Completion: Finished main game, did not engage in postgame content.

Pros: - Infectious charm that permeates every aspect of the game. - Weaves together multiple narratives to create a story that is enjoyable now and unbelievably impressive for what was originally a NES game - Game is located with secrets and fun side quests - Very inventive gameplay sections that surprised me even
Completion: Finished main game, did not engage in postgame content.

    Pros:
    - Infectious charm that permeates every aspect of the game.
    - Weaves together multiple narratives to create a story that is enjoyable now and unbelievably impressive for what was originally a NES game
    - Game is located with secrets and fun side quests
    - Very inventive gameplay sections that surprised me even as a modern player. In particular, Torneko's chapter was incredible

    Cons:
    - Mobile controls are still sloppy despite the developers' best efforts
    - Clunky menus that take far too long to do what you want
    - No autobattle/2x battle. This feature should be just about necessary for any JRPG with heavy grinding, especially a remake decades after the fact
    - Battle system gets repetitive. However, this is a complaint you can raise for just about every early JRPG

    Likely the best NES JRPG

  1. Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen is an entertaining epic. Fifteen bucks might seem steep for a mobile game, but it’s a reasonable price to pay for a fantasy adventure that could end up keeping dedicated RPG fans occupied for weeks or months.

Chapters of the Chosen is still one of the finest entries in the Dragon Quest series. The mobile version is far from perfect, but it's easily one of the best porting Square Enix ever made on a smartphone.

Another outstanding iOS and Android port of one of the best Dragon Quest entries. Fans of the JRPG will rejoice.
