version is even better. Beyond the graphical overhaul, which was necessary and welcome, the highlight of this edition is the expansion of content, which resolves one of the main issues with the original game. The other was the difficulty level, which was set too low, and here too, the additional content steps in to offer a slightly tougher challenge. The question remains as to whether a remake of a 2022 game was necessary, but the additional content attempts to resolve a couple of the game's main limitations and, after all, it is also available as an update for those who already own the original game on Switch.

Brilliant level design that reimagines the base game: astral flowers and new transformations elevate the pace and verticality. Some sections with Cartel get stuck, but the smile doesn't fade.

If you haven’t played Kirby and the Forgotten Land before, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition is the best way to play an already excellent 3D platformer that finally gives the pink protagonist the level of respect he deserves in the genre. If you’re a returning player, there is enough fresh content here to justify the asking price and then some. I can see Nintendo making these lush revivals a common occurrence on its new platform, and after Forgotten Land, that would be no bad thing.

Star-Crossed World should be seen as the icing on the cake to what is already among the heroic pink star’s greatest adventures to date. Its brevity once again left me wanting more, but the new content is meaningful and a worthwhile distraction even for those who have beaten the game before. For newcomers, this is an enviable opportunity to experience Forgotten Land’s kaleidoscopic greatness running at its triumphant best. I can’t wait to see what adventures HAL Laboratory take Kirby on next.

There are 12 Starry Stages to tackle in total set across all of the base game’s main zones, each level boasting up to 10 Starries to save. While I don’t have my exact completion time, you’re getting quite a number of hours worth of content here and for £16.99 for the upgrade, my firm assertion is that Star-Crossed World offers plenty of bang for your buck. Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World takes an already stellar experience and expands upon almost every aspect that you know and love. A tad more enemy variety would have been nice but it’s hard to see Star-Crossed World as anything other than a must-play experience.

It might not be the most challenging platformer around, but this updated version of Kirby and The Forgotten Land is a worthwhile upgrade for existing owners or a fantastic starting point for newcomers. The new Star-Crossed World expansion makes excellent use of the base game, though I’d have still appreciated trickier boss fights and maybe some more Mouthful abilities.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land turned out to be a good Switch game, but the Switch 2 Edition with Star-Crossed World is a great, must-play adventure for the new system. The performance upgrades are a big deal, and they make the game look even more stunning and responsive in handheld mode. The new challenges and levels in the expansion are creative and inventive, and they’re fresh in ways I didn’t anticipate. You really shouldn’t miss this game.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World is the definitive version of one of the Switch’s best games and this game in any form is practically an essential purchase. Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World takes the best Kirby game ever made and builds on it, cementing the game’s place as the turning point for the series towards loftier goals. Improved graphics and a bump in frame rate make the game’s already excellent art style look and feel even better, and the new stages, while more of the same, are even more fun than the base game. It’s a brilliant game made better in just about every way, and well worth the upgrade.

Kirby And The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World gives you the base Forgotten Land experience at a delicious 60fps with a whole big bunch of new content thrown in for good measure. The 12 remixed areas that make up the DLC are uniformly delightful, the new transformations are excellent, and there's even new challenges for hardcore Kirby fans to get stuck into. One of the best games on Switch, and one of my favourite 3D platformers in years, polished to a sparkly sheen and packing some meaningful new content? That's a very easy recommendation and a truly excellent addition to the Switch 2's early lineup.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is the definitive version of Kirby’s 3D adventure. It combines all the charm of the original game with graphical and performance improvements, new Mouthful Modes and collectibles, plus a new story and interesting characters. The game is still fun, but the new content is short and leaves the impression it could have been used better.

And we don't want to forget to mention one of the aspects we liked the most: the soundtrack. It was already a standout feature in the original game, and in this case, the scores in the altered levels have been significantly transformed, offering us compositions that shine once again, in this case with a more mysterious and cosmic (sometimes even dark) approach. Without a doubt, it's a very well-executed expansion that adds even more value to a video game that is established as one of the best Kirby games ever made... probably the best.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land remains a must-play platformer for Switch and Switch 2 owners. While it doesn’t quite reach the heights of Super Mario Odyssey, HAL Laboratory delivers a stellar 3D reinvention of Kirby. The Star-Crossed World expansion blends seamlessly with the base game, adding variety and longevity. The only drawback is a price point that feels fair for the content, but was poorly communicated by Nintendo.

