Dec 1, 2025Even with some sacrifices along the way, Shadows on Switch 2 is a surprisingly detailed and convincing port. It's not the best version, of course, but it's more than enough to enjoy tens of hours in your new console.

Jan 23, 2026Assassin's Creed Shadows on the Nintendo Switch 2 is a technical marvel that showcases the potential of the new hardware. While visual trade-offs are evident – such as the removal of Ray Tracing and lower foliage density – the use of DLSS and VRR ensures a solid and engaging handheld experience. The dual-protagonist system (Naoe and Yasuke) brings much-needed variety to the gameplay. However, the docked mode still suffers from inconsistent frame-pacing and needs further patching. Overall, it is a must-play for fans of the genre who prioritize portability without sacrificing the core content of a massive current-gen RPG.

Dec 15, 2025Assassin's Creed Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2 delivers the same strong core experience seen on other platforms enhanced with portable features and touchscreen support.
-
Dec 8, 2025Assassin's Creed Shadows for Nintendo Switch 2 is a miraculous port that gives owners of the hybrid console an unprecedented opportunity to enjoy one of the best titles in the series to date. While it's true that a few technical issues can be ironed out in future patches, as was done with Outlaws, this edition is a must-have for anyone looking for an action-adventure that transports them to feudal Japan.
-
Dec 2, 2025Assassin's Creed Shadows on Switch 2 delivers a surprisingly robust native port, achieving stable 30 FPS and fast loading times through pragmatic visual sacrifices. While evident cutbacks in textures and physics temper its graphical ambition, the core gameplay remains intact. This version serves as a commendable entry point or a perfect portable complement, despite minor menu quirks and the temporary absence of launch DLC.
-
Dec 16, 2025Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Switch 2 is an impressive technical feat. The open world holds up remarkably well - especially in handheld mode - thanks to smart upscaling and careful optimization. Mouse-style controls are absent, but touch-friendly UI and Ubisoft Connect cross-progression are solid perks.
-
Dec 1, 2025Shadows impresses with its story and open world, but struggles with the technical limitations of the Switch 2.
-
Mar 23, 2026Assassin's Creed Shadows is a solid entry for Nintendo fans who have always wanted to play in this world. The game does a good job of making each character's play style feel distinct, while also keeping the experience fun in the process. The missions can start to feel very similar after a while, but the amount of content means that there's plenty to do before you'll see the end credits roll. The presentation remains impressive overall, and unless you're completely burned out on open-world adventure games, Shadows is a good one to get stuck on.
-
Jan 11, 2026Assassin’s Creed Shadows feels surprisingly at home on Nintendo Switch 2. Despite some understandable cuts to the visual quality it remains an immersive, satisfying, and well-rendered gaming experience. Unfortunately, small issues with the frame rate and input lag can frustrate throughout the game, but following a very successful first patch, the road to optimization is clear.
-
Dec 22, 2025Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ port on Nintendo Switch 2 is, overall, a surprisingly impressive technical achievement, although it comes with the expected trade-offs of adapting a next-gen open world to hybrid hardware. If you prefer a better frame rate or more graphical “muscle” in terms of detail—and you have the option to play on PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC—those remain, without question, the best choices. But if portability is your priority and you want the full Shadows experience in the palm of your hand, Switch 2 delivers a more than solid version.
-
Dec 11, 2025Assassin’s Creed Shadows performs really well on the Nintendo Switch 2, making it an excellent way to experience an interesting story, vibrant world, and two of the best protagonists the series has to offer.
-
Dec 2, 2025Assassin's Creed Shadows on the Nintendo Switch 2 is a remarkable adaptation of this vast, open world RPG experience. Everything that made the game remarkable has been successfully ported to the Switch 2, such as the dual approach to the missions thanks to the differences between the two protagonists, the intricacies of the combat system, the shift in weather seasons with its gameplay implications, the attention to detail and fluid performance, all of that comes together to deliver a marvelous chapter of the Assassin's Creed series to Nintendo's new console. Veterans and newcomers alike will feel at home, with the added benefit of being able to play anywhere.

Dec 1, 2025Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Switch 2 is an impressive port, and a very smooth handheld experience. It's a great way to play the game whether you're a first-timer or just looking for a portable replay.
-
Dec 1, 2025Outside of the technical ups and downs of its transition to Switch 2, Assassin's Creed Shadows remains a thoroughly enjoyable refresh for the series. Taking its most captivating open world to date and offering two distinct playstyles, it goes a long way toward appeasing current franchise fans while nurturing a new generation of assassins, presenting a huge, intricately crafted depiction of feudal Japan and giving you enjoyable dual protagonists to usher you through it. Shadows isn't a perfect port, then, but it’s still a colossal achievement and one of the best-looking games on Nintendo’s console.
-
Dec 10, 2025Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a very stable port that fits the capabilities of the Switch 2 remarkably well. While it does come with some technical compromises, it still delivers a version well-suited for anyone looking for a solid open-world experience.
-
Dec 10, 2025Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2 is a surprisingly strong version of Ubisoft’s big open-world game. It keeps the large maps, the fast combat, and the two-hero story, while using the Switch 2’s improved power to offer stable performance and clear graphics in docked mode. Some details like shadows and textures are reduced, but the game still feels complete, making it a solid portable way to play it.
-
Dec 18, 2025In its current state after the first major post-launch update, Assassin's Creed Shadows is worth your time handheld on Switch 2 all things considered. If you already own it on another platform, I recommend it on Switch 2 to play on the go and complement the TV experience you get elsewhere. I hope to see some of the performance issues when playing docked addressed and will be revisiting this for the Claws of Awaji expansion in the future.
-
Dec 3, 2025Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Nintendo Switch 2 retains all of the core experience of Ubisoft’s premier open-world game, but it is a cut-back version compared to its more powerful rivals. While it doesn’t reach the same heights as the Star Wars Outlaws port, it's still a decent way to experience Naoe and Yasuke’s epic story.
