May 14, 2012Max Payne Mobile pays tribute to the original, and if you have never played the original you owe it to yourself to give it a go. It is by no means a perfect game, and you will get annoyed with Max spastically drying to jump, or getting stuck on something. Still it is an important piece of gaming history, and despite the flaws it is highly enjoyable due to a great story, amazing voice acting and relentless action.

May 8, 2012A piece of gaming history that, despite a few blemishes, still deserves a playthrough in this day and age.

Apr 20, 2012A good port of the first Max Payne game is spoiled by the only thing - its controls. Even though the control system is adjustable, it is not as impressive as it should be, and it can be annoying from time to time. That's the reason why the gunfights are not entertaining enough as they used to be. However, there is no reason to turn your back on this port because the rest of the game is exactly the same as we've remembered - stylish, rough, funny, and above all of good quality.
-
Apr 16, 2012The controls make me question the future of such extraordinary titles on iOS devices. Rockstar Games has clearly done everything possible to make them work but there's still that sense that this would all be so much easier with a physical controller.
-
Apr 16, 2012Max Payne Mobile is a perfect port... gone wrong. The game is the same as the original PC version, but the touch controls and the low difficulty make it less enjoyable than what it should have been.
-
Apr 12, 2012Bullet Time is almost useless due to awkward controls.
-
Apr 30, 2012Sure, the mobile version is a third of the PC price at only $3, but with variable performance issues and clunky controls, you probably won't play more than a third of the game before moving on.
-
Apr 18, 2012For a game that defined itself by making you feel like a cold-blooded killer thanks to its accurate controls and great bullet time mechanic, Max Payne's iOS port is disappointing. The wealth of control options is impressive, but they don't do enough to combat the inherent clumsiness of the virtual sticks and buttons.
-
Apr 17, 2012A good port if you only look at the graphics, but the controls aren't there.
-
Apr 13, 2012Good old Max shares his problems with the mobile version of GTA 3: It just doesn't suit the platform.
-
Apr 13, 2012Max Payne Mobile's repetitive gameplay and irksome controls definitely won't impress newcomers. But for gamers who enjoyed the original, this iOS edition is a strong enough port to bring back good memories.
