Jul 24, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow is a thrilling return to Gotham in VR, delivering immersive combat, clever gadgetry, and atmospheric exploration that rivals the series' best moments, even if some stealth segments fall short of the franchise’s usual polish.
-
Jun 20, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow succeeds in being an actual game where a lot of other VR experiences are just that: experiences. Arkham Shadow allows you to embody the Dark Knight and have a proper good time fighting and sneaking your way around enemies in a way no other VR title I played has so far. While not a quintessential title in the overall Arkham experience, it is a must play for Quest 3 owners that are also Batman fans. Each gaming session will present you with a good challenge with a decent story and great immersion, leaving wanting more.
-
May 19, 2025It may not revolutionize VR game design like Half-Life: Alyx, but Batman: Arkham Shadow is a great example of what the platform can be with a triple-A budget. All of the key mechanics that make the Arkham series what it is are translated brilliantly to this new format, leading to a game that fits right in with what came before while still feeling like a bold step forward.
-
Apr 28, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow is not only a worthy entry into the Arkham series, but by far the best VR game I have ever played. The game looks great, has faithfully remastered mechanics to translate the original Arkham experience into VR, and has a story that keeps you so engaged you do not even notice you have worked up a sweat beating down Gotham’s bad guys.
-
Feb 14, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow is an exceptional VR experience. The captivating world and brilliant story sucks you in. Moreover, the VR mechanics are seamless and I lost hours in the grim and dangerous world. The only shortcomings were some minor bugs and glitches. However, this shouldn't put you off.
-
Feb 10, 2025This is so much more than a VR spin-off like so many early virtual reality games, including Rocksteady’s own Batman: Arkham VR. It deserves to sit in the canon alongside Origins, Asylum, City, and Knight.
-
Jan 27, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow is a fully-fledged Arkham adventure through and through, and not to be missed if you have any affection for the Caped Crusader. It adds its own strengths to the famous action series and, aside from the template, is also a showcase title for virtual reality.
-
Jan 14, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow pays homage to the Arkham games as if solely developed by Rocksteady itself. Incredible combat, a fantastic cast of characters, and the opportunity to feel downright unstoppable make Batman: Arkham Shadow a game worthy of a Meta Quest 3 pick-up.
-
Jan 2, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow is the most authentic and immersive way to make yourself feel like the Caped Crusader that I’ve ever played.
-
Jan 2, 2025The combat can be a little unforgiving depending on your fitness level, but this really is a VR Arkham game in every way.
-
Dec 27, 2024Batman Arkham Shadow brings the gameplay of Batman's previous adventures to virtual reality, and does so masterfully, culminating in a new story in which combat, investigation and stealth feel like never before in the series. Now you are Batman, and all you'll need is Bruce Wayne's money to believe it.
-
Dec 18, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow from developer Camouflaj is a superb game that honors the Arkham series name. While the world in this game is smaller and more linear than a typical Arkham adventure, the Meta Quest VR version excels in story, execution, and feel.
-
Dec 11, 2024Quibbles aside, this is an outstanding piece of work by Camouflaj. Making a VR Batman game comparable to the flat versions is no small feat. You get all the elements of an Arkham game. There’s exploration, combat, detective work, stealth, and puzzle solving. While it may not have the scale of a flat Arkham game, it has an engaging story with unexpected twists as you try to track down who is the Rat King. What is also heartening is Camouflaj will continue to update the game with free content such as additional Challenge Maps. If you’ve yet to experience VR and are a big Batman fan, you’ll never get a better or more affordable opportunity to try it out with a Quest 3S/Batman bundle. Or really feel like Batman.
-
Nov 21, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is the next stage of immersion for the franchise, thanks in part to its fluid gameplay mechanics and stellar performances.
-
Nov 10, 2024Batman Arkham Shadow is one of the best VR games on the market, although it’s only available on Meta Quest 3 at this time. Not only is it a very good Batman Arkham that respects the universe in which it infiltrates, but as a bonus it is an extremely well-designed game. Its combat system, directly inspired by that of the other games in the franchise, is simply incredible although very tiring. We really fight at last, miming hooks, uppercuts and other special shots. From fighting, to using gadgets, to movements for exploration, everything is extremely well done. The rhythm is at the top, the game keeps us in breath more than a dozen hours without forcing and as a bonus it turns out to be rather beautiful. Batman Arkham Shadow is clearly a must for all Meta Quest 3 helmet owners, but be careful, being Batman is not easy, it’s very, very physical.
-
Nov 7, 2024While not everyone has access to a Quest 3 headset, everyone needs to play Batman: Arkham Shadow – it’s that much of a must-have that it’ll be a guaranteed system seller. It admirably transposes the Arkham gameplay loop to VR in a way that harnesses the medium’s idiosyncracies while also retaining the DNA that made the previous games so special. It’s the best VR game I’ve ever laid hands on, and one of 2024’s biggest surprises.
