Already one of the best JRPGs available, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is truly impressive on Switch 2. The visuals are astounding whether you play handheld or docked, and while it's not flawless, performance is solid. Throw in new Streamlined Progression features which make the game more accessible than ever, and you have a must-play, especially for newcomers.

All in all, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake port on the Switch 2 is very well done. Players get the excellent Intergrade version with only a few graphical compromises compared to the PS5 version. These differences are hardly noticeable, especially when playing in handheld mode. In terms of content, Final Fantasy 7 Remake remains exceptional. Fans can look forward to one of the best role-playing game experiences of recent years.

The Switch 2 is now my console of choice for playing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, and it's still one of the best RPGs of all time.

The long and short of it is that FFVII Remake Intergrade is a truly excellent game, and it plays brilliantly on the Nintendo Switch 2. Having such an excellent port of an excellent game to play on the go more than justifies a second purchase of it.

While it’s not a new game, the love put in to this version of the first third of Final Fantasy 7 here makes it a brilliant addition to the slowly growing Switch 2 library. Gamers will be as addicted as ever and for £40-odd this feels like quite the bargain compared to some of the more meh full price titles nowadays.

I’m still skeptical of the remake and I am a purist when it comes to the original Final Fantasy games, and my favorites of the series are turn based. Would I have liked to see Final Fantasy VII Remake be a full turn-based game? Yes. I’m not going to allow that to Cloud my opinion on if this is a good game by itself. The answer to that question is a solid yes. This is a great game. The next chapter in the Final Fantasy VII remake saga, Rebirth is coming to Switch 2 and Xbox, hopefully later this year. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has convinced me to give them all a shot, and I highly recommend that you do too.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 is not simply a remake. It’s a conversation between eras, a testament to how far storytelling and technology have come, and a reminder that great stories never truly age but evolve. It honours its legacy without being shackled by it. It modernises without erasing history. It dazzles technically while grounding itself emotionally. Whether you’re stepping into Midgar for the first time or returning after decades, this version offers something rare: the feeling of discovery layered atop remembrance. If this is merely the opening act of the trilogy, then the future of Final Fantasy VII has never looked brighter or more ambitious. And somewhere, in the glow of neon and memory, the planet breathes a little easier knowing its story is still being told.

If FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE is a proof of concept in stress testing the Switch 2’s processing power, consider it passing with flying colors. It’s the same incredible FFVII remake that’s been available on multiple platforms since its original release in 2020. While it doesn’t add anything new for first time players, it’s the best example of a AAA port done exceptionally well on the Nintendo Switch 2. If you’re a Final Fantasy fan, Switch 2 owner, and have been waiting to play VII REMAKE INTERGRADE all this time, now is the best time to play. If you’ve been waiting to play a AAA port on your new Switch 2, this is assuredly the best port that should be added to your library.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade remains one of the best games of its generation, and the Switch 2 port is highly competent, offering a great opportunity for those who haven’t played it yet or want to revisit the story of Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, and the fight to save the planet from Shinra and Sephiroth.

Great visuals, great story, and great gameplay—it isn’t often that you get all three in a single game, but that’s exactly what’s on offer with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. This is an early, essential title for Switch 2 owners; an RPG for the ages that will be just as remembered as the original as time goes by. We strongly recommend giving Remake a download, especially as the launch of Rebirth on Switch 2 is just around the corner this summer.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 stands as a surprisingly solid port. Midgar looks spectacular thanks to its lighting, and the package includes Episode INTERmission. In exchange, the game runs at 30fps, uses a softer resolution, and shows inconsistent textures in areas such as the Slums, along with occasional upscaling artifacts. Even so, the combat excels, the story shines, and the docked mode maintains strong stability.

An already outstanding title can now be taken natively on the go, has all additional content bundled in it, and now possesses new modes to make the game more approachable to all. Final Fantasy VII Remake was a sensation in 2020, and it’s only better now in 2026.

