Sep 22, 2013Being able to switch back and forth on the fly from classic first-person action to a top-down third-person perspective made for a decent and varied mobile CoD experience.
-
Sep 9, 2013Rest assured, Call of Duty: Strike Team can actually hold its own, not only in the iOS gaming ecosystem, but in the world of handheld FPS titles as well.
-
Sep 6, 2013Call of Duty: Strike Team is one-part clumsy FPS, and one-part satisfying top-down strategy game. Spend most of your time with the latter and you'll be guaranteed a pretty good time.
-
Sep 12, 2013Strike Team proves that more isn’t always preferable. In this case, first-person isn’t really an alternative or even complementary way to play – it’s just glue for when the better mode starts to fall apart.
-
Sep 10, 2013Call of Duty: Strike Team mixes familiar Call of Duty action with new third-person strategy gameplay that lets players control their squad from overhead.
-
Games Master UKOct 20, 2013An interesting attempt to appease both FPS and TBS fans which fails on both counts. [Dec 2013, p.74]

Sep 23, 2013Call of Duty: Strike Team is another example of how shooters don't work on a smartphone. Shooting is sluggish and slow, which has you relying on auto-aiming throughout the entire game. The uninspired story is just as boring as the gameplay, which won't have you clamoring for more. The RTS-elements could offer some form of redemption, but these hardly work because of the average controls.
-
Sep 19, 2013Call of Duty: Strike Team is an compelling experiment but held back by the touch controls. If this was made for a controller it could be more impressive. They packed a console-like game into Strike Team with leaderboards and challenge maps but it ultimately feels held back by its lackluster controls.
-
Sep 10, 2013There’s effort and ambition here but nothing can overcome the limitations of a touchscreen or the doomed efforts to replicate the first person console experience.
-
Sep 10, 2013When directing death from above, Strike Team offers a glimpse at what might have been, but when it’s time to go loud, the whole thing collapses as limply as the enemies you’ve dropped.
-
Sep 9, 2013Outside of the campaign levels, players can also test their endurance on challenge maps or strive to reach the top of challenge leaderboards. I appreciate the attempt to make a feature-packed mobile title, but control and AI issues keep Strike Team from being the polished experience that’s typically associated with the Call of Duty name.
