Final Fantasy 5 is a game that enhances everything that’s come before in the series, and provides one of the most enthralling RPG experiences you’ll find.

Final Fantasy V might not represent the high point of the series, but Square Enix's sympathetic graphical overhaul and that ever-engrossing job system mean that it feels surprisingly fresh in 2013.

It's always hard to review these classic FF titles on iOS because they're always essentially ports of ports of the originals. Just as was the case with the previously released iOS ports, Final Fantasy V is a no-brainer if you're an RPG fan and have not had the pleasure of playing it.

This is an overall well executed port of a great game, a game that would go on to inspire the famed job system in Final Fantasy Tactics. If you’re a fan of the original release or a fan of JRPGs in general, you will likely find something to enjoy in Final Fantasy V.

Now in no way am I putting theses games down. I enjoyed IV and absolutely loved VI but the job system in 5 is amazing. The gameplay is perfect and the story is underrated. I would recommend any RPG fan to play this, and I hope people do. Expand

It also has great characters, an amazing storyline, the gameplay is great, the music is amazing, the graphics are really colorful, and the world is open to explore for most of the game. But there are problems the controls in this version is really bad because the control can't be fixed, the random encounter rate is incredibly high, I barely ever knew where to go, and the characters seem to have barely any health for most of the game. Final Fantasy V is a bit of a step back from FFIV in terms of plot and story arc, but it makes up for it in terms of gameplay. The jobs systemFinal Fantasy V is a bit of a step back from FFIV in terms of plot and story arc, but it makes up for it in terms of gameplay. The jobs system is a great touch and creates a genuine bond with the characters as you try different skills and learn new abilities. You’ll quickly ignore the collect-the-crystals, save-the-universe stuff and focus on the funny jokes, inventive enemies and brightly-colored landscapes as you fight your way to the final showdown against Exdeath. Overall, it’s a 7/10 for me: It’s an entertaining adventure that’s obviously good value for money at 35-40 hours, but lacks the memorable story, characters and drama of other instalments in the franchise. Go for FFIV and FFVI first. in my view is Expand
