Worst Game Ever Made...Honestly. the graphics are puke inducing. the game is long and way too drawn out. and its just not pleasing to sit and play for hours. SKIP AT ALL COSTS! It does not hold up what so ever.

An incredible game, one of the finest of the series. The plot is generic and predictable. But the intricacy and gameplay make up for it.

It should be required to learn when you go to college to learn how to program games. Citizen Kane is the one film everyone in film school watches. The gameplay is a bit dated and there is no shame in keeping a walkthrough up for dungeons, which is a necessity. Time traveling to change aspects of the future is interesting. These reviews here are saying stuff like "If you see a negative review they are just trolls/hate zelda" but that's not true. It's a decades old game that was revolutionary at the time but newer games have improved on it's formula to the point where OOT is outdated, it didn't age as gracefully as Super Mario 64, another early 3D game. Navi isn't as annoying as her reputation makes her seem but she does tell you a lot of obvious stuff and repeats herself a lot. Like for example, saying there's something up with Death Mountain and you should check it out when you're already at Death Mountain. Majora's Mask is a better game overall Expand

Ocarina of Time WAS possibly the greatest game ever made. What I mean with that is that due to this game being on the Nintendo 64, the controls were bound to be horrible, and also there are some parts of this game that REALLY relied on Nintendo Power (or the internet) to be beaten (especially that temple, you know which one).

But besides these techical issues that diminished the chances of this game standing the test of time, it's still really fun. The characters are distinct and alive, the world was groundbreaking for the time, and still manages to be ok in the current age, some of the scores on this will really get stuck in you head for some days, the graphics are great for N64 standards and the game has plenty of extra content to keep you busy if you get bored of the main story.
Even though Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece burdened by some flaws due to hardware issues or Nintendo's need to sell Nintendo Power, you should definitely give this game a try on the new 3ds remaster, or if you're old school, just play it on the N64 and look past the annoyances that come with this version

This game was and is such a large part of my life and as much as I would love to say this game is perfect, there are three things i wish I could change in this game. First I wish there were more side missions. Yes there are quite a few already in the game, but I feel like if they would have added more it could have made this game feel even more realistic and adventurous. Maybe if they would have added that expansion they intended to add with the N64 it would have fixed this issue. Second I think I can speak for everyone when I say having the option to skip through discussions with Kaepora Gaebora would make this game less aggravating. I know some people may argue saying that even though it's annoying this is one of the things in the game that help you experience these different emotions, which is one of the reasons why this game so great. All I have to say is they could have at least made his discussions shorter and sty on topic. Last but not least the fact that the game ends once you defeat Gannon Dorf is so disappointing to me. Now before you jump out lashing at me, let me say I do have mixed feelings about it. The ending to me is the most satisfying and least satisfying part of the game. You spend countless hours going around trying to find all of the little hidden secrets the game holds, getting to know all of the people who live in the game and when it comes time for you to defeat the evil within it, it justs ends. Maybe this is what makes this game so desirable, because it makes you want to take your time adventuring and once you defeat the game you get to start all over so you can try an find things you may have missed the time before. However, I would like to know what happens after you win. Does link and Zelda get together? How is the world now that Gannon Dorf is gone? Has a different evil come to threaten the peace? This game leaves you with so many questions and sadly not to may answers.

I would love to see nintendo come out with a remastered version in HD for the switch. I first thought that a remastered version would possibly ruin the game but seeing the HD Unreal Engine 4 screenplays online has totally changed my mind. I currently don't own a switch but if they do decide to release a remastered version of this game I will totally go out and buy one.

In it's twentieth anniversary, It still is the best gaming experience I ever had with a game, maybe BOTW came close to that sense of exploration, but this is the peak of video game art. The game excels in everything it tries to achieve gameplay, design, music, etc. You could write dozens of books about why it is so good, but it's better to experience the game by yourself.

It's fortunate, then, that he had the help from such a rich cast of supporting characters that offer age-old life lessons and advice as he progresses through the universe. One of the most nurturing and devoted aspects of the game is the wealth of moral direction and wisdom each character gives you throughout Link's travels. They are responsible for embedding the strength of character into the foundations of the game, and helping to forge a truly great hero from a naïve young boy. Whether it's the unwavering support of Navi, the venerable wisdom of the Great Deku Tree or the empowerment from Zelda and the sages, each imparts virtue and instils the heroic spirit in Link that directs him to grow into a well-rounded and admirable protagonist, and it's this endearing cast of supporting characters that helps to engage players in such a memorable way. As well as this, it's inevitable that the virtues these characters impart will embed themselves in the minds and hearts of players, especially as Ocarina of Time was such a success with all ages.

One of the characteristics of Ocarina of Time that makes it stand out more than any other game is the sense of epic adventure and maturation that Link must go through to succeed. There is a brilliantly unravelling character arc threaded into the narrative of this game. The story begins in Link's tiny home, where he is just a child but he is soon faced with the life-changing and daunting task of saving the world. Great responsibility is thrust upon him by fate, not choice, and this is what makes him a great protagonist. Where others might shy away from such a task, Link rises to the challenge and accepts his fate that was written long before he came into being. In no other game does he mature in the same way he does here. We literally play out the transformation from boy to man as his quest develops and there is constantly an emotive power behind his budding maturity as a hero. His growth from a scared little kid into a brave warrior reflects the epic-ness of the game as it spans worlds and times. We can't help but root for him, not just because we are playing him but because he earns our admiration by consistently bearing the weight of the world on his very young shoulders. We feel satisfied when we've finally finished the quest and witnessed Link complete his coming-of-age journey as a fully-accomplished hero.

The incredibly god-like music that has been immortalized in the annals of history, enough said

Also there is a great sense of duty and that Link is fulfilling his destiny by accepting the mission to save Hyrule, even though his expressions exhibit fear and concern that he may not be capable. As a young boy, he is ostracised as an outcast for being different because he doesn't have a fairy. He manages to rise from the obscurity of Kokiri forest - where he has never really fit in - to forge his own identity as the Hero of Time, risking his life to save the world but constantly maintaining his quiet humility. Leaving his old life behind, he sacrifices everything, even his childhood (which is, albeit, eventually restored) in his endeavours to succeed. He is expected to repeatedly put his faith in the strangers he encounters along the way, strangers who provide him with vital direction on his quest, which he does without question. Ocarina of Time emits this grand aura of good versus evil. Aided by a brilliant narrative with an unescapable sense of dread, there is an impression that Link is part of something bigger than himself, and it adds gravity to his journey and emphasises his hero status even further. Consequently he becomes a symbol for everything he is fighting for.

While many have outsold it, and released prettier than it, no game has come close to matching the incredible heart of this legendary title. Objective GOAT, 10/10

Outdated and bland. While this may have at one time presented new and interesting ideas, they are not at all engaging or fantastic from a modern perspective. Coupling this with poorly executed mechanics, frustrating tedium, and an uninteresting world, Ocarina of Time is best passed up for future games in the series or even for other games entirely.
