Marvel's Deadpool VR

A fun, surprisingly lengthy and deep romp with everyone's favorite violent motormouth, Deadpool VR sends players careening around the Marvel Universe on a goofball mission that allows for equal parts bloody combat and surprisingly awesome watercooler moments. The combat is only as fun as you make it, but the non-stop barrage of jokes are top tier. The tone is right, largely due to a killer, irreverent performance from Neil Patrick Harris, so everything else falls into place.

Marvel's Deadpool VR is another great get for the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. In keeping true to its source material, it's an absurd and exciting romp through the Marvel universe in the shoes of one of its most popular characters.

Deadpool VR offers some great arcade-style shooter mayhem, so long as you don’t take it too seriously. While melee combat can sometimes feel like an afterthought, the huge range of weapons will still satiate your bloodlust as you embark on a journey to gather contestants for Mojo’s wild reality television show.

Both the dialogue and gameplay of Marvel's Deadpool VR sometimes grated on me, but there are a number of impressive moments and the occasional strong joke that surprised me and made me laugh.

Ultimately, Marvel’s Deadpool VR could use a few patches – or perhaps even a release on an entirely different platform – before it plays its best, but even if everything were perfect, it’s just fine. It’s a good game, but it doesn't feel like the best a VR superhero game can be, and it didn’t make me feel like Deadpool. It’s middle-of-the-road, inoffensive, and contains silly fourth-wall breaking references to everything from Cheers to One Piece. If that sounds like a good time to you, then there’s nothing else quite like Deadpool VR.