-
Nov 6, 2024If you have been longing for another Batman game in the wake of Batman: Arkham Knight releasing almost ten years ago, I really cannot recommend Arkham Shadow enough. While it requires a bit of a heavier investment as it’s only available on Meta Quest 3, I struggle to believe that any Batman fan will be disappointed by what Camouflaj has done with Arkham Shadow. It’s not only one of the best VR games that I’ve ever played, but it’s a Batman experience that very much earns its place amongst the Arkham games that have come before. If VR ends up being the predominant medium in which Batman: Arkham titles are released in the future, you won’t find me complaining.
-
Nov 4, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow lets the player fully live out their Batman dream. It had incredible immersion, a great story, and gameplay that made me really feel like the Dark Knight, but it isn’t an experience I will soon forget.
-
Nov 4, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is the blueprint for how to do AAA VR. The game makes every effort to translate the franchise’s best features to virtual reality, with a level of detail that makes you feel like Batman himself. It’s all complemented by an original story that’s on the same level of quality as most games in the series.
-
Oct 31, 2024If Batman: Arkham Shadow's overall quality and fun factor lead other publishers to trust that storied franchises can be handled by proven developers like Camouflaj, then I consider it a win for any fan who wants more from a series or universe. Arkham Shadow isn't just a win for the Meta Quest platform or VR; it's a win for the industry as a whole. It proves that successful games can branch out to new mediums without ruining the original feel, and that's what really matters to me.
-
Oct 30, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is a full-on AAA VR experience that everyone with a Meta Quest 3 or 3S should try, and people who don't have either headset need to get one to play this game.
-
Oct 29, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow feels like the virtual reality experience that Batman deserves. A fully-fledged triple A title that successfully translates so many industry defining elements into a VR framework with the utmost success. Camouflaj have delivered a unique and fantastic addition to what is already a sublime series of games.
-
Oct 22, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is the latest must-buy VR title, and does its namesake justice. Being Batman is something you dream of, and Camouflaj has done great work in putting you under the cowl. Where some teams would simply offer a short VR experience, the team has crafted a game rich in depth between combat, exploration, and story.
-
Oct 22, 2024Arkham Shadow feels faithful to the flatscreen Arkham games while innovating in its own way through VR-specific design. Combat remains familiar yet incredibly satisfying, Detective Mode feels like a natural fit for first-person gameplay and the strong narrative held my interest throughout. With the flatscreen games, you never stepped into the caped crusader's shoes but with the VR game, I didn't want to leave them.
-
Oct 22, 2024Not only one of the best VR experiences ever made but one of the best Batman games too, with a fantastically immersive simulation of the Dark Knight Detective, that’s just as good as the other Arkham games.
-
Mar 25, 2025It may not be the revolutionary VR title that unequivocally makes the platform become widely adopted, but I would absolutely count it among my favorite VR experiences alongside games like Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alyx.
-
Jan 21, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow is a real achievement for the team at Camouflaj and a milestone in VR superhero games. With a reach story, challenging yet seamlessly coordinated combat, and decent stealth scenarios, Batman: Arkham Shadow is the perfect place to feel truly in the cape crusader’s cowls.
-
Mar 31, 2025With how skeptical and disappointed I was at the announcement, I never expected to be so impressed by Arkham Shadow. It flawlessly translates the atmosphere and gameplay of the ‘flat screen’ games to the standalone VR headset. If you own a Meta Quest 3 or 3S, this is truly a must-play.
-
Dec 3, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is quite simply the best virtual reality video game since Half-Life: Alyx, and that's saying something. Camouflaj's creation is not a "simple" VR experience. On the contrary, it is a full-fledged adventure that fits perfectly into the Arkhamverse and guarantees total immersion. The studios have managed to transpose the gameplay that made the series successful, whether it be combat, investigations and infiltration, while adding their own personal touch. In Arkham Shadow, you don't play Batman... You are Batman and that makes all the difference. Aside from a few bugs and a slight feeling of repetitiveness after several hours, Camouflaj is flawless.
-
Nov 18, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is a VR game by Camouflaj that builds on the concept of Batman: Arkham VR. It’s considered an outstanding addition to the Arkham saga, a top-tier VR experience, and a title that might encourage purchases of Meta Quest 3 or 3S, especially as it's bundled with these headsets. Although VR might not appeal to all Batman fans, the creators of Iron Man VR have crafted a compelling game that’s essential for enthusiasts of the Dark Knight.
-
Nov 11, 2024Quotation forthcoming.
-
Nov 11, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is a great VR experience for Batman fans, featuring engaging gameplay and a well-crafted story. Despite bugs and frame-rate drops, it remains a must-have title on Meta Quest 3.
-
Nov 4, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is a stunning virtual reality game, and a damn-good workout. Yes, you feel like Batman, but the game is more than just a simulator for Dark Knight roleplayers. It’s proof that any game concept can be adapted to a VR platform with enough care and skill, and it’s proof that VR has the sauce many claim it doesn’t. If you have a Quest 3, you need to play Batman. If you like Batman, you need a Quest 3.