If you didn’t play Kirby and the Forgotten Land before…well, that means you really need to play it now that it’s on the Switch 2. Not only do you have the fun bonus content, you also get one of Kirby’s best games, his foray into 3D platforming where you can really see the creative team behind the game stretch their powers to think of how our pink puffball hero can interact with a world that has more than two dimensions. Things like the Kirby-car and the Kirby-spike do a great job of making our hero more powerful, but in fun new ways than we saw in older games. And the key word there is “fun,” regardless of whether you’re playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land in its original form or now that you have the option of playing this Star-Crossed World expansion on Switch 2. If you missed it last time around, or even if you just feel like revisiting it on the Switch 2, it’s well worth checking out.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is a nearly perfect package for newcomers, improving upon an already excellent 3D platformer by polishing it up with improved graphics and doubling the framerate for an even smoother visual experience. Even though the Star-Crossed World campaign is relatively short and the gameplay feels like more of the same, the newly added content maintains the same level of quality and charm as the base game, offering a good enough reason for veterans to revisit one of the best titles on Switch, while saving development time for a new game.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World Nintendo Switch 2 Edition represents far more than a mere port. This edition delivers a refined, complete, and expanded version of what was already one of the finest 3D Kirby games. Its expansion adds tangible value and creativity. The new abilities reshape level design, and the technical enhancements ensure that the visuals and gameplay perform and feel better than ever.

A brilliant example of how to meaningfully re-release a title. Not only do we have a fabulous technical upgrade, but also a juicy expansion that significantly enriches the original experience without breaking its essence. For Kirby fans, it's a must-buy. For those who didn't play the original, this is undoubtedly the best way to experience it.

A return that doesn't revolutionise, but confirms that Kirby and the Lost Land is still one of the most successful chapters in the series. The graphical upgrade and new content don't transform the experience into something completely different, but they offer the perfect excuse to return and explore the meticulous level design and creativity of the Mouth Morphs. The level remixes, although familiar, prove surprising thanks to new paths and spectacular visual interactions, demonstrating how even a small adjustment can breathe new life into an already beloved world. Short, yes, but intense enough to remind us why the chubby pink hero always manages to make us smile and make every exploration a pleasure.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World is a great 3D platformer made better thanks the technical upgrades, and story expansion. The Astral World is one of the best Nintendo Switch 2 Editions released to date. It comes with a 4 hours expansion featuring some truly eye-catching levels and a boost in smoothness and resolution that we now can't live without. It's still one of the character's best titles and a must-play platformer.

Star-Crossed World feels like a well-integrated playable epilogue: more content and new paths thanks to crystals, three clever Mouthful modes, and an engaging Starries hunt. It doesn’t reinvent the formula, but it adds a solid 4–5 hours and reasons to return to Waddle Dee Town on Switch 2.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + The Astral World is the definitive version of one of the most creative platformers of recent years. Kirby and the Lost Land returns to Nintendo Switch 2 in an improved and expanded version. For those who have never explored the post-apocalyptic landscapes explored by HAL Laboratory's little pink sphere, this is the perfect opportunity to revisit a fun, colorful platformer with brilliant art direction. The challenge level is generally on the low side, but those who are determined to rescue all the Waddle Dees and Astrals will have plenty to enjoy, especially in the additional levels offered by the Astral World expansion. Building on the foundations of the original title, this expansion manages to offer a fresh perspective on a selection of Kirby and the Lost Land levels, focusing primarily on vertical exploration. The only regret is that the content didn't include more original opponents to test the amazing powers of our little pink sphere.

A successful bet for our little pink ball! This transition to 3D is a resounding success and gives more depth to this Nintendo universe, usually more in the background than the giants of the firm (Mario, Zelda and other Pokémon). Between well-thought-out new features and emblematic elements, Kirby has undeniably found the right formula and delivers us an excellent surprise. Everything is simple, of course, but it works and it is difficult to let go of the console. So yes, the world is less open than we thought, yes you will find few real challenges there, but we quickly forget that once the game is launched. A little breath of fresh air that feels good and constitutes an excellent gateway to the Kirby universe.