Final Fantasy VII Remake on Switch 2 is a bold port that prioritizes visual fidelity and complete content over space optimization. While its file size is excessive by Switch standards and it does experience minor performance drops, it offers one of the best technical experiences seen on the console, perfect for reliving Midgar on the go.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade brings one of the most influential RPGs of all time to the Nintendo Switch 2 under a modern, ambitious and competent work that delivers the game's most versatile and accessible version ever made. While there is a choice between graphics and performance in some instances, this remake brings forth an enveloping plot, a dynamic hybrid combat system, a good adaptation work to the Switch 2 and on top of that, there's the Intermission episode.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade is easily one of the finest ports on the Switch 2, second probably only to Cyberpunk in terms of scale. It combines solid performance with a level of presentation that’s not far behind the PS5 at times – An impressive feat, considering you can play it during your commute. Just be aware it’s a voracious beast that will consume half your internal storage before you even press start. If you’re yet to experience Final Fantasy VII Remake (or thinking about giving it a second chance), Integrade for the Switch 2 is a wonderful way to reacquaint yourself with this bombastic meta-analysis of one of the finest JRPGs ever made.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives on Switch 2 as a technically impressive and emotionally rich reimagining of Midgar, blending fast-paced combat with a thoughtful narrative expansion. The port runs exceptionally well on Nintendo’s new hardware, maintaining its cinematic presentation and smooth performance. While some pacing issues and a weaker DLC chapter hold it back slightly, this remains a must-play RPG experience for both newcomers and longtime fans.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives on Switch 2 with a confidence that immediately sets it apart from the competition, delivering an experience that feels both ambitious and assured from the moment the journey begins. The heart of the remake beats strongly throughout, with Midgar’s drama, intimacy, and spectacle preserved in a form that feels remarkably complete on hybrid hardware. The adaptation shows clear intent, shaping its presentation with care so the emotional weight of every scene lands exactly as it should. The world retains its grandeur, the characters retain their depth, and the adventure retains its power to sweep players into something far larger than the sum of its parts. The result is a version that feels consistently engaging, impressively cohesive, and far more polished than many would expect from such a lavish production running on a portable system. Intergrade’s additional content enriches the experience further, offering moments of charm, energy, and narrative texture that round out an already substantial adventure. This release stands as a testament to what a thoughtful adaptation can achieve, proving that scale and spectacle need not be sacrificed for accessibility. A beloved classic has been reimagined once more, and the hard work gone into it ensures that its magic remains undeniable on Switch 2.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade was an incredible game when it came out, and it has aged wonderfully well. There isn't much new material in Remake Intergrade for those who've already played it, but the handheld mechanics offer a nice way to casually replay the game. The core gameplay is as fun as ever, the characters are still tremendously likable, the music is phenomenal, and it's absolutely worth playing if you're remotely a fan of the franchise or RPGs in general.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 delivers a surprisingly strong portable experience. While limited to 30 fps and showing occasional performance dips, the game looks great on the console’s screen and includes all major content, including the Yuffie episode. Before calling it a masterpiece (the real challenge will be Rebirth), we can certainly acknowledge the remarkable achievement of Square Enix and Naoki Hamaguchi's team. Yes, storage space and the Game Key Card format might be an issue for some, but that shouldn't distract us from the final result: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade fits on the Nintendo Switch 2 and looks fantastic (if you don't scrutinize it too closely)! For the publisher, it's a successful gamble: the game is visually stunning (overall), it made compromises where necessary without compromising the experience, and, above all, it delivers the same feel and enjoyment as the original release. If you've never played it, there's no excuse now, as it's a must-have for the Nintendo Switch 2 library.

Final Fantasy Remake 7 Intergrade is one of the best-looking games on the Switch 2 to date, with an incredible port that compromises on very little to deliver a fantastic version of an already stunning game. Whether you’re a lifelong FF7 fan who’s never dipped their toes into the remake trilogy, a newcomer to the mythos, or just looking to replay it again ahead of the finale, the Switch 2 is one of the best ways to play.

At the end of it all, even under immense scrutiny and in spite of some disappointing shortcomings, there's no getting around the fact that I had a giant grin on my face for just about the entirety of Final Fantasy VII Remake. It's an enjoyable enough game if you're a casual fan of Final Fantasy or action RPGs, but if you're in it for the fandom you may just have your mind blown. It's not a perfect game, but it absolutely exceeded my expectations of what a remake of Final Fantasy VII could be. All that's left now is to (not so) patiently wait for the next part…

This is a game that shouldn’t exist in most reasonable worlds. A few years earlier and the remake might be more benign. A few years later and there’s no way this game gets greenlit. We live in a world with Final Fantasy VII Remake, though. This is a game that bounces from deathly serious climate disasters and tragedy to crossdressing dance sequences and fighting demonic houses. Final Fantasy VII Remake is a deeply weird game, but it’s a deeply weird game with awesome combat, wonderful writing, incredible music, and a joyously baffling story. In the process of this bizarre journey to a remake of a classic, Square Enix also created one of the best Final Fantasy games of the last 30 years.