-
Oct 24, 2024While I get the skepticism over a VR Batman game (I was unsure how this would actually pan out when it was announced), Camouflaj has more than proven that they are a major player in the VR AAA space, and Oculus Studios has yet another feather in their cap with Arkham Shadow.
-
Oct 24, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow delivers an engaging VR experience that captures the essence of the Arkham series by understanding the core formula and deeply adapting it for VR. The game offers well-executed movement, light puzzles, and innovative VR melee combat. The narrative, though not without impressive voice acting and world-building, suffers from painfully slow pacing and direction, ultimately diminishing immersion. The game turns out to be surprisingly comfortable considering the significant amount of artificial locomotion.
-
Jul 22, 2025Batman Arkham Shadow is a proper game with VR and not simply a VR game. This is a true must-have for Batman fans.
-
Jul 7, 2025Batman: Arkham Shadow was the best introduction into the VR world I could’ve asked for. I’d recommend newcomers like myself to start on the easier difficulties to get acquainted with the controls, then ramp things up slowly as you get into a groove. The plot enthusiasts may find themselves disappointed by the story, but look, this is the closest you’ll ever get to actually feeling you’re Batman. That’s gotta count for something.
-
Feb 24, 2025No game will bring you closer to actually being Batman, and exploring the world of Batman: Arkham Shadow is an absolute joy. Throw in a mixture of detective work, seriously satisfying combat and thrilling traversal, and you have one of the best VR games to date. The only problem? If you're prone to motion sickness, getting through it might be a struggle.
-
Jan 2, 2025It’s a great game and as I said before, it’s a great translation of the Arkham games into VR. I think it’s worth playing and if you don’t already have a Quest, a lot of the Quest 3 bundles include Arkham Shadow on purchase. VR is a growing market, so jump in and give Arkham Shadow a shot. You won’t regret it.
-
Nov 18, 2024Strong VR sequel to the Batman: Arkham series that feels almost like the original with a first-person perspective.
-
Oct 29, 2024The highs are high enough. Its story is a fun Batman romp that would work as a solid comic book arc, even if it can't touch Rocksteady's mainline saga. Moreover, it's by capturing the full spectrum of Arkham's still-exciting gameplay mechanics so effectively that Shadow becomes a must-play game for Batman fans, and a revealing measuring stick of how much virtual reality has advanced in just a few years. This isn't the first Batman Arkham game made for VR, but it's undoubtedly the first to feel like it belongs with the rest of the series.
-
Oct 28, 2024It's great to see really lavish, well-made and successful blockbuster titles like these in VR. The format itself would have needed a lot of these games at an earlier stage to reach a wider and larger audience. If you have a Quest headset, you just can't miss Arkham Shadow.
-
Oct 24, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow isn't just a great VR game; it's one of the best Batman games ever.
-
Oct 24, 2024Batman Arkham Shadow can feel rough around the edges at times, but it's still a more than worthy entry to the Arkham series, and an essential Quest 3 experience.
-
Oct 24, 2024Everything you'd expect from a full-fat Arkham game has been smartly translated into VR. It's a winning package and Meta finally has a must-play Quest exclusive. Here's hoping this is the first of many.
-
Oct 23, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow is a legitimately great Arkham game, one that mostly lives up to the high bar set by the Rocksteady trilogy. A few patches will go a long way in making Arkham Shadow even better, but even now, it's an easy recommendation for Quest 3 and 3S owners.
-
Oct 23, 2024Batman: Arkham Shadow does an admirable job of adapting almost everything I love about the Arkham series to work in a full-fledged VR game, and it’s impressive looking for a game that’s exclusive to the standalone Meta Quest 3 headset. There are a few hitches and aggravating bugs that mean some parts don’t work quite as well as others, but its vigorous brawling, exploration, tricky puzzle solving, and stealth are all in full effect as you sneak and punch your way through Blackgate prison in a twisting undercover pursuit of a mysterious cult leader where just about everybody’s a suspect. It’s certainly smaller in scale than any full game since Arkham Asylum, but it’s far larger and more built-out than you might expect after Batman: Arkham VR, and a return to an enclosed prison setting makes it feel dense and intricate.
-
Oct 22, 2024At times, Arkham Shadow is the coolest VR game ever made. But a bevy of game-stopping bugs and some of the sharpest difficulty spikes I've ever encountered keep this bat from immediately soaring. An incredible - and incredibly gorgeous - VR translation of core Arkham mechanics, but still too rough around the edges for such a prestige franchise. Give it a couple of weeks and it will be a nigh-perfect experience, but it's a shame it's releasing in this condition.
-
Oct 22, 2024While it may not have the immersive mechanics to be a great VR introduction, Batman: Arkham Shadow is fun to play and faithful to its Arkham predecessors. And yeah, picking off enemies one-by-one feels great.
-
Edge MagazineNov 29, 2024The knowledge that there's always another unlock just around the corner - and the tanalising locked-off areas you pass en rouge - ensures Shadow retains the fourth, invisible thing that held the Arkham series' other pillars together: the sense of forward momentum.