Overall, Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World brings a decent amount of new content to the table. The new Mouthful Mode abilities are great and work well in the new Starry Stages. While the lack of new Copy Abilities and a large number of reskinned familiar enemies might be a bit disappointing, the new content overall is certainly worth the cost of an upgrade pack for existing owners of the base game. For those who missed the original, the new content and performance improvements make it the best version of a fantastic platformer by far, and easily worth recommending to Switch 2 owners looking for a memorable experience.
  48. 85
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is ironically a mouthful of a title, but it does signify what this package is. There's a lot here to love, whether it's the significant visual improvements to Forgotten Land or a bunch of new levels to waddle through as Kirby with a brand new aesthetic. But as an expansion, it plays it extremely safe. As such, Star-Crossed World is more of Forgotten Land, which is hardly a bad thing, but it might upset fans looking for something dramatically new.

The Switch 2 version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land benefits from its refined graphics including the now stable (and higher) framerate. Star-Crossed World adds a touch of the familiar and just enough fresh ideas to enrich an already generous package—now even more complete thanks to the improved performance on Switch 2. The challenge can be surprisingly steep for those who want it, but even so, Kirby and the Forgotten Land remains, three years later, one of the most delightful and accessible 3D platformers for players of all ages and skill levels.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World may be a difficult title to recall by heart but fortunately, we don't need to memorize it to enjoy this little Nintendo Switch 2 marvel. The original game is treated to a very welcome new levels that add an additional layer when it comes to exploration and difficulty, and the game's looks and performance on the Switch 2 work like a charm. If bringing Kirby to a 3D world was a very good idea, updating it to the Nintendo Switch 2 was even better.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World on Switch 2 offers a cleaner, sharper presentation and a new island with 12 short stages that refine the original formula rather than reinvent it. The starries mechanic reshapes areas in playful ways and a standout final boss raises the challenge, but repeating music, recurring minibosses, and the absence of Portuguese localization dull the sparkle. A fun, focused expansion that shines in short daily sessions for existing fans, while newcomers at full price may find it solid yet less ambitious than Nintendo’s best platformers.

This Switch 2 release is easily the best-looking version of the platforming classic, with slick visuals, fun new transformations, and clever remixed levels. But for the asking price, it feels like the package should deliver more content.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World takes an already-great game and gives you more of it. The upgrade doesn't feel as essential as the Zelda Switch 2 Edition games, because those helped ambitious games run more smoothly and fully realize their original potential. But it is more substantial than either of those, by nature of adding new story content and stages to explore. Kirby and the Forgotten Land was already a platforming buffet, and this add-on is a great reason to go back for seconds.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is the definitive edition of a much-loved original Nintendo Switch game. Performance tweaks make the adventure buttery smooth (niche pun intended) and the Star-Crossed World content has been seamlessly integrated into the base game for excellent cohesion. Those stepping into this Kirby adventure for the first time should certainly consider the Switch 2 edition for the full, optimised experience. There's enough content for existing owners to consider an upgrade – a delicious desert, but it could leave you craving more.

Here, you'll find a few nice new levels with new challenges. None of this transforms the game in any way; it's simply more of the same. You can have a few hours of fun with it and enjoy the noticeably improved technology, perhaps even on a completely new playthrough. Nevertheless, I'm ultimately left with the impression that, despite the quality of the content, I think €20 is a bit too much, especially since other Nintendo games have received a free technical upgrade on the Switch 2.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a simple but very entertaining game that shines even brighter with the improvements made in the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, while the Star-Crossed World expansion is yet another demonstration of HAL and Nintendo's elegant methodology: highly accessible fun with a challenge thrown in for good measure.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is a good addition to the Nintendo Switch 2 catalog and meets different requirements. It gives Nintendo gamers the chance to revisit one of the good games from the previous console in a more muscular format and with new content, it's a good chance for those with younger offspring at home to enjoy a good cooperative adventure that's light on commitment and it still works beautifully for those looking for a new experience on the Switch 2 and who don't know Kirby yet. Get used to the pink ball, he's coming back into our lives soon, and at great speed.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World may not transform what was already in the game, but it never needed to. Three years after its release, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is still an excellent platformer, made just a bit better by the new edition’s visual improvements. But the new levels added in Star-Crossed World are the real reason to pay attention to the new release, as some of the best games of an already great game. Between the Star-Crossed World update and the upcoming Kirby Air Riders, this is as good a time as there’s ever been to pay attention to Nintendo’s strangest mascot, and a good sign that the Kirby series has still more to offer.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land was already a fantastic game, and this new upgrade is worth the $20 asking price. The increase in resolution and switch to 60fps make it look and feel far more polished than before, and while the 12 new stages are essentially little more than an expansion pack, in this case more of the same thing isn't a negative.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World is familiar, cozy, and just a little shinier than before. The upgrade smooths out performance, makes those transformations pop, and wraps everything in an extra layer of polish with a bonus adventure that’s light but worth a spin. It’s not rewriting the Kirby playbook or flexing the Switch 2’s muscles in a big way, but honestly? It doesn’t need to. For anyone chasing colorful worlds, hidden goodies, and that classic Kirby charm, this is still one of the pink puffball’s best adventures.

