It's good, very cheap price, and despite the problems of playing games on IOS, it's still an enjoyable experience. If you have a DS/3DS, buy it on there, or wait for the Steam version, but if you have no alternative, it's still great on the IOS.

The controls are really smooth, Shantae feels very satisfying to move around, her attack(she whips her hair) feels very snappy, and there's no delay. She can learn transformation abilities(monkey, elephant, mermaid, which she does by bellydancing).
The game is very self aware, making jokes about the genre and games in general. Story is simplistic, Risky Boots, Shantae's pirate nemesis is after a relic to turn herself into a genie, and Shantae goes out to stop her.
The graphics look great, with some of the best animation of 2D sprites I've ever seen outside of Rayman. Keep in mind, it can be a bit hard, especially on the IOS port with the weird controls of IOS games in general.

This is a platformer with great animation and a fun world that doesn't take itself too seriously. Nothing revolutionary here, but players should be happy.

Add the odd cruelly-placed save point, and you've got an adventure that occasionally explores the agonies, as well as the ecstasies, of gaming's past. At least it's honest.

It's certainly one of the better virtual control schemes and you'll only occasionally find problems with it, especially when required to jump and attack, but overall, it retains the engaging gameplay from the original.
