Jun 24, 2026Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Switch 2 successfully preserves the essence of one of the best recent RPGs, delivering fluid combat, excellent design, and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. However, the port comes with noticeable visual compromises and a technical presentation that falls short of other platforms. Even so, Square Enix prioritized what matters most. The gameplay remains solid, making this a noteworthy version despite its limitations.

Jun 21, 2026Square Enix demonstrated its ability to harness the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2, but Final Fantasy VII Rebirth presented an even greater challenge due to its vast open world and the sequel's many new features. Meeting this challenge seemed likely to push the Nintendo Switch 2 to its limits, yet the final result was a worthy portable version—featuring some graphical compromises, but no loss of content.