Overall, the game offers a solid JRPG experience with a lot of choice for players, both in gameplay and character build options. You can select your difficulty settings and whether you want a more classic turn-based combat style or the modernized version offered by Remake. Whether this is your introduction to the story of Final Fantasy 7 or the opportunity to catch up with old friends from the original, the game does its characters and story justice on Switch 2 just as it did on PS5 and PC.

Square Enix and Naoki Hamaguchi’s team did an amazing job with this port to Nintendo Switch 2. The resolution and frame performance are the trade-off, but not by much. Handheld mode is where the breaks in illusion show. Docked mode is the optimal way to play on Nintendo Switch 2. Everything else is intact and the added Streamline Progression options are a great addition. Just make sure you have a new SD card if you are adding this version to your library.

Even in its attempts to swing big and do something different, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade respects where it’s come from. The classic's pro-revolutionary heart is still intact, and it’s never afraid to get a little weird and funny. The Switch 2 version makes impressively few compromises to get this gorgeous-looking game running on the system – even at 30fps, this looks and feels fantastic. The fact that everything from the PS5 release is preserved in such excellent fashion here is remarkable, and it makes me excited (and anxious) about Rebirth’s incoming port.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is an absolute joy to play on Nintendo Switch 2. This fantastic RPG is filled with memorable characters, a fantastic narrative, and an engaging combat system that's almost impossible to put down. The game runs great and looks excellent, with performance consistent at 30 FPS. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on the Switch 2 is a strong port that knows its limits and mostly stays within them. It doesn’t reach the visual or performance highs of the PS5 version, but it also avoids the worst compromises seen on older hardware. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on the Nintendo Switch 2 is a remarkable feat. Not only does the mammoth title run exceptionally well, but it also looks incredible. FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE on Nintendo Switch 2 is a true gem and represents one of the finest modern incarnations of a timeless classic. It is an ambitious, bold work that shows deep respect for the original material, capable of reinventing itself without losing its soul. As I mentioned earlier, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade really surprised me. It has significantly altered my expectations for the series' presence on this platform. The game looks great in docked mode and also performs well in portable mode. Graphically, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of FF7 Remake sits closer to the PS5 than the PS4 Pro, despite having a lower resolution on paper, and it commands respect. With a few minor concessions, the game runs smoothly in almost every situation and never compromises in portable mode. Everything feels carefully crafted to let players enjoy Midgar both on the go and on the big screen. Too bad it's locked at 30 fps. Whether Square Enix can maintain this level of performance with FF7 Rebirth and its more demanding open world remains to be seen. For now, though, the Switch 2 version stands out as one of the most enjoyable and versatile ways to (re)experience the legend of this iconic JRPG.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 is a surprisingly ambitious conversion, successfully bringing one of the most spectacular JRPGs of recent years to the Nintendo platform without compromising its identity. The visual presentation remains high-quality for a (even portable) console, the combat system is still brilliant today, and the content of the Intergrade version guarantees a complete package. On the other hand, the framerate locked at 30 fps represents a step backward that's difficult to ignore after experiencing the fluidity of the versions for inevitably more powerful systems, and the installation size—already significant on the original platforms, to be fair—is particularly noticeable on Switch 2. Finally, the strongly linear structure was already subject to criticism in 2020 and today inevitably appears more dated, especially when compared to the open spaces of Rebirth. It remains an excellent choice for those within the Nintendo ecosystem, but not the definitive version of the game.

Remake still shines for its reinvention of Final Fantasy VII’s first act. The Switch 2 version is outstanding — superior to the original PS4 release. Its Dock/Handheld duality also makes it the best way to experience this modern classic.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is and isn’t a lot of things. It’s a very good action-RPG with a strong presentation. It’s a real trip for fans of the original game. It demonstrates how you can Remake but you cannot truly remake. It’s a fairly well-done port to Nintendo’s new console. For some, it’s a reminder of some of the good times of the past. It might also be a reminder of how far in the past those specific good times were. It’s cool. It’s retro. It’s even got a bit of commentary on our modern fixation with mining the past. I can strongly recommend it, albeit with the caveat that you aren’t going to get any meaningful plot resolution within this part of the overall story. If you’re okay with that, then all I can say is… let’s mosey.

Square Enix has done its homework with a port that, although it remains at 30 fps, offers very high image quality in both docked and handheld modes, attempting to adapt the PS5 version rather than converting the PS4 version, which would have been the easy option. [Recommended]