The Switch 2 upgrade of Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a beautifully crafted 3D platformer that brings a familiar, yet fresh, adventure for the pink puffball. The new edition enhances the experience with improved graphics, a smoother 60fps framerate, and the addition of the Star-Crossed World DLC. While the core gameplay of sucking up enemies and objects with Kirby's iconic "Mouthful Mode" remains a constant delight, the game's overall simplicity and the safe nature of the new content might leave veteran gamers wanting more.

Probably one best for the diehard fans.

An elegant and polished move to 3D for Kirby. It's generous game but far too systemic and easy though.

An unnecessary but well-made expansion for what remains Kirby’s best platform adventure, with plenty of neat new extras and a peculiarly difficult final boss.

While I didn’t think there was quite enough that was new about Star-Crossed World, I still had a lot of fun. The new stages are well-crafted and full of optional goals. The new enemy designs are cool and clever. And I ended up getting sucked back into the base game. On the other hand, the Switch 2 of it all is lost on me. The game looks and performs just as it did back in 2022. I hesitate to recommend something so expensive, but the game is still a lot of fun. Returning fans won’t want to miss this one, however. Star-Crossed World is a delightful addition to an already excellent Kirby game.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is still a great platformer three years later, and the Star-Crossed World DLC that comes as part of its Nintendo Switch 2 Edition adds a few more amusing levels to the mix – but that’s about it. A couple of cool new enemies, funny Mouthful Mode transformations, and clever ideas put its 12 stages in the top half of the heap overall, but with little beyond that, this comes across less like a proper expansion and more like a DLC level pack to invite you to come back for a weekend. It’s all fun enough that it’s fairly easy to recommend to anyone who has been dying for more Forgotten Land since finishing it, but doesn’t feel like an upgrade that will irresistibly suck you in like one of Kirby’s mouthfuls.

So, is the expansion worth it? Much more than Mario Party, but at the same time don't expect a lot of content or innovation. For me, it's more like a nice icing on top of what was a memorable adventure, as a way to expand on the original experience with the recipe of "more and better". If the Switch title was among your favourites, go swallow the expansion and bump it up a notch in our score, because you won't be disappointed and you'll enjoy a new story with a few additions. If you don't already own the original, you'd better give it a try before jumping straight into the €80 edition.

A tasty but ultimately low-calorie addition to the excellent Kirby and the Forgotten World.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World is just more Kirby. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is up to you and how much you liked the base game.

If we evaluate the full experience, meaning the base game plus the expansion, Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World offers an easygoing game to finish and a great way for younger players to learn basic platforming mechanics, guided by the charismatic Kirby. However, as an expansion, Star Crossed World adds very little to the original game to justify the investment and feels more like a pretext to charge for the upgraded package on the Switch 2.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is an old game with an obscene new price tag that doesn’t offer anywhere near enough to convincingly get away with it. The original game was great, but this package is a cash grab from a company intent on selling its flagships out. It's really sad to see Kirby, my favorite Nintendo series, used to normalize this exploitative new price point.

As much as I loved returning to the Forgotten Land — and especially seeing its landscapes smoother and brighter than ever on Switch 2 — I’m finally ready to move on this time. I’ve accepted that new Mouthful forms will only take the puzzle platforming hook I love so far. For the series to keep surprising us, it needs to transform instead of hanging on to one specific format. In that sense, you can see Star-Crossed World as whipped cream on top of a rich dessert. It’s meant to be a delightful top off that leaves you full without pushing you over the edge into bellyache territory. Savor the heavenly taste, but don’t let it turn into a craving.

Over five hours of gameplay, I was entertained by the new ideas and puzzles presented in these levels.
